Visitors to the mountain “hope to watch a rock the size of two Empire State Buildings collapse onto the canyon floor nearly 700 feet below, as retreating glacier ice robs a cliff face on the eastern edge of the Eiger Mountain of its main support.”
Those sick bastards. They are gathering because they want to watch this travisty? Why don’t they gather at their local enviormental group and start helping?!? I hope you Swiss assholes anger another group enough that they murder you all.
Notice in the news story there is the picture. In the picture, there is basically a string keeping people from going over the edge. In America, 500 people would have already fallen over the side, and all would have filed lawsuits.
See,this is what the editor of the National Review should be talking about. Only with global warming could we see awesome videos like the one this event promises.
Glaciers in the Alps may have lost up to a tenth of their volume in the hot 2003 summer alone, researchers at Zurich university have said, and the ice now only occupies between half and a third of its volume in 1850.

Half of the ice is gone in about 150 years.
Yupp by 2150 we will have bike trails in the Alps for Bush to tumble down, year round no less.
All the mountains in Switzerland may begin to crumble as the glaciers melt away > it becomes a danger to the alpine villages nestled in the valleys around the mountains! Rock slides could crush houses, or even tourist sites, so this is very sad for the Swiss citizens!
The glaciers in the European alps have really taken a beating. Hope they get this rock fall on video.

August 8th, 2006 at 4:42 pmI need gravel for my driveway, and also I like seeing mountains up close, but I don’t like heights. It all works out.

August 8th, 2006 at 5:45 pmI can’t wait for that Swiss mountain to crumble down so we can see if the center is made of creamy nougat or marshmallow swirl.

Yes, we do. It’s pretty much Christoph Blocher of the SVP (Swiss People’s Party). The guy is an all-around jerk.
