McCain panders to neocons.

John McCain graces the cover of Playboy this month. In an interview with the magazine, McCain “admits to being a neocon. ‘In some way I am one, in some ways — in that the U.S. is the greatest force for good in the world.’”

Playboy magazine? I thought nobody buys it for the articles? And what will the religious right think?

  2. Punchy says:

McCain on Playboy? How in HELL can this help him with the Fanatical Right?

  3. jules says:

And what will the religious right think?

Hell – they are the ones who hide it under the mattress!

  4. Jack says:

    from the article:

McCain has the peculiar habit of expressing affection with invectives, starting with jerk, rising on up through crazy bastard’ and culminating with a word we can’t print. ‘If he’s not calling you terrible names, he doesn’t like you,’ South Carolina Sen. Lindsey Graham is quoted as saying.

  5. Waldo Jaquith says:

Uh. John McCain is on the cover of Playboy?

I’m thinking that’s not accurate. Not “thinking” — let’s go with “hoping.”

  6. Jay Randal says:

McCain can go strip nude for Playgirl magazine and gross out everybody > lol.

  7. jason baddo says:

Does this mean Hilliary will be on the cover of Playgirl soon?

  8. DenverDem says:

#3 – No the pervs on the right codemn good pr0n and instead are ususally the child molestors, internet predators, necrophelia, and so on. All those repressed sexual thoughts come out eventually.

  9. Darryl Mason says:

He obviously really believes that men buy the magazine to read the articles.

NeoCons cant help outing thesmelves, even when they’ve helped to bring the world to the edge of Hell.

Advice to Playboy devotees : read the article, sure, but rip out that photo quick smart. You don’t want to accidentally flip to that head when you’re…you know, busy.

  10. Jay Randal says:

Well if you are a McCain lover you are supposed to rush out to buy a Playboy magazine, but then claim just to read his article and not glancing at the nude pics > lol.

  11. Joe Sixpack says:

McCain “admits to being a neocon. ‘In some way I am one….

Correct me if I’m wrong, but he is also a kneepad king, having now been graced by Jerry Falwell.

  12. n says:

He is a 2 faced piece of shit

  13. Zimzone says:

Playboy has sunk to a new low.
Is Jeff Gannon the centerfold in that issue?
If he is, plenty of Neocons will be buying it,
    especially James Dobson.
Oh, & Jimmy, sorry your childhood wasn’t that
great but why take it out on adults?

  14. COMMENT BY JIM says:

I wonder if McCain got to go to the mansion for brunch? McCain flip flops almost as bad as Kerry.

And “Stay the Course” is working so well?

  16. COMMENT BY JIM says:

It would be worse to “get of the course”, either way things are bad…

  17. jules says:

    Comment by COMMENT BY JIM — July 17, 2006 @ 12:42 pm

Actually…no it would not. Having a plan would be the far better “course” to take. But, we can not count on that with the present administration now can we? The truthful answer would be no.

  18. Charles Jordan says:

It’s not pandering. Bill Kristol backed McCain in 2000. McCain’s foriegn policy was called Rogue State Roll-back. Which was overtrhrowing unelected leaders of other countries to install democratic ones Lots of Democrats who backed him had no clue what the man stood for. he hasn’t changed.maybe you have but he hasn’t.

  19. COMMENT BY JIM says:

No one on the other side of the isle has given a “plan” on what would work better. I’m afraid this is just the start of things to come. Iran and Syria will see to that. North Korea is so feeble, they can’t even feed themselves. I look for Japan to really start a military build up and China to start putting more pressure on good ole Kim.

  20. Loonie says:

No, mister McCain. You are a nation full of fallible human beings, as fallible as any other nation of human beings.

  21. jules says:

#19 – actually they have, you were just not listening. Why don’t you just mozy on over to the DNC website and browse for awhile? The problem is the republicans control the congess and WH….at the moment…and so the dems cannot change the disaster this administration has made of our foreign policy.

  22. Evil Spaniard says:

Hey neocons have too a right to “distract” themselves with Playboy!

  23. COMMENT BY JIM says:

Kerry has a plan, Feingold has a plan, Murtha has a plan, Dean has a plan, Hillary has a plan, Biden has a plan. The Dems are split all over the place. Everyone (especially the ones wanting to run for the White House in 08) has a plan. The only one of those that has a “real plan” is Feingold. I disagree with him, but he hasn’t flip flopped all over the place. Kerry says whatever he thinks is popular at the time. Hillary is just trying to stay middle of the road.

  24. Evil Spaniard says:

#23 And, exactly, what is the Republican plan for Iraq, Afghanistan and the Middle East?

  25. COMMENT BY JIM says:

    #24

Your watching it play out in front of your eyes. Like it or dislike it, it’s “stay the course”. The only way to stop it is for Republicans to lose elections, and I don’t see either chamber of congress changing hands in Novmember.

  26. Evil Spaniard says:

#25 Sorry, but the excuse for the war has changed a good couple times, so the “stay the curse” slogan is only that, a PR slogan.

  27. Rebel With A Cause says:

Everybody has a plan for Iraq except Bushco, and all he has is plans drawn up long ago for Syria & Iran.

  28. COMMENT BY JIM says:

Either way Evil Spaniard, I really believe we are on the verge of a total melt down in the middle east. I the fighting is still going on by this time next week, look out. Maybe cooler heads will prevail. Israel is giving hints on ways to obtain a cease fire. In terms of Iraq and Afganistan, we can’t pull out now. Things would become even more dangerous. That’s why the majority of Dems voted the way they did two weeks ago.

  29. Evil Spaniard says:

#28 Your “strategy” is only a vicious circle that perpetuates war, expanding it. It’s not difficult to see. Your Republican GOP is following step by step what Bin Laden planned. And the “hints” that Israel is giving aren’t very credible, as soon as they are the ones scalating the conflict. Appeasing the israeli warmongers (the Zionist ones) with more prizes only would enrage more the muslim world.

  30. COMMENT BY JIM says:

Have you noticed Spaniard the weapons that Hezbollah are using? Drones? Enhanced rockets? Far cry from the old “suicide bombers” of yesterday. The point is, what would these people do with a dirty nuke, or a real nuke? They would use it in a heart beat. Hezbollah and Hamas and Isamic Jehad and all of them are fighting a religous war. They have taken the Koran and twisted its literature in a sick and dangerous way. They have lost reason. And its getting worse by the day.

  31. Evil Spaniard says:

    #30 About the weapons used:

Israel is one of the top exporters of war technology of the world and has illegal nukes, you know it? Oh, and the best strategy coming from Israel is scalate the capture of two foot soldiers to a full blown war with the neighboring countries? Then what? When some israeli tank gets blowed out the israelis will use the atomic bombs they already have?

Hezbollah and Hamas and Isamic Jehad and all of them are fighting a religous war. They have taken the Koran and twisted its literature in a sick and dangerous way. They have lost reason. And its getting worse by the day.

Hey, I can play too to nihilistic full destruction scenarios:

Zionists and Israelis and Mossad and all of them are fighting a religous war. They have taken the Torah and twisted its literature in a sick and dangerous way. They have lost reason. And its getting worse by the day.

    Hey, makes sense too.

  32. COMMENT BY JIM says:

How do we stop all the craziness Spaniard? If Israel vanished tommorrow, and the United States for that matter, would there be world peace? The answer is….NOPE. So, what happens next? It’s going to be ugly man, It’s going to be real ugly….

  33. Evil Spaniard says:

#32 How do we stop all the craziness Spaniard?

Not hearing only one side of the conflict. Both have pending issues. But fanning the fire in the Middle East isn’t the answer, for sure.

And no, I don’t want Israel vanished. Jewish people has a very legitimate right to live, but they have no right to act like the nazis or zarist oppressors the learned to hate in the past. Zionism defends to become a monster to combat monsters, but that only makes you end being another monster, nothing else.

And, if the USA wants to help, must act like a peacekeeper, not a warmonger, and being neutral, no one-sided.

  34. COMMENT BY JIM says:

Just curious Spaniard, anyone in particular your favoring for President in 08? Anyone really grabbing your attention?

  35. Evil Spaniard says:

#34 Sure. Elect Annan/ElBaradei. Far more credible than Bush/Cheney. And they know a lot of peace keeping and non proliferation.

  36. COMMENT BY JIM says:

Didn’t know they were American citizens.

  37. COMMENT BY JIM says:

I think I need to get a Playboy and look at the pictures, uhm uh, I mean interview with McCain to see how bad he’s flip flopped this time. The things a person must read to stay on top of the issues of the day……

  38. Evil Spaniard says:

#36 The problem of the actual American candidates is that they are encased in American closed mentality of cause and effect, spinning without control in a vicious circle. Maybe a change of nationality would give your country a fresh start, for good. And, btw, I was very aware that they weren’t American Citizens. If law you mention indirectly wasn’t in effect, I’ll bet a good bunch of euros on a Republican ticket of Shwarzenegger/Carey. Far more popularity than Bush/Cheney actually…

  39. Evil Spaniard says:

And Carey would have a far better image in Playboy than Dobson…

  40. COMMENT BY JIM says:

We’ve got 300 million people to choose from, we’ll find someone. I’d take Kate Moss for a first lady though…

  41. Evil Spaniard says:

    #40 Well, 32% of 290 milions isn’t 300 milions… j/k.

Well, be the new Presidential ticket Democrat or Republican (or, oh dreams, from another party), I expect that he is better than Bush/Cheney. Isn’t too much to ask…

  42. Ho Chi Minh says:

#11; If McCain has kneepads from Falwell, you can bet McCain gave Jerry the best BJ he’s ever had.

  43. Ho Chi Minh says:

    # Charles; Rogue state roolback, Hmmm. Sounds like we need reigme change in Amerika.

  44. WaltTheMan says:

My greatest fear is that the next act of terrorism will be a Nuke in Crawford, TX in August, this year. Darth Cheney would assume the office and no one on Earth would be safe.

  45. JABBS says:

For another take on this story, click [a href="http://jabbs.blogspot.com/2006/07/morality-flip-flop-in-may-mccain.html"]here[/a]. McCain just did a morality flip-flop, big-time.

  46. wes says:

I’m pretty sure he’s on the cover of esquire, not playboy…there’s just a small column by mccain in a larger piece about public opinion on the war. in the racier magazine
