Homeland Insecurity.

According to a new Department of Homeland Security report, New Orleans is still unprepared for another catastrophic hurricane more than 10 months after Katrina. Washington, D.C. and New York don’t meet guidelines for responding to major disasters. The shortcomings in emergency planning, including antiquated and uncoordinated response guidelines, are cause “for significant national concern,” Homeland Security’s analysis concluded.

That's what happens when Republicans are in charge of National Security.

    All talk and no actions.

  2. DrSinker Says:

So, basically, it's going to take another national disaster sometime this fall to remind people that the Republicrooks are not worthy of governing. Why am I not happy about that?

  3. Hardy Haberman Says:

Never again should Democrats let Republicans beat the drum of "National Security". They must hammer this fact into the consciousness of the American people: "The Republicans are incompetent and corrupt and will do nothing to protect you." That is unless it puts lots of cash in the pockets of big business.

  4. organic mutant Says:

If Democrats cannot stomp a Republican Congress that has demonstrated this level of incompetence, there is no hope. If facts like this do not embolden our Democratic leaders to speak a unified and frank message of the dangers of Repubplican rule, then we are left waiting -as Dr. Sinker stated - for yet another disaster, to jolt the people of this nation out of our slumber. Please, please don't do that to us.

It's called a Dictatorship, you can't take over the world unless you own it's only defense. Perhaps the sheeple could start a "Velveta Revolution."

[...] You think all of those legislators in Louisiana would be working to make sure they are safe for the upcoming hurricane season, or working on repairing the still in much need of help New Orleans. But no, instead they spend their time listening to one of my all time favorite jokes, Jack Thompson. Louisiana has passed a law to restrict video games content. Putting on hold the whole first amendment issue here, my favorite line in the whole bill says the game can be restricted if: “The game, taken as a whole, lacks serious literary, artistic, political, or scientific value for minors.” First, I think I can make the case for anything having artistic or literary merit. Second, I know I can make the case that a lot of the crap they have kids read in High School English does not have literary, or artistic merit. Third, raise your hand if you want the government deciding the “literary or artistic merit” of a work. (Would all those with raised hands please report to boats to be taken to a remote island.) Finally, raise your hand if you think the government is capable of determining “scientific merit.” (All those with raised hands please refer to the governments policies to favor Intelligent Design and not recognize global warming, and if you still think the government can decide scientific merit, please report to the department of “You are no longer smart enough to vote.”) [...]

Hey 59,000,000+ idiot voters -- feel safe now? Chumps...

  9. Jay Randal Says:

I would not be a bit surprised if New Orleans was completely destroyed by a category 5 hurricane this summer, with nothing left not even the French Quarter, and if that happened Bush would just send in Blackwater mercenary thugs to shoot anybody who survives!

Sadly Jay I agree with you...Like everything, may I enphasize (everything) in this administration is run by greedy gistapo types. Smart enough to use fear and hate to insight their base and distroy all in their way for the big take over one bill or amendment at a time..The people that support this bunch, many are 2500 years behind still looking to their bible for present day answers by their own interpretation. They as a group still don't get it that like any book or actual event in life it is seen diffrently by each individual reading or seeing that event... Many did not see on CNN during the Katrina mess the blackhawks or what ever they are called, at gun point evacuating people who didn't need to be evacuated........Given the fact all this is run by rove/ bush and including their point man(zombi) chertoff it should not be a suprise when we are all rounded up and put in their camps hurricane or not. We are living in terrible times, but most still can't see.....As long as they can buy, borrow and spend they will not listen. Each event in the last 5 years I thought would wake the public up, untill it affects them each personaly they continue to ignore their fellow man. I hope I live long enough to see the pendlum swing back and our country start the healing and cleaning up the huge distruction these people in power have created.....Shame on our country by this administration and their supporters like the saudis is going to be a huge thing to turn around.......Blessings

  11. Jay Randal Says:

Post 11 > America under the Bush Regime has gone completely insane, but so did Germany under Hitler, so if we survive the Dubya Dunce Decider Dictator, then like Germany after Hitler we might return to sanity again > one can hope anyways!

  12. Marie Says:

    Republicans are incapable of governing.
What they are very capable of, however, is lining their own pockets.
    9/11 happened on their watch, through Bush's neglect and dismissive attitude; Katrina happened on their watch, also through neglect and a dismissive attitude;
the anthrax poisonings on their watch have never been solved. Investigations into incompetence and neglect if not downright criminal activity by the administration have been stymied on their watch. Civil freedom and liberties guaranteed by the Constitution have been eroded on their watch, while they focus on private family matters.
They cannot and will not govern fairly and responsibly. Corruption has taken over their party.

  13. beep52 Says:

Repubs can't govern because they're too busy creating new realities -- or resurecting rselective ealities from thousands of years ago -- rather than dealing with the here and now in a rational manner. They do seem to get elected, though....

  14. My Take on it ... Says:

This Republican majority has been weak on National Security. They talk a big game, but their inactions to stop 9-11 and inept preparedness for Katrina puts this debate to rest.
