Read history. The Republicans gutted defense budgets every time they got into power; even Eisenhower. They latched onto defense spending during Viet Nam as a political tool cum springboard to return to power.
And it was the Republicans who opposed the U.S.’s entry into WWII, until Japan attacked Pearl Harbor. Then, like the isolationist American Communists who became interventionists after Germany attacked Russia, the Repos jumped in to support WWII while attacking FDR. Did anyone call them isolationist traitors back then? Should have.

PS: Point of clarification, Eisenhower, infaturated with the Repos’ demand for a balanced budget, cut defense spending to fund construction of the Interstate Highway System.

Morgan,

the article from the washington times indicates that the French sold spare parts, and missles to Saddam. The only chemical mentioned is a chinese chemical meant to make solid rocket fuels. It does mention Dual use components, but never specifies what components were sold.

The second article comes from what we would both agree is a highly partisan website. I will trust there article as soon as you trust stuff from micheal moore
