Neil Volz, Rep. Bob Ney’s (R-OH) former top aide testified today in the trial of David Safavian, saying that when he worked for Abramoff, he received help from not only from Ney, but also Rep. Shelley Moore Capito (R-WV), Rep. Don Young (R-AK), and Rep. Steven LaTourette (R-OH).
wow. that’s pretty huge. maybe they should just start listing the republicans that /aren’t/ under indictment…
May 30th, 2006 at 12:36 pmDirty, dirty, dirty. Looks like more of the same for the Republican party.
May 30th, 2006 at 12:41 pmGo figure…
MSM response:
He also passed Harry Reid in the congressional hallway one day…….. therefore Harry is involved in this bi-partisan scandal……
May 30th, 2006 at 12:42 pmR, R, R, where are the D’s?

May 30th, 2006 at 12:51 pmWhen this first group gets indicted then they will roll on the Dems that were the masterminds of this all. Then President Lex Luthor will pardon them.
Here’s how this will be reported:
Ney’s aide said that while working for Abramoff, he received help from several Republican congresspersons. But Democrats have ethics problems too, and Abramoff directed clients to give to Democrats. My god, have the Democrats no shame? Corruption has stricken both sides of the aisle, but really the Democrats more than the Republicans. Hey, remember that thing with Clinton and his intern? See what I mean?
May 30th, 2006 at 1:00 pmRICO, RICO, RICO, RICO!!!
May 30th, 2006 at 1:02 pmIsn’t it amazing how the “Party of God” (as Bugboy DeLay once called it) is so crooked they make a snake look like a yard stick. Who’d a thunk, huh, with God on their side??
May 30th, 2006 at 1:02 pmBut it’s Democrats that have an authenticity problem.
May 30th, 2006 at 1:06 pm#9 – Your point?
May 30th, 2006 at 1:25 pmAt this point in American politics, I would say the majority of ethical breaches tend to be committed more by Republicans. But, to be fair, some Democrats have crossed the line.
BushCo. are, though, the most dishonest bunch Washington has seen since Nixon. When there is a “regime change” in 2008 it will be interesting to see what develops.
All I ask is for a fair election, then again, with Diebold Machines (Republican controlled) — that may be asking for too much.
May 30th, 2006 at 1:28 pmGood thing we have an inspirational, qualified and ethical President, an Attorney General that rigorously enforces the law, a Congress that forcuses on composing fair and firm legislation over the interests of potential donors, and a court that impartially judges the constitutionality of law. Yes, these things make America great.
In theory, anyway…
May 30th, 2006 at 1:44 pmDrew – where do you live? I am moving there!!!
May 30th, 2006 at 1:45 pmSorry Jules, no such luck… it’s Dreamland.
Even if we can’t have these things could we at least get people who were smart enough to make us think we did?
May 30th, 2006 at 1:52 pm#10- I thought it was clear, but my point is that on the one hand while you have Republicans taking money for votes and suppressing labor rights and destroying the environment and our reputation abroad and allowing torture and making a mess of Iraq and Afghanistan and our fiscal solvency and generally trashing the Constitution and the federal government, on the other hand Al Gore might not have gone to France when he was 15 and Nancy Pelosi wears makeup and stuff.
May 30th, 2006 at 2:00 pmBut it’s Democrats that have an authenticity problem.

So Rebuplicans are authentically crooked?

So true. So sad.
I hope this story gains speed before they return from their “working” vacation.

May 30th, 2006 at 2:11 pmIn light of the MSM love affair with Bush&Co, I am afraid your comments will prove to be more accurate than sarcastic.

The sarcasm is hot today! I love it!

THAT is what truly has me worried as the Rethugs see the writing on the wall for November. They’ll “fix” the elections.
Let’s take a vote…
May 30th, 2006 at 2:15 pmAye or Ney?
I vote ‘Aye’; round up the whole bunch
for branding…‘You’re not fit for
holding public office, therefore, we’ll have
to brand you with an identifiable mark on
your forehead.’
What should the brand be?
-A $ sign?
-A Horse’s Ass?
Suggestions Welcome!
what else do you need to realize what is happening in the beautiful America?
It’s time for the People in the United States to wake up…

May 30th, 2006 at 2:19 pm#15 – I thought that might be it, clb72, but I wanted to be sure.
Nancy Pelosi wears makeup? Horrors!
#20 – The crooked R
May 30th, 2006 at 2:27 pmB-b-b-but CLINTON!
May 30th, 2006 at 2:29 pm#20 – 2 more:
The words ethics on its side = Lazy ethics
May 30th, 2006 at 2:32 pmA horizontal bar with the words “no” and “bribes” stacked underneath = bar no bribes
THAT is what truly has me worried as the Rethugs see the writing on the wall for November. They’ll “fix†the elections
ME TOO!!!
Its not who votes….BUT WHO COUNTS THE VOTES…
I really think electoral fraud should be a wider covered issue on the LW blogs….because we all know how Ohio and Florida turned out….a couple of fradulent tallies in a few counities thru out the country could keep the Republican majority intact…..
The saving grace is if Americans can figure out that the 20 percent approval Repubs rigged the 2006 elections, the maybe maybe in the 08 Presidential elections we can get a fair shake
May 30th, 2006 at 3:05 pm#20 – A $ sign on the horse’s ass – indicating the congressperson took it up the *** for a contribution, or a golf game, or a hooker. Then again, we could just tatoo “whore” on every square inch of skin.
I tried to start naming all the scandals and participants and I can’t keep up!
May 30th, 2006 at 3:28 pmSlightly off topic – but in the world of politics it’s so hard to follow a story for very long. So I thought I would just mention…
They either don’t have a clue, they have forgotten, or the site really is a fake – but DEFENDDELAY.COM still has the Colbert Report clip on the main page.
Crazy…
May 30th, 2006 at 11:50 pmHell, I don’t even want to win next time. And inherit this ungodly mess? Let them clean it up!
