Fox trashes Olbermann.

By Nico Pitney on Jul 11th, 2006 at 11:00 am

Fox trashes Olbermann.

“Because of his personal demons, Keith has imploded everywhere he’s worked,” Fox spokeswoman Irena Briganti told the New York Times. “From lashing out at co-workers to personally attacking Bill O’Reilly and all things Fox, it’s obvious Keith is a train wreck waiting to happen. … [W]e hope he enjoys his paranoid view from the bottom of the ratings ladder and wish him well on his inevitable trip to oblivion.”

HA! Olberman is flying high and reigning terror on Bill O! Countdown rules!

  2. Attaturk says:

Well, as long are there are no hard feelings.

  3. GSD says:

    Then they attack you.

Go Keith, you are REALLY getting under fat Roger Ailes’ skin.

  4. kindness says:

They’re sniffin’ model glue over at Phaux Pnews sounds like.

I thought they drew the line at Kool Aide. I guess I was wrong…

  5. Seixon says:

Eh… Wow. Olbermann trashes FOX on a nightly basis, but that doesn’t seem to concern Think Progress much. Only when FOX fights back does Think Progress care. Hypocrisy, thy name is Think Progress.

  6. Zooey says:

Fox must be worried about my sweet Keith Olbermann.

  7. Badmoodman says:

Olbermann is an explosive personality to work with but his employers have always tolerated him because of his talent and ratings. Keith does not suffer fools gladly and does always seem to reach a tipping point with each employer who decides he’s no longer worth the headaches. But “Countdown” is not the bottom-feeder in the ratings battle and I would hope K.O. would not take the obvious bait and get in a pissing contest with Fox. In the TV biz, you never know who your next employer will be.

  8. Bruce Gorton says:

    Attaturk

Bill O’Reilly isn’t likely to have any hard feelings any time soon, if recent news sources are anything to go by.

    Seixon

It isn’t a matter of taking offense at Fox trashing Olbermann, its a matter of Olbermann now having something to be proud of.

  9. onthefence says:

I guess that might be because Olbermann doesn’t operate under the pathos of deliberately distorting the news to misinform people and to disseminate nonstop propaganda. Therein lies the difference.

Which is why he’s so SURE about Iraq: personal experience?

He’s the living model of a hypocrite.

Of course TP isn’t “concernced” with Olbermann attacking the Faux, BECAUSE Keith is RIGHT and they should be attacked for the partison, biased bullsh*t.

  11. Admin says:

Seixon, it\’s not \”hypocrisy\” — we don\’t have a problem with Fox trashing Olbermann. They\’re free to say whatever they\’d like. We simply thought our readers would be interested.

  12. Zooey says:

Keith Olbermann is a gentleman, and no one on Fox would even understand the word, let alone the concept. If KO “attacks” anyone on Fox, it’s with their own words, backed up with tape and transcript. Keep up the good work, Keith.

  13. Larry from C says:

The interview Olberman did with John Dean (about his explosive new book) yesterday was amazing. I wish every American could’ve seen it. Olberman puts out the truth every show and that scares the bleep out of everyone at Fox.

  14. Nicho (the other one) says:

Olbermann is clearly ruffling the feathers Rupert Murdoch. The New York Post’s Lloyd Grove has been writing smear piece after smear piece about Olbermann and Fox News doesn’t waste a single opportunity to take shots at him.

Olbermann must be doing something right. Keep going Keith.

  15. Zooey says:

    #13 – Larry from C

    That interview was riveting.

  16. g says:

Olbermann lashes out? didnt o’reilly sexually harrass a woman? Doesn’t o’reilly yell and scream and cut off anyone that disagrees with him?

  17. Dr Benway says:

    @Larry from C,
Everyone can see it over at “Crooks and Liars”, John Dean on Countdown: Conservatives Without Conscience.

  18. Larry from C says:

Yesterday’s KO interview with John Dean is up at crooksandliars.com. John Dean’s new book is titled Conservatives Without Conscience. Olberman’s interview was so bold I think it explains why Fox went after him today.

Here’s a short excerpt from CrooksandLiars website:

To put it simply, Dean makes the case (with data he uncovered) that many conservatives of today need an authoritarian figure to guide them and they willingly do whatever it takes to please that figure. Dean cites G. Gordon Liddy as the perfect example of a guy willing to be shot in the street to indulge his master. He highlights the fear mongering that this administration has been using for years now as a model that allows the concept to be implemented. The way Tom Delay controlled the House is another perfect illustration of this behavior. Dean is a Barry Goldwater conservative.

  19. Southwest Bob says:

Fox must be amazed that people would actually watch a show that doesn’t slobber all over bush/cheney droppings.

  20. TripMaster Monkey says:

    - Seixon:

Olbermann takes O’Reilly, among others, to task for the distortions, inaccuracies, and lies they present as fact on FOX News and assorted satellite programs. Given that when we do that to you here, you complain that you’re being ‘demonized’, it’s not at all suprising to see you characterize that as ‘trashing’.

    Predictability, thy name is Seixon.

  21. GSD says:

Seixon, when you get a chance, light a candle on the Bush Altar that you worship.

    -GSD

  22. MisterOpus1 says:

And what’s worse, that “explosive” jerk of a guy who seemingly can’t get along with anyone he works with keeps calling up my sister and says the most filthiest and pornographic things to her. It’s absolutely disgusting, and you should hear some of the messages on our answering machine. My sister swears it was NOT what she thought she was getting into when she started working at his TV network.

But enough about O’Reilly, what did Olbermann do again?

  23. Erroll says:

    DieNowForPeace

O’Reilly is supposed to be on vacation this week. Perhaps he is simply being too modest to inform his loyal viewers that he had gone to Iraq because he wanted to be in a combat zone in order to make up for his pangs of guilt for mysteriously not being drafted and then being sent to Vietnam while wearing a military uniform. Bill O’Reilly’s motto: Be patriotic, serve your country by fighting during wartime, just as long as I am not the one who has to fight in a war. Hypocrite.

  24. Rebel With A Cause says:

    Hypocrisy, thy name is SEIXON.

  25. Bill Gant says:

Man, I love Keith. Countdown is the only show I watch on MSNBC

I love it when he goes after Bill O’Reilly and Faux News. Faux wouldn’t be lashing out against Olberman, if they weren’t pissed at him.

The fact that he and his colleges signed the petition started by Bill O’Reilly to get him fired, shows that he is the bigger man in this fued.

  26. GWB says:

    Seixon,

Fox is Newsfotainment not News. They have an agenda which is to support the Neocons. Nothing more. They are Bush’s primary disinformation outlet and thats the difference. If you watch Faux News and believe their outright lies and spin your a fool.

Fox News went to court and won the right to lie to their viewers in a Florida Court.

    See here – http://www.netfeed.com/~jhill/RupertMurdoch.htm

They use that right every day to their own discredit and disgrace.

LMAO. Ahahahaha…. Aahahhahaha. Oh man, that was funny. Keep being a sheep my friend. Olbermann is even more dishonest than David Shuster, the MSNBC propaganda crew.

    TripMaster,

Please, that’s BS and you know it. Olbermann calls FOX people the “worst person in the world” for stupid shit. He also personally attacks them for things that have nothing to do with how they cover the news. I won’t defend FOX trashing Olbermann, but you’re defending Olbermann.

Ooops, you just revealed yourself as a partisan hack. I’m my own man, I don’t let FOX News or Olbermann run my life. You let Olbermann rock your world.

Keep speaking truth to power man! Yeah!

  29. Chase says:

I used to like Olberman, but I think he caught Lou Dobbs Disease (become fanatical, blur the lines between reporting the news and opining, in an attempt to catch up with FNS). Unfortunately, it’s not working.

Here are the cable news ratings, from Fri 7/7.

  30. Chase says:

Actually, this will be more fair. From Thurs 7/6 (Olberman didn’t show up on 7/7).

Still pathetic. He’s last in the timeslot. Nancy “I’m a Damn Moron” Grace does better.

  31. Seixon says:

    GWB,

You’re hopeless. FOX News is biased to the right, most others are biased towards the left. The fact that you see FOX as “faux” while believe what the others say shows you’re a partisan dupe. I don’t watch FOX, I live in Norway. I don’t even have a TV. You’re the result of anti-FOX brainwashing. FOX is biased, but so is everyone else. Just in different directions. If you call FOX “faux”, then you have to say that about the New York Times and CBS as well. You’re just trying to have your cake and eat it too.

  32. JPV says:

Eh… Wow. Olbermann trashes FOX on a nightly basis, but that doesn’t seem to concern Think Progress much. Only when FOX fights back does Think Progress care. Hypocrisy, thy name is Think Progress.

    Comment by Seixon — July 11, 2006 @ 11:09 am

Does Olbermann’s nightly shtick really warrant reporting? IMO, his nightly stories are just routine and don’t justify constant scrutiny.

Meanwhile, a FOX Spokesperson giving an interview to a 3rd party paper (NY Times), and airing their dirty laundry with MSNBC for all the world to see, is NOT a routine event and does, IMO, potentially warrant reporting.

Either way, TP makes no bones about having a Liberal/Progressive agenda. Focusing on stories that reflect that point of view is it’s reason for existence in the same manner that pushing a Neo-conservative point of view is FOX’s prerogative. What’s the surprise in that?

  33. kindness says:

So, why do our reichties, seixon today, write stuff here at all? Chase, you actually say stuff, so I’m excluding you from this, but do the other guys & ma (where did she go anyhow?) get off trying to piss us off? I can’t think of another reason that makes any sense at all. It isn’t like they might convert someone by slinging shit around at liberals here.

Sometimes, it’s best just to wonder & not get caught up in it. Life is too valuable to spend it needlessly on the dimwhitted.

  34. dlet says:

Please, that’s BS and you know it. Olbermann calls FOX people the “worst person in the world” for stupid shit.

That is exactly what he does. He calls the news whores at Fox on the “stupid shit” they say and do.

  35. Bill Gant says:

Man, if you look at the ratings, Countdown on most days has better ratings than Scarborough Country, but no one goes after Joe Scarborough, because he’s in bed with the repugs.

  36. Seixon says:

    JPV,

It’s a matter of fact that Olbermann is an unstable person and has had problems wherever he has been employed. That FOX points this out is, well, nothing other than stating the obvious. It’s a matter of fact. Look at Olbermann’s Wikipedia entry. The dude has been floating around all over the place due to having problems virtually everywhere he has worked.

    dlet,

So if O’Reilly says something dumb, that makes him “the worst person in the world”?? Only partisan dupes would legitimize such immature and hyperbolic behavior.

  37. nffcnnr says:

KO’s bold and heroic battle for truth against the Fux News Channel continues. The Fux lame personal attacks do little to change viewers’ opinions of KO, but instead show how desparate FNC is to hold onto its religious right-wing radical sycophants. Notice how they attack KO’s character, but don’t address the facts he presents and their own words he uses to back them up. What a bunch of crybabies. KO will eventually overtake Bellow Rightiously in the ratings and truth and real journalism will have prevailed.
The Big Giant Head will then come completely unhinged and in a final meltdown physically attack a guest who kicks his ass on the TeeVee.

  38. liberal idiot says:

i am one of the people who watch KO regularly. i see the other 5 or 6 are logged in here too. hi fellas

  39. DieNowForPeace says:

“Wah, the truth has a liberal bias, wah, wah, WAH!!!!”

  40. MisterOpus1 says:

Oh Seixon, I see you moved on to greener pastures from Soto’s The Left Coaster. Do you feel more at ease on this blog, or will it be yet another temporary stay?

And I must admit that if there’s some sort of argument you are attempting to present, you really haven’t given much substance behind that argument. Assertions about “everyone else is biased to the Left” is a key talking point passed on by the Right Wing Noise Machine for decades now. Surely a so-called center of left individual as yourself would recognize that. Or did you actually call yourself a Democrat at one point? Honestly I can’t remember, but regardless you’ve always entertained!

  41. Zooey says:

    Bill Gant,

Countdown is the only show that is watchable on MSNBC. When KO was followed by Rita Cosby, it was always a mad dash to the remote before we heard her voice.

  42. KenoshaMarge says:

O’Reilyy lies and Keith Olbermann is kind enough to point out the errors of his ways. If you don’t like it, or can’t take it, don’t watch it. Why haunt liberal sites? Haven’t you anything better to do?

  43. JPV says:

Please, that’s BS and you know it. Olbermann calls FOX people the “worst person in the world” for stupid shit. He also personally attacks them for things that have nothing to do with how they cover the news. I won’t defend FOX trashing Olbermann, but you’re defending Olbermann.

    Comment by Seixon — July 11, 2006 @ 11:41 am

At a certain point all this TV news is more or less theatre. Witness the further blurring of the lines when, by many people’s opinions, some of the best news analysis on TV is considered to be “The Daily Show”.

I always felt that Olbermann’s “Worst Person” segment was akin to Letterman’s “Top 10 List”. I don’t take it that seriously. For better or worse, it’s all pretty much become entertainment and/or propaganda.

Somewhat fitting considering the surreal times that we live in.

  44. liberal idiot says:

  45. Bill Gant says:

And the even bigger reason that non-conservative, non-bullsh*t TV show don’t have a good ratings is because most left leaning americans, choose to:

    1. Read a book
    2. visit a friend
    3. Play some kind of sport.

instead, drinking a six pack and watching Faux News.

Infact, I think the reason we have neo-cons, is because Faux News tell conservatives what to think while they are drunk.

  46. onthefence says:

Olbermann is even more dishonest than David Shuster, the MSNBC propaganda crew.

Got any examples Seixon? Fox distorts news everyday and rarely do they ever issue retractions. They also scrub transcripts, I haven’t heard of MSNBC doing that.

  47. kindness says:

the swiftboating of Keith Oberman continues with Think Progress’s trolls.

  48. Zooey says:

    #40 – That’s some pretty interesting info, MisterOpus1. ;)

  49. Chase says:

Man, if you look at the ratings, Countdown on most days has better ratings than Scarborough Country, but no one goes after Joe Scarborough, because he’s in bed with the repugs.

I don’t think people go after Scarborough because he’s not in the heads-up timeslot with O’Reilly. Olberman, and Countdown, is the premiere show on the network

Not to mention Olberman has made it a daily concern to vigorously attack O’Reilly and FNC. It’s not that I don’t see why (O’Reilly is obnoxious) but isn’t it a bit tacky the way Olberman does it?

  50. liberal idiot says:

yeah!! liberal fools never watch tv!! we just read and do cool stuff. we are better than everybody!

  52. moonbat patrol says:

  53. kelso rich says:

I’m sure O’Reilly never lashes out at anybody. Especially his left leaning guests.

  54. Bill Gant says:

    Zooey #41,

That’s exactly what I do. I usually have my hand on the remote, at the 59th minute, so I can turn off the TV, and not poisen my mind any more by all of these pundits that tell people what to think and how to vote.

  55. Brian says:

It raelly doesn’t matter what you think of Olberman – his popularity is growing (a lot of it having to do with his bashing of O’Reilly… that’s what made me first take notice of him) – and this interview really shows that he is becoming a major force.

  56. Big John says:

Given enough rope KO will hang himself as always. Then become the professional victim he’s destin to be. Its a cycle he repeats often

    Comment by Seixon — July 11, 2006 @ 11:52 am

Fair enough, but… I think that it’s also safe to say that O’Reilly has some major “demons” of his own to deal with. I don’t recall Olbermann ever having any charges of repulsive sexual harassment levied at him… like O’Reilly has. Talk about hypocrisy! What business does a “conservative” pundit have behaving in such a manner. Why his “conservative” viewers would condone this sort of behavior is beyond me.

Anyway, I was just responding to your accusations of hypocrisy that you leveled at TP. You didn’t seem to address that aspect of my post. You just kind of veered off in a different direction… in what seems like an attempt to change the subject. It would be nice if you would actually address the issues that you raise and follow through with them.

  58. Jane E. Schneider says:

Bill and Zooey, I had to laugh when I saw your posts! Wayne and I do the same thing, and, if we miss our timing, we talk loudly to drown her out until we can hit the mute. After we sat through Rita’s “interview” with Tom Delay a few months ago (lugubrious husky voice: “Was it the worst day of your life?”), I swore I never wanted to hear her voice again. If she was intelligent and was actually capable of doing a good interview, we’d put up with her, but…

  59. Bill Gant says:

I think that most people don’t understant that when Olberman attacks Faux and Bill O’Reilly, it’s usually done in a humorous, light hearted way.

When Bill O’Reilly attacks, it’s usually vicious and insulting.

  60. kelso rich says:

To be fair to those living in Norway, Seixon is an idiot and does not represent the thoughts and opinions of the vast majority of the Norwegian people.

  61. Jason says:

Let’s see, the interest alone on the national debt is $353 billion this year, which is way higher ever since Bush has pushed tha national debt to over $8 trillion from under $6 trillion. The debt was being paid down even. Then Bush took office and maxed out our credit, and we had to get our limit extended.

The military budget is over $400 billion a year. Add that to the interest paid on the national debt, most of which is past military spending, and you’ve got about $900 billion a year spent on our military. Our total budget outlays are about $2.2 trillion a year. Isn’t that amazing? If we cut military expenditures in half, we’d still outspend all other nations many times over, but we’d eliminate the national debt in “short order.”

O’Reilly is a lot more balanced in terms of people he has on the show that the big orange head. All Herr olbermeister ever has on is the same old liberal morons on who say exactly what KO want to hear and they kiss his ass while doing it.
In the past year I had one of the “vituperative” e-mail battles with this jerk-off and I plan to publish them soon just to show wahtan absolute biased sliome ball this scumbag really is. I sent him a very respectful e-mail , but one that differed from his NY liberal lockstep ideology and he was the rudest most condescending little asshole (well outside of some of the moonbats here of course) I have ever had the displeasure of dealing with. Hell even when I e-mail Jack Cafferty of CNN, although he is a far left guy, he is still respectful. The big orange head was like a little rabid poodle.
I urge you to go to olbermannwatch.com to keep up on some of the idiotic ramblings of this pseudo-newscaster who is now of course the new messiah of the far left. Figures they would latch on to this babbling moron.
I agree with the writer in one of the previous posts who said that this douche bag will self destruct.
and olbermann if you read ( he probably will being so narcacissitic and vain) this know that there are those out in your viewing audience who are doing all they can to show the world what a fool you are. Then when you are fired you and that dirty queer Musto can fist each other til your heart’s content.

How can you have an opinion about Fox’s programming if you don’t watch it?

  76. moonbat patrol says:

sorry for my typos in the last post but this guy REALLY pisses me off. Not so much that he is a liberal but that he is just a condescending asshole. As far as ratings go he is still not 1/6th of O’reilley’s. Yeah people watch him now. Like the author of the article said he is the proverbial train wreck you just cannot look away from. i actually tune in to him sometimes until I get the overwhelming urge to throw something at the TV .
Ship sinkig eh?? heck even Canada& Mexico elected conservative presidents and the democrats being the party of chickenshits, socialists and liars will see once again how much America likes them in the fall elections. But keep deluding yourself and do EXACTLY what you have done since 1994 – open your liberal mouths and lose elections.

  77. Unholy Moses says:

    Oh, and on topic …

I don’t have cable, but used to enjoy Olberman a great deal on ESPN back in college — his takes were original and you could tell the guy’s got amazing smarts.

I caught his MSNBC show a few times on before we all but threw out the idiot box, and viewed it as a video broadcast of a blog. It’s basically some news, sprinkled with some opiniona and dashed liberally with a great deal of snark.

The fact that Fox is going after him shows that he got their attention and are worried he’ll overtake them in the ratings.

  78. Bill Gant says:

Read the NY TIMES article about Keith Olberman

  79. Big John says:

  81. Unholy Moses says:

    JPV–

Is this true that your IT department blocks certain sites? Where the hell do you work at?

I can’t say where I work, but yes … My biggest issue is with WHAT is blocked — they’ve blocked EVERY liberal blog except this one and The Carpetbagger Report.

Meanwhile, RedState, Malkin, LGF, et al are all wide open.

Granted, it is their network and they can do whatever the hell they want. But I get all my work done (and then some) and there’s no policy against surfing the net.

A former boss thought their blocking policy was assinine — and he used to work at the Pentagon (where they were more free than this place).

  82. Big John says:

libs dont lose elections they have them all stolen from them. KO champions that concept after each loss. I’ll hate to see him go

  83. Unclechuck says:

I don’t agree. Everything I’ve seen lately (and I tend to watch him 3 or so nights a week) is pretty cutting.

    I just don’t think O’Reilly is scared.

Countdown is the only show I watch on MSNBC. Also, Scarface follows Keith now not Rita. I think Countdown is a review of the days news with the most important stories at the beginning followed by lighter pieces. Keith is one of the few people on TV who directly confront the lies and distortions we hear everyday on TV. Who else shows us that the people in our government and media will tell us a direct lie? What reporter ever asks ‘you said this a year ago and the opposite yesterday, please explain’.
What is wrong with having some humor in the news rather than the latest about Duke rape or Natalie Holloway?
Keith provides a great counterbalance to the lies, distortions and outrageous comments over at Fox. Oh, by the way lets talk about Bush’s or Cheney’s balanced, normal personalities.

  97. Prouddem says:

I love it when people like Moonbat patrol post because it just perpetuates the truth about these people and their true agenda. 109. Seixon says:

    Gregor,

Yeah, because I can never see clips of FOX and other channels on blogs. Nope. Doesn’t exist.

    Unclechuck,

    It’s really easy. Olbermann – honest. O’Rielly – liar.

Bahahaha. Yeah, sure. Both of them fudge, only hopeless dupes as yourself don’t see it.

Fox – Propaganda wing of Administration a la Joseph Goebbels.

Wow, so a media sources that tends to agree with Bush is propaganda? What, they can’t have conservative opinions without being compared to Goebbels? Wow. In other words, conservative opinion should be outlawed from the media because a conservative is president? That sounds more like Goebbels than anything else.

MSM – NOT “Left Wing” There is NO left wing medea. That is another “O’Rielly/Fox” myth that you seem to have bought into. Maybe you should get a TV, or a life?

You’re right. The media isn’t “left-wing”. It’s Democratic. 70-80% of journalists are Democrats. Figure it out, dupe.

    Anon1,

That’s the only reason why moonbat (aptly named) and Seixon are in such a tizzy.

I’m in a tizzy? LOL. I’m just pointing out how dumb all of you are because you think Olbermann speaks the truth more than FOX does. In the end Olbermann has some of the lowest ratings on television, which is why he needs to attack FOX and others on a daily basis to try and get a reaction. He’s like a tiny dog yappering loudly trying to get someone to notice him and his attacks. Only ones in a tizzy are those who ignore Olbermann’s filth, his low ratings, and his dishonesty while pretending FOX is in trouble.

Sorry folks, but I don’t have to be a conservative to point out the fact that Olbermann gets bitch-slapped by FOX shows in ratings.

  117. GSD says:

Big John? Big must refer to your beer gut and not your brain. KO has constantly increased his numbers.

    -GSD

  118. John says:

That’s hilarious. Even when Faux attacks someone, they can’t help but distort and lie there too. Keith owned Bill O and Faux by showing the ratings zooming for Countdown and plummeting for the Fraud Factor. Keith attacking co-workers, awww, that certainly isn’t better than the crew over there like Ailes who have personally attacked employees. Or Bill O stalking Ms. Mackeris and wanting her to use a Falafel on him? Or sendng police to a listener’s house because they dare mention Keith’s name. It’s ok Bill, when you sleep and all you see is Keith in there haunting you. Keith haunts Bill and Fraud News. Don Imus said on his show that Countdown’s ratings are growing all the time and even mocked O’Reilly for sending Fraud to attack.

  119. Redleg says:

    Seixon,
Olberman criticizes O’Reilly’s many lies, distortions, and inane comments. O’Reilly can’t handle it so he tries to get Olberman fired or gets a Fox Bully Boy (or Girl) to attack Olberman.

You are an apologist for a serial liar and pervert.

  120. Redleg says:

Seixon claims that he is not a partisan hack. HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA. I have yet to see him criticize Bush or recognize any weakness of Bush.

Seixon claims the networks tilt left- I say b.s to that. How often do you see an employee advocate, union official, environmental advocate, or consumer advocate on the mainstream news business reports? Instead they tend to have laissez-faire, free-market worshipping, low wage loving corporatist shills. The media is nowhere near being left of center on economic issues and they are moving to the right on social issues.

  121. Marie says:

Oh this is funny! The shills at Fox are upset over Olbermann!

  124. Seixon says:

    TripMaster,

I never watch O’Reilly, nor do I give one flaming shit what the man has to say. So how is he my hero? Oh, you just needed another strawman to fire from your bow.

    Redleg,

    Olbermann lies too, dupe.

Seixon claims that he is not a partisan hack. HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA. I have yet to see him criticize Bush or recognize any weakness of Bush.

In this thread? This thread isn’t about Bush. Other than that, I have criticized Bush, but most of the shit on this blog is completely nonsense. I haven’t seen you around before, so I’m wondering how you know anything about my record here.

You must be watching something completely different than anyone else. In addition to that, environmental advocates, etc. are actually writing the news. Ross Gelbspan is a good example.

The media is Democratically biased, not biased towards the left. There’s a distinct difference there. As I said, over 70% of journalists are Democrats, so it’s not strange that the coverage is biased in that way, and against Republicans.

  125. TripMaster Monkey says:

    - Seixon:

I never watch O’Reilly, nor do I give one flaming shit what the man has to say.

Not that I believe you for one second, but if the above sentence was true, how could you possibly come to the conclusion that Olbermann is no more truthful than Fox?

And before you try to wriggle out of this one, here are your words:

I’m just pointing out how dumb all of you are because you think Olbermann speaks the truth more than FOX does.

And I’m just pointing out that you’re a liar.

Thanks again, and keep up the bad work.

  126. Seixon says:

    TripMaster,

Not that I believe you for one second, but if the above sentence was true, how could you possibly come to the conclusion that Olbermann is no more truthful than Fox?

Media Matters, Think Progress and the rest of the Liberal Stovepipe call out everything FOX does. I can simply compare that to whatever Olbermann is reported to have done, and thus it is quite easy to see that Olbermann and O’Reilly are much the same when it comes to honesty. One spins from the right, the other from the left.

And I’m just pointing out that you’re a liar.

Where’s the proof of the lie? You’re pointing it out, but I don’t see you actually showing that I did lie. As usual.

  127. TripMaster Monkey says:

  138. Seixon says:

    TripMaster,

That’s a direct contradiction to what you’ve posted before, accusing liberals of ‘believing anything TP says’ and being ‘brainwashed’.

Sigh. You can’t read. I said, “Anyone can assess whether those are saying things correctly or not.” The problem with people at TP and other partisan sites is that they can, but they won’t and don’t. We’ve already seen examples here of people who still don’t know that Blanco didn’t ask for troops until August 31. If they had done research, they would have easily found the video of her admitting this on CNN.

It’s a question of will, and most partisans have no will to assess whether their favorite site is telling them the truth or not. In fact, when I make light of TP not being fair or factual, I get attacked – they don’t want to know the truth.

I can understand how your meglomania would lead you to think that you were immune to the spin, as your brain is so much mightier than the paltry sacs of neurons filling the skulls of your opponents, but that’s not what you said. You didn’t say that you can assess whether those are saying things correctly or not…you said that anyone can assess whether those are saying things correctly or not, directly contradicting your earlier rantings.

It’s only a contradiction if you’re illiterate. Anyone CAN prevent being a brainwashed dupe, but that doesn’t mean that everyone does. Anyone CAN commit suicide, that doesn’t mean that everyone does. Capisce?

In short, yet another lie. Caught again, Seixon.

You are quite obsessed with calling me a liar. Let’s try this, Mr. Smarty Pants. What if I had said, “Anyone can commit suicide.” Then in another crazy statement, I say, “TP commenters don’t commit suicide.”

You would call me a liar, apparently. Why? Well, because you’re illiterate or disingenuous. Pick your poison, sir.

Did I say that you look at only one side? Please post the relevant quote.

Yes, because you compared me with the Think Progress commenters who only look at one side.

(Oh, that’s right…it doesn’t exist. Two lies in one post….the wheels are coming off today, aren’t they?)

Zero lies, and a whole lot of you being illiterate and disingenuous.

  139. MisterOpus1 says:

    Seixon opines:

As I said, over 70% of journalists are Democrats, so it’s not so strange that the coverage is biased in that way…

And whom do you believe holds more power over those airwaves, the journalists or their corporate editors and executives? Does this information sent out by these journalists somehow bypass their bosses above?

And then the follow up question – whom do you believe those editors and corporate executives tend to vote for, Democrat or Republican? (hint: it doesn’t begin with a “D”)

And finally, are you, by chance, depicting your 70% number from the latest Pew Research study, the one in which O’Reilly, Hannity, Limbaugh, and the others from the Right Wing Noise Machine utilized to supposedly demonstrate that darn “librul” bias in the media? If I remember correctly, about 1/3 of the national journalists describe themselves as liberals vs. 7% conservatives, with the remaining 54% calling themselves moderates. You wouldn’t be lumping in moderates in the Democratic journalists the way your Noise Machine brethren did, would you? Pew also gave a word of caution about self-described liberal journalists:

“But what does liberal mean to journalists? We would be reluctant to infer too much here. The survey includes only four questions probing journalists’ political attitudes, yet the answers to these questions suggest journalists have in mind something other than a classic big government liberalism and something more along the lines of libertarianism. More journalists said they think it is more important for people to be free to pursue their goals without government interference than it is for government to ensure that no one is in need.”

    http://people-press.org/reports/display.php3?PageID=825

Or perhaps you were using the American Journalists Survey of 2002 that found 37% of journalists as self-described Democrats (just a few % points above the general population of Dems., mind you), 18.6% Republicans, and 33.5% as independents. Again, you didn’t just lump independents with Democrats here, did you?:

    http://www.poynter.org/content/content_view.asp?id=28235

So I’d be interested exactly about this liberal bias you keep mentioning and where exactly your figures are derived from.

Finally, how has Judy Miller been lately?

  141. JIMBO says:

Sexion and MoonMoron Patrol deserve each other. And while they are at it, they need to rub themselves down with a couple of felafels.

Other than that, Olbermann is a true journalist regardless of whether he covers politics, social issues and sports. There are stories in which all three are combined.
From Jackie Robinson to Hank Aaron. But I want to say that if the trolls don’t think that sportscasters should be serious newspeople, what about Jim McKay’s coverage of the kidnap and murder of Isreali Olympic athletes in Munich during the 1972 Games?
What about ESPN covering the 1989 S.F. Earthquake when a baseball game was being played? How about Bryant Gumbel, who deserved to be on the CBS Evening News? He did damn good if you ask me.

Hey trolls, chill out and stop being scared of true journalism. Faux News is only crass entertainment for those who hate anyone whose not a white male. But you just go ahead and and suck on the KKKarl Rove and the republiKKKans. We’ll settle for the voices of reason: Olberman, Stewart and Colbert.

  142. moonbat patrol says:

liberal definition of troll: somebody who dares not follow the liberal lockstep and dares expose the liberal nuttiness on a liberal moonbat website.
KKK: when the thre letters KKK are used in the liberal context it is code for “hey I got nothin’ so I am gonna call you names”
hey jimbo does the shining ray of truth ever hit you and tell yout that clobert, and the daily show and yes even countdown are FAKE NEWS SHOWS??
if Gumball, stewart et al are where you are getting your information then it is no wonder you are confused, disoriented and misinformed. to call any of the liberal comedians true and reliable news sources must also imply that you get your sense of drama and intelligence from the Saturday morning cartoons and your sense of righteousness from the mutant ninja turtles. get real fool ! once again countdown, the daily show. and the colbert report are FAKE NEWS SHOWS and apparently your brain is fake too because nobody, NOBODY would actually admit in good faith that they actually BELIEVE these comedians as actually reporting real and unobjective news.
but thanks for proving my point that you are a moonbat, now put down that bong and pay attention.

  143. Bluedog49 says:

Why would FOX attack Olberman if Olberman wasn’t a problem for them? His ratings are going north while O’Lielly’s ratings are going south. FOX has absolutely nobody with an ounce of humor. The reason? Conservatives aren’t funny. Funny is speaking to power, not for power. Dennis Miller, for example, used to be amusing because he was speaking to power. Where is he now?

  144. Bluedog49 says:

Moonbat patrol, you need to read King Lear. One of the timeless themes of King Lear is the difficulty of speaking to power. In King Lear, the only one who can tell the truth is “The Fool.” On any given day, we see things on Daily Show that we don’t see in the main stream news. You probably missed the study which showed that people who regularly watched the Daily Show knew more about what was going on than those who regularly watched FOX news. The education level of Daily Show watchers is higher than that of viewers of The O’Lielly Factor..

  145. Steve53 says:

92 why haven’t YOU been banned?? your hero the big orange head talked about fisting on HIS TV show. should he be taken off the air? well, um, er, YES to that question
    ============
He was discussing Ann Coulter’s obsession with that subject.

It was your ignorant, insulting homosexual reference that makes you ban-worthy.

  146. Steve53 says:

    I just saw Olbermann’s rebuttal.

    Burn!

  147. TropMaster Monkey says:

    - Steve53:

As did I…it was especially funny how he couldn’t keep from giggling as he stated how high Countdown’s raitings have risen and how far the Report’s ratings have fallen. Great stuff.

katy, you’re breaking my heart. What is it in particular — there’s so much going on.
Don’t worry, WE WILL BE GRANDMAS. Ok?

Before I heard that, Steve53, I hadn’t thought of it that way, but I do see it now. That thing about G. Gordon Liddy being willing to be shot on the street for the cause, was horrifying. How do we fight against that kind of thinking? Not that I would consider NOT fighting them, of course.

  150. Destardi says:

Wow. THAT is classy. An official statement, backed by the management of Fox news, vs. rebuttals/attacks by a single talking head (olbermann) are simply not
    comparable.

Faux news is about as respectable as a crack whore. Mean-spirited and vindictiveness
from the top down, eh, faux boy?

    Yuck.

  151. moonbat patrol says:

#144 then maybe YOU need to do some reading yourself. How about the irrational power that the olbermeister has on you and your little liberal friends?
#145 free speech only for you liberals again? Hypocrisy is your standard isn’t it. Oh and heaven forbid I should say something ill about your beloved fags right?? Another liberal species that nobody can criticize. who cares if you or the queers are offended ? too damn bad
#146 yeah some burn. lay off the funy substances dude you are seeing thing . olbernut couldn’t burn his ass if he sat on his won stove.
you leftards claim that we conservatives are cult like in our views of Oreilly and others well youare wrong . it is you leftards who are so blindly and hopefully waiting for your “news” messiah to come along and it looks like you are still waiting. You have not got your Rush or Coulter of Hannity or Savage. all you have is some sorry excuses like the big orange head and moore and franken. pathetic sniveling little worms in the chewing their way thru the rotting carcass that was liberalism. I hope you keep it up tho like I always say. One of the main reasons conservatives win is because moonbat liberals open their mouths and show how ridiculous and crazy they really are. Keep up the good work!

  152. Ken says:

Only idiot trolls watch FAUX News, Olberman tells it like it is about those lying sacks of shit. There is no reason to ever watch FAUX when you get better updates on the Comedy Channel…

Only morons would watch the Pravda network (FOX).

    Hey, MoonMoron,

Olbermann just took your trolly ass to school and you have no ammunition to back up your silly claims that Faux News is superior. Faux News and Joesph Goebbels have more common with you and each other than common sense. Go back to your mama’s basement and cry in your sleep.

    YOU GOT SCHOOLED, KIDDO!

NYT Puff Piece on Olbermann Makes No Mention of Poor Ratings
Posted by Ian Schwartz on July 11, 2006 – 12:43.
The New York Times ran a sycophantic story on the “success” of “Countdown” and how it has become the “centerpiece” of MSNBC’s lineup. Throughout the article, columnist Bill Carter discusses Countdown’s ratings only by its growth and not by actual numbers. An ignorant reader would come away thinking that Olbermann is some television star who is a real competitor in the cable news race. The only indication Carter gives of Olbermann’s ratings is when he calls “Countdown” a “dot in the rearview mirror of Fox News.”

  159. liberal idiot says:

Too bad Olbermann’s inflated opinion of himself doesn’t reflect his ratings

    O’Reilly has decent ratings,for cable.

    “Professional” wrestling has decent ratings,too.

Same kind of viewers:Many viewers think that both are real.(i.e.,many O’Reilly viewers believe that his commentary is actually a “no-spin zone”).

    Steve,

    No harm no foul…

…just my primitive way of agreeing w/you…

    …I apologize if I sounded flippant…

  164. Dan, MI says:

What I don’t get about Keith Olbermann’s show verses O’Reilly is all of the jokes and comedic overtones. And lets not forget all the bashing of Fox and Republicans. Here I thought there was major concern about the world and war but, Olbermann just makes another joke about how bad Bush and O’Reilly are. Hey Keith people are dying and your pointing fingers and cracking jokes. You may not like Bush and O’Reilly but, at least their doing something besides telling jokes and poking fun at people. These are serious times and levity does not belong in any story of attacks by terroists or people dying. Maybe you should do your news from a playground where your format might go over better.
