Ezra Klein responds to the right wing’s “same old canards about wage increases decimating jobs.” “The minimum wage, of course, doesn’t decide employment on its own,” he writes, and “any attempt to correlate minimum wage increases with joblessness falls on its face.” (He has the graphs to prove it.)
House Speaker Dennis Hastert (R-IL) has mixed his private interests with official business. Hastert “has used an Illinois trust to invest in real estate near the proposed route of the Prairie Parkway, a highway project for which he’s secured $207 million in earmarked appropriations.”
At Take Back America 2006, Sen. Russ Feingold (D-WI) calls for troop withdrawal from Iraq, stresses that wiretapping terrorists must be done within the law, and throws aside the Bush administration’s “war on terror” rhetoric.
And finally: Liberal bloggers start a YearlyKos 2006 group on Flickr, highlighting photos from the week’s conference.

For these fifteen items, Coulter appears to do little more than remove the parentheses and slightly change a word or two, such as “using” into “with.”

(1) Specter’s new May 11th proposal for FISA “reform” would provide Bush with a defense to the commencement of impeachment proceedings based on illegal NSA spying as it expressly ratifies Bush’s prior illegal acts and also provides amnesty from criminal prosecution to Bush, administration officials and telecom executives who participated in NSA spying programs pursuant to Bush’s constitutional authority. The new Specter proposal also provides that the controlling principle in FISA is that all provisions must be consistent with Bush’s inherent constitutional presidential authority. And, the big whopper is that the new provisions are RETROACTIVE to the DATE OF ENACTMENT of FISA, which is 1978, or well before Bush assumed office.
(2) There is now a video of Marine singing song that glorifies the killing of innocent Iraqi family.

Was it Cheney’s daughter… seems it was some woman related to the Bush team. Anyhow, with a pretty steady stream of bad news about videos and songs and intentional killings and the like, does not seem that person is doing such a great job. It’s not just the initial act but the military statements afterwards where they just keep sticking their foot in their mouth.

US citizens seem to be very sensitive when it comes to the troops, due to (my guess) a generalized idea that you hold global leadership and these poor guys are scattered all over the world overthrowing governments just to satisfy economical interests. Of course, leaders are to blame, but US is a country of choices, right? (that is very common motto) then, they can choose. I would choose.

i think the attitude is formed before basic - bigotry and racism are learned at home… i see it around here all the time… even this far north, plenty of confederate flag stickers… but this brand of “brown people” have been even more hated and scorned, and it seems that those attitudes are based on ignorance, not just simple intolerance… i’ve heard the term “sand n___er” far too many times - and often directed at Indian nationals… it’s sheer stupidity… and sad…
but, yes, add to that instructions on killing - volatile combination…

According to the article at Raw Story - she gave no reference or acknowledgment in any regard. The passages were unreferenced as if she’d come up with them herself. I don’t know about the Right to Life website. I didn’t go there. I consider them a tainted source anyway.

Her law degree suggests to me that she is either too lazy (or, in her anorexic case - too malnourished) to do the work, delusional (from lack of eating), or just immoral and arrogant enough to think she could make a buck off someone else’s words (how very neocon of her).
Should be interesting to see if she responds…

Raw News had an example of a mistake made by “60 minutes” about Charles Pickering in 2004 and then repeated by Ann Coulter in her book. Actually this is a quote from Rude Pundit shown in Raw News. I haven’t looked at the original 60 minutes transcript and have not bought “Godless”.

I support increasing the minimum wage because low-wage earners often struggle to stay above the poverty line.
The minimum wage issue is on Lee’s platform. He believes that all workers should earn a fair and decent wage. The cost of living is continually up. Utility prices, food prices, gas prices. But the minimum wage is not going up. This makes it more difficult for people earning the minimum wage because they can’t keep up with the rising costs of everything.
Congress is aware of the rising cost of living. They passed a pay raise for themselves to account for the increasing cost of living. It is time to ensure that working families, too, can keep up with the cost of living.
Lee Harris is a big supporter of increasing the minimum wage, like I said earlier. Last week, he sponsored a benefit concert for waiters and waitresses to raise awareness of the plight of servers who often are paid low wages and do not receive any benefits. Lee also supports setting a timeframe for withdrawing from Iraq. It is time to bring our troops home.
