Specter angry about getting snubbed by Cheney.

In a three-page letter to Cheney, Specter complained about the Vice President’s unwillingness to cooperate on NSA eavesdropping oversight. “I was surprised, to say the least, that you sought to influence, really determine, the action of the Committee without calling me first. … This was especially perplexing since we both attended the Republican Senators caucus lunch yesterday and I walked directly in front of you on at least two occasions en route from the buffet to my table.”

The formation of backbone via percieved lack of communication? OK, so long it involves subpoena’s!

  2. Taters says:

Thanks for the lunch money, kid. Now SCRAM!
HaHa Specter thought he was in the cool-kids club. As Bugs Bunny might say: “What a maroon”.
Now hows about DOING YOUR FREAKIN JOB???
    …tool

  3. S.D. says:

Why does Sen. Specter even pretend?

He postures but apparently never intends to exercise any Oversight.

  4. cantson says:

Fox News reports that Cheney denies ever having met Specter. According to Cheney, “I frequently attend Senate sessions and have done so as Vice President since 2001. I was also back and forth from my seat to the buffet table quite a few times during the caucus lunch yesterday and frankly I have never met Senator Specter nor heard of him until I received his letter.”

  5. clif says:

I for one believe dead eye …hell he though a full grown man was a quail…wonder how many “birds” he saw at the lunchen?

  6. WC says:

Cheney’s response to Specter (with apologies to Smokey and the Bandit):

“Do the letters F Y mean anything to you?”

  7. Your conscience says:

Address it to Bush, he will get it quicker

  8. Zookeeper says:

Specter has to wait to get the okey dokey from Cheney on ANYTHING? Specter can’t just tell “Dick” to get bent, and call the hearing anyway? What am I missing here?

  9. Your conscience says:

The Honorable (cough) Richard B. Cheney
    Vice President
    White House,

    Crybaby Eunich Specter

  10. GSD says:

Change your pads Specter. You are a sellout dink head without an ounce of moral courage.

Let’s see how quickly he drops this moment of feigned outrage once Cheney and Bush bit back.

  11. beemer says:

Give me a break. Specter isn’t mad at Cheney at all. This little bit of kabuki allows Specter to look like he wants to actually do his job, while not having to put his fellow Republican on the spot for breaking the law.

Watch the press eat it up.

  12. Stupid Republicans says:

    All republicans are stupid.

    A waste of skin.

  13. Miro says:

Cafferty got it right. The guy’s a worm. He handed us over to “mother” Hatch who’s going to negotiate with psychotic Big-(butt-f–ck-the-kids)-Daddy Cheney.

  14. Jay Randal says:

Specter is most likely playacting for the press feigning outrage, but Republicans do occasionally eat each other, so let us hope the GOP sharks are hungry > lol.

  15. redneck hick says:

Specter also wants to know why Cheney never calls him anymore. Specter better get with the program and give Bush more power or the cool kids won’t let him sit at their table in the lunchroom.

  16. redneck hick says:

Gosh darn it, and this time he really was going to exercise Congressional oversight!

Oh well, maybe next time ;)

  17. Piper says:

You guys are such intellectually superior folks (NOT). I especially liked the #12 comment. Talk about a room with a room temp IQ. Whew. Remember we at the NSA are watching you!

  18. Mesell Malkintent says:

We are supposed to believe this?

Specter has been running around for a while, in itself an amazing feat considering he has the spineless democrat disease. Specter and Cheney, like the slugs they are, left trails of slime as a slug leaves on your concrete overnight and that neither one noticed the slimy trail the other left behind, and that one couldn’t follow the slime of the other?

You know the White House is actually more like the WWF or some kind of wacked out soap opera, perhaps a Saturday nite live skit.

In reality it’s a perverse sick joke on the people of America and the World with the MSM playing the part of the Jester.

    Not Funny.

  19. Jay Randal says:

LOL post 17 Piper > you are one of those pimple faced guys at the NSA who listen to calls while pulling their puds in excitement? Boy read all the posts on here and get horny > lol.

  20. Zookeeper says:

Piper types well with one hand…

  21. OxyConservative says:

Specter is being Cheney’s bitch. Has been for 5 years now. Since he is my Senator, I just wrote him to let him know that enough is enough. Words are meaningless. It’s time for him to do the job he was elected to do and to stop being a Bush enabler.

  25. clif says:

Jay he has done the same thing at Raw Story eariler this week…make me think it is a troll paid to completely disrupt the threads and have most leave in disgust

  26. clif says:

U.S. officials: Al-Qaida in Iraq leader Abu Musab al-Zarqawi has been killed.

This is all over the MSM news

  27. clif says:

Jay I played with it for a while..and it did not break character…but it seemed to when don’t feed the trtolls confronted it…

  30. Tom In Maine says:

I think we have been down this road before with Specter. He comes out like he really going to put pressure on this administration and finally excersise a check in our cherished checkand balance system that gives those of us that want to see that system restored some hope .

But as Jack Cafferty of CNN so eloquently put it, when it comes down to brass tacks he knuckles under to the Cheney and Rove one two punch and becomes what we have all seen before from him and others of his party, just another “Gutless Republican Worm”.

It really does appear to me and I think to many others from the various post that I have read that all is lost for this democracy of ours. There seems to be no light at the end of this dark tunnel that this administration, this congress and the main stream media has put us in. Sad but true.

  31. jorge says:

Maybe Sen. Spector now knows how the rest of us feel getting ignored by Chaney.

    He’s WAITING!!!!!

  33. Senator John Cornyn's $22,000 Day Trip to Texas says:

I don’t belive Specter anymore than I do Rice or Bush or Pat Roberts.

  35. Marty Didier says:

Behavior says everything since words are only music. Cheney is acting like he’s freaking out since he is in something much bigger and wants to make sure he’s safe. He acts as though he’s totally out of control and there’s a good reason for this. Do you the reason why?

Also, there’s something really big laying underneath all of this that should be easier to see only if you back away and look at it from afar. However, in order to see it, you’ll have to accept that “Cheney’s worry” also extends beyond our shores.

This is the stuff Conspiracies are made of, however shocking it is unfortunately it’s true. I lived in it for half my life because I was in a family for more than 26 years who is part of this. The best has yet to surface!

  36. GensPrimoris says:

Ladies and Gentlemen,It’s about never giving up in the face of nefarious activities such as this and more by Cheney and his cohort of foulness. Specter needs to hear from you and me, it will give him more of a spine. It’s simple, just play your position. As a citizen, I know my position is to fight the erosion of my rights by doing something, by speaking up, by actively enjoying the liberties that are ours. Numbers mean everything, especially ours. Make Your Voice Heard.

  37. Bill Polk says:

It seems to me that lobbying congress NOT to issue subpoenas in order to investigate (in part) whether crimes might have been committed comes pretty close to obstruction of justice on the part of Cheney.
