Can any of you cite even one Democrat in the Senate who would not go forward with this investigation. http://mmsn.info/sitemap.htm Even frickin Joe Lieberman wants this investigation for crissakes! If Dems run the committee, the investigation will move forward quickly.

Ed Schultz probably knows more about
today's political climate than you realize.
Why did you post that?

Sen. Harry Reid thinks the Democrats might retake the Senate, but if Lieberman, Ben Nelson and Feinstein get re-elected the Dems still lose, because those 3 are really GOP members who masquerade as Dems! Democrats could retake the House of Representatives, if Nancy Pelosi was more aggressive and not caving to the GOP so much!

that is where you are mistaken, #34.

don't confuse 'lock-step' with a cohesive vision and a consistent view of what is and what is not shameful. if being a 'democrat' means anything, then, it ought to mean that certain things should not be tolerated... if, as you imply, being a democrat means 'we don't speak in one voice' then they should call themselves the BABALIST party, and should move out of the way and have the PROGRESSIVES pick up the slack they are too lazy, too corrupt, too fractured to pick up themselves.

Abby and bs, don't get me wrong. I'm not saying the Dems are even near perfect. But, we have to work with what we've got here. James Risser, if you expect the Democratic party to march in lock-step like Stalinists or like the current Repub party, you're always going to be disappointed. Democrats don't speak with exactly the same voice and I'm fine with that. The strict, talking point lockstep, always on message discipline of the Repub party reminds me of Stalinist Russia.

the democrats have 44/45 votes. they can shut down the senate and block any and all cloture votes. they can walk out in protest. they 'parliamentary inquiry' the president of the senate all day long. they can filibuster. they can speak for as long as they can stand on two feet. this 'we can't do anything because we aren't the majority...whaa whaa whaa' is NOT true.

they can stop the war machine, but, i don't think twenty or thirty of them have the balls....

#21 Bluedog49, You are right. Beyond the fact that our representatives, most of the time, read speeches drafted by their corporate sponsors, I have no idea of how our government works.

I do know that the simple act of withdrawing unanimous consent on each and every request would seriously hamper how efficiently business is conducted of the floor of the Senate. Hamper it enough, I think, to cause serious problems and force the Republicans to concede some of the Democrats’ demands. There have to be many other ways.

The Democrats may not have the power to forward Bills, subpoena witnesses or even go to the bathroom without permission but do you seriously believe that the Democrats have done all that they can to make Roberts move on Phase II? I do not think they have.

As you can tell, I am no Democrat but I will vote for the Democrats. You know how it is; an enemy of my enemy is my friend. I may get lucky though. With all the non-work the Democrats are doing to ensure fair elections next time around, my vote may not even be counted.

bluedog49

i believe your missing my point. i do lean to the left when voting. when in doubt vote for demo. we are together on that. all i'm saying is in this world today it is hard to lean to the left when the left is right of center. i hear alot of talking points on the left by the left but they don't veer to far from the right. for example min. wage, if we must go there.the repubs say no but the dems say $2. come on now. $2 lousy, scrimpy dollars. why not raise min. at least $9? it can be done by ending pork and who is going to do that. by stopping congress on giving themselves raises for however much and whenever they feel like it. cut the presidents pay and the pay for former presidents. cap on corporate wealth. now we would be comparing apple to oranges. i'm not a fatalist, i'm a realist. i don't make excuses for the left or the right. i call it as i see it. and i see alot of bullshit. maybe you didn't see my other post to you stating i was for gore hoping to carry on a somewhat clinton era. where is my view going to help the corporations? my view is that noone, i mean noone deserves that much money like these corps are ranking in. i believe in spreading the funds to all. afterall the middle class is what america thrives on. and sorry right now i believe we need to revolt instead of this 'incremental change' to nowhere. and that is where it is headed.

I've heard of the Rothchilds. You don't grow up living in the same town as Alex Jones without hearing each and every conspiracy theory that has ever been thought up.

I used to think Alex was nuts... but after living through the last 6 years.. I dunno what to think anymore. He seems less and less crazy every day.

Maybe the world is just going crazy.

Can any of you cite even one Democrat in the Senate who would not go forward with this investigation. Even frickin Joe Lieberman wants this investigation for crissakes! If Dems run the committee, the investigation will move forward quickly.

bs: "no matter what it will always lean right of center."

You seem sure of that. I'm sorry that I have to break this to you, but we're still in charge. By all means, support the leftiest people you can. I do. But when the rubber meets the road, I make my decisions in the real world. That's why I didn't vote for Nader. Gore, I felt, was a lot farther to the left than Bush. Now, really, can you point to more than a few of the hundreds of congressional races and say that the Repub is more to the left than the Dem? Come on, now. Change is incremental or it's not change -- it's revolution. But your kind of fatalism isn't going to solve any problems and it isn't going to get us anywhere but more corporate control. Corporate power wants you to be apathetic. Corporate power wants you to believe that you can't change anything. Corporate power wants you to believe there are no differences between the major political parties.
