Seixon says:
I’m not seeing the botching. Clinton was clearly talking about “we” as in the Senate Democrats. She uses that all throughout what she said. In fact, anyone who can read can see that she was in fact talking about the Democrats doing controversial things that inflamed the Republican base, which she said was a waste of time.
Good for her, she gets it. Democrats need to stop attacking the Republicans and actually put forth ideas on how to change the country. You don’t win elections by saying “we hate Bush”. You win elections by telling people exactly what you’re going to do, and how you’re going to do it. That is, if the people agree with you.
Can anyone explain how Kornblut botched this story at all?
“So we do other things, we do things that are controversial, we do things that try to inflame their base so that they can turn people out and vote for their candidates.”
If “we” isn’t Democrats, but Republican lead congress, then who is the THEY in “their base” and “their candidates”? It’s pretty obvious she’s been trying to sound more moderate lately. This speech just confirms it…creating angst for TP libs.
Actually, gay marriage was raised by the Massachusettes Supreme Court and the Mayor of San Francisco, causing the single greatest grassroots movement since the 1960’s, which led to almost 20 states passing amendments to their state constitutions to define marriage as between one man and one woman, all of which passed with 70 – 90 percent of the vote. If proglodites want a model for how to address individual issues within states within a grassroots contruct, they need only look at the anti-gay marriage movement in the states for an example.
the NYT took a few lines of her comments so far out of context as to make them totally unrelated to her original statement’s meaning… plain and simple…
imagine that…
. . . but we actually do hate Bush. The NYT and GOP are fanatical in their preoccupation with Hillary Clinton–a lot like their perseveration on Bill Clinton’s selfish behavior–recall that in their pursuit for the “truth” the GOP was willing to spend $70 million to find out about that blue stain on Monica Lewinski’s dress. The more time the NYT and GOP spend on the Clintons the less attention is spent on the do-nothing Republican leadership–unless you consider death-death-corruption something.
Well one thuing that cannot be taken out of context is her vote to wage a foolish choice to invade and occupy Iraq, and her further blunders in advocatinb MORE troops as the solution to the slaughter and chaos that has evolved into a civil war, as was to be expected by some, perhaps even by the neo cons who could have given a shit at all about that.
No way and she will NOT explain that vote, so one is left to conclude that she actually wanted this–at this point in time, virtually NO ONE believes that anyone who voted to give a dumbass megalomaniac the go ahead to do what he would, invade and occupy on lies, knew it was a lie.
Maybe Hillary wants be another “War President” just like Bush? Look what war did for Bush and his supporters: they are rich beyond their wildest dreams, the whole world hates them (except that 23% Dean spoke of), they have made war a useful political tool, and they can “dress up” and play soldier from time to time (when it’s safe enough to sneak in and out of Iraq). How is YOUR Halliburton stock doing?
That’s not what DailyKos and Atrios are saying… They are claiming that “we” was the Republicans, which is completely false for anyone that can read. I’m going to do a post on this, this is so lame that I can’t help make fun of the illiterate high-profile liberal bloggers. Jesus.
Let’s direct all of our attention on the words of the high and mighty Hillary and pretend our neocon leaders aren’t swirling the drain. There should be a roundtable discussion with Bush, Hillary, and Novak where they can spend an hour explaining what they “really” meant. Tony Snow can moderate.
I am not even going to read the article… one thing is for sure … Republicans cant stand her … my mother actually said the other day she was immoral because she was the victim when being cheated on???? The weird things those church peoples preachers come up with …. but that is besides the point … republicans hate her… and she isnt exactly respected for supporting a war that was not based on 911 … so she has NO chance of becoming president … unless the republicans put Pat Robertson up for their next candidate or something…
recall that in their pursuit for the “truth†the GOP was willing to spend $70 million to find out about that blue stain on Monica Lewinski’s dress.
Not only was the GOP willing to spend all this money on the blue dress stain, they actully encouraged Starr to print his pornographic papers over the Internet. Where was the American Taliban’s outrage over this pornography?
The GOP is obsessed with the Clintons. They don’t even realize how much power they give to the Clintons because of this obsession.
Off topic but may be of interest… as an elected precinct committee member, I was given a street list of registered Democrats for phone banking purposes. This list had a breakdown of each voters party affiliation for the past 5 years. To my surprise, there were several Republicans that switched to the Democratic party between 2004 and 2006. PA is turning bluer.
#13 – so you are more concerned about the color of the stain then Starr’s pornography or the wasting of tax payers money on investing an affair. Get a brain and some morals while you’re at it. Oh, and don’t forget to volunteer for Iraq. Heard there’s a war going on over there and your leader said that the sacrifice is worth it.
Sadly, the troops are coming home–in ones and twos in coffins draped with flags. But, hey–let’s have another congressional vote to see if we still “support the troops.”
My bad, I see that you were actually quoting Pampero Firpo.
Bill Clinton was IMPEACHED for suborning perjury (asking witnesses to lie in their depositions or on witness stand) in the Paula Jones trial. He was IMPEACHED, yes, IMPEACHED, for high crimes and misdemeanors – suborning perjury.

Yes It can. I don’t have any ideas, but, maybe if we re-elect them maybe they will change?, maybe they will ‘get it’ and stop, maybe we can buy them off with some lobbyist’s cash?
Maybe if we just gave them limos and prostitutes as part of their job duties, make them aides or something?
It’s like reverse psychology, we make them so corrupt that they will become non-corrupt!
See, look, you dumm Americans, don’t you know anything about ‘realpolitik’?
Aw how cute, posting as me. Childish tactic #124123 employed by Think Progress commenters.
I can see how what Atrios is saying make sense, but in that case, Hillary is being pretty careless with how she speaks. She referred to the Democrats with “we” throughout the whole thing, but then refers to “we” as the entire Congress later?
WASHINGTON (AP) — Republicans are in jeopardy of losing their grip on Congress in November.
With less than four months to the midterm elections, the latest Associated Press-Ipsos poll found that Americans by an almost 3-to-1 margin hold the GOP-controlled Congress in low regard and profess a desire to see Democrats wrest control after a dozen years of Republican rule.
People are tired of the republican cancer seixon.

#14 – Congress impeached Clinton for lying in under oath while being questioned about his affair with Monica Lewinsky. The Paula Jones lawsuit had nothing to do with Clinton’s impeachment. The interesting piece of Clinton’s impeachment is that those that protested the loudest in Congress were also guilty of infidelity. Shakespear was a master of explaining human behaviour.
I’m neutral when it comes to Hilary. I admire her courage for sticking to her guns in the male dominated politcal world. Hilary for president? I think not. She is a neocon’s dream. If Hilary was the Democratic nominee for president, we would all have to live through Bill Clinton’s affairs and Whitewater in the media ALL OVER AGAIN. Just like Bush&Co keep reliving 9/11 and keep reminding us that 9/11 happened on their watch. Oops… I mean… Bush&Co keep reminding us that they can protect us from further harm, unless it’s something like a hurricane, then all bets are off.
The Federal Elections Institute down here finally got around to doing something, but are not saying what the result was.
They called for all the ballots from 500 precincts, out of over 300,000 and supposedly examined then carefully.
All they report is that they found 397 errors in FAVOR of Obrador, and 103 errors in favor of Calderon. They are not saying what the errors were.
I also got information from a TV reporter that on the Friday before the election some Americans, armed with and using American money went to every bank in Mexico City and were buying up 20 and 50 peso notes, 2 and 5 dollars respectively. These were passed out to voters in Mexico City promising to vote for Calderon.
The TV reporters are not referring to Calderon as President elect, merely as candidate. They think something is in the air.
People are tired of the republican cancer seixon.
do you ‘get it’?
People are tired of both parties. Latest favorability ratings for GOP and Democrats in Congress:
Republicans: 31%
Democrats: 34%
That’s from the LA Times. Here’s from the Harris poll on how many think each one is doing good/excellent:
Republicans: 25%
Democrats: 25%

People are tired of both parties, but the GOP is in charge. I think it’s a time for a change because it is pretty clear that things can get worse under GOP leadership.
All She’s saying is STOP having the other side (or Rove) pick the goddamned issues. The issues are the war, economy, health care. The other is smoke up your ass…..Non issues..yesterday today, tommorrow
Hey, you guys would fit in perfectly there. Your own echo chamber, just like you’ve always wanted! Yeay! Now you can go be ignorant, brainwashed, and do some groupthink without ever hearing any dissenting opinion ever again! It’s like Nazi Germany or Stalin’s Russia! Oh joy!
Are you in Mexico?
Where did you get your info? I’d love a link.
It’s a shame Americans didn’t protest the way the Mexicans did. We’d have had it right in 2000 AND 2004.
Thanks for the update.
Seixon,
Go haunt some other site, would ‘ya please?
You are nothing but a big ‘ol boil on our backsides’….
Ya know, kinda like the one Rush used to get out of serving…..
I for one wish Hillarity would not use the term we, she does not speak for me, nor is she the designated spokesperson for US Dems………….
I also wish she would just plain shut up, give it up, and assist US in finding a true leader to speak for truth, justice, and the return of democracy in the United States of America.
And Condi Rice sure knows how to work that vocabulary, eh? How about gruesome? There’s a good word to describe yer Iraq sitcheeashun honey……..
I am already very tired of Hillary. She, and people like her (Lieberman et al), have enabled Bush’s war. God help us all if she is the democratic nominee.
#41, You are so correct! For pete’s sake, read the whole article before you jump to judgement, people. I am not a Hilary supporter, but if you want to criticize her, do so for valid reasons, not because you can’t read.
“You have to ask yourself, we have all these problems, “we” = the country
and we have solutions sitting out there, why can’t we move in the right direction? And it really comes down to a difference in values and philosophy. “we” = senate/congress
You know the nine women Democratic Senators, anybody see us on Larry King’s show? We put out what we call our Checklist for Change… And so we were talking one day and saying, you know, we as individuals, we have all of this legislation, we can’t get it on the floor of the Senate. We can’t get a vote on it because the Republican majority wants to vote on other things. So we pulled all our best ideas together…we have legislation sitting in the Senate to address these problems. “we = “the nine women Democratic Senators”
But with the Republican majority, that’s not their priority. So we do other things, we do things that are controversial, we do things that try to inflame their base so that they can turn people out and vote for their candidates. I think we are wasting time, we are wasting lives, we need to get back to making America work again, in a bipartisan, nonpartisan way.” “we” = senate/congress
Lol since Seixon the Norwegian GOP hack defends Sen. Hillary Clinton, he has confirmed that she has sold out to the GOP like old Joe Lieberman! Former President Bill Clinton hangs out with the Bush clan, and Hillary hangs out with Rupert Murdoch of FOX News, so they have sold out the Democrat party for 30 pieces of silver! I would NOT vote for Hillary even if she was the last so-called Democrat on this planet > she is a Republican mole now!
Glad you brought up Joe Lieberman. When he wins his primary on Aug. 4, hawkish Democrats in their party will finally feel secure enough to CRITICIZE the doves. Once again, liberal bloggers have proven themselves a vaccine, and not a virus.

Excellent break-down of Clinton’s comments. While Clinton could have been clearer by using less pronouns, it’s not really hard to follow what she said. That is, if you want to be fair.
Lynette Holloway was the last New York Times reporter to get a story 180-degrees wrong because of unprofessionalism and bias.
Really, there should be the same correction as below, and the same consequence…Holloway was fired for putting false things into the Times due to unprofessionalism.
Correction; Music Executive Is Still in Control Of TVT Records
By DIANA B. HENRIQUES (NYT) 2217 words
Published: July 14, 2003
A loan dispute between Prudential Securities and TVT Records, one of the nation’s largest independent record companies, has had no impact on the control or management of TVT Records by its founder and president, Steven Gottlieb.
In a profile of Mr. Gottlieb last Monday, The New York Times reported incorrectly that Mr. Gottlieb had defaulted on a $23.5 million loan and that as a result, in February he had lost control of his company, officially called TeeVee Toons Inc., to Prudential.
In fact Mr. Gottlieb was never personally responsible for the defaulted loan and remains in full control of his company. Even if Prudential were to prevail in the dispute, which is still pending in court, its remedies would be limited to seizing certain music royalty rights that TeeVee Toons transferred in 1999 to an affiliated company called TVT Catalog Enterprises. Prudential has no claim to TVT Records itself and therefore would not be in a position to sell the company, as the article reported.
The article also cast a negative light on Mr. Gottlieb’s history of involvement in lawsuits, describing him as litigious — a conclusion that is not a fair reading of the legal cases.
It also referred inaccurately to his relationships with certain prominent performing artists, and several important aspects of his recent courtroom victory in which a jury awarded him $132 million in a contract dispute with the Island Def Jam Music Group and its chairman and chief executive, Lyor Cohen. Island Def Jam is a unit of the giant Universal Music Group, which is owned by the French company Vivendi Universal.
Beyond the inaccuracies arising from the article’s mistaken premises, there were also several other factual errors, which are corrected today in an editors’ note on Page A2.
Post 49 > since you love Joe Lieberman, then please take him into your Republican party > we do not want that Quisling in our Democrat party! Tell Bush to give him a cabinet post!
Yes, I live in Mexico, and have for 7 years. My links on the Mexicon election consists only of my talks with TV reporters, etc.
Raw story is confirming this morning what I posted yesterday about vote buying. They are also reporting that on Sunday over 1 million hit the streets in Mexico City in an effort to demand a recount of the vote.
Azteca reported last week that the Federal Elections Institute had gotten all ballots from 500 precincts out of over 300,000 and examined them carefully, supposedly. They found 397 errors in favor of Obrador and 103 errors in favor of Calderon, but are not saying what the errors were, or what they are going to do about it.
The reason we dont have millions hitting the streets in the USofA is that everyone is too busy posting to the blogs on their computers.
A liberals only website was inevitable, since they can’t hold ground against conservatives, moderates and liberatarians.
Hollywood, last year, thought that they could create and award movies they loved with themes they espouse, and found that the box office results of most all those movies / actors that / who received academy awards were meager at best.
In 2005, the top movies were the ones that clearly delineated between good and evil, with Narnia having a resurrection story similar to the Christ story.
In short, liberals cannot live in a bubble, and must learn how to assimilate back into the real world.
55 Jason M. Hendler
You bring up Hollywood and a movie, then tell liberals to live in the real world. Oh yeah, I forgot – the only Hollywood “actor” who became president was not a liberal. LOL BTW, I thought Narnia was terrible and I wonder why the fundamentalist Christians haven’t blasted it for its magic, like they did Harry Potter. Rhetorical question – CS Lewis is a “Christian” author (and untalented IMO).
I listened to the audio clip that media matters has up of Senator Clinton speaking to the group of democrtiatic women in Arkansas . Atrios has it right. The NYTimes screwed up.
The new LiberalsOnly.com site is nothing more than a sneaky undercutting of John Byrne’s discussion forum Blue Lemur. LiberalsOnly.com would not have the members it does without syphoning off from the membership of Blue Lemur. Isn’t it a dirty thing for John Byrne’s webmaster to steal away his following in such a manner? Where is the loyalty these days? Free speech is the future of forum discussions. If you want a free speech discussion forum go to The NJC/NJO Forum That’s the concept that will promote the most stimulation. Anything else is just another circle jerk.

July 16th, 2006 at 10:14 pmRebel,
Hey, you guys would fit in perfectly there. Your own echo chamber, just like you’ve always wanted! Yeay! Now you can go be ignorant, brainwashed, and do some groupthink without ever hearing any dissenting opinion ever again! It’s like Nazi Germany or Stalin’s Russia! Oh joy!
LOL
July 16th, 2006 at 10:30 pmHey Rebel,
Are you in Mexico?
July 16th, 2006 at 10:31 pmWhere did you get your info? I’d love a link.
It’s a shame Americans didn’t protest the way the Mexicans did. We’d have had it right in 2000 AND 2004.
Thanks for the update.
Seixon,
July 16th, 2006 at 10:36 pmGo haunt some other site, would ‘ya please?
You are nothing but a big ‘ol boil on our backsides’….
Ya know, kinda like the one Rush used to get out of serving…..
Seixon, why don’t you stop attacking TP. You stop by here and whine daily. You don’t offer new initiatives or ideas.
You are just a whiny ass winger.

July 16th, 2006 at 10:40 pmI for one wish Hillarity would not use the term we, she does not speak for me, nor is she the designated spokesperson for US Dems………….
July 16th, 2006 at 11:00 pmI also wish she would just plain shut up, give it up, and assist US in finding a true leader to speak for truth, justice, and the return of democracy in the United States of America.
And Condi Rice sure knows how to work that vocabulary, eh? How about gruesome? There’s a good word to describe yer Iraq sitcheeashun honey……..
“We” is Congress. Reading the entire article makes that pretty clear.
July 16th, 2006 at 11:35 pmI am already very tired of Hillary. She, and people like her (Lieberman et al), have enabled Bush’s war. God help us all if she is the democratic nominee.
July 16th, 2006 at 11:47 pm#41, You are so correct! For pete’s sake, read the whole article before you jump to judgement, people. I am not a Hilary supporter, but if you want to criticize her, do so for valid reasons, not because you can’t read.
July 16th, 2006 at 11:59 pmthe quote from Atrios:
“You have to ask yourself, we have all these problems,
“we” = the country
and we have solutions sitting out there, why can’t we move in the right direction?
I think we are wasting time, we are wasting lives, we need to get back to making America work again, in a bipartisan, nonpartisan way.”
“we” = senate/congress
see? so simple… and so right…
July 17th, 2006 at 12:38 amLol since Seixon the Norwegian GOP hack defends Sen.
July 17th, 2006 at 12:58 amNo more clintons, no more bushes.
Period.
No more gores, no more kerrys, no more lie-bermans.
Dot, dot, dot.
July 17th, 2006 at 1:08 am#44 katy,
Excellent analysis, You are absolutely correct. Atrios was right. The conservative visitors who have been claiming otherwise are wrong.
July 17th, 2006 at 7:55 amIf Hillary runs for President the Republican will tear her apart.
I think our Senator Russ Feingold from Wisconsin would make a great president.
GO RUSS GO!!!!!
July 17th, 2006 at 8:13 am#45, Jay Randal,
Glad you brought up Joe Lieberman. When he wins his primary on Aug. 4, hawkish Democrats in their party will finally feel secure enough to CRITICIZE the doves. Once again, liberal bloggers have proven themselves a vaccine, and not a virus.

July 17th, 2006 at 8:40 amExcellent break-down of Clinton’s comments. While Clinton could have been clearer by using less pronouns, it’s not really hard to follow what she said. That is, if you want to be fair.
#44 Katy-Spot on, excellent! and so simple only a wingnut could be confused.
July 17th, 2006 at 8:44 amLynette Holloway was the last New York Times reporter to get a story 180-degrees wrong because of unprofessionalism and bias.
July 17th, 2006 at 9:25 amPost 49 > since you love Joe Lieberman, then please take him into your Republican party > we do not want that Quisling in our Democrat party! Tell Bush to give him a cabinet post!
July 17th, 2006 at 10:28 amTRUEBLUE
July 17th, 2006 at 10:46 amA liberals only website was inevitable, since they can’t hold ground against conservatives, moderates and liberatarians.
July 17th, 2006 at 10:53 amJason > get real you Bush loving fascists are way over the top, so get some therapy or go extinct like the DoDo bird please!
July 17th, 2006 at 11:44 am55 Jason M. Hendler
July 17th, 2006 at 2:11 pmYou bring up Hollywood and a movie, then tell liberals to live in the real world.
July 17th, 2006 at 3:44 pmThe new LiberalsOnly.com site is nothing more than a sneaky undercutting of John Byrne’s discussion forum Blue Lemur.
