to replace Porter Goss as CIA Director. Sens. Russ Feingold (D-WI), Evan Bayh (D-IN), and Ron Wyden (D-OR) opposed the nomination. “If the Senate approves him before Memorial Day, as expected, Hayden could be sworn in by the end of the week.”
I have said it before and I will say it again. It is not red and blue in Washington. It is a shade of purple. We have a government run by Demolican and Republocrats. This country is doomed.
So now the CIA will be linked to the Armed Forces. Greeeat. All these neo-cons are watering at teh mouth. Aside from that I was looking at Hayden and it struck me he looks a lot like the mad scientist in the Bugs Bunny cartoon when he tried to steal his brain. He stuck himself with a drug and was moving real slow saying “Come back here rabbit”…..anyway back to reality.
Considering both the Clintons and the Bushs are part of the Carlyle Group, I think it started earlier than that. Why do you think Bill and Bush Sr. are such good friends now? And I mean beyond their equal hatred of George Jr.
You can’t answer “No” and still believe the NSA’s domestic spying program is legal. But for obvious political reasons, no one from the Bush administration say what they truly believe and say “Yes” in public.
I know someone is going to call me a nutjob, conspiracy theorist, but i’m going to say it anyway. The American people have no idea how truly evil these Neo-Cons are. The majority of Americans are completely unprepaired for whats comming.
Martial Law! Total Despotism!
Laugh now but, dont say you weren’t warned. Im warning you now. In the next 5-10 years, we will see who is laughing. I hope we can turn it around but, I think too many people are just not prepared to look at the true face of the horrors prepaired for us.
Any serious student of history will be able to see the pattern developing. As we reach the end game, things will begin to accelerate rather rapidly. Be prepaired for more manufactured events, designed to induce the population to give up more of its liberty.
Just know who it is that is perpetrating these horrors on us. Our own Government! Again, go ahead and laugh, but remember that you were warned.
And how we burned in the camps later, thinking: What would things have been like if every Security operative, when he went out at night to make an arrest, had been uncertain whether he would return alive and had to say goodbye to his family? Or if, during periods of mass arrests, as for example in Leningrad, when they arrested a quarter of the entire city, people had not simply sat there in their lairs, paling in terror
at every bang of the downstairs door and at every step on the staircase, but had understood they had nothing left to lose and had boldly set up in the downstairs hall an ambush of half a dozen people with axes, hammers, pokers, or whatever else was at hand. The Organs would very quickly have suffered a shortage of officers and transport and, notwithstanding all of Stalin’s thirst; the cursed machine would have ground to a halt!”- The Gulag Archipelago, Aleksandr Solzhenitsyn
Well, this just falls in place with them sending armed troops to secure the borders, building a mega-prison at Guantanamo, and the illegal wire tapping of American citizens… Hitler would be proud.
At this rate, Quisling could’ve gotten confirmed if Bush had nominated him. What’s the point in even having Senate Committees, anymore? Or ewen having chairs in the Senate chambers when they might as well phone it in.
Btw, tell me if my response to this little incident was appropriate or if I’m just having a nervous breakdown.
No surprise here. The Dems can’t oppose Hayden for fear of being seen as “weak” on “terrorists”. I’m glad some Dems stood up against this illegal W stooge.
The Republicans are not Nazis, they are Nationalists. They even have the same basic ruling ethic, the same belief that if everyone thinks they are stupid, noone will do anything about them. The Latinos are their blacks, and terrorism is their communism.
I implore you in America, do not make the same mistakes South Africa made at the dawn of the Nationalist era, and Apartheid. Stand up to your government, or prepare to lose your country.
The country is already lost, save for a few brave souls.
The country is LOST–degenerated, corrupt and without any moral compass.
I cannot vote for any Democrat in the next election. and will not vote for any Republican.
Sorry, but the promise of impeachment and justice being brought to the Bush fascist regime if ONLY WE CAN TAKE BACK THE HOUSE, is mere hope, faith and promises built on longings that have no substance at all.
The only reason the “violent” liberals resort to violence, (which is talk, and remains to be seen) is that everything else has failed, and the Right has the government to perform the violent work for them, under “the law” so Anvilhead can enjoy the violence passsively and feel it’s justified. Unfortunately, whenever any government gets too abusive, violence is the way to get them out. The Right has taught us that.
I would also recommend we not threaten violence, the Right gets all over that and likes to use it.
If I knew for sure, no-one would ever be able to kick our asses(the US), then I would jump right in with Anvilboy, but that wouldn’t be realistic to think we will never be vulnerable, and always be the 800lb gorilla, etc. Since when in the history of the world has any empire made it “forever”? Also, a culture of people never forget, it’s encoded in the DNA the memories of genocide. Look at the Middle East, it has not been forgotton over the last 3000 or so years. Every dog has its day, and the rest of the world may not be very kind when when our day comes. That’s why I am against acting like the world’s biggest bully.

Unfortunately for us, the rest of the world is not that way. Every person that we torture or kill unjustly breeds (probably several) more terrorists. They may not become terrorists for many years but, rest assured, they will not forget their hatred. We have a LONG row to hoe ahead of us. If we don’t start mending some of the relationships we have with the rest of the world we aren’t going to be a superpower for much longer (much less the only one). Regardless, your post was in horribly poor taste. You don’t deserve to call yourself an American and you wouldn’t know what it means to be a patriot if I drew you a map. You, sir, are an ass of the highest caliber.
It really is true that reapeating something enough times becomes the truth in the mind. I was at a 3 day seminar on Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, the same techniques which I was taught to help people, are used by salespeople and politicians for other reasons.
So we know that Sen. Levin the phony Dem traitor voted YES for Hayden and Sen. Feinstein another phony Dem. traitor, so who are the other 2 Dem traitors who voted YES? Was that Bush loving whore Sen. Lieberman one of them? Who is the 4th traitor?
Levin and Feinstein and Lieberman are all Zionists, so none of them work for America! They must be removed from the Senate and deported to Israel > never allowed to return as well!
For some reason when I read those names Russ Feingold (D-WI), Evan Bayh (D-IN), and Ron Wyden (D-OR), I felt an odd feeling like I was witnessing one of the last moments where our country’s last patriots kept fighting until the end, trying everything they could to no avail before our Republic came into a dark new era. Folks, the greatest experiment in government is over. These SOB’s like Hayden engineered 9/11 and did so for a reason that most of us cannot fathom because we have a conscience. It’s time to get that passport and make your plans to leave – not in protest of Bush – but for your own lives.
The New York Times exposes the fact that the Bush administration is intercepting phone calls between the US and parties living in other countries without warrants or by fallowing the law as set out under FISA. Is there any rage over this. Certainly from our elected officials. Who are so afraid of being critical of such abuses of power because then the Republicans will brand them as being weak on security and somehow for terrorism. Then two weeks ago the USA Today reveals that 3 of the 4 largest telecommunications companies in America have turned over records by the millions to the government so that their calling habits can be monitored. Is there any out rage over this from our elected officials. Just enough to make it look like they are against the whole thing. So then Porter Goss the CIA Director suddenly resigns and who does the administration pick to be his replacement? None other than the man who over saw the program from the beginning Gen. Michael Hayden. Is there any out rage over this? Only from those elected officials who see the real dangers of what is happening to this country. What about the mainstream media, again just enough so that you the loyal reader will believe they really are against warrant less wire tapping and the illegal tracing of peoples calling habits. And the Senate Intelligence Committee has voted to approve Gen. Hayden’s conformation as head of the CIA. Only three Democrats on the committee voted against Gen. Hayden’s conformation Sen’s. Feingold, Weldon and Bayh.
The only place there has been any out rage over these abuses has been on the many bloggs that understand the threats to this country the Bush Administration posses and from the many informed people who leave their comments.
What can’t our elected representives understand that the oath of office is to protect, defend and preserve the Constitution and not how long one might hold on to said office

Tear down your newspaper clippings and magazine articles that you have thumb-tacked to your dingy apartment’s walls, open the blinds and let some light in, crumple up your tin-foil hats, sell your copy of “Conspiracy Theory”—better yet, throw it away, and pull your head out of your ass. Then you’ll finally realize that the NewYork Times and USA Today are guilty of making the news instead of reporting it. The mainstream media keeps trying to sell this warrantless wire tapping schtick in order to further shape public opinion, and you bought it. The many blogs that you frequent are most likely operated by radical left-wing nut jobs. Step back from the edge my friend, the world is not as dark as you’ve been led to believe.
Don’t vote Democrat or Republican, the 2 party system was what went wrong in South Africa, if you only have 2 parties it will inevitably devolve down into a 1 party state, vote independent. You may not think your vote matters in the grand scheme of things, but every vote counts.
Just because you like having your head stuck in the sand doesn’t mean everyone else does. The wiretapping checks out, it is growing larger every day, and law suits are being launched based on it. It isn’t a case of the media making the news, its a case of the news being to big for the media to ignore, and besides Reporters don’t like having their sources compromised, it makes their jobs more difficult.
Your side is losing Antagonist, you are dying breed, and in the years to come, your side will eventually be extinct, replaced by honest conservatives and strong liberals.

I would love to see the independents start winning some elections, but unfortunately they usually finish a distant third. Apparently the majority of this country is only interested in either Democrat or Republican candidates.

If someone like Ross Perot could get 20% of the vote – I have much hope for viable Independents in 2008 – especially if the problems keep getting worse (conservative corruption and liberal apathy to that corruption).
When the burden becomes painful enough – we’ll see change. I just hope we are still able to do it with ballots – and not bullets.

I’m with ya – I just don’t know where those people are. The system has become so corrupt and foul it seems to only be attracting rats and roaches…
Any suggestions for finding people willing to go into the sewer and clean the place up? And most of all – getting the sheep to actually vote for those people? I don’t think things have gotten as bad over here as they were (and in some cases are) over there.

It happened via the Nats gaining control via seats rather then a majority (the cities voted UP in the 1948 elections, the dorps voted Nat, kinda like the Republicans in 2000.)
It happened via the Nats maintaining control via apathy and people not believing their votes meant anything.
It happened via state control of the news.
It happened via the Nats stabbing the coloureds in the back (Much like the Republican treatment of the Latino populations right now as the heat is getting turned up.)
It happened via the demonisation of all political opposition.
It happened via playing up the threat of terrorism.
It happened via the importance of culture, and playing up the divide between the largely liberal English speakers, and the largely conservative Afrikaaners. (The North/South devide in America anyone?)
It happened via a largely compliant opposition, and the people who refused to weaken it until it was too late.
All enemies were communist. Even opposing football teams. (Stefan on another thread accuses all Democrats of being Marxists, sound familiar?)
It happened via the use of religion as a state tool. The Dutch Reform Church in particular is guilty here, much as the Evangelical Churches of America are guilty over in America.
It took us about 41 years for things to get bad enough to force a change, don’t give the Republicans 41 years to ruin your country. Learn from the mistakes of South Africa.
Learn from the mistakes of South Africa.
Comment by Bruce Gorton — May 24, 2006 @ 9:21 am
Great idea – unfortunately the majority of Americans don’t even know South Africa is a country… or any real history of anything. I’m frequently appalled at how little average Americans know about anyting useful. Sure they can sing you the latest rap song lyrics, or give you a synopsis of any celebrity’s love life – but when it comes to an awareness of what’s going on outside their fantasy world – you get a deer in the headline stare.
I’ve started putting together power point presentations for the Architectural history portions of my classes in the fall. I don’t know if it will stick, but I’m going to teach them not only about buildings – but about the culture, politics and history of other countries. Sort of ‘virtual field trips’. It’s why I gave up a lucrative career to become a teacher – to have the opportunity to teach someting valuable (awareness)…
I’ll be certain to include a lecture on South Africa – and its parallels.
If you dont believe that wire tapping and e-mail reading is going on then check out the address of 611 Folsom, San Francisco, CA. Deep in the basement in Room 641A is where AT&T set up operations for NSA.
This is the SBC building, why dont you go there and try to get in. I sent a very insistent person there yesterday and he was immediately arrested. I talked with his daughter this morning, and she still cant find out where and why he is being held.
Two days before this vote that saw key Democratic leaders like Levin and Feinstein vote for Hayden, I received an email from the DNC to sign a petition opposing Hayden.
Democratic Senators with safe seats opposed the Party and caved to the fear-mongers,
I am beginning to think we need a third political party. The current crop of Congressmen in both parties seem all to willing to give up our freedoms.
The three that opposed Hayden deserver our support. This all has a very Orwellian feel to it.
The fact that I couldn’t get in doesn’t prove anything. I can’t get into Disneyland without a ticket—their security would probably chase me down and detain me. Try getting on an airplane without a ticket, or bypass a security checkpoint and see what happens to you. I suppose that would prove wire tapping to you as well.
The militarization of the USA continues. Our representatives are installing the architects of this plan in permanent positions in the government. The confirmation of this guy is a tacit approval of his methods and goals. The despair evident in this thread is well-founded.

The Democrats are the party of opposition. It is a given that they will oppose each and every nomination and appointment by this current Administration without exception. Once America can see these candidates during the hearing process, they can see for themselves that these individuals are very qualified, and that these sanctimonious Democrat senetors are only playing politics. Hayden was approved because there was no real reason not to approve him. It was the same with Roberts and Alito.
The vote for Hayden was done behind closed doors, because those who voted YES for him are too cowardly to do it in the open in front of the press and C-Span cameras! Notice that we know the 3 names of the Dem Senators that said NO, but the 4 Dems who voted YES are trying to lay low and out of sight! Their names must be published in every Newspaper in America as traitors and every Democrat must demand that they resign in disgrace!
Yikes… Chicken Little approved with the help of some chicken-shit Dems.

May 24th, 2006 at 6:57 amThank you, Jello Democrats.
I guess these things are cyclical. Maureen Dowd goes after the Clintons again.

May 24th, 2006 at 7:45 amTear down your newspaper clippings and magazine articles that you have thumb-tacked to your dingy apartment’s walls, open the blinds and let some light in, crumple up your tin-foil hats, sell your copy of “Conspiracy Theory”—better yet, throw it away, and pull your head out of your ass.

May 24th, 2006 at 8:26 amI would love to see the independents start winning some elections, but unfortunately they usually finish a distant third.

May 24th, 2006 at 8:51 amunbelievable The parralels are frightening.

May 24th, 2006 at 9:38 amTwo days before this vote that saw key Democratic leaders like Levin and Feinstein vote for Hayden, I received an email from the DNC to sign a petition opposing Hayden.
May 24th, 2006 at 9:45 amDemocratic Senators with safe seats opposed the Party and caved to the fear-mongers,
I am beginning to think we need a third political party.

May 24th, 2006 at 9:51 amThe militarization of the USA continues. Our representatives are installing the architects of this plan in permanent positions in the government. The confirmation of this guy is a tacit approval of his methods and goals. The despair evident in this thread is well-founded.
Ignore the trolls.

May 24th, 2006 at 10:00 amThe Democrats are the party of opposition.
