The Senate Foreign Relations Committee announced today it will hold fresh hearings on the nomination of U.N. Ambassador John Bolton, who failed to be confirmed by the Senate last year. The hearings are set for next Thursday, and the White House has scheduled Bolton on multiple Sunday morning news shows this weekend.
ah, an oldie but a goodie from the village voice from the first time this ass-clown faced the facts…
to hell with the sunday shows…. read this article and discover exactly why this beast is the perfect bush crime family ‘diplomat’…
watch the democrats bend and scrape and suckle during the hearings… disgusting.
July 21st, 2006 at 9:49 pmVoting conservative these days is essentially committing suicide by Republican.
July 21st, 2006 at 9:51 pmLooks like another colossal waste of time heading our way. For heaven’s sake, TP, don’t post any pictures of Bolton and his mustache….
July 21st, 2006 at 9:54 pmit is surely a lose-lose, z… the ass-clown either gets confirmed, or, he simply gets another recess appointment.
it will give the neoconservative zealots the chance to show how close those that disagree with bolton are to hezbollah, how you either love bolton, or you are with the terrorists… the same nonsense. and the democrats will trip over themselves getting to the microphone… biden and leiberman and the red democrats will all fall in line.
July 21st, 2006 at 10:04 pmBeen gone for awhile. Looking around…has the Norwegian left town?
July 21st, 2006 at 10:08 pmSo, apparently the answer for the outbreak of unmerciful peace would be to unleash the vitriolic mustache. I have a line on Satan and he approves. BTW if the Walrus must face a partisan C-Span episode of queer eye for the attitude guy, keep your own eye on the democrats. They love the spotlight. From soft questions to bowtied platforms, the D’s promise to play the charade to yet another acedemy award winning role, as “opposition party”. Hah!
Bet their hair will be perfectly coifed for the hearings.
July 21st, 2006 at 10:30 pmi don’t think those two will vote for bolton…but, who knows? hillary likes to play war with the big boys, and schumer wouldn’t mind if israel levelled every other country in the area.
any democrat who does not LOUDLY vote ‘no’ on bolton must be eliminated from the party, i agree with that…
July 21st, 2006 at 10:34 pmBeen gone for awhile. Looking around…has the Norwegian left town?

No such luck, Doc, he’s on the global warming thread, below. He was gone for a few days though…I thought maybe he got a job…or a girlfriend…
July 21st, 2006 at 10:42 pmit is surely a lose-lose, z… the ass-clown either gets confirmed, or, he simply gets another recess appointment.
Yup, waste of time on a waste of skin….and that mustache…
July 21st, 2006 at 10:43 pmOh Ford.
What do the bush people think if you sick someone on TV they will automaticlly be accepted by the masses because they made the round of sunday morning shows (that I never watch anymore) answering softball questions with the talking point of the day?
These guys are so predictably lame its tragiccomic.
July 21st, 2006 at 10:45 pmVery strange. Why all of a sudden is Bolton up for nomination when his term doesn’t expire until January? Something very fishy going on here. Methinks the preznit wants to get Bolton confirmed by the majority BEFORE they turn into the minority in November. Makes you wonder what they have up their sleeves if they are so hell-bent on getting this bully (who was never confirmed but appointed over a holiday weekend when no one was around) back in there.
July 21st, 2006 at 10:49 pmLOL, Zooey, I didn’t know you were a comedienne!!! Seixon and girlfriend are not words I would use in the same sentence!!!
July 21st, 2006 at 10:59 pmJPark,
Normally I wouldn’t either, but whatever it takes…We could hire someone…
July 21st, 2006 at 11:01 pmLOL, Zooey. If it would introduce some sense into him I would chip in!!

Im gonna spectorlate that they want Bolton in incase they lose the Senate. The neo-cons want to ‘overhaul’ [bush disaster] the U.N.
Bolton has tried this once and failed, but he will try again.

Critical U.N. Reforms Actively Being Resisted, Bolton Says
Lives depend on management reform, U.S. ambassador tells subcommittee
Washington — Management reform at the United Nations might be a matter of life and death, but a large bloc of counties actively is opposing proposed changes, says U.S. Ambassador John Bolton.
Testifying at a House subcommittee hearing May 2, the United States’ U.N. ambassador said in prepared remarks that the Oil-for-Food scandal is emblematic of what happens in U.N. programs when independent oversight, transparency and accountability are ignored.
Not only can waste and corruption occur, he said, but the critical services and humanitarian supplies meant for vulnerable populations are not delivered. The Oil-for-Food Program in Iraq was established to provide food and medicine for the Iraqi people by allowing Iraq to sell oil during U.N. sanctions. Instead, the program resulted in more than 2,000 companies paying kickbacks to Saddam Hussein’s regime, which then diverted the $1.8 billion it received to its own coffers. (See related article.) “[W]hen we are discussing management reform, we are ultimately talking about people’s lives,” Bolton said.

Well Well Bolton wants to save lives eh? =(8c(|)
Lets see what he said the other day about this loss of life he seems to be SO concerned over;

Owww is that gonna leave a mark or what??? =)
have a nice sunday talk Mr. Bolton
I know I nice girl who would take him on.
She’s 64, 5′0″, 175 lbs, covered with tattoos, and curses worse than me. She’d do it cheap because she’s into virgins, but she’s booked for weeks. She might be able to bring a Dominatrix friend, for $5 extra…
July 21st, 2006 at 11:08 pmOops, #17 is meant for #15.
July 21st, 2006 at 11:09 pmThat is extremely skerry Zoo!!!

I found seixon listed here along with the other pasteaters, so you Yes, Seixon is a groupie of the hermeneutic hegelian liars of the wanna be pundits.
[Is seixon karl and is karl really that lame? prolly not but what if? WOW!]
[Biblical Hermeneutics also helps to explain how these folks radicalized jesus and his teachings]
July 21st, 2006 at 11:29 pmOh Ford, uh oh, Seixon hates when you Google him. The Norweigian neo-con is going to get his revenge by, um…never mind. Norweigians aren’t scary.
July 21st, 2006 at 11:34 pmI make it a policy to never Google the paranoid. I’ll find ‘em hot chicks, but no Googling.
July 21st, 2006 at 11:37 pmLOL, I am extremely paranoid. Where are the hot chicks? Amazingly enough, if you Google hot chicks you will find Seixon!!!
July 21st, 2006 at 11:41 pmJPark,
See #17, for the hot chicks.
I would never Google the Norwegian, it’s WAY too personal…
July 21st, 2006 at 11:47 pmZooey, you promised you woulden’t give out all the details. My friend and I said we would do it but it was going to cost ya unless we can duck tape his mouth and hand cuff him to a chain link fence, then it will be cheaper…..LOL..Blessings, Peace we must demand it.
July 21st, 2006 at 11:51 pmSharon, are you talking about Bolton? hahaha – just kidding! (talk about going way off topic!)
July 21st, 2006 at 11:54 pmActually, I have never Googled him. It might make me hurl.
July 21st, 2006 at 11:56 pmohmygod…i think seixon googled me once!!!!
July 22nd, 2006 at 12:02 amMr Tim, Bolton or the troll, either one.. Thing is what is “it” we are going to do. Want a sample after the duck tape and hand cuffs.? What these guys need is a good scrubbing with my long handled car scrubber ( don’t want to get to close) and then hung out to dry for the day or to. Have some old clippers I use to use on horses that would take care of the wig and mustash of bolton’s. Bet they would look and sound better after we were done with their sorry asses……Blessings…Peace, pass it around.
July 22nd, 2006 at 12:03 amBriseadh na Faire,
Will you ever feel clean again…?
July 22nd, 2006 at 12:03 amSharon,
Damn, I thought you were off hugging trees…or loggers…You were supposed to have the weekend off, remember? But, if you really want to, I could send all three of you…
Please, please, please don’t get me started on Bolton’s mustache…it’s not pretty, and can’t respect myself for days…
July 22nd, 2006 at 12:07 amSharon,
Nevermind the car scrubber, I was thinking wire brush. A nice one, with copper wire. Only twice a year, though…
July 22nd, 2006 at 12:20 amZooey, trees not loggers. I much prefer pine pitch to smelly loggers….To hot here today to do much except watch Bear play in the lake and hug the fans. Still 90 inside with the fans on and 60% humidity….It was a good 3 shower day for me……Blessings all, Peace and think up some snow flakes..
July 22nd, 2006 at 12:21 amSharon – I agree with your sentiments there…!

Don’t get me started on Tony Snow…
I had a dog named Bear, once. She was dumb as a stump…er, snowflake.
July 22nd, 2006 at 12:25 amZooey, since I am off this week end (some say I’m off alway’s) I will run over to my shed and get that wire brush…Yep! One does need a big brush to do a dirty job. Not to worry about the mustash, zip, zip it’s gone…..My clippers are the huge industrial kind they can handle manes on Clydesdales. Ha Ha! And we know bolton and these trolls are just tiny trick poneys…..Nite, nite All….
July 22nd, 2006 at 12:29 amYou’re hilarious, Sharon. Have a nice weekend off, you’re all booked for next weekend!
July 22nd, 2006 at 12:35 amGoodnight, sweet lady.
Well maybe not..Yah, my Bear kind of fits that discription to. He’s now 11 months old and over 100 pound’s, gorgious, shiny jet black and thinks planes are birds…The wonderful thing is the labradore joy. He smiles and has a good spirit….The down side is his power far exceeds my ability to keep up….Kind of like everything else in life these days……..Blessings, I’ll keep trying to keep up..Peace for all
July 22nd, 2006 at 12:36 amThank’s Zooey, and don’t forget, tell those guy’s we dont take check’s or credit cards. Strickley cash, gold or silve would be better but hard to lug around… You have a great week end as well….Yes you can throw Snow in as well, consider him a freebe……The duck tape is just wide enough for his big mouth……Blessings
July 22nd, 2006 at 12:42 amIf any Democrats in the Senate vote for Bolton, then they must publicly commit suicide!
July 22nd, 2006 at 1:28 am#40 Jay, now I would buy tickets to see an event like that…I want front row center…Blessings…..
July 22nd, 2006 at 1:57 amArgh, me hearties, swagger on over to Pottersville and hear a frightful tale by Mo Do, Condi’s Flying Dutchman. Argh.

July 22nd, 2006 at 8:02 amanyone who supports this guy supports PNAC and thus imperialism.
July 22nd, 2006 at 8:04 am#12- Mom- DOH! Thanks for pointing that out! That IS really odd. The only time BushCo puts the rush on anything, it is never a good thing. Kofi Annan’s term is almost over. Perhaps BushCo hopes to choose his replacement, preferably someone they ‘own’ already, or who can be bought. All I know is, I don’t like it. BushCo never makes a move without knowing how to benefit from it first. They are up to something, that is for sure.

The gay community would refer to it as a “shaft-wiper”.
July 22nd, 2006 at 10:25 amZooey, do we need to bring a wheel barell to collect all the pennys.? Oh! just had a thought have a friend with a pony cart and could harness Bear up and let him pull all that cash home….LOL…The brushes and soap are ready and waiting…..Where did I put those hand cuffs.? Wait, I found them..Were ready……….Blessings….Peace
July 22nd, 2006 at 10:27 am“The more W. and his tough, by-any-means-necessary superbabe have tried to tame the Middle East, the more inflamed the Middle East has become. Now the secretary of state is leaving, reluctantly and belatedly, to do some shuttle diplomacy that entails little diplomacy and no shuttling. It’s more like air-guitar diplomacy.†– Maureen Dowd, in “Condi’s Flying Dutchman.â€
July 22nd, 2006 at 10:42 amGee, what a concept… Do we really want to send that human turdcicle back to United Nations so he could obstruct its reform process some more?
July 22nd, 2006 at 11:00 amCondi Rice would make a great Presidential canadate in 08. A Giuliani/Rice ticket would be tough to beat my liberal friends…..
July 22nd, 2006 at 11:04 amJim, think you are a bit off on the rice hopeful 08 ticket…..The white house isnt equipt with enough shoe storage space to accomidate dead eyed rice’s needs. Even the black communety would not support this one. Just like, no sane dem. would support Hillery….
July 22nd, 2006 at 11:15 amPost 53 Sharon > 2008 election is already rigged! Republican candidate will be Sen. John McCain and Condi Rice as his running mate versus Democrat candidate Sen. Hillary Clinton and Sen. Obama as her running mate! I will NOT vote in that kind of bogus election for 2 teams of political hacks! 3rd party is needed now!
July 22nd, 2006 at 11:20 amIf the White House could store Nancy Reagans shoe collection, I think they can handle Condi’s collection. When did the “black vote” last win or lose a national election?
July 22nd, 2006 at 11:21 amJay, who would you vote for?
July 22nd, 2006 at 11:22 amPost 56 Jim > third party candidate in 2008 or nobody!
July 22nd, 2006 at 11:26 amNo particular person Jay? I don’t see McCain getting the Republican nomination. He flip flops to much and he’s not very popular in the south.
July 22nd, 2006 at 11:31 amOne thing I would pay to see. A Democratic presidential primary debate (and this could happen) with John Kerry, Al Gore, Hillary Clinton and John Edwards all on the podium together. That would be very interesting. Maybe throw in a John Feingold or Howard Dean. Man, that would be fun to watch…….
July 22nd, 2006 at 11:34 amthird party candidate in 2008 or nobody!
Comment by Jay Randal — July 22, 2006 @ 11:26 am
well, jay – that one put you over…
July 22nd, 2006 at 11:36 ameasier now than ever to skip your remarks and “reports”…
katy go vote for Hillary you pompous fool!
July 22nd, 2006 at 11:44 amKaty, anyone you are considering for 08?
July 22nd, 2006 at 11:52 amThe loose-cannon Bolton will probably be confirmed. Not because of his talent as UN ambassador but beause the Republicans will not change anything while the world is in turmoil. Voinovich (R) has already decided Bolton is qualified, and will change his vote in the Senate. The Dems will be painted as reckless and foolhardy if they deviate from the status quo in these troubling times.
July 22nd, 2006 at 11:53 amBush&co is full of people ill-suited and otherwise unqualified to sit where they are, from W on down the lline. We see the results of their ineptitude, and their blind partisanship in managing everything, as well as their penchant for cronyism, greed and other corruption — Bolton fits right in, therefore he will remain.
Watch the Wallaces and the Russerts of Sunday morning fawn all over him, not challenging his outrageous comments, and give their tacit approval of his appointment. Hell, I don’t even have to watch – they are all so predictable.
I see a long hard road ahead to 2008.
Only Democrat I could vote for president in 2008 is Al Gore, but if he picked Lieberman or another fool like him as a running mate, then I could not even vote for Gore, but like I said the election is being rigged for Hillary Clinton, and she is a warmongering fascist like Bush!
July 22nd, 2006 at 12:00 pmGore would never pick Lieberman again. That bridge has been burned. I really think Gore could win the Democratic primary, but he wouldn’t stand a chance in the fall election. He’s gone so far to the left and he’s given so many wild (body language and rhetoric) speeches, the Republican Election Committee would have a field day.
July 22nd, 2006 at 12:09 pmKaty, anyone you are considering for 08?
much too far away – concentrating on ‘06…
BUT, i like to think about edwards and/or feingold…
maybe gore, but that seems unlikely…
definetely do NOT want hillary…
but for ‘06:
OVERWHELMING DEMOCRATIC VOTER TURNOUT.
THEY CAN’T STEAL IT IF IT’S NOT CLOSE.
the only way this country can get back on track –
OVERSIGHT and CHECKS AND BALANCES.
there would be no bolton debate if that were the case…
July 22nd, 2006 at 12:09 pmI believe, and I’ve heard this from other people in the Republican Party, that John Edwards is the most electable canidate for the Dems. Whether or not he could survive the Democratic Primary is another question.
July 22nd, 2006 at 12:12 pmI don’t see either the House or Senate changing hands. The majority rule in the house could shrink by five or six seats, but not enough to change hands. The Senate will not change hands. All the Dems need though is one chamber to make a few waves. Six months ago, it looked better for Democrats. The changing events at home and in the world have them on the defense. Their “climate of corruption” theme has backfired on them. Not to mention recent resolution votes on Iraq and the Israel military situation shows them to say one thing, then vote another……..
July 22nd, 2006 at 12:17 pmPost 68 > The Democrats will NOT retake the Senate regardless, because if Sen. Lieberman and Sen. Ben Nelson of Nebraska get re-elected, then they could change to Republicans anyways!
If Rep. Nancy Pelosi stops caving to the Republicans, then there is a good chance of Dems taking back the House, but again about 20 Dem. Representatives act like GOP agents!
July 22nd, 2006 at 12:24 pm66 – they best vote by absentee.

July 22nd, 2006 at 6:22 pmmake the change… AND, make THEM change…
that’s just how it is.
Highlights from Hoge at the the NYT on Bolton:
…Manydiplomats say they see Mr. Bolton as a stand-in for the arrogance of the administration itself
… he combatively asserts American leadership, contests procedures at the mannerly, rules-bound United Nations and then shrugs off the organization when it does not follow his lead.
Six ambassadors separately offered similar accounts of an incident in June… All were from nations in Europe, the Pacific and Latin America that consider themselves close allies of the United States, and they asked to speak anonymously.
Mr. Bolton that day burst into a packed committee hall, produced a cordless microphone and began to lecture envoys from developing nations about their weakening of a proposal to tighten management of the United Nations, his chief goal.
Gaveled to silence, he threw up his hands and said, “Well, so much for trying something different.â€
It was not merely rude… “He just busted us apart.”
… 30 ambassadors consulted in the preparation of this article..share the United States’ goal of changing United Nations management practices, expressed misgivings over Mr. Bolton’s leadership.
An envoy of a country close to the United States complained that Mr. Bolton often stayed away from meetings, leaving ambassadors in the dark about American positions, then produced 11th-hour amendments and demands for reopening points that had been painfully muscled into consensus.
On June 30, Mr. Bolton stunned a group of allied ambassadors. As they waited .. to approve a plan to review thousands of outdated and redundant directives, word arrived that Mr. Bolton had cut a side deal to postpone the effort.

Something crazy happens between my computer and TP. So if I feel risky, I will post a link – otherwise, I will try to provide my source, so others can find it.

Israeli missile strike killed seven members of a Palestinian family picnicking on a Gaza beach, which prompted Hamas to end its 16-month-old informal ceasefire with Israel. Hamas has repeatedly pointed to the Gaza beach incident as one of the central events that prompted its cross-border raid. Hamas also points to the capture of some of its leaders by Israel as the provocation for its raid.
Israel fired 7,000 to 9,000 heavy artillery shells into Gaza, killing and wounding scores of people.
