Did Specter know this even before he said he would sue? McCain is a shocking disappointment, considering his history with Bush&Co, and now watching him prostrate himself before King Bush.
My cynicism of Republicans knows no bounds after carefully studying their actions during the Bush reign.
This is the same McCain who worked and worked and worked to get his anti-torture bill through only to have Bush slap a signing statment on it (in effect nullifying it). How many times have Bush/Rove screwed McCain?. At least Charlie Brown knew Lucy was going to pull the football away everytime he tried to kick it. McCain is either a dope or they got some compromising pictures on him.
I have had a lot of respect for McCain until the last year. He is no longer coming across as the independent thinker with moderate conservative ideals, especially in the economic area. He sounds more and more partisan, pandering, and an apologist for ideals that he previously seemed to abhor.
Question to McCain: Which laws will BushCo enforce – the laws of the U.S. or the laws of PNAC? Or did you really mean “law”, as in singular/one law? If so, which one would that be?
Doughboy cheeks is turning the other cheek,
his ass cheeks, that is.
Bend over a little further, John, W isn’t that tall.
John, you’re toturing us…do you support torture?
Go give Leiberman a bj or something, but stay out
of the news…you’re not.
McCain has clearly made a back room deal with the GOP. It goes something like this, “Support the Presidents policies and you get to be on the next ticket”.
Watching him squirm and spin on the Daily Show this week he looked like a different person. Previously he showed the candor and frankness of a real leader, now he spins like a Carl Rove puppet.
And Sen McCain’s opinion is based, presumably, on Pres Bush’s impecable record of sticking to the letter of the law, not trying to find loopholes to extend his presidential powers, not redefining what torture is, and not bypassing FISA law to singlehandedly approving secret wiretaps… right? Right?
A leader soooo blind is unfit to lead the nation. Wishful thinking is not a workable policy. This is the final nail in the coffin. Johnny Mac is not getting my vote.
I am glad to see here that I am not alone in losing respect for McCain. His recent rants show him to be a Repugnant first and an American somewhere down the line.
He seems to me to be trying mightly to beat out Liberman for the notorious honor of being “most loyal to the Bushcovites Repugnant there is.” Sad to see that happen to someone I respected for, at one time, having a backbone.
I too think the president will enforce the law, that law being whatever law he wants to enforce, while ignoring those laws he doesn’t want to enforce because they wouldn’t be in his best interest.
Sad how McCain has become as tiresome and pathetic and vote-pandering as Lieberman.
It’s interesting that most of these sensitive issues follow along with the same scheme. If you’ve noticed, they do their best to try to calm our anger with the most outreagous display of theatrics. In the end, it’s usually the same story WE LOOSE, THE CRIMINAL ELEMENT WIN’S..
I’ve mentioned many times in the past that our Federal Government contains a huge Criminal Element. Parts of this has been in the news for a long time and there’s a lot more yet to surface. If you think you’re upset now, just wait for what’s coming up ahead!
What makes McCain think Bush will enforce the law? He hasn’t done so yet!
McCain’s words are hollow and lame. And Bush does not enforce laws he doesn’t like – he breaks them, he re-interprets them, and his minions in the courts aid and abet his crimes.
What in the hell is McCain thinking!?
More and More, I’m not liking Sen. McCain.
Is he so anxious to be the next president that he ignores all past evidance??
Not that it matters as Sen. Specter is all bark, no bite.
July 26th, 2006 at 10:48 amwhat if congress passes this bill, but the president issues a signing statement saying he won’t enforce it?
July 26th, 2006 at 10:48 amMcCain and Specter. Two of the most spineless politicians to ever put an american flag pin in their lapel.
July 26th, 2006 at 10:50 amMcCain doesn’t want to upset the Bush base he wants to inherit in the next “election”. I guess he is the appointed successor to our dear leader.

July 26th, 2006 at 11:16 amWhat a simpering idiot. Makes Arlen Specter look like Audie Murphy by comparison.
July 26th, 2006 at 11:22 amMcCain is a fraud. He tries to pander to everyone, that won’t work. Decide what exactly you stand for and get some balls
July 26th, 2006 at 11:25 amMcCain has OD’d on McKool-Aid
July 26th, 2006 at 11:39 amMcCain must either be voted out of office by the citizens of Arizona, or forced to resign in humiliation and disgrace!
July 26th, 2006 at 11:41 amToo bad this is about abiding by the law, not enforcing it. GWB just ignores the laws he doesn’t like.

it looks to be a mccain/leiberman republican ticket in 2008…
mccain is a two-faced, lying, murdering, masochistic psychopath…ought to make a helluva good president.

July 26th, 2006 at 12:38 pmThis is just the latest sad chapter in the Bush-McCain courtship.
Other signs of Mr. Straight Talk’s decline and fall:
“He calls me Johnny Mac.”
John McCain, discussing his relationship with President Bush, 2006.
“Don’t give me that shit. And get your hands off me.”
July 26th, 2006 at 12:43 pmJohn McCain, to President Bush, 2000.
If it were a McCain/Leiberman ticket, and they campaign on a bus, ONE good car accident can solve two problems at once!

July 26th, 2006 at 2:05 pmSeveral years ago I respected John McCain the Senator. I can’t anymore. It appears he has had his mammalian brain sucked right out of his head.

McCain, a POW, should know that war isn’t the answer.
July 26th, 2006 at 5:20 pmHow is McCain is able to speak when he’s on his knees all the time lately getting a mouthful of Bush?
July 26th, 2006 at 6:08 pmYep , PT Barnum WAS right. There’s a sucker born every minute. McCain is the proof in the pudding.
