The saddest thing about this is that the $2 increase to the minimum wage in no way affects the members of Congress or their paycheck or their raise and would go a long way to appease their constituents, who would be grateful to them. They are hate-filled, mean-spirited people.

Isn’t it interesting how this raise for the White House staff (on a per hour basis) is almost equal to the proposed raise for our nations least paid and the White House staff gets it immediately but those currently making minimum wage would have to wait for two years if the increase in minimum wage were to pass to enjoy it’s full effect?

Why is a hike in the minimum wage like flushing money down the toilet to rightards instead of putting more money in peoples hands to stimulate the ecomomy?

If the minimum wage had been raised 25 cents a year, for the past 8 years, it would be at $7.15 now, so the Congress has caused this problem! Jumping it 2 bucks an hour now could harm small business owners, but nonetheless it has to be raised to keep up with inflation!

Do any of you realize that the 50% price hike in labor would be immediately accompanied by a 50% hike in the cost of the food? Raising the minimum wage would hurt everyone NOT on minimum wage, which is most of you I would assume.

Has anyone realised that since the last minimum wage increase people on the minimum wage have effectively been having their pay CUT every time inflation increases. It is seriously about time they got a pay rise – the companies paying most of these people can certainly afford it.
3 kids or no, $5 for an hour’s work is simply pathetic.

Our public servants should be paid minimum wage. Period.

We did not elect them to enrich them financially. They are supposed to work for us, but knowing this doesn’t change history, I guess.

Sleezebags all, and all need to be replaced unless they are for getting out of the entire middle east, unless they are for impeachment of bush and investigating his administration for war crimes charges and convictions (no pardons) and unless they are forcing a re-opening of 9/11 investigations so they are public and complete.

Also, no outside funding for elections. Everyone should be on a level playing field for that.

No more bushes or clintons.
