Rumsfeld says he’s too busy

to testify at a public Congressional hearing about the Iraq war. It’s been six months since Rumsfeld has testified before the Senate Armed Services Committee.

UPDATE: Under pressure, Rumsfeld changes his position and agrees to testify.

Well if Rummy is too busy, then he can resign from his position! His incompetence has destroyed Iraq and damaged our military aw well!

  2. Jay Randal says:

as well! Rumsfeld deserves contempt from the entire US citizenry!

  3. DrSinker says:

    No Donald, you’re too stupid.

  4. ? says:

  5. Southwest Bob says:

bush/cheney do not want further discussion about Iraq. . . it’s good news time…. Isreal and the oppurtunity to attack and defeat the evil empires of Syria and Iran. New targets. . . same story.

  6. Freedm Hater says:

  7. D. Rumsfeld says:

    I’m not accountable.

  8. GSD says:

I mean henny-penny, I am busy ducking responsibilty, shirking duties and laying blame on others for some sill hearing.

  9. Kevin says:

There must be some things that he doesn’t know that he knows that we don’t know that he knows!

  10. PLC (PatrioticLiberalChristian) says:

If he’s not too busy to cash his paycheck then he should get his ass to Congress or have it hauled in through subpoena. In either case, he should be under oath. This guy is OUR employee, not our boss or master.

I like doing Rumsfeld “I don’t know” posts but this attitude is so infuriating that I can’t muster the sense of humor over the sense of outrage.

  11. jason baddo says:

they put him in a rubber room but wont tell us. thats why he cant attend. he is in his last throes as is the regime he currently represents.

  12. David B says:

Is Rumsfeld even still alive? I haven’t seen or heard from him in weeks. Deep cover I guess.

  13. Ho Chi Minh says:

Congress should issue a subpoena to testify and if he refuses cite him for contempt of Congress. It’s been done before, but don’t count on it now with the Reichwing in control of both Houses.

  14. For Truth says:

Would this be the imfamous “Part Doux” of the Iraq intelligence investigation, probably not.

  15. Zappatero says:

    Dereliction of Duty!

  16. Jay Randal says:

If Rummy is forced to testify, or changes his mind to testify, before the Congress, then he must do it under oath! If he is allowed to testify NOT under oath, then every member of the Congress must resign > PERIOD.

  17. Cali4nian says:

Right. And wasn’t George Bush going to give monthly updates on the war in Iraq, too?

  18. RUCerious says:

Let’s see if you’re too busy for a little trip to the Hague, Herr RummDumm…

  19. JFM,USAF,RET says:

I happened to be talking on the phone when I read this. I was speaking to my golf partner and best friend who is a rabid “GOP, Good, DEM, Bad”, non-htinker-but a hell of a great guy otherwise. He lost it! “What do you mean he’s too busy? WTF does he do anyway? Sit on his A** and lie through his teeth?” Needless to say I was shocked. I’ve been trying for 6 years to convince him that HIS party has been hijacked, but to no avail. Of course he still thinks Dubya is not to blame just that “A**hole Rudmmy”. Hey progress often comes in SMALL steps.

  20. Tom In Maine says:

Rummy can’t testify or won’t testify in a congressional hearing because the administration and the Republican incumbents in congress can’t afford any more bad press than they already get from the total mismanangement of this war by Rummy and his friends.

  21. walter66 says:

I mean, other than finding out positively and without a doubt that Rumsfeld was a crap bag, what else could be possibly learned from having him testify?

  22. mountaingirl says:

Where is the accountability? Checks and balances?? Let’s hold these guys responsible for the horrible war crimes they have committed and the money they continue to roll in due to no-bid contracts. Congress should be pressured until they are brought in to testify under oath. Don’t we care any more about our country than to sit around and not do anything about this?? The time is NOW!

  23. Kay says:

Rumsfeld is a war criminal and a pathological liar

  24. Zooey says:

What Ho Chi Minh said @ #16.

I hate being the last girl to the party…

  25. Triumph says:

I have this vision of him curled up in a corner in the fetal position, scared … shaking and rocking … and muttering …

” … just small elements of 10 to 20 people, not large military formations or networks of attackers … ”

“… in those regions where pockets of dead-enders are trying to reconstitute, Gen. (Tommy) Franks and his team are rooting them out … ”

” … in short, the coalition is making good progress …”

(These, of course, are tidbits from June, 2003. )

  26. Dave M. says:

Let’s be reasonable, guys. He is running about nine wars right now. And there’s soo much torture that has to be signed off on, you know.

  27. WaltTheMan says:

If he resigns, he should have plenty of time.

  30. Cyra Brown says:

I wonder if he will be testifying under oath. If he doesn’t, it will not matter what he says.

  31. Evil Spaniard says:

He is too busy… trying to evade the radar of the Iraq’s Military Failure, the Lebanon’s Military Failure, the Afghanistan’s Military Failure…

  32. Ho Chi Minh says:

Hiya Zooey, had to shut down early last night due to storms rumbling through the area. Checking the posts just before leaving for work. Bye all.

  33. dlet says:

Rumsfield is in the last throes of sanity. Kick him in the arse over the edge.

  34. dlet says:

Oh man, I ‘ll have to wipe my TV down after I watch him. It’ll be oozing with smugness.

  35. Heynow says:

The fool just cannot figure out what has gone so wrong… But senate is getting ready to let him have with both barrels for being so incompetent. I mean it will be the Republicans and Democrats. I’m sure he will hand in his resignation letter tommorow.

  36. Zooey says:

Does anyone know if Rummy will be under oath? The word “testify” implies that he will be under oath, but these days…

  37. Jay Randal says:

Zooey > GOP fools never want one of their own to testify under oath, because they are all certified liars, and would get caught in perjury, so his testimony will just be lies and hearsay!
