Editor & Publisher’s Greg Mitchell: “[A]ll major polls show that the public favors withdrawals, with strong support for a timeline or total pullout within a year. … It’s one thing when polls are dismissed, ignored or twisted by political or media spinmeisters. But when journalists in their news stories do it, it is downright misleading.”
Yea, that “liberal” media, stickin’ it to the man again.

June 22nd, 2006 at 3:04 pmHas the administration caught the anthrax guy yet?
June 22nd, 2006 at 3:05 pmwhat else do you expect from this “lame duck” media?
June 22nd, 2006 at 3:06 pmIt kind of reminds me of the BS that got us into the Iraqi Quagmire in the first place….no not the first gulf war, but the self-inflicted wound we all suffered on 9/11. The media were just a bunch of pawns to help brainwash the masses into believing the lies and that we’d be fighting the enemy over there instead of over here. The problem is we had to wait for the terrorists to get there before we could fight. But that’s okay, because contrary to popular belief, POTUS43 probably did read his father’s book. Why else would he have deposed Saddam? Dubya needed a civil war so he could hook up all his corporate donors with meaty government, no-bid contracts….and oh yeah, provide a place for terrorists to go so he could justify his war on terrorism.
June 22nd, 2006 at 3:24 pmWait, you are saying that media is not reporting it? Isn’t think progressive media? Aren’t they reporting every single bad thing that happens over there? When did think progressive report anything good that happened over there?
June 22nd, 2006 at 3:34 pmNow all Americans can see that Bush isn’t working for the American people he is dictating what he wants. We don’t have a President that does the will of the people we have a dictator who has stolen America. The United States has been invaded and taken over by the Bush Administration and big business. American children are dying because Americans wont stand up and stop this axis of evil. The world see clearly that Bush is the worse dictator of our time while the GOP says Bush is doing a hell of a job by letting the propaganda flow and the GOP keep voting for our troops to die one by one. The GOP says the families support our troops dying for what ever but notice how the Iraq trained troops are killing our troops and believe me this has been going on from the start we just found out this time. Mass murders by our troops per order of the Top aka Rummy/Cheney. A clueless Secretary of State who is only interested in sleeping with the President. I know all the Christian right are proud of the family values put forth by our President. Laura isn’t doing to bad either by dating the rich Texas millionair. Everybodies happy and the church gets paid to spread the lies. Who’s bible is Bush using doesn’t sound like God’s more like Satans. Now you know God isn’t blessing America it’s Satan who is blessing America.
June 22nd, 2006 at 3:37 pm#3…i think his lawyer said he just ducked an indictment!
June 22nd, 2006 at 3:40 pmOf course they haven’t. Why should they. The only people who received Anthrax letters were Democrats and Tom Brokav. Just do a little search or check it out here.
June 22nd, 2006 at 3:41 pmI think this is why the polls regarding pullout are ingnored by the establishment:
“…We annually spend on military security more than the net income of all United States corporations.
This conjunction of an immense military establishment and a large arms industry is new in the American experience. The total influence — economic, political, even spiritual — is felt in every city, every State house, every office of the Federal government. We recognize the imperative need for this development. Yet we must not fail to comprehend its grave implications. Our toil, resources and livelihood are all involved; so is the very structure of our society.
In the councils of government, we must guard against the acquisition of unwarranted influence, whether sought or unsought, by the militaryindustrial complex. The potential for the disastrous rise of misplaced power exists and will persist.
We must never let the weight of this combination endanger our liberties or democratic processes. We should take nothing for granted. Only an alert and knowledgeable citizenry can compel the proper meshing of the huge industrial and military machinery of defense with our peaceful methods and goals, so that security and liberty may prosper together.”

The media has a long history of getting public opinion wrong. Within days of the 2004 election, the media had reports of polling that showed the public favoring the policies of Dems over Bush. This contradicted the reports they published prior to the election.
If the media cannot sway opinion to reflect their bias, they will simply misrepresent it.

The idea that the media might have an agenda mean anything to you people. Its obvious to me and most Americans that for the most part, the MSM is promoting the agenda set forth by the democratic party. There is just no denying it. But, go ahead and dream up these conspiracy theories if they help you sleep at night.
By the way, Jackie, you need to get back on your medication.
June 22nd, 2006 at 4:35 pmWhat we have these days can hardly be called “journalists.” If our media were employing real journalists, Bush and his gang would have been strung up in the streets of Washington years ago. Can you imagine what we would do to these a-holes if we were being told the truth on a massive scale?
It would be a blood bath!
June 22nd, 2006 at 4:36 pmSeriously, what are you smoking?
June 22nd, 2006 at 4:40 pmYou don’t believe that they are following an agenda? Why is it then Murtha can make any claim he wants to without any facts to back his statements up and when there is now evidence that WMDs did exist in Iraq, those facts are ignored. There are many, many examples of how the media caters to dem’s interests in their reporting, you just need to get out of your delusions.
June 22nd, 2006 at 4:45 pmCorporate Conservative Media doing us in again.
June 22nd, 2006 at 4:52 pmIf the media were actually using real journalists, they would be reporting the news and not trying to create it. Real journalists would understand the difference between releasing information that might threaten national security and trying to bring down the Bush administration. They are still using the same old playbook, trying to make Iraq into another Vietnam and take down President Bush like they did Nixon. The truth is, neither tactic is going to work and the dems are going to lose net seats in the fall.
June 22nd, 2006 at 4:52 pmWhy should we condemn our soldiers and Marines to serve any more time in the totally FUBAR situation that Bush, Inc. has created in Iraq? What makes people think that Bush, Inc. will ever be able to devise a strategy that will lead to success in Iraq? Bush is a failure, his Iraq adventure is an abortion- let’s get the f*ck out of there, ASAP.
June 22nd, 2006 at 4:55 pmTell me again that the media is liberal.
June 22nd, 2006 at 4:55 pmTell me again that the media is not in bed with this administration.
The seeds for today’s corruption and control were sown decades ago by the same evil cabal that manipulate events, publicity and money in the White House today.
The press had to become complicit (or at least effectively intimidated) in order for the plan to be fully workable. It took them nearly 30 years, but their day is here.
The majority of Americans have caught on to the scheme now, but it is late in the game and the roots are set, its powerful tentacles far reaching.
milbog,
Perhaps you didn’t get the news, from the Pentagon, that the chemical munitions found in Iraq were old (pre-1991) and inert and therefore not WMDs. Nobody said Iraq never had chemical weapons- that is a strawman created by the pro-war (as-long-as-I-don’t-have-to-serve-in-the-military) group.
Is the Pentagon run by liberals who are trying to hide the truth from you real patriots? Get a clue. You accuse Murtha of not knowing the facts- look in the mirror.
June 22nd, 2006 at 4:59 pmMilbog,
June 22nd, 2006 at 5:01 pmGet you facts straight. The DOD has already flipped off Santoriums cheap WMD scare story. Regarding Murtha, I see none of the repug counterparts mounting concrete evidence contray to his claims. Regarding a MSM agenda, they are following what the king and their corporate owners have set. As someone suggested above, if the public knew the real truth of the past 5 plus years people in the administration would be dead by now. Go back to the conservative blog site where the brainless visit and read.
#14-milbog,
June 22nd, 2006 at 5:10 pmApparently you think State Sponsored News without any disclosure is peachy. Its called propaganda, maybe they didn’t teach you that in brainwashing school.
Milbog I’ll foward your comment about me to my daughter who is serving in Afgan. Yes she is a current military soldier and you well your comments speak for itself. I notice how all those that support the invasion don’t service our country. Let’s look at our leaders President Bush skipped out while drunk, Cheney 5 deferments nice, Rummy helped bring all the weapons Saddam had to Iraq while serveing our country and yet never had active duty oh yes Connie Rice enough said. Eveyone of our troops that die have people like you and the GOP to thank for the lies and propaganda you telling. I know your being paid well with taxpayers stolen money to spread the lies but the public has wised up and it’s not working anymore. So I’ll wait to hear from a true American soldier who is serving this country even if it is all the reasons are lies by the Commander-In-Chief and you.
June 22nd, 2006 at 6:55 pmmilbog
I have actually read all the sources to Murtha’s claims. It’s almost that I put together a list to back the things up and post them at huffingtonpost each time his name appears.
Many of his sources are still bookmarked. He’s not making stuff up.
If the media would be truly independent and objective, they would have informed the public about PNAC and it’s agenda many times before 9/11 even. You would also be hearing a lot about Bush’s reistance to even start a 9/11 investigation, you’d hear information about P2OG, possible election fraud, Bohemian Grove, Bilderberg, downing street memos, office of special plans, the real state of the economy…etc etc.. the public would be much more informed with a proper media.
The media really serves elite interests, both dems and repubs. The media (and politicians) have since long seized to work for the public good. Media has a higher interest in making a profit….rich media = poor democracy.
June 22nd, 2006 at 7:31 pmThe most promising poll I’ve read lately is the one that indicates that over 80% of Americans believe the majority of the fighing and killing in Iraq is being done by the Sunni’s and Shiites. Americans know a civil war when they see one.
The republicans are toast this November.
June 22nd, 2006 at 11:30 pmThe MSM News/Press have been purchased by agents of the GOP, for the most part, so they serve their masters wishes! FOX News and CNN both foist Bush Regime propaganda down Americans throats, and Time Magazine is completely in bed with Dubya/GOP now!
The only real independent press left alive is on blogs, such as ThinkProgress, etc.!

A poll of Iraqi families who prefer to not have their children slaughtered by terrorists shows overwhelming support for the war as well as resolve to fight the insurgents, Al Jazeera, the New York Times and democrats in the U.S. congress….
June 23rd, 2006 at 9:00 am#30-Marrk Marko,
I wonder about the families who prefer that there familes be slaughtered by US soldiers? Have you read any polls about that one? Or how about the fact that 80% of all Iraqis, not just the ones lucky enough to be in the green zone, want US out of there?
But obviously you don’t think much for yourself. Equating terrorists with the NYT and the Dems is a chicken-shiite thing to do, plus it completely leaves out just who is responsible for this mess you speak of which you speak so highly.
Go back and tell the rest of America’s bubba factor that all is well, the war is peachy, and most of all, that we’re winning.
June 23rd, 2006 at 10:07 amI thought we had a big poll done on the Iraq war a while back…..Oh yeah it called the 2004 ELECTION !!and Bush won handily. I just can imagine the nightmare scenario of that chickenshit kerry in charge of national defense. he would probably vote for affirmiatve action and the passage of hate crime laws to protect the terrorists not to mention running witha yellow stripe up his back in Iraq like he did about vietnam after he was discharged.
June 23rd, 2006 at 11:49 amBut i encourage the far left wing of the democratic party to push for cutting and running in viet…oops excuse me Iraq. At this rate their will NEVER be another democrat president ever so keep up the good work!
moonbat patrol wrote:
moonbat patrol is absolutely correct…..51% to 49% is a landslide…thanks for reminding all of us crazy liberals….that is all 65% of the US who believe the war is bogus.
It must be awfully hard to breathe with your head so far up your arse…
The whole term Cutting and Running is just a way for the NeoCONS to divert attention from the fact that this war was illegal, illconcieved, and illogical. IT IS THE GOP PLAN THAT IS FAILING, not the true patriots who don’t want to send anymore of our brave comrads to DIE. Try reading the words of a true conservative, Chuck Hagel.
The GOP is a joke, albeit a truly tasteless joke that won’t even take responsibility for the war they started. STAYING THE COURSE IS NOT A PLAN, because it means more of the same. More dead US servicemen/women, more innocent Iraqis killed, and more terrorist training opportunities.
