Detainee abuse is still “standard operating procedure,”

according to U.S. soldiers in Iraq interviewed for a new Human Rights Watch report. Soldiers told HRW that “in direct violation of international law, detainees at one camp ‘were regularly stripped naked and subjected to beatings, forced exercises, severe sleep deprivation and various forms of degrading and humiliating treatment.’”

Dubya & Company are now clearly in violation of international law and the rulings of the Supreme Court.

Exactly what do these jokers have to do before they get impeached? Just to keep things in perspective, Clinton got impeached for lying about a hummer.

If Bush loves his country so much he can go to jail for his country, That way America might gain some respect

I’ve been reading Glenn Greenwald’s book “How Would a Patriot Act” on this topic. It’s excellent.

I’ve yet to understand those conservatives who continue to justify torture. From the outset, there have been scarce few dead-set against it. Sullivan is one and I admire him for that.

Just wait. It won’t be long before the gulags get formed…
Stalin was admired by Saddam Hussein. It appears that Stalin has another secret admirer…

  5. Jay Randal says:

Cheney and Rumsfeld love to have people tortured so this stuff will probably never end!

Imagine how the rest of us feel? There is a bill building and at some point in the future the US will have to pay it. Oil shock, economic dislocation and boom! Suddenly you are the third world with nuclear weapons. I fear it’s going to happen:-(

Did TP have to post this? Our Norse Troll is sure to resurface now. Torture and terrorism are parallel procedures – using threats and actual harm unpredictably to gain power and control over others. How can anyone justify using one to fight the other?

  8. Willy says:

The Bush administration has no humanity. They have forfeited all right to be considered part of the human race.

Also, you’ll notice the story that came out in the last couple days in which the four U.S. soldiers accused of murdering suspected insurgents during a raid in Iraq who said they were under orders to “kill all military age males”. This helps to show that bringing democracy to Iraq by the Bush administration is a sham. This is a type of ethnic cleansing. As stated above, the Bush administration has no humanity.

  9. Marie says:

    Sadly, this is no surprise.
Bush has declared himself above the law and his AG has determined that the Geneva concentions don’t apply.
The retribution for the lawlessness of Bush&Co will come back to haunt us and our children.
The stupid, loutish oaf we saw in candid videos last week is not only an embarrassment, but the man is dangerous in his ignorance.

  10. Bush's God says:

‘As you sew, so shall you reap’

  11. Solitaire says:

As long as Bush is in office, the devil will dance.

  12. Skeptic says:

    Dear Bush’s God.

As you sew so shall you rip. ( for non sewers ripping is the act of removing a line of stitching, normally accompanied by cursing and mutterings of “how did I do that bit of stupidity”.

The agricultural version is “As you sow, so shall you reap.”

  13. Bush's God says:

    Septic,
    A sew-sew comment, at best.
    So?

  14. Skeptic says:

    Sow-Sew-Sown-Sewn .
It was a very boring day. I didn’t have anything germane to say to the arguement except remember Bush’s expressions of horror and dismay that the American army would torture people and his claim that this was an isolated incident.
Bush is a lazy lying hunk of vegetation that should be uprooted and removed.

    Yep,PLC.
It’s a head-scratcher–for those of us not of a authoritarian bent.

  16. bones says:

Why did you expect someone who is a psychopath and TORTURES people to give a damn about a legal opinion that says torture is wrong. If the evil bastards had an ounce of consceince or ethics or morality they wouldn’t be torturing and murdering people in the first place.

  17. moonbat patrol says:

yeah lets all shed tears and instigate lawsuits over scumbag terrorists. yay team! Who cares about these rag heads ? what about the torture and mistreatment of our American boys being beheaded?? How about suing the terrorists?? How about dropping your traitorous anti- Americanism for once and supporting America? I know that for most of you left wing marxist-maoist-che lovers here that is a stretch but maybe someday you will see the error and folly of your traitorous ways. I know America has and come the next elections you too will find out how very wrong you all are.

  18. Skeptic says:

    Moonbat;
Errh “Do unto others as you would have then do unto you”
I don’t want torture or abuse to happen to anyone including myself. How would you like to be tortured?

  19. bones says:

Moonbat, you giving advice and political insight to any other poster I have read so far is laughable. The movie bravado combined with the right wing melodrama (”you left wing marxist-maoist-che lovers…you will see the error and folly of your traitorous ways”) is too cliche. Every poster so far I would dare say is pro-American just not pro-torture, and there lies the crux of the problem. You will never be able to convince GOOD Americans that torturing and murdering anyone represents America. And when you lose that ideal, you’ve lost your way
