Novak told Rove he would protect him.»

“On September 29, 2003, three days after it became known that the CIA had asked the Justice Department to investigate who leaked the name of covert CIA officer Valerie Plame, columnist Robert Novak telephoned White House senior adviser Karl Rove to assure Rove that he would protect him from being harmed by the investigation, according to people with firsthand knowledge of the federal grand jury testimony of both men,” Murray Waas reports in the National Journal.

yup - serious problems with the site, guys…
even THIS thread is double posted… so far…

i read this earlier from crooks and liars - very interesting indeed…
    novak protecting rove…

  2. Judd Says:

We’ve fixed the double posting. The stie is running slow because of a link from the Drudge Report. When he removes the link, things should return to normal. In the meantime, it’s hard for us to post (and easy to make mistakes like double post).

  3. DrSinker Says:

And you’ve tipped off Drudge to this because…???!!!???

  4. Thom Says:

Shouldn’t the headline refeclt the fact that it’s still alledged? Just to say.

As Novack threw his largesse directly in front of the oversexed inmate lurching veerily toward his prize possesion, Turdsie, Novack bared his freshly manicured fingernails, he swung wildly scratching at the horny prison man-beasts eyes, he yowled out in sheer desperation for his true love. Yes, yes he would die for his turdsie, he would do anything for that lump of sordid flush, white with fear, cowering in the corner. That was HIS Turd Blossom dammit….his little pooblykins.

  6. foxbot Says:

Don’t worry Karl. We’ll protect you

    ;)

  7. the Lone Voice of Reason Says:

Isn’t there laws about witholding evidence in a federal case , Novak is a traitor , someone please build a caseon this guy .

  8. katy Says:

hmmm… i’m no pro about this internets stuff…
When he removes the link, things should return to normal.
did you just tip off dr___ (i can’t even type it) of an excuse to keep this site linked? ie - to slow down TP’s traffic and posting?
oh, duh… that’s just what DrSinker is saying…
hey! i may be smarter than i thought!

  9. jurassicpork Says:

How come this man hasn’t been summoned to the grand jury more than once and why did Judy Miller go to jail instead of this bloated, cantankerous dirtbag who did out Plame?

Btw, in case you missed it earlier, I have Bob Herbert’s newest up, in which he discusses the “Disposable American” in the workplace.

  10. dlet Says:

Novakula can go suck an egg. Hope all these dirtbags get what is coming to them. Now that would be a reality show. Rove, Novak, Libby, Cheney all in a cell block. The cat fighting would be priceless boobtube fancy.

  11. Zookeeper Says:

Ah, but will Rove protect Novak? I’m thinking not…

  12. Jay Randal Says:

Novak should go to prison with Rove, so they should share a cell together and choose who will be the bitch > lol.

  13. Marie Says:

Novak and Rove are close and always have been. Since the Jason Leoppold story has failed to materialize, I am afraid that the best that can happen is tht Rove is indicted for perjury. An indictment would surely make me happy, but an indictment of all those responsible for the malicious undertakings of this administration is certainly in order. Unless Rove or Novak give up something more to the prosecutor - and that’s a stretch - it looks like more serious crimes cannot be proven.
With so many scandals in every corner of Washington involving so many VIPs, with the advancing destruction of the Constitution and abuse of powers by the White House, wouldn’t you think something would break in favor of the public?
No, we get the NYT speculating on whether the Clintons are sleeping together.

  14. katy Says:

wow - it’s like the clouds have cleared, a weight has lifted…
i assume the dr____ has let go the hold with that link…
patience is a virtue… i wish i were better at it!
    thanks TP!

Marie - did you get to hear tom oliphant today?
    another mood lifter!

  15. Marie Says:

Yes! the TP site seems fully recovered.
Katy, I missed Oliphant on AA today. :(
    Marie

  16. katy Says:

oh, i wish i had good recall - i’d fill you in (i’m no good telling jokes either)… just the usual education really, with fun!
i guess you could get the podcast of any AA show…

one of the high lights i do remember: al told tom his theory that the enron debacle was the actual empetus for the failing economy - tom agreed and expounded on the idea…
someone here on TP brought the conversation up also… off topic, sorry…

#13 “Novak and Rove are close”
Well, Rove might want to read for hidden menaing in the bleak, self-indulgent commencement address Novak recently gave to graduates at Thomas More College:
    http://www.thomasmorecollege.edu/ news/ robertnovakcommencement.html

Not too upbeat about “government,” eh? A coded message about/to Rove?

I am sure you feel you owe a debt to your country, and you are correct. There are many ways to repay this debt, and you have free choice in picking the proper course for you.

That call of duty is not in the slightest inconsistent with my advice, born of nearly a half century of watching what goes on in Washington very, very carefully:

Never put too much faith in government.

    Watch your back, Rove.

  18. Daniel DiRito Says:

See a tongue-in-cheek visual of the plan adopted by Rove and Novak to keep their little secret quiet…here:

  19. Seixon Says:

Gosh, I sure hope that Waas didn’t follow Leopold into the woodshed.
