I just love all of you who think that less than half the story represents the whole. This has been one of the most amusing few minutes I have ever spent on the net. All you individuals who don't live in America but think you have America all figured out-come live here awhile and sample what ultimate freedom truly is. Of course there's greed and corruption, like everywhere else. But nowhere else can one so easily decide on a course of action and have the potential of actually realizing their goals like you can in this country. So get off the "evil this" and the "evil that" routine. Save it for those places that keep their citizens heads down.

You've been ushered along by either the liberal press or the conservative viewpoint and for some reason or another simply refuse to acknowledge or perhaps understand there are always three or four sides to every story. Once you understand this the vindictive side tempers a bit and you realize that those who make comments on the unknown are fools who speak to much.

I don't claim to have the slightest idea about what's truly going on at the highest levels of government, but I also know that none of you have the slightest idea either. So please, act like someone who understands their station on the information food chain (which, despite all the garbage you've read and researched amounts to exactly that, garbage) and admit your opinions are based on the fodder you've been fed.

Ok, I'm off to my original search that somehow led me astray to this lovely place.

Good luck everyone, and retract the fangs!

#113 Yes, I know the full name of Mexico from the http:// www.odci.gov/cia/publications/factbook/geos/mx.html (CIA Factbook). But it's perfectly correct to call it simply México, for short.

And if we check the Wikipedia, yes, in the entry corresponding to http ://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mexico (México), you'll find nearly the same description that you pasted me, stating that is in North America. But, if you don't stop there, and check for http ://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Central_America )Central America), you'll find the following excerpt:

Physiographically, Central America is a narrow isthmus of southern North America extending from the Isthmus of Tehuantepec in Mexico southeastward to the Isthmus of Panama where it connects to the Colombian Pacific Lowlands in northwestern South America.

So, I guess it's correcta also say that México is in Central America, at least partially, or Physiographically. No doubt that socially and politically can be said that it's America, but saying that it's in Central America too isn't so incorrect.

You see? Now you're more Geographically Aware NorthAmerican.

To all those discussing the United States of Mexico (yes, the full name of that country), please note:

The United States of Mexico are in North America -- Not Central America.

Please get your facts straight before you argue. It provides much stronger support to your position.

unbelievable I’ll debate you anytime you grow some balls. You don’t have the intelligence to wipe your own ass. ANYTIME. ANYPLACE.

I don't need 'balls' to debate you. In case you also slept through high school Biology - that is NOT where intellect originates.

Besides, you have had anytime and anyplace - today - here and instead of debating, you've made threats and ad hominem attacks. If you were serious about anytime anyplace, you would have already put your mouth where your mouth is and we'd be having a debate. But we're not. So either put up or shut up. I'm guessing you'll just post more insults and zero facts...

Comment by Krapotkin — May 30, 2006 @ 5:35 pm

That book blew my mind. I stood in the bookstore, read the first page and thought "Holy shit, I've been in the dark".

I wish we could get it into the hands of every American. But, I know, the Nazi's running the government would NEVER allow that... especially at West Point! :)

Would be nice to have a world history version too. I've read a couple of Gore Vidal's works - sounds like I should read more. Thanks for the tip, and teh clarity!

I salute 93 and 94 comments.
Howard Zinn's works are not on West Point's required reading in history classes, and it's a shame.
The history of the Cold War, as presented by Bush ,
is pure disinformation.
According to Gore Vidal, Truman and Churchhill are the real creator of the Stalin's scare toward the West, known as the Cold War.
Stalin, reacted in Berlin, to the rearming of Germany in/about 1948, decided by the US/UK/France, in breach of all treaties with the Soviet Union.

#93 Increase the meds? a bit whack? Can we begin to discuss like people? Come on, that is boring. With all the knowledge you seem to have, at least from sources in the internet, (what did you do before it was released?) you can come up with something better.

About the yelling...this kind of attitude like yours, which is of complete irresponsibility and irrespectful towards different races, is what gives birth to revolutions. Dont worry, maybe not too soon, but when immigrants march on streets, conservative people gets very scared and pulls the leash a little more on civil rights. Some day the big, ugly dog is going to bite back. Then you will hear the yelling.

FROM WILKEPEDIA:

The federal immigration station opened on January 1, 1892 and was closed in November 1954 but not before processing more than 12 million immigrants. Previously immigrants were processed at Castle Clinton. Only about 2 percent were denied admission to the U.S. and sent back to their countries of origin for reasons such as chronic disease, criminal background, or insanity [1]. Immigrants were examined by both doctors and questioned by government officials. Many who were allowed entry settled in New York and northern New Jersey for at least their first few years in America. During this time period, Angel Island ( between Alcatraz and the Pacific Ocean), California in San Francisco Bay served a similar purpose on the West Coast, processing mostly Chinese immigrants.

Ellis Island was the first stop for most immigrants from Europe. There, they were processed before they could enter the United States. First, they had to pass a physical examination. Those with serious health problems or diseases were sent home or were held in the island's hospital facilities for long periods of time. Next, they were asked a series of questions, including name, occupation, work experience, and the amount of money they carried with them. Generally, those immigrants who were approved spent from hours up to a day at Ellis Island. However, more than three thousand would-be immigrants died on Ellis Island while being held in the hospital facilities. Some unskilled workers and infirm migrants were rejected outright because they were considered "likely to become a public charge."

The American Civil War (1861–1865) was a bitter sectional conflict that began after southern states of the United States declared their secession from the Union and formed the Confederate States of America. The United States did not recognize any right of secession, and fighting began after the Confederacy used force to seize U.S. federal property within its boundaries.

So #94 you AGAIN proved yourself to be a dumbass.

[...] For instance, Chuck Hagel (R-NE), a member of the Senate Foreign Relations Committee, a Congress critter who should be up to speed on the neocon agenda. “I think you could make a pretty strong case that things are worse off in the Middle East today than they were three years ago,” Hagel told Meet the Propaganda, er Press. “By measurement of Iraq, by Iran, by the Palestinian-Israeli issue, what’s going on in Egypt. And, I think the United States must use its force of diplomacy to engage Iran.” [...]

Of course things are worst off in Iraqi now than they were 3 years ago. It's about time a Republican admitted the truth about this war. I know lots of Democrats wouldn't vote for Senator Hagel, but I would because he tells it like it is. People called Sen. McCain the straight talk express, but he had proven to be a flip flopper because he wants to be President. What McCain didn't realize was that he was in the middle where most American are on the War.

Hurray for Sen. Chucky Hagel, may he continue to tell the truth to the American people. I love this guy! Good Job Chuck

Perhaps that should be our response to all of their ad hominem attacks and smear campaigns? Would be effective :)
