Pentagon Papers published 35 years ago today.

TinyRevolution marks the anniversary by highlighting a new op-ed by Vietnam-era whistle-blower Daniel Ellsberg, and a flashback of President Bush’s answer when he was asked two weeks before the Iraq invasion, “What can you say tonight, sir, to the sons and the daughters of the Americans who served in Vietnam to assure them that you will not lead this country down a similar path in Iraq?”

We need another Daniel Ellsberg but we also need more importantly a Congress and Senate that are loyal to americans and America in that order and not to Lobbyists and bushists

  2. Randy says:

Yet another failed attempt by the left to compare Iraq to Vietnam. Sorry, your strategy won’t work this time. Time to add another page in the hippie playbook!

  3. drtomaso says:

What do you mean it won’t work? The parrallels between Iraq and Vietnam are uncanny. Except for one- unlike Vietnam (which was lost at home), Iraq is simply unwinnable- always was, and we all the subject matter experts (read: military experts) knew that. Thats the inconvenient truth the right tries desperately to hide from by calling the left ‘hippies’.

I’ll let you call me a ‘hippie’ if I can call you a ‘nazi.’ Sound fair?

Why do you hate America so much?

  5. krazny says:

Yet another failed attempt by teh right to demonize anyone who speaks out against the war in Iraq. Your strategy won’t work Randy. Time to add another page the nazi playbook.

  6. drtomaso says:

I love it- just hate what you are turning it into.

  7. Randy says:

Wait a minute, didn’t they just install a new government in Iraq? I must have missed something. Tell me again, how is Iraq unwinnable? Oh, its unwinnable for the libs since they once again, are on the wrong side of history. I need to look at it from your prospective.

  8. drtomaso says:

You mean the shiny new government that would collapse were it not for the +200k US troops propping it up? Is that really what you call a ‘win’?

Since when is liberalism on the wrong side of history? We have several hundred years of successful history, starting right around 1776. Now the modern republican party, the closest paralell is Germany, circa 1939. That lasted 6 years, and can’t really be called a success since the free world rose up and put it in its place.

Heres my perspective: the modern Republican party is not conservative. It’s national socialism.

  9. kindness says:

Randy, Randy, Randy. Your welfare check comes on the 1st, you’ve already blown it on hookers, cheap liquor & beer and now you have nothing left to do for the rest of the month but go online and annoy liberals.

    You are one sorry guy.

Its unwinnable just like Vietnams was because you either commit all out genocide or else you dont succeed when you are in somebody elses home land. If the tables were turned and it was Saddam doing this to America and he had a puppet Bush as president would you bend over and take it? Or would you be saying that Bush government is illegit and you will continue to kill the occupiers? Hmmmmmm?

Ya I thought so. You would turn in your flag and salute Saddam-Bush as your new leader.

And dont forget the LEFT was on the correct side of history in 1776 … not you “loyalist/conservative” types that were too scared/inlovewith the King of England.

And also dont forget who led America through WWII … it sure wasnt Republicans.

But you can claim the Civil War if you want … even though the south joined the republicans because of their anger over the civil rights movement which pretty much makes the current republicans the equivilant of the democrats during the 1800s.

Yet another failure by Randy to have a relvant discussion.
Point of the post is to show Bush lied.
read the link, then come back and discuss the issue with the adults, you can read right?
Just in case your toolazy to click on the link Randy:

Q What can you say tonight, sir, to the sons and the daughters of the Americans who served in Vietnam to assure them that you will not lead this country down a similar path in Iraq?

THE PRESIDENT: That’s a great question. Our mission is clear in Iraq. Should we have to go in, our mission is very clear: disarmament…. it’s very clear what we intend to do. And our mission won’t change. Our mission is precisely what I just stated.
    —————————————————–

Now defend your lying sack-o-crap repugnican president.

I think that says it all.

  13. Ho Chi Minh says:

Randy, I don’t see YOUR ass in the army. BTW, I did not turn hippie until AFTER I was drafted during the Vietnam War and saw first-hand the BS about that war piling up so fast that you needed wings to stay above it. The parallels between 1966 and 2006 are deja vu, since I’ve seen it before. So, until you’ve been there, just shut the f*ck up!!!!

  14. Rebel With A Cause says:

Randy is just another one of those mis-guided pukes who insists that the US won the Vietnam War by fleeing in helicopters landing on the roof of the embassy in Saigon. with the North Vietnamese hot on our tails.

What a deluded asshole. It was that great puke Kissinger who insisted that we won the war with dignity and honor.

I dont know who spews the worst bull, Randy or Kissinger, but I do know one thing, both of them are blazing fag liars.

  17. Marie says:

Ellsberg had a lot of courage to do what he did – and it nearly cost him everything.
There don’t seem to be many people like him in government today.
Whistle blowers today are paraiahs, the latest of many being Russell Tice of the NSA. Those who aren’t marginalized or accused of being insane are ignored and eventually are forgotten.

  18. Randy says:

I have come to the conclusion that all liberals are assholes. Period. Your movement is in its dying days. Thats why you guys continue to lose elections. You guys want to appease the rest of the world by negotiating with terrorist just like you thought we could with the Soviet Union. Well, its pretty clear to me that history proved Reagan right. I can’t wait until after the November elections to hear what kooky conspiracy theories your side dreams up to explain why you lost. Maybe, someday, the democratic party will realize that it has been taken over by the extreme left and is doomed to fail. Although I doubt it.

  19. Randy says:

Your movement is dying. That is why you need more “victoms” and why you support amnesty for illegal immigrants so that you can rebuild your base. Well, I can assure you that will never happen. What kind of country do you want to live in where people do not respect the actual laws. Why should the illegals get peferential treatment over those who have waited years to immigrate to this country. Wouldn’t it be easier just to annex Mexico? RIP Liberals 2006!

  20. Randy says:

Let me ask this question, if the Iraq war is such an unjust war, why is re-enlistment at such record levels? With unemployment at record lows (4.7%) the troops are not signing up again because they can’t get jobs at home. Its obvious they believe in the mission and I would believe those statistics over any garbage generated from this site or most of the liberal MSM.

  21. Ho Chi Minh says:

Randy, in the dictionary under asshole, it sayz to see you(and trannie Coulter, Lush Limpwrist, IRI, GW Bush, K Rove, Hannity, 5-deferment Dick, Dick(anvil)head, and trolls in general).

  22. Amy says:

#21, Gosh, Randy, maybe those big signing bonuses have something to do with it?

New budget includes signing bonuses for Army recruits

Prior Service Cash Bonuses Up To $150,000 For Selected Programs.

  23. vixen says:

I am a hippie from the 60’s I remember Vietnam and I know about all the mia’s and pow’s.. Has everyone forgotten? There are a lot of similarities to this war and the other……too many lives lost for a lie…vixen
