following BP’s shutdown of its Prudhoe Bay oil field in Alaska. “It takes very little to drive up prices,” a spokesman for the auto club said. “It shows how fragile the…system is.”

MEXICAN ELECTION UPDATE
Please recall that over two weeks ago the IFE did an examination of only 500 precincts out of 130K and found 397 errors in favor of Obrador and a mere 103 in favor of Calderon.
Then last week IFE came out with the statement that they had found mistakes, but no fraud.
The elections court, where Obrador sued, just last week asked that 12K precincts be re-counted. This was done and they found so many errors that just now they have called for a complete recount of all votes cast.
Calderon, with the help of the RNC, tried to steal this election, but it appears that they may fall short in the total re-count.
More and more is coming out every day. There are reports now that in the Obrador strongholds voters were blocked from going to the polls by goons who threatened them with death if they voted. They set up road blocks leading to the polling places and would not let anyone pass unless they vowed to vote for Calderon.
This probably accounts for a relatively low voter turnout in Mexico City which aided Calderon in keeping the vote for Obrador low. The elections court also reviewed the television coverage which at all times had Calderon ahead, as released by the elections commission, but the true fact was that Calderon was never ahead of Obrador until the final hours of vote counting.

Good thing he wouldn’t allow one of the insider testify or more names of the GOP would have come out. Yes Holy Joe is all for the Dems as he takes information to the GOP. The Nixon supporter said the same thing in the 70’s Nixon did nothing wrong and he would stay and fight, Abramoff said he was not guilty, Cunningham said he was not guilty and he would prove his innocents. So many supporters still believe Nixon, Abramoff and Cunningham did nothing wrong because we have to believe that a person we trust would lie. Let’s hope that the people of the State look at the facts to judge who’s telling the truth. Look we heard everything was going good and we are winning in Iraq yes we’re winning alright but of course Iraq people know it’s a civil war and want Americans out but we will believe until our official liars tell us different.

1) Support alternative methods of fuel
2) Raise fuel effencieny standards
3) Support a windfall tax on horrendous profits made by the oil companies.

Little has been done to protect the fragile infrastructure within America, whether we are talking about port security or security of nuclear power stations. So far it has been all hat and no cattle. Now fast forward to hurricane season and another category 4 storm in the area of the offshore oil rigs. Ouch on the price of gas. But, like everything else (except Iraq) Bush just waits back and lets shit happen.

Let me tell you about the policy that Joe Liberman has co-sponsored to crack down on gas price gouging by the big oil companies. It’s called the Oil and Gas Industry Antitrust Act of 2006. Lieberman provides real leadership in the senate and he has the experiecne to get things done. Lieberman supports, through his meausure, that gas companies can’t hoard supplies, allow us to sue OPEC, make it harder for big oil companies to merge, and it would set up a task force to prevent collusion. These are the types of common sense policies that Joe Lieberman supports and he should be sent back to washington to finish his work.

A war that cuts oil production from Iraq, disenfranchising Iran so they raise prices, trying to kill Chavez and imperilling the Venezualian oil supply, telling the Russians they are returning to Communism and oppressing their people endangering Russian oil to the US, and pissing off the Canadians on protective tariffs endangering Canadian gas and oil supplies, and not having any emergency plans to deal with Katrina and the BP oil fiascos. “IT TAKES VERY LITTLE!” What planet do you have to be from to view these things as very little?

They seem to think they can just keep on taking everyone else’s money. I for one am tired of funding the Bush piggy bank. I am also tired of the “crisis” of the day, made for TV policies that hide the real Bush agenda of robbing the middle class.

August 8th, 2006 at 2:01 pmThe intellectual banter on TP and in the blogosphere is undoubtedly having an effect on the status quo , as evidenced by Lieberman’s fall in the polls before today’s primary . But active participation by the citizenry is crucial to democracy .I believe our system is so corrupt at this stage and influenced by lobbyists representing the major corporations , that merely voting is no longer an option that will work ! We need to have strategies that that confront the problems we face directly ! We are the power ! Don’t wait till November ,act now !
