walked out of a John Mellencamp concert over the weekend because the singer dedicated his song “Walk Tall” to “everyone hurt by policies of the current Bush administration.” The song’s lyrics include: “Bigotry and hatred are enemies to us all/ Grace, mercy and forgiveness/ Will help a man walk tall.”
Quayle should have gone hunting with Cheney.
July 17th, 2006 at 10:12 amI see Danny boy is trying to parlay his success as a Vice President into a spot on Rolling Stone’s cnocert review beat. I guess that’s a step up….
July 17th, 2006 at 10:14 amI think everyone is missing the comment that really upset Quayle. It was when Mellencamp introduced the song “Walk Tall”. That’s when he got his short little “potatoe” head out of there.
July 17th, 2006 at 10:18 amPotato/potatoe? Whatever.
July 17th, 2006 at 10:18 amDarn it, dlet. You beat me to it!
July 17th, 2006 at 10:19 amQuayle said through a publicist: “Well, I think Mellencamp’s performance was not very good to begin with, and the comment put it over the top.’’
Does Mr. Quail (spelling doesn’t matter, does it?) think Mellencamp’s comments were over the top because Mr. Quail is at the moral bottom?
July 17th, 2006 at 10:19 amDan who?
July 17th, 2006 at 10:21 amWhat a shock. A thinned skinned right winger, blue blooded cxonservative dinkcheese.
Enjoy a lifetime of Lee Greenwood concerts there, Potato(e) Boy.

July 17th, 2006 at 10:22 amSo what? We all know people like Qualyle can’t have their little ideological bubbles challenged.
July 17th, 2006 at 10:23 amWhen Quayle boy goes to hell, the music in his cell will be Toby Keith, 24/7. Forever.
July 17th, 2006 at 10:33 amTall was the key word it was what Qualyle isn’t. Let’s face it a man is a man but Qualyle is weak and his his wife stand up for him. Now if the song were called walk scared and small ha that’s when Qualyle would have said that’s me.
July 17th, 2006 at 10:33 amnice to see such “tolerance” from all you self proclaimed progressives. I guess hate is ok when YOU preach it. it’s the hypocrisy stupid!
July 17th, 2006 at 10:37 amI wonder if Danny Boy knows the correct spelling of concert?? Maybe he puts an extra “e’ on it at the end?
July 17th, 2006 at 10:38 amRemember when Dan Quayle made the Murphy Brown comment 15 years ago? One of the characters on the show responded by saying, “C’mon, who cares, it’s Dan Quayle.” Seems to fit today just as well.
July 17th, 2006 at 10:39 amp.s. spokesperson for Dan Quayle? Could there be a sadder job?
July 17th, 2006 at 10:39 amOne wonders who at the concert recognized this ghost from the past?
July 17th, 2006 at 10:44 am#14
July 17th, 2006 at 10:47 amWhite House Press Secretary for the Bush Administration.
Quayle is a certified idiot , so who cares what that fool does or thinks > lol.
July 17th, 2006 at 10:49 amWho’s Dan Qualye?
July 17th, 2006 at 10:51 amDo you get the feeling the RNC are putting these former repugnuts out there like Newt and Danny boy as a subliminal message to us that maybe the current repugnuts in congress aren’t as bad as the former ones?
Just because I am paranoid does not mean they are not out to get me!!!
July 17th, 2006 at 10:53 amA little story here: Back in 2000, my wife and I went to a Sammy Hagar/Ted Nugent New Years Eve “Whiplash Bash” at Auburn Hills. During Deadly Ted’s set, he shot a bow and arrow at a “really bad Janet Reno cut up”. Once the arrow hit, her dress fell, revealing a rather large male appendage. Ted yells, “I knew it, I f****ing knew it! I can’t wait until this administration is gone!”
How does this compare to Dan’s conert , you might ask. Well, I’ll tell ya. My wife and I, democrats, knew going into the show that Ted is very, very conservative. Dan should also have known that Mellancamp is a Democrat, and has spoken out numerous times against this administration. Secondly, after Ted’s somewhat funny anti-Clinton statement, my wife and I just looked at each other, and smirked. Who cares, we thought, it’s a concert, not a politically rally, and we like Ted’s music. Dan should of chalked it up, realized we live in a free country, and enjoyed the show. Of course, he did excercise his freedom by leaving…good for him
Now, how do you spell potato(e)?
July 17th, 2006 at 10:54 amLike disgraced former gov’t officials Joe Scarborough and Newt Gingrich, Quayle is taking his place in the “Just Shut Up and Go Away” crowd.
July 17th, 2006 at 10:55 am“Potatoe” Head “Walks Small”
July 17th, 2006 at 10:58 amQuayle was actually kicked out of the mosh potatoe pit for extreme head-banging.
July 17th, 2006 at 10:59 amI didn’t realize this Repugnant loser of a turd was still on the planet. I thought he was out in space in some other galaxy. It certainly is where he belongs. Three cheers to John Mellencamp for driving this low life out of the room. He can’t spell and wouldn’t know the truth if he fell over it.
July 17th, 2006 at 11:36 amIronically, I just watched some of a ‘Celebrity Golf’ tourney on TV.
July 17th, 2006 at 11:37 amQuayle was in it.
The only other golfer as bad was Charles Barkley.
So…he can’t golf, he can’t govern, he can’t listen to the truth,
what can Dan do?
Spend our tax dollars on a publicist.
Dan, go listen to some Toby Keith & Reba. That shit’s so bad
you might even relate to it.
Go DIXIE CHICKS!
Hey Dan … from a fellow Hoosier .. I would just like to say BOO HOO… to paraphrase a dip shit from the righwing blogosphere.
July 17th, 2006 at 11:39 amPoor Republicans, they can’t go to any rock concerts anymore without being offended. What’s that, conservatives? Today’s rock stars are not “politically correct?”
July 17th, 2006 at 11:42 amThat’s all you pin heads have got:
1. Dan Quayle can’t spell potato?
2. He criticized the Murphy Brown character.
That’s it? That’s all that wrong with Dan Quayle? If that’s all you’ve got maybe Dan should think about the 2008 nomination. We’ll have John Kerry running against the Swift Boat veterans and Dan Quayle running against the spelling bee fans. Yeah, that’s right – Democrats are going with John Kerry for 2008.
July 17th, 2006 at 11:42 amExcuse me but when did Dan “I Hate Murphy Brown” Quayle, of all people, get relevant again?
July 17th, 2006 at 11:46 am#28 If Dan Quale is such a genius please please run him for President in 08!
July 17th, 2006 at 11:49 amWhy do Liberal love the “hate” word. They don’t use it, they abuse it.
Let me try to help you. Dan didn’t “hate” Murphy Brown. He thought the character was a bad role model.
Muslims – particularly the wild terrorist bunch – HATE you. They hate ALL Americans. They want to kill you. They want to kill your wives and children.
To review:
Dan – dissaproval of Murphy Brown
Muslims – hate you
Question: Why do Democrats dislike Dan Quayle more than Muslims?
July 17th, 2006 at 11:52 amMuslims – particularly the wild terrorist bunch – HATE you. They hate ALL Americans. They want to kill you. They want to kill your wives and children.
Ummmmmmm, hows that kool-aid tasting today? Muslims are a peaceful religion, just like Christianity. There are those of the extreme in both religions (does McVeigh ring a bell?) No, Muslims don’t want to kill our children and wives. They strive to live in a peaceful society, where tolerence of all religions is accepted. Geez, the fear mongering never stops with the right.
Bu the way, talk to a Muslim who is well versed in the Quran, you may actually learn something and think before spouting off, Muslims hate all americans, they’re going to kill you!
July 17th, 2006 at 11:59 amBOO

July 17th, 2006 at 12:00 pmWe don’t “hate” Dan Quayle. We think he’s a bad role model for an American politician. Muslims (as a whole group) don’t hate us. Where in the world did you get the idea that Democrats dislike Dan Quayle more than Muslims? That kind of link is about as ridiculous as trying to link Iraq with 9-11.
who is dan quayle?

July 17th, 2006 at 12:08 pm”There is a good life
July 17th, 2006 at 12:09 pmRight across this green field
And each generation
Stares at it from afar
But we keep no check
On our appetites
So the green fields turn to brown
Like paper in fire.
Didn’t this idiot ever listen to “Scarecrow?”
When a Nation cries
July 17th, 2006 at 12:24 pmHis tears fall down like missiles from the skies
Justice look into Independence’s eyes
Can you make everyrhing alright
Can you keep your Nation warm tonight
You guys make me laugh. The first 20 to 30 posts on this board bash Dan Quayle. When I point out that liberals like Muslims more than Dan, the bashing stops and you guys start saying stuff like:
“Muslims are a peaceful religion, just like Christianity.”
You then use Timothy McVeigh as an example of an extremist Christianity.
Now who’s really drinking Kool Aid?
Here is the similiarity between Christianity and Islam: Both religions believe themselves to be the ONE TRUE religion. Real followers of each think all other religions are wrong and that if you don’t follow their religion you will go to hell.
Here is the difference:
The Bible says Christians would be persecuted and killed for their faith.
Muslims are told to persecute and kill those who do not embrace their faith.
That Bible says that the Kingdom of God is not of this world.
Muslims are told that all people must be made subservient to Muslim run governments or be killed.
Americans would like to see all countries operated as Democracies with freedom of religion. Muslims would like to see all countries operated under Muslim law and ruled by Mullahs – and they’re prepared to go to war to get that. If they win – you will be bowing and praying 5 times each day to Meccah.
My question is, when confronted by a Muslim with an AK-47 – are you going to do the right thing or ask the guy if he can spell AK47.
Based upon postings so far, I take it that you think Dan Quayle represents a bigger threat to America than Muslims. Have I got it right?
July 17th, 2006 at 12:26 pm#37, Barney Fife
July 17th, 2006 at 12:37 pmYou’re the one trying to go off topic.
Dan Quayle walked out on a song that’s about
true freedom.You know, the America
we grew up in. What the Hell is he doing there if he can’t
stand the message? Mellancamp has had his political views
out there for many years. Is Quayle too damn dumb to get it?
The real message here is that religion has caused more
wars in history than any other cause. That’s what scares
us True Americans; having a nut job in the White House
who is more concerned about ‘End Time’s than diplomacy.
Why was Condi sitting in Russia when the Middle East was
in crisis?
Why was Bush giving Blair a simplistic means to end it?
I mean, c’mon, if this wasn’t so serious, we’d all ROTFLAO.
Zimzone noticed!!!
In the middle of a Middle East crisis, started by a bunch of Muslim nuts, you guys are bashing away on Dan Quayle because he walked out of a John Cougar concert. Big friggin deal. I’ve noticed that old John’s voice hasn’t been improving (something to do with a past love of tobacco; does he still chain smoke?) and so when John decided to take a shot at the Bush admin – Quayle leaves. Why is that news? Somebody asked Dan why he left – the answer seemed reasonable to me – so why is that news?
And all of that is news while Muslim wacko terrorists are attacking and kidnapping Israeli soldies. The Muslims wackos happen to be under the direction and control of Syria which happens to be under the direction and control of Iran. So in the middle of that sh#t, you guys want to wail away on Dan’s spelling.
So I note that you liberal nuts like Muslims better than Dan and the air goes out of your tires.
And now to the heart of the real problem. You idiots think all religions are the same – Christianity and Islam are co-equal. One idiot says they are both peaceful religions – the other idiot says all wars are started by religions. You guys gotta get together and get your Bush bashin coordinated. And while your doing that, the adults will try to make sure the world is not taken over by a bunch of Islamic imperialists.
July 17th, 2006 at 12:57 pm” Scarecrow on a wooden cross
Blackbird in the barn

That used to be my farm
I grew up like my daddy did
My grandpa cleared this land
When I was five I walked the fence
While grandpa held my hand.

July 17th, 2006 at 1:05 pmBlood on the plow
This land fed a nation
This land made me proud.”
………
This land fed a nation
This land now feeds many nations.
July 17th, 2006 at 1:11 pm“Grace, mercy and forgiveness/ Will help a man walk tall.”
Wow, I had no idea that Dan Quayle wasn’t a Christian. Weird.
July 17th, 2006 at 1:58 pm.
# 41.
”And Son I’m just sorry they’re just memories for you now.”
July 17th, 2006 at 2:32 pmHow did Dan find the exit? Did he know how to spell “exit?”
What did he expect? Has he seen what this Administration has done to this country and the world?
Hey Dan, if you want to live in a world where the Bush clan is the good guy, there are so few places to go. I’m sure GHWB would invite you to dinner. I’m sure Barb would fire anyone who said anything bad about her little George.
July 17th, 2006 at 2:54 pmDan Quayle!? This coming from the guy who cant spell potatoe. Im suprised he even understud that the singer was ripping on Bush.
Nothing more to be said, Dan Quayle is a village idoit!!!
July 17th, 2006 at 2:55 pmI grew up like my daddy did my grandpa cleared this land
Did these guys check in with the Sierra Club before cutting down those trees?
And grandmas on the front porch swing with a Bible in her hand
Sometimes I hear her singing take me to the promised land
You need to pay attention to John’s grandma.
July 17th, 2006 at 3:04 pmI’ll bet Dan can spell idiot – or is idoit a new word?
Back to the beginning. Apart from the fact that Dan couldn’t spell potato, and apart from the fact that Dan didn’t care for the example of Murphy Brown, what’s your real beef with Dan Quayle? Or do you just dislike all conservatives?
July 17th, 2006 at 3:07 pmWe dislike most conservatives….the ones kind of like you.
July 17th, 2006 at 4:55 pmWhy is that news? Somebody asked Dan why he left – the answer seemed reasonable to me – so why is that news?
Comment by Robert Barney — July 17, 2006 @ 12:57 pm
And again, why is it that you are here contributing to this meaningless thread?
July 17th, 2006 at 5:35 pmThat’s all that wrong with Dan Quayle?
Comment by Robert Barney — July 17, 2006 @ 11:42 am
Sadly, no. The problem with Dan Quayle is that, intellectually speaking, he comes up a bit short. Oh, and he’s an easy target. Here’s more evidence:
There is more, but I think you get the picture. Then again, probably not.
Remember…this man at any time between January 1989 and January 1993 could have been the leader of the United States of America.
July 17th, 2006 at 5:52 pmThose words…
…must’ve been (to Quayle) like a cross s to a vampire!
July 17th, 2006 at 6:11 pmPoor conservatives, even your favorite heartland rockers don’t like you anymore. Oh well, you’ll always have Toby Kieth and Britney Spears. Enjoy.
July 17th, 2006 at 7:09 pmQ: Why did the Quayle cross the road?… A: To get to the national quard.
July 17th, 2006 at 7:56 pm#28; In 1984; the Reagan administration tried to ban the Beach Boys from performing in D.C. for the 4th of July festiivities because they were “UnAmerican”.
July 17th, 2006 at 8:00 pmOK. So you’re saying Dan’s problem is that sometimes he misspeaks. Is that the problem? He should say what he means differrently; in a more correct way? Is that really the problem? No it isn’t and you know it isn’t. Why don’t you cut to the chase instead of BSing around.
The problem is that if Dan said what he meant to say as eloquently as William Jefferson Clinton, you still wouldn’t like him because it’s not the way he says it that bugs you but what he means that is driving you nuts. It’s just easier for you bozos to deflect attention from the issues by making fun of someone who doesn’t speak as well as Ronald Reagan – and yeah, you guys didn’t like him either.
I’d love to go down the list of Democrat politicians that can’t string an intelligent sentence together but that would be descending to your level and what’s the point?
The truth is you have no real response to a well reasoned conservative argument so you need to pick on something else. For example, I’ve enjoyed watching the liberal media make a big deal out of the President using the word “sh%t”. Big friggin deal. I like the fact he used the word. No doubt during his life he has learned what it is. I’ll bet he’s shoveled it, forked it, no doubt has taken enough of it from the wacko liberals in this country. But rather than deal with what he said to Blair, which was 100 percent on the money, we get to watch the media go off on a tangent because they dislike Bush. And that’s what’s going on here with Dan Quayle.
The truth is I remember you guys from the school yard. You couldn’t string together a consistent series of thoughts then, and you can’t do it now. You muscled your way around by picking on people you didn’t like.
July 17th, 2006 at 10:44 pmDan Quayle wouldn’t have protected Indianapolis from the Viet Cong, if his family didn’t have pull.
Sounds like someone else we’ve heard a lot about, who got to avoid serving in a war he supported.
At least, as far as I have heard, Quayle did his whole hitch in the National Guard. I don’t imagine that he’s encouraging his son to join, though. It’s a differenct world since 9/11, dontcha know!
Ah, pedigree! Sweet deal!
July 17th, 2006 at 11:14 pmDan Quayle isn’t worth the effort, he’s a idiot and part of the fascist cabel.
July 17th, 2006 at 11:52 pmDoes anyone know that The Chimperor could be Quayle’s equally stupid twin brother. What’s happening right now would be the same if Quayle was President.
July 18th, 2006 at 12:13 amCome on – who really cares about ole’ potatoe head.
July 18th, 2006 at 12:53 amI’d love to go down the list of Democrat politicians that can’t string an intelligent sentence together but that would be descending to your level and what’s the point?
Comment by Robert Barney — July 17, 2006 @ 10:44 pm
Bring it on, big boy! Let’s keep it high profile and relatively recent by starting with Clinton, then Carter, and move on down the line back to Truman. Heck, you can even give us quotes from their VP’s instead if you wish. The first 25 misstatements from each will do. And then we’ll compare them to Quayle’s and see if they simply selected the wrong word(s) or if it is simply a sign of ignorance.
To characterize Quayle’s butchering of the English language by saying he “misspeaks” is laughable.
The way he speaks and the things he says IS a reflection of his intelligence no matter what you say. Anybody who thinks the capital of American Samoa is Pogo Pogo (actually named Pago Pago) and that Hawaii is a country really needs help.
July 18th, 2006 at 10:57 amwhy are you people responding to that barney goon?
He lumps everyone who posts on here, or ‘liberals’ as idiots, and name calls.
There is nothing you can do or say to justify your opinions to this troll,
July 19th, 2006 at 1:46 amso ignore ignore ignore. Jesus standing in front of him telling him war is bad, wouldn’t get through to him.
Let’s get back to the potatoe jokes. Potatoe, Potatoe, Potatoe.
July 22nd, 2006 at 4:35 pmP.S. McVeigh is universally considered a nut, the people that crashed into the buildings were cheered by large groups of “peace loving people”.
Maybe Boy Blunder wants to run for President in 2008 and is trying to draw attention to himself.
Heres is a little reminder for him:
“Senator, you are no Jack Kennedy”- Senator Lloyd Bentsen
