When President Wilson championed for a League of Nations, opponents feared that the organization would become a paper tiger riddled with special agendas and susceptible to corruption. This had the potential of propelling the U.S. to one bad situation after another. As a result, the U.S. did not join The League of Nations.

Unfortunately the fears that the opponents had about The League of Nations, have manifested into what is wrong with The United Nations.

I find it astonishing that individuals that were born in the nineteenth century were able to foresee problems that will be plaguing the U.S. well into the twenty first century and perhaps beyond.

This is a great example of the Bush administration’s double standards on the UN, international cooperation, and human rights in general. I don’t see why the U.S. shouldn’t be held to the same standards as everyone else. If guy A was killing 5 enemies at a time, and guy B was killing 1,000 enemies at a time….they’re still both killing….But hey, the U.S. is special. That must mean we only have to listen to international laws when we want to.

Maybe there arent any terrorists with the funding or abilities to do much in the first place xley you think it would be hard to cross the border here,you could walk across no sweat from either canada or mexico .If you live out west you can imagine what a terrorist could do with just a car or book of matches,pretty low tech stuff and it would be devastating.20 saudi’s and 3 airplanes have scared you so much your willing to throw out the very rights we’ve fought 2 world wars over,and then attack a country totally uninvolved in that attack and kill 100 000 civilians,while throwing billions and thousands of american lives at it.If a mouse ran across the floor would you jump up on a chair or start shooting up your house with a shot gun?This war has nothing to do with terrorism and everything to do with ,as the neo cons,(emphasis on con )Wrote before 911 ,control of mid east oil and a permanent foothold there,

That’s right (Thank God)…And why is that? Because of President Bush’s policies of taking the fight to the terrorists in Afghanistan and Iraq and giving law-enforcement the tools it needs to fight terroris, (PATRIOT Act, NSA anti-terrorism surveillance program, etc.)
