    Today’s Mantra:

“Obviously the violence in Baghdad is still terrible.”
    - President Bush, July 25, 2006.

  2. bs Says:

israeli drops bomb on u.n observer post and killing 4 u.n. observers. NOTE: an irish army officer warned the israelis 6 times that they are getting dangerously close to the un observers, and obviously they didn’t care. kofi annan said it was deliberate.

they israelis are a criminal regime and don’t give a shit.

  3. Badmoodman Says:

“Obviously the violence in Baghdad is still terrible.” - President Bush, July 25, 2006. - - Ya know, this guy is such a pessimist. Why can’t he report on the positive things in Iraq? He obviously doesn’t support our troops disparaging the job they’ve ben doing for 3 1/2 years now.

  4. Jesus Christ God of WAR Says:

[Bush Cabal] Civil war? What civil war?

    ReighWingNuts live in non-reality.

  5. s Says:

We are entering a world crisis. And the “shot heard around the world” ( a well known phrase regarding what is thought to be one of the catalysts for world war 1) is in the person of G.W. Bush. He has unleashed and made possible the forces of excess, greed, and ignorance. God help us all. May we have the strength to defeat the enemy….and it is within.

  7. Marie Says:

But Bush says, “democracy is hard work.”
    Rummy says “collateral damage.”
Rice says “the lives of Iraqis are improving”
Dick Morris says “civil war is progress”

  8. The Other National Anthem Says:

    Anyone here ever see “Munich?”
It seems like it’s happening again…except on a much larger scale…

  9. DieNowForPeace Says:

But Bush says, “democracy is hard work.”

How the HELL would he know? Does that explain why he eschews our Democratic laws at will, cause, “daddy, it’s just hard work”.

Well, next time, DON’T RUN FOR PRESIDENT, wussy.

  10. Juan C Says:

Well, do they want democracy or what? Bunch of wipms!
    (sarcasm off)

  11. Marie Says:

#9 I saw Munich for the second time a couple of weeks ago.
I thought the point of that movie was to illustrate the futility of endless warring and assassinations and killings.
The Israeli protagonist was duped by his leaders.
There is no way to end this peaceably-only truces can be made that will temporarily slow the war.

  12. The Other National Anthem Says:

    Hear hear, Marie.
I saw Munich only once, last January, but it still is affecting me.
I was afraid that it would be pro-Israeli, as Spielberg is Jewish and all, but he made a very tragic, violent, grotesque human story that I think everyone should watch.
I would even go as far to say as it is the best movie he’s ever made, but I haven’t seen Schindler’s List.
    But anyway, back on topic.
Everything that has happened recently in the middle east was in some way influenced by our disastrous foreign policy. When has a policy of “shoot first and ask questions later” ever worked? Help me out here, I’m not a history major yet.
The time of plugging our ears and singing the Stars and Stripes Forever is over.
    We need action now.

  13. james risser Says:

wow! tp just deleted my comment stating that olmert has to try *harder* to kill more civilians. is that ‘delete-worthy’???

i also said ‘murdering civilians is hard work, but, give olmert more time…he is trying to get up to iraqi numbers…’

  14. DieNowForPeace Says:

    James,
    Not deleted this time!
    Since when does:
    Sarcasm=invective?

  15. james risser Says:

susan estrich just agreed with bat-shit crazy ann coulter. rabid israeli supporters creates an unusual group of ‘fellow-travelers’…

they agreed that annan should not have said that the olmert crime family killing the six u.n. people with george bush’s bombs ‘appeared intentional’…

i get a post deleted. THE sacred cow of israel lifts its ugly head and takes a dump on innocent civilians, and then speaks of it being the ‘victim’ and all ‘goose-step’ in line… schumer, clinton, coulter, and estrich all agreeing… but for the protest of ms benjamin, this country ought to be ashamed of itself this morning…

  16. james risser Says:

    die,

well, give them time… and, i guess when you have an anti-israeli post that gets deleted, it doesn’t even warrant the ‘moderated’ label…it is just expunged, as if it was never there.

just to not feel left out, the israelis killed a bunch of palestinians this morning as well. it is odd that i can’t find anything on google yet. it was on fox earlier…

  17. james risser Says:

    die,

oh, here is the link… killed nine palestinians, one a three-year-old girl.

schumer, clinton, coulter and estrich and the rest of the pro-israeli lobby moan with pleasure….

  18. DieNowForPeace Says:

    James,

I too had a harsh Israel post deleted. Must be a Zionist or two on the TP staff…

    Thanks for the link.

Shame on the Congress for defending Israel!

    by Jay Randal

The Israeli assault on the civilians of Lebanon is one of the most vile war crimes ever perpetrated, since the end of W.W.II, so Israel’s actions must be condemned!

Disproportionate use of military force, and revenge on civilians, are outlawed by the Geneva Conventions, so Israel is in gross criminal violation of every protocol!

Iraq’s civil war has been caused by the Bush Regime occupying that nation, to control its Oil Reserves, so all US forces/troops must be removed immediately from Iraq!

  20. Bushhater Says:

The Israeli/Lebanese conflict makes an excellent diversion from Iraq….how convenient.

    Comment by Jay Randal

I must be following the wrong news channels, Jay. I thought it was the Hezbollah terrorists who started this mess with an assault INSIDE the borders of Israel, resulting in the deaths of 8 soldiers and kidnapping of 2 others—-following years of scattered rocket attacks on Israeli civilians ment solely to inflict terror on women and children.

(Joe Sixpack, political BSer and note taker from parts unknown.)

  23. jules Says:

I read a quote today that should have been prophetic for this war in Iraq:

“Vietnam presumably taught us that the United States could not serve as the world’s policeman; it should also have taught us the dangers of trying to be the world’s midwife to democracy when the birth is scheduled to take place under conditions of guerilla war.”

Sad…the quote was from 1979…too bad Bush never studied history!

  24. Jay Randal Says:

Post 23 Joe > We all know you are a Zionist apologist and agent! Israel is slaughtering hundreds of Lebanese civilians > my post was not about Hezbollah’s actions! Israel has been planning this attack on Lebanon for months and just needed an excuse!

As for the rest, the ethinc cleansing of the arab population is working according to schedule.

  26. Joe Sixpack Says:

Israel has been planning this attack on Lebanon for months and just needed an excuse!
    Comment by Jay Randal

I don’t think of myself as an apologist for Israel. But I do think they get the short end of the stick everytime by the cowardly governments in the world who are afraid to back them when they are right because of a muslim backlash. I don’t think the Israelis are slaughtering anyone. They dropped warning leaflets before they attacked to clear the area of civilians. They should have hauled ass instead of standing there in front of the news cameras, laughing while tearing them up.

By the way, don’t you seriously think Hezbollah has ALSO been planning an attack on Israel and used the Hamas kidnapping as an excuse to throw wood on the fire? Of course they did. They don’t want peace, they want the peace process finished.

Well, they are getting just what they wished for. Maybe when its over the country of Lebanon and its people will reign in this hate-filled group that they have allowed to control and intimidate their government.

    Shalom.

  27. Jay Randal Says:

Joe > how would you like the Canadians or Mexicans dropping leaflets on your house, telling you to leave immediately, and then dropping bombs on your car as you try to flee? Targeting civilians is a WAR CRIME, and that is what Israel is doing to the Lebanese! Hezbollah’s actions were a provocation, but Israel used that as an excuse to destroy the entire nation of Lebanon > that is disproportionate use of military force!

    Comment by Hugo

I read that article, Hugo, and thanks for posting it. It was hard to stomach considering it was from the Laura Ingraham show. Still, it was written by Jonathan Cook so I read it. Its all piss and vinegar: Israel should sit down and negotiate with terrorist groups. Israel should do tit for tat instead of fighting back.

Sorry, all who might disagree. I am old school. If someone keeps picking on you and then kicks you in the balls, its time to kick some ass.

    Comment by Jay Randal

Well, Jay, if my next door neighbors were the KKK and I knew it, and the KKK had been attacking and killing Mexican soldiers and taking them prisoner, I think I just might haul my ass out of here!

I have not seen ANY proof that Israel is targeting civilians except on Arab TV—-but of course, the terrorists ARE civilians if you want to count them.

  30. ******* Says:

*the Joe Sixpack moniker has been stolen, this is not him but a dopey troll.*pathetic

  31. rickd Says:

    Jay,
Does it concern you at all that Hezbollah is locating their rocket launchers amongst the civilian population? Do you condem that type of behaviour? If someone is firing rockets from the backyard of a civilian area, and the other side must eliminate that threat, then civilians may well be killed and injured. You will note the Israeli army is NOT hiding among the civilian populations yet the Hezbollah is firing its rockets into civilian areas within Israel. Either their (Hezbollah) has very poor aim or they are trying to kill civilians on purpose, rather than civilians being killed because their enemy combatants are amongst them.

  32. David B Says:

“They’re just numbers.” - Tony Snow

  33. David B Says:

    Joe,
Some of us are tired of sending $10 billion in aide to Israel for 60 years only to watch Lebanese civilians, all Sunni Arabs only, get the crap kicked out of them. While you make points about hezbollah pointing missles at civilian targets, you turn around and state that the Israels are not slaughtering anyone. Well, 12 to 14 compared to over 420 seems a bit one-sided to me, I don’t know what number you use to define a slaughter. The Israels, Lebanese, and Palistinians all deserve a homeland where the can live in peace. Until the US examines and redefines its relations with Israel and begins to support the Arabs as equals to the Israels, peace will not come. Oh, and yes, there will continue to be terriorists are the doorstep of America.

  34. rickd Says:

    David B (34),

Were it not for the fact that a great many Israelis have sought shelter in bomb shelters from the Hezbollah rockets, there would be far more Israeli deaths. Why not talk about the number of rockets fired versus numbers killed. As I stated to Jay, the Hezbollah cowards are using the civilians as shields. If they had any courage at all, they’d do like the IDF, get out in the battlefield and fight.

Do you not understand that Hezbollah is receiving it’s “aid” from Syria and Iran? If Israel were to not have assistance from someone like the US and Hezbollah continued to be armed by Syria and Iran, they would carry out Iran’s president’s wish, and wipe Israel off the map.

I believe Secretary of State Rice stated a new Middle East is necessary, that there can be no return to the status quo of political uncertainty and instability. This change is only going to happen when all parties agree to it. Unfortunately with Islamic fascism running rampant over there, that agreement may not be forthcoming any time soon.

  35. Marie Says:

Did I hear this correctly — that Israel dropped leaflets in Lebanon warning civilians to get out, and then they bombed the roads?

  36. Hugo Says:

Joe, as i see, you just killed the messenger and ignored the message. Fair enought, as you said, you are old school and prefer violence over reason.

“you can’t reason with terrorrists, you moron!”..someone just scream as i hit the post button.

Then i would say that, despite the rethoric, they are humans, they have brains exactly like ours, and so, if anyone tried to listen to them, maybe, just maybe, there could some common ground upon which a better world for the middle-east could be constructed.

And from that point on i would be promoted/downgraded to terrorrist simpatizer status.

Anyway, what amazes me is how people are capable of simplifing decades, centuries, perhaps thousands of years of history into no more than 2-3 sentences. And what is worst: finding comfort in this simplistic view for the mayhem and destruction being unleashed upon our brothers and sisters, our fellow Homo sapiens that made the unfortunate mistake of being born at the wrong places, in the wrong families at the wrong moment of history.

I hope this ends before we start counting the deaths by the millions. Althought, as it is today, i doubt we can avoid this outcome.

  37. piltdown Says:

Marie, not only did they bomb the roads, but they bombed the cars LEAVING on those roads. By telling the people to evacuate the cities, they’re just making them easier to shoot on the roads.

  38. Gay Bear Says:

Yet, Bush doesn’t believe in murder.

  39. Marie Says:

    #38
Thanks. I thought I might have heard incorrectly. In the past few minutes I was also told that they bombed ambulances transporting the wounded civilians.
Israel’s military and armament is reportedly precise and among the best (much of it is ours) yet, they are saying that the UN building was hit by stray artillery. I am not a munitions expert, of course, but can artillery destroy a building to the extent that the building was destroyed - or does that kind of destruction require bombs or missiles?
    Just asking.
