Rep. Curt Weldon (R-PA) planned a personal WMD hunt

in Iraq with Rep. Peter Hoekstra (R-MI). The “congressmen planned to persuade the U.S. military commander to lend them the equipment and men to go digging by the Euphrates” for a cache of WMD believed to be there.

  2. Krazny says:

Maybe we can get some of the semi-literate trolls who post here to go with. They could serve their country, see beautiful Iraq. and not bother us for a while.

  3. Albert says:

I guess I should not be surprised by now. Unmedicated schizophrenics are running the country.

  4. HearlandLiberal says:

“Coo cook a chou.” There is not much more than that one can say. Except somene really, really needs to lock these people away in padded cells somewhere, for their own safety, as well as that of their constituents.

  5. Never Gonna Vote Democrat says:

Isn’t Weldon an Able Danger conspiracy nut?

  6. Curlew says:

I was once in a training course on Capitol Hill where we had an instructor from the Library of Congress. She told us her job was to “answer any question asked by a Member.” She then said the two “most stupid” questions she had been asked, which she had printed out, framed and hanging on her office wall were: 1) “A member called asking for information on the pros and cons of child abuse.” and 2) A member called at 11:15 am saying he needed to know by 11:30 ‘what Abraham Lincoln did after he left office.’ ” The instructor said she took a deep breath and told him “Congressman, he took a long train ride back to Illinois.”

She then looked at the class and said “THESE are the people running our government.” I wonder what stories she has to tell about Weldon?? Then again, maybe I dont want to know.

  7. Herman, Favored Pupil of Christ says:

These are two holy men on a holy crusade. Stop mocking them.

  8. PLC (Patriotic Liberal Christian) says:

If this story is true, by all means let’s send in the military to look. Dig a big hole. Find nothing and fill in the big hole – with Weldon, Hoekstra, and any other unfathomably gullible still-believer.

  9. Quadrajet says:

Great! Unbelievable is covering airfare, and I’ll throw in the shovels and dinner for two at the Bagdad Hilton.

  10. onthefence says:

Let them do what they want on their time and dime, but I don’t think they should be taking resources away from the fight when we barely have enough to keep it together.

  11. GDM says:

Don’t worry fellas, no need to put yourselves in danger. Halliburton is already brewing up WMD to be planted all over Iraq which will be “discovered” in October.

  12. S.D. says:

Didn’t anyone let them know about the Joke? Guess they missed the Memo…

Can you imagine if these Idiots went and got some Poor Soldier killed while Guarding their Lame Asses??

  13. Above the Clouds says:

Talk about a “Dukakis Moment.” How did Weldon get his information? A leak from the White House? What is it with Pennsylvania officials?

  19. Jonathon says:

DO IT!! I would LOVE to see them go over there with their pail and shovel and dig around on the riverbank. I am sure it is a better use of their time than what they have been doing in Congress.

Let’s encourage ALL of the GOP chickenhawks to join them. I’d help pitch in for a one way ticket, too!

  20. PLC (Patriotic Liberal Christian) says:

I’d like to volunteer to be the excuse-maker when no WMD are found. Samples:
    1. Clinton must have moved them.
    2. Kerry probably threw them out with his medals.
    3. You didn’t give us enough time to dig – Dig and Run.
    4. All those damn lefties have been wishing for failure and they made it happen.
    5. You don’t know they weren’t here or hear that others don’t know or know that
no hearing has been held here to know when or if no one every knew or heard
of anyone knowing whether or not they were here
    6. They must have disapperated heh-heh That means they r-n-t here heh-heh

  21. Gary says:

I may be a conservative, but these 2 are idiots! It would make for a really funny video watching those to morons digging for WMD’s in Iraq.

  22. Bruce Gorton says:

Personally, I think it is commendable of them to offer to put their money where their mouths are. I actually feel that they should be allowed to go and do precisely what they are proposing to do, and I respect them more for it.

Of course, I will feel rather saddened to hear if they get their heads lopped off.

  23. Quadrajet says:

#20 – PLC, that’s hillarious! Expect of phone call from the administration offering a spokesperson position. I’m assuming that the Euphrates runs through the Green Zone, since Weldon and Hoekstra wouldn’t be caught outside of it.

  24. Tracy says:

    #21

I agree that this would be a rather fruitless gesture by these to congressmen and is idiotic on their part, however even if they did find a stockpile, it wouldn’t matter to anyone here.

  25. Bruce Gorton says:

    Tracy

After 5 years, and found by a pair of politicians: Frankly wouldn’t you think that any finds would only be planted evidence?

  26. Rex says:

Weldon sounds like a foolish schoolboy who had his watch taken from him and tells his mother he’s going back to school to look for it, for the effect.
    ————————————————–
All’s Weldon is likely to find are cat turds and depleted uranium.

  27. unbelievable says:

I’ll buy Tracy a plane ticket as well. Quadrajet, you up for getting him a safety spoon to dig with, and a helmet, for when he falls down goes boom?

  28. PLC (Patriotic Liberal Christian) says:

    27 Unbelievable
No helmet – what’s a little more braindamage added to what is already there. No sense in wasting money – gotta support those tax breaks to the super rich, you know.

  29. cynicalgirl says:

Isn’t Weldon pretty much history? I think it’s clear that suburban Philadelphians have turned on Republicans. I’ll be surprised if he wins in November. He’s acting desperate, isn’t he?

  30. Grand Moff Texan says:

You left out the best part. Weldon didn’t think the military could be trusted with the information.

    Wow.
    .

  31. Joe says:

What were these moron’s gonna do when people started getting killed on there crazy quest. There not trained to plan and execute military missions in a battle zone, nor are they trained to identify and handle chem. weapons. On the other hand if there is a shred of decent evidence on these sites why wouldn’t the Army be there with bells an whistles looking for this stuff out of sheer desire to protect there forces? Wow, this is crazy, THE MAN ON THE HILL WANTS TO PLAY WAR.

  32. Jerry rigged says:

So let me see. Everyone believes what this guy with the alleged WMD treaure map says about Weldon. Do they also believe he knows where the WMDs are buried? Either the guy’s creible or he’s not. You can’t have it both ways. Either he’s full of crap or he’s not.

  33. Jay Randal says:

Send Welden to Iraq with no military guards and let him dig away untill the local Iraqis do away with him > lol.

  34. Quadrajet says:

#27 – Sure UB, I’ll be happy to throw in a spoon for Tracy. I’m with PLC on the helmet though, no return on that investment. I’ll even throw down for Tracy’s meal provided they have high chairs and a kids menu.

  35. purvis ames says:

By all means let him go. He’ll set a wonderful example for all the other chickenhawks to pick up their shovels and get over there and dig their own graves,

  36. PLC (Patriotic Liberal Christian) says:

    32 Jerry rigged
It’s not necessary for us to believe this guy to comment. Note in #8 that I said “if the story is true”. But you know, that would rather boring if each post started out with that caveat. For my part, I assume it’s there. And BTW the guy can be “partially credible” and truthful by stating facts about his relationship with Weldon (a shared delusion?) and having absolutely no credible evidence for the existence of any WMD. Yeah, he could be “half full of crap”.

  37. Jay Randal says:

First send the 2 GOP Reps out to the White House sandbox to dig with Tonka trucks with Dubya > afterwards send them all off to Iraq > bon voyage you fruitcakes > lol.

  38. Krazny says:

I think Jerry has a valid point. Rep. Wheldon’s office is not verifying the story. The only person putting this out there is the fruitcake who says the weapons are buried near the Euphrates.

What we need is confirmation from Wheldon’s office, then we can start the roast.

  39. unbelievable says:

Tracy – pack your bags! We’re sending you to Iraq to search for the weapons yourself… Don’t forget to write…

  40. ron says:

That’s my Rep! Go get em Curt! And if being in Iraq wasn’t dangerous enough maybe he could use a v-22 Osprey to ferry him from WMD site to WMD site.

  41. Zookeeper says:

I’ll wave good-bye at the airport, and I might even manage a tear or two, if a bug flys into my eye.

  42. trueblue says:

    I’m sorry, but I gotta:
    BWWWAAAAHHHHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!
Are they gonna get “Bigfoot” evidence next?
How ’bout that elusive “Loch Ness Monster”?

    Thanks. I feel better now.

  43. Quadrajet says:

#41 – Zoo, bugs shouldn’t be a problem at the airport, unless you make a phone call….

  44. ron says:

tracy, remember the reason we went to war was because saddam’s WMDeez posed an imminent threat and he could launch an attack on israel in 30 minutes. Not that he had some 30 year old expired munitions buried in 20′ of sand, utterlly useless and impotent. well that and his ties to al qaeda, 9-11, and his almost there nuclear program.

  45. Mark says:

This is a good idea only if Santorum goes too and if they don’t use US troops, they should use the local troops that the press here does nto report on.

Other than that I would suspect that if anything was found it would be because it was planted there. The greatest evidence that there were no WMD is that none were used in the defense of the country. Don’ you think aruthless heartless despot who will stop at nothing would have used his deadliest weapons to at least attempt to preserve his power? Circumstantial yes, but very powerfully compelling and a better argument than the “he hid them in Syria” argument the right pushes.

  46. Doodle Bug says:

Yes 2529 troops dead I hope theres a lot more American soldiers to get it.
The Iraqis are heros to defend their country
Americans were cowards to attacka country that had no Weapons at all considering they were destroyed by the UN

Americans are cowards when it comes to North Korea
Americans are cowards when it comes to Iran

America has shown to the world they are a pathetic nation

  47. jurassicpork says:

This is the definitive, quintessential definition of Republican desperation. When I think about Weldon and Hoekstra digging in the sand for WMD’s, I keep getting visions of Hope and Crosby in Road to Morocco.

Anyway, sleep in today? Fear not, for I still have Mo Do’s latest with a larger, hotter photo than usual. How would you like to like to have her for a boss? I’d eat glass for her if it was in my job description.

  48. trueblue says:

Can’t you just picture them in their little pith helmets, dressed in tan, digging away in the desert?

    Frickin’ priceless…..
    (sorry. I’m still laughing!)

  49. Godfry Daniel says:

Maybe they’ll bring back some decent opiated hashish.

  50. unbelievable says:

Is Tracy packing? Where’d he go. I figured he’d at least say thanks… and Good-bye.

  51. Solitaire says:

Maybe they won’t come back at all! Anyway, better they dig up mud in Iraq than throw mud in our faces from the floor of Congress.

  52. Quadrajet says:

#50 – Give him a minute UB, Randy’s on fire and he’s trying to put out the flames:)

  53. Solitaire says:

Doodlebug, I think I see a string hanging out your ass. Wrong hole buddy.

  54. Quadrajet says:

The WMDs still exist. They will be found mark my word and the dems will be once again crushed in November!

  55. Zookeeper says:

#47 – Loved your article on your blog, jurrasicpork. I had a boss who like to throw things at me. He was a personal injury attorney and a small man, literally and figuratively. I dodged a time or two, and then started throwing the things back at him. He stopped. :-D

  56. unbelievable says:

Give him a minute UB, Randy’s on fire and he’s trying to put out the flames:)
    Comment by Quadrajet — June 28, 2006 @ 4:43 pm

I’m glad you’re back. I haven’t laughed this hard WITH people in a while. Though much laughing AT the trolls who think I’m supposed to be affected by their idiotic insults.

  57. Zookeeper says:

  58. Trizza says:

What the senator is saying is that our military is totally inept and only he has the willpower and intelligence to find the WMD that UNSCOM, David Kay, Hans Blix, and Charles Dulfer were too dumb to find. What a slap in the face.

  59. Exley says:

Here’s a question…While I am not about to defend this Weldon-on-the-hunt scenario (If true it seems kinda silly), let me ask this — Does anybody here give any credence to the idea that Iraq may indeed still have had WMDs in the run-up to the invasion and that they may be hiiden somewhere or had been shipped to another nation?

I ask this not because I necessarily believe that. Obviously. the subsequent investigations have strongly indicated that Iraq had rid itself of most of its WMDs (Although, let us remember the Duelfer Report did say that Iraq was still conducting prohibited experiments and testing on WMD…Their hands were not totally clean).

I ask this because I still have difficulty understanding how — if Iraq was mostly WMD-
free — how and why the United States and the United Nations Security Council member-states for over 10 years, the Clinton administration, as well as the Bush administration, believed and acted on the premise that Iraq still had WMD. In short, I am asking how so many people could have been so wrong for so long????

  60. Quadrajet says:

Wow, I’m honored? I’ve apparently rattled the chain of our psychotic friend who realizes that it’s nonsensical postings are such incredible BS that it will only post under a highjacked name.

  61. Trizza says:

I meant Congressman Weldon. I apologize.

  62. trueblue says:

    Same with Krazny today!
    The thread above this one.

We know you’d never say such drivel, Quadrajet!

  63. PLC (Patriotic Liberal Christian) says:

    Quadrajet
Actually, if we put ” ” around the word “find”, it does sound like you!
Bush and Co probably will “find” WMD by October.
It’s been fun but I gotta go.

  64. Quadrajet says:

#62 – I’m not too worried trueblue, it can capture my name but not my essence:)

  65. Krazny says:

I am not really sure Exley. One thing I have said before on the WMD issue. Is the White House gave some very dire predictions, and even said they knew where the weapons were. With satelite, airplane, and covert op teams. Do you really think they could have smuggled the weapons out of those sights without anyone knowing?

  66. Quadrajet says:

#56 – Thanks UB, just returning the favor. Really been stuck with B string today eh? Guess MA hasn’t been able to slip out of court and post this afternoon.

  67. Red says:

Yes sir, two kidnapped Congressmen being held somewhere in Iraq.

  68. Exley says:

I don’t know, Krazny. It seems at first blush to be unlikely. But, although I am hardly a WMD-expert, I believe biological weapon cultures can be made to be fairly portable. Again, I am not saying I necessarily accept the still hidden-or-smuggled out theories (I don’t reject them out of hand either)…It’s just the fact that it was so commonly accepted for 10 years that Iraq had WMD that makes it hard to understand…And we can’t all blame this on Bush fabrication. The Clinton administration believed Iraq had WMD and even launched military strikes acting on that belief (Operation Desert Fox, for example)…The UN Security Council maintained the sanctions regime on Iraq and passed more than a dozen resolutions aimed at Iraq’s supposed WMD activities….I know that post-liberation investigations and interviews with former Baathists indicate that Saddam was deliberately trying to make the world BELIEVE he still had WMD. But, to me, that fact just doesn’t seem to explain completely why so many people got it wrong for so long. Does anyone have any theories or thoughts on this?

  69. unbelievable says:

Wow, I’m honored? I’ve apparently rattled the chain of our psychotic friend who realizes that it’s nonsensical postings are such incredible BS that it will only post under a highjacked name.
    Comment by Quadrajet — June 28, 2006 @ 5:01 pm

I thought you were being sarcastic.

There’s a group of left and right wing lunatic fringe who go out of there way to try to shake me. It’s not working, so they’ve become really nasty and are playing dirty. So, if I say anything that doesn’t sound like me, assume it’s not. And I’ll do likewise with all of you.

Desperate is really lame. And it just keeps getting worse the more the neocons fall out of favor.

  70. Zookeeper says:

…it can capture my name but not my essence:)
    Comment by Quadrajet

I hope they never get it right,
I heard it smells like popcorn. ;)

  71. Krazny says:

I don’t have a clear answer Exley. I suppose that a biological weapon could me smuggled out. To the best of my knowledge if you have a small amount of anthrax, you can make more.

there may have been a case of making Saddam into a bigger threat then he was, but why would the Clinton administration have reached the same conclusions. Saddam could have been manipulating the intelligence to keep the US and potential aggressive neighbors at bay. but that brings into question, could he have done that consistantly?

I apologize for any misspellings in the above post.

  72. Jimmy says:

Indiana Weldon and the Weapons of Doom
I am so embarrassed for my district. My wife and I had already decided to give to Joe Sestak (Weldon’s challenger) by the close of the quarter Friday, but I think we may need to now double our contribution…. I say take him and Hoekstra down to the Jersey shore, give them some pails, tell them its Iraq, and let them play for a while until they get all tuckered out. We could even bury some pennies there for them to find. It would be really cute.

  73. big papa says:

    …you mean somebody stopped them?

  74. big papa says:

    DAMN!

…why can’t those pesky, do-gooder progressives mind their own bees wax…

…the ACLU probably obtained an injunction to stop those two idiot TRAITORS (Weld’er and Hoaxster)…

    …for their own safety…

    …CRAP!

  75. Tracy says:

I will be sure that one of my friends in Iraq right now sends one of these shells to your house so you can “not feel scared”.

  76. unbelievable says:

I will be sure that one of my friends in Iraq right now sends one of these shells to your house so you can “not feel scared”.
    Comment by Tracy — June 30, 2006 @ 3:36 pm

I already don’t feel scared. I don’t need bombs and bullets to do that.

But, really, this is about you going over there… Put your ass where your mouth is, so to speak. What’s stopping you?
