longtime AEI scholar Karl Zinsmeister, on race: “[C]olorblindness has become a real risk today. … The penalty for the person who, ignoring race, turns down the wrong street today can literally be death.” Greg Sargent has more at his new blog, The Horse’s Mouth.
Speaking as someone who actually has turned down what was apparently the “wrong street”, I’d say that the most likely consequence of doing so is to be stopped by police who are positive that, due to your skin color, you can only be in the neighborhood for nefarious purposes.

May 25th, 2006 at 3:48 pmBush is following Norquist’s request in dumbing down government to the point of irrelevancy. I can’t think of a department that is headed by a qualified person in this administration. None have the respect of the profession of it’s peers.
Bush is a kook that has played circus enough. The entire inner group should be removed ASAP as war criminals and/or incompetent for the job.
