I think the chain of reasoning is meant to go like this:

Any objective finding that COS is a pollutant is true
=> God is a polluter
=> God is bad
!!! BRAIN EXPLOSION !!!
=> God is good
=> God is not a polluter
=> Any objective finding that CO2 is a pollutant is false.

POST 1-AUGUST PROBABILITIES FOR AT LEAST ONE MAJOR (CATEGORY 3-4-5) HURRICANE LANDFALL ON EACH OF THE FOLLOWING COASTAL AREAS:

1) Entire U.S. coastline – 73% (average for last century is 52%)

2) U.S. East Coast Including Peninsula Florida – 64% (average for last century is 31%)

3) Gulf Coast from the Florida Panhandle westward to Brownsville – 26% (average for last century is 30%)

4) Above-average major hurricane landfall risk in the Caribbean

With the exception of item 3, the hurricane season is still above average.

I don’t think he is a quack. He is an authority in the hurricane field, but on the global warming subject he is flat out wrong.

Most of his arguments can be translataed into “it is not so because I say so”, or he tries to smear global warming proponents by insinuating financial interests.

I have no opinion whatsoever on global warming. I’m in Texas – it’s always warm. I also understand the world goes through natural warming and cooling periods. I’m reminded of a George Carlin bit which really struck a cord with me:

The planet has been through a lot worse than us. Been through all kinds of things worse than us. Been through earthquakes, volcanoes, plate tectonics, continental drift, solar flares, sun spots, magnetic storms, the magnetic reversal of the poles…hundreds of thousands of years of bombardment by comets and asteroids and meteors, worldwide floods, tidal waves, worldwide fires, erosion, cosmic rays, recurring ice ages…And we think some plastic bags, and some aluminum cans are going to make a difference? The planet…the planet…the planet isn’t going anywhere. WE ARE!

We’re going away. Pack your shit, folks. We’re going away. And we won’t leave much of a trace, either. Thank God for that. Maybe a little styrofoam. Maybe. A little styrofoam. a.) Last years hurricane season prompted forecasters to be overly caution (read: pessimistic) in their 2006 predictions

b.) the media fervor surrounding global warming further influenced their initial predictions, toward a more extreme end

c.) a slow start to the season has led them to moderate their estimates back toward the historical trend.

Since it’s God’s fault – solve global warming – impeach God. The hearings would be very interesting. They would have to shore up the lightening protection systems in the Capital Building if the hearings were not held in Hell (Which would be the most probable venue.).
