Well said. What immediately comes to mind is that these troops should not have to be enduring that incredible heat because they should never have been placed in that position in the first place. Also, that heat has to fray upon their nerves, thus, in all likelihood, impairing their judgment and causing more innocent Iraqis to be killed. This simply reinforces the belief that U.S. and coalition forces should be withdrawn from that beleagured country as rapidly and as quickly as possible.

However, I am totally against the process of using religion as the sole justification for any law or policy of our government, at any level. Such use of religion, dilutes the faith and endangers the Jeffersonian government of our country.

Now all we here is support our troops pass the ice cream. Only when something affect each person does Americans join together as one. So nothing will happen with the lip service of support our troops. Yes it is 125 plus my child is in Iraq and we’re like shooting ducks with out direction and sorry some of our troops have had to return while still recovering from injuries and on medication but Americans don’t care about that nor does the government. No soldier is allowed to leave even if sick.
So be proud of our leaders who would and didn’t serve our country when they had a chance but will send others to die based on lies.
This is why I refused to bitch about the heatwave here in the US last week… just think of what our guys over there are going through. Or think about how the Iraqi people, with power for only 4-6 hrs. a day (if they haven’t been displaced by violence), are going through. Unreal.
Oh, and Mr. Hater, you can just go fu*k right off. We’re not upset that our party was voted out of office you fool, we’re upset that the Constitution is being shat upon, our military is being decimated by incompetent leadership, our standing in the world is diminished to the point of laughable, and the only exit strategy this president seems to be comfortable with is the Rapture.

I’m not so sure he “hates” the troops, more like he’s too much of a wuss to have served his country. That’s something that takes courage. IHL is devoid of that quality, from my experience.
I remember Basic Training when the weather was in the upper 90’s and how hot it got. I’ve been sending “care packages” to my freinds who are still serving over there. Something that I’ve sent that helps are the “cooler packs” so they can freeze them and use them around the headband of their helmets. These are the cooler packs that are about 1 inch square in a sheet of 4×8. This really helps, according to my soldier friends.

The few that visit there that actually participated in hand to hand combat are the complete opposite. They think the Iraq occupation is not a real war, they think GW is a traitor to the country, and they think that most war is just plain awful and unnecessary. Something about losing limbs that makes those particular veterans not appreciate a good killin’.

It’s really wild, every other day they have you driving on a different set of lanes. It has made my daily commute a little more interesting, and dangerous. The blasted ‘Gawkers’ are the worst. They have the Toll Booths all done on the G.H. side, and I know they are DYING to use them. About a month ago, a Barge that was carrying a section of the new bridge deck, which weighs hundreds of TONS, all by it self, got STUCK under the old bridge! They had miscalculated how low in the water the barge needed to be to clear both bridges. OOPSIE! It took all sorts of methods just to figure out how to detach the barge from the bridge, without damaging either one, as well as the section of the bridge, so as not to damage it, they would have had to build another one. It took a few days to do it all, but it worked. They have the cables strung from one end to the other, but only about a third of them are connected. The WA. State ‘DOT’ has pictures you can look at on line. The computer renditions of the ‘Before and After’ pictures are trippy to look at, ESPECIALLY the “Nalley Valley Viaduct” after picture. I see the gradual transformation every day, but I still don’t know how they are going to pull that off!

Not only that but those troops these days are mostly right wingers that actually believe in their Bush God. So these days Bush is merely sending to death, maiming and extremely uncomfortable weather those that believe in him, how ironic. What a brilliant political stategy, kill off part of your constituency.
And by Bush’s own accounting, the troops won’t come home until we win the war, which logically means that Bush can’t even win a war in tiny Afghanistan and small Iraq because our troops are still there, at least not yet. Bush is a war God, trust him. If it takes decades, we shall win according to Bush, so stay the course. Just think how many right winger soldiers will die and be maimed in a decade or so. Bush is geting what he wants. But the plan is so brilliant, that I don’t get his logic, but I guess I just must rustle up some good old fashioned blind faith, Bush knows what he’s doing. The most incredible Bush war plan in not being able to capture bin Laden is pure genius, although little old me is just too dumb to understand such genius.

It’s easy for people that sit in air conditioned rooms, and don’t need to dodge bullets and bombs everyday to send others off to fight wars for their oil profits. If the Arab nations were really serious about stopping the fighting in the Middle East, they would slow down oil production. Without the crude, this nation would come to a screeching halt. Part of my posting Jefferson quotes is to teach myself more about what this incredible person had to say as I have always admired him. I also think his words are incredibly relevant in our current political atmosphere. I agree about the misguided pseudo-Christians having the political power today. I call them Modern Pharisees: more concerned with their status, telling others how to act and believe while hypocritically breaking their own rules, keeping people from the Kingdom of God on earth through their judgmental attitudes, greediness, lack of concern for the poor, etc.
I read through about two thirds of the comments and gave up. Just a thought, why not stay on topic and totally ignore folks like IHL. When you don’t come out and play, they will go away!
