House passes sham Iraq resolution.

The House votes 256-153 on a resolution linking Iraq to the “war on terror,” and opposing a timetable. “42 Democrats broke ranks and joined with all but three Republicans to support the resolution.”

I woule like to hear the Democrats explain why they voted for this. I can’t think of any reason why they would unless they think they need it for political cover. What about voting on principle?

  2. Zookeeper says:

This was a complete and utter waste of time. They could have been doing something with the minimum wage issue.

Democrats get your shit together! We — Americans — cannot take another minute, let alone several more years of this crap. Move!

  3. cynicalgirl says:

2/3 of the country is against it. Why are the Democrats caving?

  4. calguy says:

Who are those dems and why did they cave? They need to hear from constituents in their districts.

  5. Solitaire says:

Actually, it’s an improvement on the part of the Dems. I mean, a year ago, before Murtha and Feingold started speaking up, 100% of the Dems would have voted for this resolution… out of PURE FEAR.
So, we still have a few cowards running around the Dem aisle, that can be fixed in November.

  6. Jon says:

Well no s**t an: “”arbitrary date for the withdrawal or redeployment” of troops is not in the national interest.”

How about a real one? This was a complete waste of time. Every single of these people have to go in November. I have been holding on to a hope that putting Democrats in charge could save us from this mess, but when they voted to extend the Patriot Act I became dissillusioned. Now its just plain obvious that they are all completely insane.

  7. For Truth says:

Who votes on principle anymore? Yes the Dems are trying to gain political power, which in the larger picture, could still be a productive thing.

  8. Marie says:

This is just too damn frustrating. Democrats are schizophrenic in their attempt to be politically correct and they are making the worst choices.
A colossal waste of time, but these votes will be used as propaganda against the Democrats and liberals of America, so the Rethugs get what they want.

  9. bobcat_grad says:

Good thing they got all of the important issues like the national debt, a better energy policy, global warming, reformed public education, healthcare for the 45 million uninsured Americans, and the astronomical increase in health care costs all figured out. Now they can waste time on gay marriage, flag burning amendments, and pointless resolutions that are only in play in preparation for the attack ads in November.

    Leadership: GOP style.

  10. unbelievable says:

    So much for chastizing Jefferson…

    Heil Hitler! I mean, Bush!

  11. Gary Ruppert says:

Only Six Democrats voted for the surrender plan in the Senate. Every other Democrat knew that it was a bad idea.

Most Democrats only advocate surrender in the War on Terror, when it comes time to vote, they refuse to put themselves on that side.

Remember that only three Democrats voted for the Murtha surrender plan in December.

As for this resolution, it doesn’t surprise me that over a hundred Democrats said that we would lose the War on Terror. They’ve been working hard to make sure that we lose the War on Terror.

Those 42 Democrat House members just shot their own asses off in the process > I hope every one of them is voted out in November! All Repubs must be voted out and Dem traitors as well!

  14. bobcat_grad says:

Those of you who are jumping on the Democrats, realize this:

This resolution was a political ploy by the GOP to get members of Congress on record for the upcoming mid-term election attack ads. This resolution means nothing in all practicality, but come November, you can expect to see this on your local tv station:

[Dark colors. Black and white images of Democratic canidate looking angry]

Voice over: “{insert Democratic canidate here} hates our troops. He/she wants to cut and run. Is it because he/she is a coward, or just a quitter?

[Bright vibrant colors. Puppies, butterflies, and a priest.]

Voice over “{insert Republican canidate here} loves our troops and wants to help the world be a better place. God would vote for this guy/girl. He/she can probably cure cancer if given the chance to be your elected official. Vote Republican. Why, you may ask? Because this ad says so.”

  15. Humanist says:

The USA is supposed to be the shining beacon of capitalism, but it seems that you no longer understand the concept. Let me explain.

With the news of this atrocity and affront to your most needy citizens, one of your large corporations should take a stand and make the following statement:

“We, the ACME Corporation, cannot sit idly by while our most valuable resource, our employees, are ignored and abandoned by their wealthy representatives in congress. Therefore, effective immediately, we have put into effect a minimum wage increase to $X.XX per hour. We value our employees and their welfare above all else and we will not allow the shortsighted and morally incomprehensible actions of misguided representatives to compromise our employees, our families, or our neighbors and friends.”

You can see the “win-win” situation that such would create. That, my friends, is capitalism. Unfortunately, for reasons that are beyond me, you believe that “exploitism = capitalism”, of which nothing could be further from the truth.

  16. Drew Mackenzie says:

I dare anyone to name a single thing that our government stands for anymore.

It isn’t democracy, with a one-and-a-half-party system that only accepts wealthy applicants and redraws districts to avoid equal representation.

It isn’t peace, when we wage war and refuse to say under what conditions we might stop.

It isn’t freedom, when we bypass the law, the courts, our constitutional authority, and out treaties to perform any action at any moment to justify our aims.

It isn’t religion, when we write policy that commands us to sin.

It isn’t humanity, when we dehumanize others and slaughter them like animals.

It isn’t profitablity, when we plummet further into record debt.

It isn’t charity, when we reduce services and aid to ourselves and others.

It isn’t preservation, when we laugh at science and destroy the environment.

It isn’t friendship, when we are the most hated people in the world.

It isn’t revenge, when we have punished other countries for their abuses and refuse to stop our aggression.

It isn’t knowledge, when we eliminate research, attack our universities, and destroy information.

It isn’t freedom, when we are not free to speak our mind, are not free from warrentless search, and are detained without charge or defense.

So, what do we stand for? If the answer is “American Values” then more detail is required – because it does not include any of the above.

    Comment by Jay Randal — June 16, 2006 @ 1:30 pm

Come back off the ledge Jay. They probably voted for this to avoid the possibility of their vote coming back to bite them on the ass in Novemeber. Remember, this vote was a ‘resolution.’ It had no legal ramifications at all. They could pass a resolution hoping to make every Thursday ‘Sloppy Joe Day’ in the Congressional Cafeteria. Doesn’t mean lunch lady would have to abide by it.

Put this in perspective. Knee jerk reactions will not turn the tide. Careful planning and strategic decisions will. I think the Dems that voted for this were just thinking ahead. Let the GOP have there new cycle trying to say that Congress supports the Bush administration’s stance on Iraq. 70% of America doesn’t. And they know that.

  18. Humanist says:

My apologies, it seems that I posted my comment on the wrong thread.

  19. bobcat_grad says:

    Humanist -

Go find a Republican blog and yell at them. You don’t need to convince us. We’re tired of the direction this country is headed, too.

  20. Jay Randal says:

Post 15 bobcat > yes but the Democrats keep falling into the GOP trap on Iraq! Since the vote was a sham, all the Democrats should have walked out or refused to vote yes or no on it! The amendment would just have GOPer votes for it which would look stupid for them!

  21. Gary Ruppert says:

The Leftist Democrat purge against Patriotic Democrats is currently a failure.

The leftists failed to defeat Lipinski, they failed to defeat Cuellar, they failed to defeat Jane Harman. They will fail to defeat Joe Lieberman too.

The fact is that those 42 Democrats know that their party’s stand on Iraq is guaranteed to cost them the House.

Liberal Democrats like Howard Berman, Carolyn McCarthy, and Stephen Lynch voted the right way on this issue.

Surrendering to terrorism in Iraq only guarantees that the terrorists will come to America and try to take down our nation.

In fact, the situation in Iraq isn’t too dire. For one thing, all of Iraq is safer than Democrat towns like Detroit, Chicago, and Washington DC.

  22. Humanist says:

    #20-bobcat_grad,

Yes, and I see that your efforts to address the situation are working so well.

Post 18 > Americans are angry at everyone in the Congress at present > every time Dems fall for the cheese, or cave out of cowardice, it comes back to bite them! I am a Democrat, but I will not vote for cowards who refuse to stand up to Bush and the GOP on Iraq fiasco!

Every time Nancy Pelosi fails to police her House Democrats, she lessons the chances of taking back the House of Representatives in November! Nobody likes hypocrites!

  25. Jane E. Schneider says:

Those bastards! Are all politicians brain-dead? How could anyone not see that this “resolution” was a complete sham, a waste of paper, time, and our tax dollars.

  26. Corinne says:

HR 861 is the psychic hotline of bills. It predicts the future in its very opening line: “the United States will prevail in the Global War on Terror.” The rest of the bill is just a “O, Hail Great leader” list of the many and sundry “accomplishments” of the war…

  27. Jon says:

WASHINGTON (AP) — The House stripped Democratic Rep. William Jefferson of his committee seat on Friday in an unprecedented action against a lawmaker ensnared in scandal, but not under indictment.

The move came on a voice vote, without debate, and capped an election-year effort by House Democrats to seize the political high ground on the issue of lawmaker ethics.

    … wow

  30. Marie says:

“Cut and run” could be countered with “stay and die”

  31. milbog says:

    #18

There’s something not quite right with your logic. If you say the majority of Americans do not support the war, why on earth would any democrat ever vote for this resolution. It seems to me to be a winning strategy. That is unless of course they know the polling data is rigged and they will get killed in the fall if they voted against it.

  32. umbra says:

“Cut and run” is exactly that, when we have terrorist in NY City where do we run to then?

  33. Jon says:

Cut the bulls**t and let Iraqis Run Iraq.

    I don’t see the problem.

  34. Spudge_Boy says:

I know, I pleaded with my republican dad to not chaperone my half bothers scholl trip to Washington DC, because it is so much more dangerous than Iraq.

You could say that he was pretty stumped, because he has been pushing the same stupid statistics that you are.

Once again, there isn’t one person here that buys your bullshit.

  35. Drew Mackenzie says:

#35 If we have a terrorist in NYC then our position in Iraq doesn’t mean $#!&.

  36. TripMaster Monkey says:

The Dems that voted for this resolution just validated Dubya & Company’s Iraq policy, while the Dems that voted against it will inevitably be painted as ‘insufficiently committed’ to the War on Terror (TM). Either way, the Dems once again blundered into the Repubs’ trap.

The ONLY way the Dems could have avoided this trap and *really* unmasked this ‘resolution’ for the bullshit election-year propaganda it truly is would have been to simply abstain from the vote en masse. When the time came to call the vote, the Dems should have calmly stood up and LEFT. Sometimes, the only winning move is not to play.

  37. umbra says:

#38 Cut and run from iraq and see where your heroic freedom fighters choose their next target.

  38. Humanist says:

    #35-umbra,

Based upon you previous performance, I can tell you EXACTLY what you all would do.

    - Attack/invade a country that had nothing to do with terrorism or the terrorist attack on your country.
    - Kill hundreds of thousand of innocent people
    - Exploit the world’s sympathies for your own gain
    - Create a new haven and breeding ground for terrorism
    - Figure out a way for corruption and exploitation to run rampant so that your thieving corporations and individuals can extort money from your public treasury.
    - Repeat the cycle as many times as your population will fall for it.

The new industry in the USA is terrorism. And it is booming.

  39. Gary Ruppert says:

The Democrat’s typically feel better about not telling people what they really believe, they’ve done that for years with the voters.

  40. Jay Randal says:

Post 39 I agree 100% > the Democrats fell into a trap because the 42 who voted yes just pissed off their districts Democrat supporters, and the rest who voted no will get painted by Repubs in campaign ads as supporting terrorism or some other baloney! If the Democrats had all walked out or refused to vote on the GOP scam, then it would have backfired onto the Republicans, but Rep, Pelosi never sees the traps! The Dems have already lost the chance to take back the House in November > sad but true!

Wow, 41 you must have nightmares, all the suffering we are imposing on the innocent AQ and Talaban. You should do something about it. I understand they are recruiting new members as it seems they have lost a few recently. They also could use some money, sorry i dont have an address for you but i’m sure that person with your resources can find that out.

  43. TripMaster Monkey says:

    From Umbra’s recent post (#46):

Wow, 41 you must have nightmares, all the suffering we are imposing on the innocent AQ and Talaban.

Nice try, but there one little problem: Al Qaeda & the Taliban weren’t in Iraq before we executed our little ‘regime change’.

Sorry to ruin your irrational appeal to emotion with facts.

  44. Humanist says:

    #46-umbra,

I am concerned only about the murder and extermination of innocent humans. Therefore, currently my nightmares are haunted by Americans. As far as who has aligned themselves with terrorism and, therefore, are in league with Al Qaeda and other such deplorable beings, take a look in the mirror and observe the enemy of humanity.

  45. Jon says:

The Democrats seem to keep following the losing strategy of trying to be better Republicans than the Republicans instead of standing up for their true beliefs. What they don’t seem to understand is that if they finally decide to stop catering to the “center” of current existing voters and instead stood up for what they really believe like being against the war, then they would begin seeing voter turn outs for them like never before.

No one I know of is actually being represented in the House or Senate.

  46. marcus robinson says:

And who are the 42 Democrats??

  47. milbog says:

Why set a time table? Why give the enemy a date they can hold out for? When and only when the Iraqi security forces have been trained and are operating sufficiently to protect the Iraqi people, will troops come home. Right now there are about 60-70k available. I believe that a certain number of troops will be coming home in the near future because of the emergence of the Iraqi forces. What I don’t understand is why the democrats are so willing to “cut and run”?

  48. Jon says:

    51. Define “enemy”.

Many people are over there fighting simply because they want us to leave. They would stop fighting if they knew we were leaving.

What I can’t understand is why so many Republicans think a stop in violence is a bad thing.

  49. umbra says:

    Humanist
Ok, I looked in the mirror, still wont have any problems sleeping. Last I heard there are currently quite a few AQ and Talaban in Iraq and Afghanistan. I say its better to kill them there than here, all that cemetary space would ruin good house sites. Are you suggesting that our Armed forces are no better than AQ and the Talaban.

  50. ardee says:

WTF! Stop being sissies Dems!!!! How assinine was this bit of crap resolution!?!?!

  51. Spudge_Boy says:

I believe that a certain number of troops will be coming home in the near future because of the emergence of the Iraqi forces.

Wrong. Bushie is talking about sending another 22,00 troops to Iraq.

  52. Spudge_Boy says:

    umbra,

So, which branch did you serve in again. I think I missed it when you told everybody.

  53. Wayne A. Schneider says:

Why set a time table? Why give the enemy a date they can hold out for?

Exactly what do you mean by this? When you say “hold out”, do you mean they’ll stop the bombings until we leave?

What I don’t understand is why the democrats are so willing to “cut and run”?
    Comment by milbog — June 16, 2006 @ 2:57 pm

Why are you mischaracterizing the Democrats’ position? The only ones saying the Democrats want to “cut and run” (just like your beloved Ronald Reagan did in Lebanon) are the Republicans. Mr. Murtha’s idea is to withdraw to the horizon. That is NOT the same as cutting and running.

  54. Humanist says:

    #51-milbog,

“Cut and run”, that’s so cute and catchy a phrase, but its unjustly simplistic nature makes it both irrelevant and inappropriate. Any intelligent being of conscience already knows this.

The Iraq invasion was based on deception and evil intentions, this has already been exposed and is FACT. To know this and yet continue on the crusade is a logic of cowardice and extreme idiocy. Unfortunately it seems that such logic appeals to you in that you prefer to continue to MURDER people than to admit to your heinous mistakes and to correct your course immediately. Only a monumental moron with no courage or honor would rather continue to act in evil rather than risk being labeled a “quitter” by their comrades in evil.

Please stop murdering innocent people out here in the world. Or, if you must continue to murder, please keep it within your own borders so that you will help to rid the world of the most vile and evil creatures amongst its current inhabitants.

  55. umbra says:

Ok, this is from the AP, munitions for “cut and run” or an indication that yes humanist, there really is an iraqi governement and the d**n thing might just work.

    (AP) Iraq security handover ‘imminent’
    16 June 2006

The first handover of security responsibilities to Iraqi forces is set to go ahead next week, the first concrete step towards the withdrawal of coalition troops.

But any move would not mean British troops immediately leaving the relatively-peaceful al-Muthanna province in the south of the country, the Ministry of Defence indicated.

A report in Japan on Friday said British officials had told their counterparts that Iraqi Prime Minister Nouri Maliki would announce the transfer on Tuesday. It would be followed by an immediate announcement on coalition forces, it suggested.

Iraqi Deputy Prime Minister Salam Zikam Ali al-Zubaie confirmed only that there was an agreement to take over security responsibility this month.

Mr Browne said in May that “on current trends I would expect (al-Muthanna) to be ready to be handed over to provincial Iraqi control in the near future.

“The final decision on timing will, of course, be for the new Iraqi government, in close collaboration with the coalition.”

He warned it would not mean an immediate return of British troops. “But as the process of handover continues across other provinces, this will enable us progressively to draw down British troops,” he added.

A senior British official has said that two provinces in the British-controlled southern region could be handed over this summer. As well as al-Muthanna, Maysan province was “not far away” from being ready, he suggested.

  56. Wally O'Brien says:

    I think this actually great.

We’ve now got 156 representatives that actually took a stand against the President, the GOP and the war.

    Count the positives.

The GOP has taken a very big risk with this strategy.

We lost a skirmish, but we haven’t lost the war. (pun intended)

  57. Jon says:

Are you suggesting that our Armed forces are no better than AQ and the Talaban.

I would suggest that the Administration making the policy fits that description, not the “Armed forces” carrying out those decisions. (Nice try.)

  58. Spudge_Boy says:

    #60

You posted a link about British troops. Our fearless (read dumb ass) leader is planning on sending another 22,00 troops to Iraq. Why, because the “coalition of the willing” ain’t so willing anymore. The other countries have woken up to this failed policy of staying the course.

BTW: How do you stay the course, while turning corners?

  59. Jon says:

How do you stay the course, while turning corners?

Four right or left turns in a row brings you back to where you started… that sounds about right.

  60. umbra says:

Last I looked the brits were part of the coalition, controlling some ground just as we are. 22000 more troops sound good, too bad its not a complete division.

  61. Jon says:

    22000 more troops sound good

So, I take it that you agree with the General forced to resign for suggesting to Rumsfeld that we needed more troops to control Iraq after the invasion.

  62. Doug says:

I read that some select republicans (and at first, accidentally, some democrats) were given a 74-page “prep book” from the Pentagon on how to counter most criticisms of the Iraq situation – the AP got a hold of it and I can’t find it anywhere. If somebody finds it floating around out there can they post the link? thanks

  63. Humanist says:

According to a CNN poll, a majority of Americans, 53%, feel that the USA should set a timetable for withdrawal. Simultaneously your house of representatives, in a purely symbolic gesture, 63% of your present congresspeople vote against just that.

Now, I’m not going to advocate violence against those folks, but you all are aware of the time honored tradition of tossing tomatoes and cabbage?

Do you Americans have any self respect left or did you surrender that along with your freedoms and liberties?

  64. wonka says:

According to a poll i just pulled out of my butt, 110% of Americans disagree that foreigners should be able to make vast generalizations about national sentiment based on what their leaders are doing.

THANK YOU, BOBCAT – the lone voice of reason and understanding (in those 20s)

i’m listening to randi rhodes, as usual… she asks of those pissed off at dems if they even watched the proceedings in the house… the dems stood up and voiced their views and opinions and all that is NOW ON THE RECORD… if they had walked out that would not have happened…

this house resolution was a future campaign commercial – not much more…
of course the resolution passed – repugs are in the majority – but the dems have been heard and this will benefit them more than walking out would…

i wish dems would stop shooting themselves in the foot… we gotta work with what we’ve got – and right now all we’ve got is 2 parties – and the only way to change it is to take take the congress – AND THE ONLY WAY TO DO THAT IS TO VOTE IN OVERWHELMING NUMBERS SO THAT THE VOTE IS NOT EVEN CLOSE — THEY CAN’T STEAL IT IF IT ISN’T CLOSE!

    GET TOGETHER!!!

  66. Tobey Tall says:

American polititions Still live in fantasy world they will steal the oil contracts, now they are starving the people of medical supplies and electricity, food and water hoping that the Iraqi goverment gets fed up with the state of affairs and signs

America is also created the sectarian violence to justify staying in Iraq , do you seriously think america wants the Sunnis and Shiites to join forces against them – or course not

You will not ever get the oil contracts whatever you try to do in Iraq ,
the iraqi people will not allow America to steal the oil to first pay for the war and secondly to help the bankrupt American economy

  67. Humanist says:

    #68-wonka,

Before you finish wiping your ass with your own Constitution, please read it and then tell us “foreigners” where the buck stops in your government structure. (Hint: “of”, “for”, and “by” the people).

Cowards deflect responsibility to the most convenient scapegoat. Honorable people accept their responsibilities and display their bravery by doing whatever is necessary to correct their mistakes without causing further damage or grief, no matter how “uncomfortable” it may be. I understand that these concepts are foreign to you but request that you familiarize yourself with them immediately.

  68. David B says:

I’d like to know who the 42 dems were. They should be targeted for removal in the next two cycles.

  69. Humanist says:

    #72-David B,

Your problem is not 42 democrats. Your problem is 295 million Americans who are complicit in the murder of 100,000+ Iraqi children, women, and men and are doing nothing to stop the carnage other than arguing amongst themselves as to who G-d favors more. That’s your problem.

  70. Jay Randal says:

Post 72 the 42 Democrats are trying to hide out on their votes today > if they were proud of it, then they would be shouting it from the rooftops! The 42 hope the press does not publish the list of their names!

  71. wonka says:

Forgive my pessimism Philosopher Humanist, but do you actually think my goverment is really acting for the people? Why are we all so pissed off if they’re keeping our interests in mind?

And how can you even start a sentence with “you Americans” – is it that easy to lump us all together?

You must come from a place where your government is completely, utterly, directly representative of its citizens. Can i live in your country?

  72. Tobey Tall says:

THE problem is 42 democrats still hope to steal the oil

  73. Humanist says:

    #75-wonka,

The divisions within your country are just that, an internal distinction. Your bombs and bullets are not labeled by political party. Nor is the military that is currently carrying out these vile assassinations a “republican” or “democrat” military, it is the AMERICAN military. So, yes, you are lumped together when your actions cannot be separated.

Also, if your government is not acting for the people as they are constitutionally obligated to do, then why haven’t you overthrown them? And please do not use the tired excuse of “they stole the elections” or “wait until the next election”. What if some country started violently and savagely exterminating Americans on a daily basis and then when you challenged them on it they told you that “gee, we know its wrong but we have to keep doing it until we elect new leaders in a year or so”?

That is PRECISELY what you are asking of humanity.

  74. katy says:

  75. Tobey Tall says:

    http://www.soldierlife.com/

I think the vast differences in compensation between victims of the
September 11 casualty and those who die serving our country in uniform
are profound. No one is really talking about it either, because you
just don’t criticize anything having to do with September 11. Well, I
can’t let the numbers pass by because it says something really
disturbing about the entitlement mentality of this country. If you lost
a family member in the September 11 attack, you’re going to get an
average of $1,185,000. The range is a minimum guarantee of $250,000,
all the way up to $4.7 million.

If you are a surviving family member of an American soldier killed in
action, the first check you get is a $6,000 direct death benefit, half
    of which is taxable.

Next, you get $1,750 for burial costs. If you are the surviving
spouse, you get $833 a month until you remarry. And there’s a payment
of $211 per month for each child under 18. When the child hits 18,
those payments come to a screeching halt.

Humanist, you are AWESOME and EMPOWERING. How can i BE you?

Alas, I have no more time for commenting. I must take up arms and overthrow my government, because they are me and I am them, and the legislature, me sitting at my desk, and the soldiers abroad are one in the same. Revolt! Revolt!

  77. Humanist says:

    #80-wonka,

I am deeply disturbed at how cavalier you are regarding murder that is being carried out in your name. I am not insulted by your condescending and arrogant tone if that was your intent. Nor do I find any humor in the situation whatsoever.

People are DYING daily as a result of the USA’s misdeeds. This is not funny in the least. How dare you marginalize the lives of others. What the hell is wrong with you people?

  78. Jon says:

The following is a list of Representatives and how they voted on this “resolution”. The Democrats are listed under the “yeas” in Italics. It unfortunately doesn’t list what state they Represent, but I’m sure that could be found relatively easily:

  79. Spudge_Boy says:

    Humanist,

What the hell is wrong with you? You come to a blog that is quite clearly against the shit that our government is doing and yell at the posters here for what the government is doing.

As you have been told before. If you want to try and get your point across (which happens to be the same as ours) go to a right wing site and tell them off. Let them know you are a forienger and that the world sees what the US is doing as bad.

Of course, you will just be called a stupid foriegner and banned form the blog.

But, the people that are here hold the same view poitn as you, so stop trying to lump all Americans together. Most countries in the world are much smaller than the state of California by itself. What you are doing by lumping us all together would be like us lumping every country in Europe together.

Get a grip and stop arguing our point of view against us.

We know people are dying for no reason. We don’t think we should have ever gone to ocuppy Iraq We think Bush stole the 2000 and 2004 elections. We understand that Bush and is administration are evil rat bastards. We know that this “war on terror” is only to make Bush and his friends money from war profitering and oil spoils.

    Stop lumping all Americans together.

  80. Jon says:

So, from your list, we get:

    AK 3
    AL 1
    CA 3
    CO 1
    GA 3
    HI 1
    IA 1
    IL 3

Anybody surpirsed where these Democrats come from that they voted this way. Most of these are red state Democrats, who it would appesr are DINOs.

  82. Humanist says:

    #83-Spudge_Boy,

So, you have come to lecture me on how the world, or humanity for that matter, should interpret the Americans. That we should distinguish between who supports your murderous ways and who does not. That we should sit idly by as you all engage in your lover’s spat and just accept the “collateral” damage as being just an unfortunate by-product of your senseless internal battle.

How convenient that must be for you. You reap the benefits of being an American but accept none of the responsibility for your actions. You will retort that it’s not that simple, that there are nuances and grey areas that one has to wade through in order to get the big picture. It’s a delusion, my friend, and you are too intelligent to dwell in it when the light of truth is being presented before your very eyes.

People are dying each and everyday and you ask humanity to wait until you all get your political issues resolved before you can stop it. What would you do if your military started bombing your schools at home and it was YOUR children being murdered? Go ahead, lie to me and tell me that you would do just what you are doing now. Bullshit! You would revolt, and rightfully so. But, because the people who are dying are Iraqis, you assign a different priority. No matter what excuse you attempt to use the end result is the same, you assign a different value upon the lives of Iraqis versus the lives of Americans. That is the point that you so conveniently avoid.

So do not get all sanctimonious with me. Nor is your anger justified when all that I’m doing is speaking the unqualified truth, something that you claim to value above all else. Your partisan bickering has provided in your mind a means of ignoring your responsibilities as an American citizen and as a member of humanity. Please wake up, before it is too late.

  83. Spudge_Boy says:

So, you have come to lecture me on how the world, or humanity for that matter, should interpret the Americans.

I didn’t come anywhere. I was already here. I have been here for years. It is you who have come to lecture.

The rest of your post is once again lumping all Americans in together. So, if we are gonna lump everybody into one group, then you are a memeber of the Human race, therefore it is your fault also.

How about this. Why do you and your government sit idly by why the US blows up inocent people. You do something about it, since you control everything your government does.

So, you wanna be a troll who argues our points against us. fine. Be a troll, I don’t care.

Please wake up, before it is too late.

I don’t really feel like arguing my point against my point. But, we ARE awake. Go yell at some right wingers.

Do you really think anybody in this country is going to stand up, take up arms against the government of the US? You would have to be insane to want to get shot 70 times by the poilce as happened to somebody yesterday. We live in a near police state, so until you learn a little more about America, STFU.

You don’t like what America is doing (once again, neither do the people here in this forum) then you get your government to do something about it, becauuse we can’t.

It isn’t a matter of wanting to, as you imply. It is a matter of being killed for no reason.

Also, you should keep in mind that it is you who are portarying yourself as holier than thou. Not me. I asked that you stopped screaming our points at us.

You are at the wrong site.

  84. Humanist says:

    #87-Spudge_Boy,

So, you want me to fix your problems for you. You want me to end this illegal invasion for you. So many of you talk a good game but there is absolutely no substance behind it.

I will accecpt your challenge, if enough of you so desire, but then you will have forfeited the right to complain about my solution, providing you survive it. If that’s what you really want, just let me know and then crawl underneath your bed and hope that it all works out okay. The journey should not not take long as it appears that you are residing there already.

By the way, you Americans need to update your national anthem and remove the last phrase. For you are no longer free, and most certainly you are not brave.

  85. Jay Randal says:

Humanist chill out because Spudge_Boy is a good anti-Bush poster and patriot on here! Most of us on this site dislike the Bush Regime, and everything that they represent, but nobody on here is prepared to have an armed rebellion against the government! That would be a bloodbath since Bush would fight to the death!

What country are you from or living in at present? Just clear that up so we know?!
