i've seen a number of posts that refer to cheney as a 'moron' or whatever. i think this totally mischaracterizes him. morons dont get to the top like he has. it is a mad-scientist genious intellect that we should be worried about. yeah, i would imagine if any 'moron' titles should be administered, it would be rationed among the national media whom would never have the balls to say 'you know, we know what you meant when you said last throes, and you were wrong. stop playing us for fools!' the difference between us and them, is that we respect values like honesty and integrity, and they dont know that.

The Vice-President is a liar. Plain and simple. How many young Americans must die before people wake up and understand that Iraq is about oil and military occupation.
Bush and Cheney care more about the military industrial complex than middle class America. Wake up!! Your sons and daughters are being used as cannon fodder!!

When the American masses stop feeding their faces full of McDonalds, when they are done snorting their meth, when they are done buying their over-priced gas-guzzling H2 Hummers using their home equity, when they believe Iraq has ties with 911, when they have watched FOX news and convinced themselves they have really watched the news -- that's when the EMPIRE is on the steep slope of a steep decline. Cheney is merely helping the rich pick up the pieces, so they can take their agenda globally. A little lie here, another there -- in the scheme of things, what;s it matter? America is already LOST.

dick cheney has served in three presidential administrations, hasn't he? At what point will he be asked, "If you couldn't have foreseen this debacle, who could have?" Yet many of us could see where all of this was leading, and here we are.

When might America wake up? We've been played, and to what purpose?

#45:

Keep clinging to that mantra “No one died when Clinton lied” if it makes you feel better, however, try telling that to the 3000 families who lost loved ones on 9/11. They didn’t volunteer or sign up for the mission. They were victoms of an evil attack on this country. Those who died in Iraq volunteered to protect this country and did so for your freedom, which you obviously do not appreciate.

You are an excellent example of the simplistic, smug, holier-than-thou embarassments that have absolutely DISGRACED the Republican Party that I joined (and of which I am still a member). However, being an actual Texan, unlike your alcoholic, cocaine-abusing, false-Christian, spoiled rich-bitch, "food on your family" Connecticut-born jackass, I knew that Duh-Buh-Yuh had absolutely ZERO political experience that qualified him for presidential duty and was elected solely because of his name. Do you know anything about the Texas political structure? Of course you don't; I'm assuming that you would respond that it's "not your job" to verify the credentials of an obvious moron before you hump the proverbial leg of a flawed political structure and gleefully cast your vote, feeling so good about yourself because you think it really makes a difference. Heck, any reputable employer would verify the work history and detailed work experience of a potential employee who would hold an important position, but ignorant Bush leg-humpers like yourself were satisfied with ridiculously little information. I'll keep it simple, since typical Bush supporters routinely get confused with anything more complex than an episode of "American Idol." In the Texas political system, the governor has the absolute LEAST authority when it comes to dealing with legislation, state fiscal matters, or basically anything else, aside from handling appeals from inmates on the state Death Row. Which is ironic, since most of the ignorant, uninformed Texans who, for some ungodly reason, still support Bush, complain about "Yankees" moving to Texas, when it was a "Yankee" who gleefully executed record-breaking numbers of Texans. So aside from this morbid "toy" that Cokie (Bush) coveted, his power in Texas government was virtually nil; basically the equivalent of the power of the British monarchy (nil) compared to the British Parliament, when concerning the actual governing of Great Britain. The most power in Texas government is concentrated in the LIEUTENANT governor (ironically, due to historical instances of incompetence and corruption in the office of the governor), and the Texas Legislature. It would not be far-fetched to summarize that all Bush did as governor was sign bills (completely initiated, debated, and written solely by the Texas Legislature) and deny clemency appeals. I laughed when Bush boasted that he had signed an unprecendented number of bills into law during his first term, making it seem like he "worked hard" to get a "lot of work done." Yeah, well, practically all of those bills were already well into the legislative process before Cokie "played governor." In a nutshell, there are more city council members, mayors, or hell, even city dog catchers in this state who had more political experience to qualify them for the presidency than Cokie.
However, what I loved most about your post is how you moronically said that the soldiers dying in Iraq for "Bush's War" did so defending our freedom. I fail to see how logistically the soldiers are defending our freedom in another country halfway across the planet. You are truly brain-washed. The last time American soldiers trully defended our nation's freedom was in the AMERICAN REVOLUTION, you moron! Are you trying to imply that Iraq was planning an attack to overthrow the American government and impose Hussein as its dictator? THAT'S THE ONLY SCENARIO IN WHICH SAYING OUR TROOPS INVADING IRAQ TO "DEFEND AMERICA'S FREEDOM" IS EVEN REMOTELY PLAUSIBLE! Otherwise, it's a gross display of imperialism and a vindictive action by a spoiled little bit¢h-boy who actually said, "after all, this is a man [Hussein] who at one time tried to kill my dad." Yep, now that is definitely world-leader class. Bush himself admitted (after his invasion, of course) that he "had no evidence" of a connection between Iraq and 9/11, and has since also admitted having no evidence between Hussein and al-Qaeda. But don't worry, for stupid Bush-sheeple like you, all Bush and Dick have to say is "oops" and you'll forgive them. Over 2,000 U.S. soldiers have died for nothing. Sectarian violence in Iraq will most likely ensure that a real, free democracy in Iraq will never happen (even though "freeing" the Iraqi people was not the reason for the invasion, no matter how much Cokie and Dick employ Goebbels-esque media tactics). It's funny how Dick and Cokie consider answering missing-WMD questions "backward, not forward-looking" when it was their SOLE (false) justification for invading another country that imposed absolutely NO threat to us. You support the troops by bringing them home as soon as possible since you fu¢ked them over by sending them over there in the first place for your personal vendetta (and for oil). To this day, our troops do not have the equipment they need in Iraq. I don't see Bush giving a flying fu¢k about that. So, who supports the troops, a$$hole, those of us who would never lie them into war and want them home because they never should've been there in the first place, or simpleton "talking points" parrots such as yourself who want to honor fallen soldiers by ensuring more soldiers die? Worst of all, Bush himself was responsible for starting this war, and his incompetence (as well as that of his cabinet) ensured such pi$$-poor war planning that he gave al-Qaeda something they couldn't do on their own: obtain an ENTIRE COUNTRY for free-range terrorist breeding and training. So Bush's mantra of the "war on terror" entails fighting terrorists by creating more terrorists. And you STILL support that dry-drunk, cokehead, false-Christian disgracing the nation. Therefore, you are a disgrace as well. Case closed.

So aside from this morbid “toy” that Cokie (Bush) coveted, his power in Texas government was virtually nil; basically the equivalent of the power of the British monarchy (nil) compared to the British Parliament, when concerning the actual governing of Great Britain. I laughed when Bush boasted that he had signed an unprecendented number of bills into law during his first term, making it seem like he “worked hard” to get a “lot of work done.” Yeah, well, practically all of those bills were already well into the legislative process before Cokie “played governor.” In a nutshell, there are more city council members, mayors, or hell, even city dog catchers in this state who had more political experience to qualify them for the presidency than Cokie.
However, what I loved most about your post is how you moronically said that the soldiers dying in Iraq for “Bush’s War” did so defending our freedom. I fail to see how logistically the soldiers are defending our freedom in another country halfway across the planet. You are truly brain-washed. The last time American soldiers trully defended our nation’s freedom was in the AMERICAN REVOLUTION, you moron! Are you trying to imply that Iraq was planning an attack to overthrow the American government and impose Hussein as its dictator? THAT’S THE ONLY SCENARIO IN WHICH SAYING OUR TROOPS INVADING IRAQ TO “DEFEND AMERICA’S FREEDOM” IS EVEN REMOTELY PLAUSIBLE! Otherwise, it’s a gross display of imperialism and a vindictive action by a spoiled little bit¢h-boy who actually said, “after all, this is a man [Hussein] who at one time tried to kill my dad.” Yep, now that is definitely world-leader class. Bush himself admitted (after his invasion, of course) that he “had no evidence” of a connection between Iraq and 9/11, and has since also admitted having no evidence between Hussein and al-Qaeda. But don’t worry, for stupid Bush-sheeple like you, all Bush and Dick have to say is “oops” and you’ll forgive them. Over 2,000 U.S. soldiers have died for nothing. Sectarian violence in Iraq will most likely ensure that a real, free democracy in Iraq will never happen (even though “freeing” the Iraqi people was not the reason for the invasion, no matter how much Cokie and Dick employ Goebbels-esque media tactics). It’s funny how Dick and Cokie consider answering missing-WMD questions “backward, not forward-looking” when it was their SOLE (false) justification for invading another country that imposed absolutely NO threat to us. You support the troops by bringing them home as soon as possible since you fu¢ked them over by sending them over there in the first place for your personal vendetta (and for oil). To this day, our troops do not have the equipment they need in Iraq. I don’t see Bush giving a flying fu¢k about that. So, who supports the troops, a$$hole, those of us who would never lie them into war and want them home because they never should’ve been there in the first place, or simpleton “talking points” parrots such as yourself who want to honor fallen soldiers by ensuring more soldiers die? Worst of all, Bush himself was responsible for starting this war, and his incompetence (as well as that of his cabinet) ensured such pi$$-poor war planning that he gave al-Qaeda something they couldn’t do on their own: obtain an ENTIRE COUNTRY for free-range terrorist breeding and training. So Bush’s mantra of the “war on terror” entails fighting terrorists by creating more terrorists. And you STILL support that dry-drunk, cokehead, false-Christian disgracing the nation. Therefore, you are a disgrace as well. Case closed.

Plunger, your comments (#51 etc) are SPOT ON. They always intended to build military bases in Iraq. Further, and it appears that NOBODY talks about this, one of the key reasons for taking Iraq is the control of water. Turkey (with the aid of the US) has and is building 33 water installations and dams on the Euphrates River, the river that feeds Iraq.

Not only have the US starved, bombed, irradiated, ruined, plundered and raped Iraq (all on a mass of lies), but they are also going to dry it up. Turkey is set to become the bread basket of Europe through massive irrigation of the south eastern region and Iraq will become more and more like a prune.

Syria is losing water also, and the Syrians will start getting more and more angry. Still(!) no one speaks about water being a major issue in this war. I've been banging on about it for ages... do a Google search with these words "Tigris Euphrates Water Dispute" and read the papers about what's going on in this very sad corner of the world.

So, it appears to me, as we're mostly looking at the oil component of the why of this war, no one much is looking at the water component. It's far more potent, IMHO.
