At a press briefing moments ago, Tony Snow claimed that last night’s Connecticut Senate primary gave voters the chance to answer the question, “Do you take the war on terror seriously?” Snow said that Connecticut voters who backed Ned Lamont (and the 57 percent of Americans who support his position on Iraq) were choosing to “ignore the difficulties and walk away.” That is the same approach, he said, that led Osama bin Laden to the conclusion “that Americans were weak and wouldn’t stay the course and that led to September 11th.” Watch it:
Full transcript:
Take a look at the blogs today, they’re pretty hot. And the real question for the American people to ask themselves is, do you take the war on terror seriously? With all the developments around the world — and, if so, how do you fight it to win? There seems to be two approaches, and in the Connecticut race, one of the approaches is ignore the difficulties and walk away. Now, when the United States walked away, in the opinion of the Osama bin Laden in 1991, bin Laden drew from that the conclusion that Americans were weak and wouldn’t stay the course and that led to September 11th.
It is important to realize that terrorists are not simply inspired by American engagement in the world, but they have their own agenda and it is an agenda that if we turn around and look the other way, they’re not going to ignore. They will continue to build strength and they will continue to build adherence and it is a vitally important debate to have.
And it’s really up to Democratic candidates and the Democratic Party to figure out how they want to stand in the war on terror. Do they want to have the sort of time-table approach, leave by a date certain? Do they not want to have something constructive to say about gathering threats from Iran and elsewhere? Or do they want to acknowledge the fact that in a dangerous world it takes commitment, it takes persistence? Throughout American history, generation through generation has been faced with difficulties, and each generation has risen to the challenge and we’re confident this generation will do the same.
Yep keep pushing that dems are weak on security talking point, ignore the polls that show the american public aint buying it.
August 9th, 2006 at 3:00 pmThe Administration (not to mention Fox News) rushing to the aid of Lieberman is making it increasingly difficult for him to make himself out to be any sort of Democrat, even an “Independent Democrat.”
August 9th, 2006 at 3:00 pmThis is very odd. The Republicans really like ol’ Liberman. Why doesn’t he just change to the Republican party?
You know why they are pimping for him so much now right? He was their double agent. Nothing more. They are losing their spy, so they are pissed.
Good bye Joe.
August 9th, 2006 at 3:03 pmHey shitbag Snow, when people are pissed about something (Iraq) and a candidate supports said issue, he doesn’t get the nomination. Its called democracy, but I wouldn’t expect anyone associated with Bush to understand the concept. Side note, really ironic Leiberman is such a war monger but bemoans the cartoon violence of Grand Theft Auto. What an idiot. So long and good riddance.
August 9th, 2006 at 3:03 pmYeah, somehow agreeing with 60 percent of the American public is “elitist.” The DC establishment, the Administration, and its allies are the ones with real power and wealth, hence the only ones that can properly be labeled as “the elite.”
They’ve finally realized the potential of people-powered politics, personified by Lamont and his Campaign. They will do or say anything to squash it.
August 9th, 2006 at 3:04 pmIs it “normal” for the WH press secretary to comment on political cadidates during election years like this? I am really just asking. Maybe it is.
August 9th, 2006 at 3:05 pm..and since Bushco at the very least stood down on 9/11 I’m sure Snow can promise it. Subtle Blackmail.
August 9th, 2006 at 3:06 pmToo bad this joker is appointed, cuz I’d like to throw his ass to the curb with a little Snow-mentum!
August 9th, 2006 at 3:06 pmHmmmmm, lets recap
Which Administration shut down the CIA unit devoted to catching or killing Usama bin Laden again?
Would seem to be a smart strategy to challenge every GOP politician playing the 9-11/National Security card to openly support re-establishing that CIA unit at the earliest possible opportunity, as there’s no way to use al-Qaeda as any kind of a strawman electoral strategy, not when claiming al-Qaeda is still a threat to hit the US again
August 9th, 2006 at 3:07 pmMr. Snow, the well of “9/11 fear” is empty. The people can hear the bucket clanging at the bottom. You are looking ever more desperate and hateful.
Please continue on with this out of touch course of thinking. It can only do more harm to your party.
-GSD
August 9th, 2006 at 3:08 pmSupporting Bush is supporting the creation of thousands and thousands of more terrorists. When will Bush stop throwing fuel on the fire. But, I guess that’s what you get from an insecure macho boy.
August 9th, 2006 at 3:08 pmHe also said that the dems wanted to quit Iraq and this was quitting the war on terror.
Linking to the old LIE, eh Tony Snowman?
August 9th, 2006 at 3:09 pmTony Snow Fascist spokesman for a fascist administration, so of course they support Fascist-Zionist freak Lieberman ! 60 % of American NOW oppose the Iraqi War-GOP logic- 60 % of Americans are NOW traitors !!
August 9th, 2006 at 3:09 pmYou’re right, buzzbomb, they don’t understand the democratic process - theirs is more like the fascist process.
Those who pontificate on the sanctity of life on a dead person, kept alive by mechanical means, or on two cells before they are potential life, but vote to slaughter people in a war of choice are hypocrites of the lowest regard.
August 9th, 2006 at 3:09 pmWho knew CT was so POWERFUL?
August 9th, 2006 at 3:11 pmIf we can remove the Bush apologists and speak strongly and logically in a unified way against this sort of tripe, the American people may just realize what absurd and baseless crap the administration has been spewing for so long.
August 9th, 2006 at 3:11 pmSo why are the Republicans so concerned about what is happening internally within the Democrat party? Or is it that Lieberman really isn’t a Democrat (chuckle, chuckle)?
August 9th, 2006 at 3:12 pmThe Tone-miester ain’t lookin’ real chipper lately . . .
August 9th, 2006 at 3:12 pmthe thicker b.s. that he’s been chokein’ on since accepting his new position in the admin. is takin’ it’s toll.
He’ll be needin’ to ’spend more time with the family’ real soon.
Hey Snowjob, it’s a government of the PEOPLE. Nobody appointed you my daddy to tell me what’s right or wrong, to tell me what to think, or drag me down a road I and a majority of my fellow citizens DO NOT WANT TO TRAVEL. Dismissing the 57% as “simply a poll reflecting people’s felling of insecurity” is a FRICKING patronizing and insulting thing to do. I DON”T NEED YOUR STUPID ASS telling me what I’m thinking. Go kiss George’s ass and stop insulting and denegrating my opinion!
August 9th, 2006 at 3:14 pmYou’d think they’d understand that Republicans tell Democrats to vote for candidate A in a Democratic primary, that would make them more likely to vote for candidate B.
August 9th, 2006 at 3:14 pmWhat a slime bucket! If anything is weakening America, it’s the GOP ‘Divide & Conquer” strategy.
Remember after 9/11 when we were all united? Before Rove/Bush decided to use 9/11 as a way to get their party elected? When we actually wanted to after the people who attacked us?
I remember. And with the administrations failure after failure, the people are starting to remember too.
August 9th, 2006 at 3:16 pmStay what course? Terrorists from Saudi Arabia attacked us, so Bush attacked Iraq.
Save it for the trailer park, Tony. Soon, that’s the only support you’ll have left.
August 9th, 2006 at 3:16 pm.
Oliver Stones new 9/11 based movie opens today along with the old emotions about that awful day in our history. Watch for the white house and the rupugs to exploit the hell out of peoples fears of revisiting that day. Also, mr. snow, please f*ck off and die.
August 9th, 2006 at 3:16 pmAnother persistent attempt by this administration to try and link the occupation of Iraq to the so-called war on terror and the attacks on 09/11. By doing this, Fox is trying to portray the Democrats as being somehow soft on national security, despite the fact that only 7 per cent of the terrorists are aligned against the U.S. and coalition forces in Iraq. Let us see if Harry Reid and the rest of the Democrats can get the message out to the American people that what Tony Fox and the Republicans are saying are lies. They have less than three months to start telling the citizens of this country the truth. It shouldn’t be all that difficult for the Democrats to do this. Let us see if they are up to the task.
August 9th, 2006 at 3:17 pmPretty soon Snow and Lieberman will both be out of their job.
August 9th, 2006 at 3:17 pmFunny how the Iraq occupation has now become the ‘war on terra’.
August 9th, 2006 at 3:18 pmSnow is conflating the two again and again. If we want to end our disatrous intervention in Iraq, then that automatically means the Dems want to abandon the terra war.
what an asshole.
It’s so odd that they would even give a shit about a Democratic primary, goes to show how nervous they are.
August 9th, 2006 at 3:18 pmThese people are sick! Tony you are sick!
A real leader (FDR) once said, “So, first of all, let me assert my firm belief that the only thing we have to fear is fear itself—nameless, unreasoning, unjustified terror which paralyzes needed efforts to convert retreat into advance.”
These people in office “only thing we have to sell is fear itself—nameless, unreasoning, unjustified terror should paralyzes Americans efforts to think and be happy.”
August 9th, 2006 at 3:19 pmIt’s almost as if he is conceeding defeat in Nov. already, isn’t it?
August 9th, 2006 at 3:20 pmThe Lamont win over Lieberman is being spun by Tony Snowflake and the Bushies as a vote to “cut and run.” Those against the totalitarian and incompetent Bush Administration must reject the premise of Snowflake’s false dichotomy - the alternative to ending the Neocons strategy of imperial never-ending war and the misuse of our military does NOT mean that the alternative strategy is the Republican talking point of “cut and run.” Opponents of the Administration’s obviously failed strategy must counter with what the strategy in the controlling terrorism should be. Namely, opponents to the Neocon strategy must articulate a strategy based primarily on law enforcement and anti-insurgency campaigns that have worked in the past. Never does a standing occupying army win a battle of attrition with an insurgency based within a local population: Viet Nam, anyone?
August 9th, 2006 at 3:20 pmIt would be worring to, that a pro-war senator in a “safe” state was tossed out. What does this mean for all the republican senators?
August 9th, 2006 at 3:20 pmI never heard of Ned Lamont before a month or so ago. It’s amazing what money can do to enhance your image. Who’s to say how effective a Senator he will be - he has no resume to even peruse. We do know about Joe Lieberman-we don’t like everything about him but he is a fair and decent human being. Not to say, Lamont is the devil in disguise. His trck record is still to be run.
August 9th, 2006 at 3:20 pm“…ignore the difficulties and walk away.†That is the same approach, he said, that led Osama bin Laden to the conclusion “that Americans were weak and wouldn’t stay the course and that led to September 11th….â€
He’s talking about February to September 2001, right?
August 9th, 2006 at 3:20 pmI love the smell of Republican desperation in the morning.
August 9th, 2006 at 3:21 pmGee… Who was president in 1991?
Did Snow just accuse Dear Leader’s Daddy of responsibility for 9/11?
August 9th, 2006 at 3:21 pmI think the extent of Americans caring about this issue is outlined on the bottom of that image shown in the video, which reads (in partiality):
More than friends, Jennifer Anistan and Vince…
Since this is such compelling news, that it rates up there with a message from the white house, TP should be reporting this more thoroughly :p
August 9th, 2006 at 3:22 pm#23
August 9th, 2006 at 3:22 pmWatch for the white house and the rupugs to exploit the hell out of peoples fears of revisiting that day.
That has been my thoughts about the release of this movie - they will use it to fire up the old propaganda/fear machine.
There the ‘boss’s help’ Karl Rove promised…

#33 it is hard to imagine how things can get much worse with new faces, considering the present group in congress.
August 9th, 2006 at 3:24 pmLamont just won, Lieberman just lost, what’s a GOP to do??? Ahhh yes, the good ol’ Failsafe…..9/11!
9/11
August 9th, 2006 at 3:25 pm9/11
9/11
BOO!
The way to encourage more terrorism is Bushes method, Although you must understand Muslims in general do NOT do this kind of thing
WHAT BULLSHIT
August 9th, 2006 at 3:28 pm#35 - I agree. Ever since Pres. Bush failed to secure the Nation after repeated warnings, they’re getting even more desperate to paint everyone else as anti-American. “You gotta drin the kool-aide to be a good American!” Their failing on this front as well. More people are waking up to the nightmare that Regressive policies truly are.
Sorry fellas, but the McCarthy era aint coming back. Of course, this will cause more furrows of confusion as the Regressives lose seat after seat to Progressive candidates.
August 9th, 2006 at 3:28 pmNow, when the United States walked away, in the opinion of the Osama bin Laden in 1991, bin Laden drew from that the conclusion that Americans were weak and wouldn’t stay the course and that led to September 11th [2001].
Soooo, Connecticut can expect an attack by OBL in 2016?
August 9th, 2006 at 3:28 pmIs that what Snowflake is blubbering…?
Game Show PITCH:
August 9th, 2006 at 3:28 pmPremise:
The Republican Style Democracy Show- Contestants keep spinning the election wheel until they land on someone the (R) can OK and control. Thumbs up or down. The crowd yells “Democracy”& “Take our Gift” .The winner gets corporate mega $’s,trips,a get out of jail free card etc.
#29: Your posts are frequently incoherent, but I can’t make any sense out of this one at all. I understand that there’s some sort of straw man here (the whole “misunderstood barbarians” thing), but I don’t really get what you’re arguing.
#10: Mr. Snow, the well of “9/11 fear†is empty. The people can hear the bucket clanging at the bottom. You are looking ever more desperate and hateful.
Maybe not absolutely empty. But Lamont’s victory in Connecticut shows that mainstream Americans are beginning to see the emptiness of Bush’s policies and promises. The more Snow, Bush, and all the rest keep spouting this utter nonsense, the more people will continue to wake up.
August 9th, 2006 at 3:28 pmTone, stick around for a few minutes . . . the people of Connecticut are on their way to have a little chat.
August 9th, 2006 at 3:29 pmTerrorists are some of the cleverest people on earth if they want to terrorise you , You cannot stop them just like drug dealers,
change foreign policy first then theres no need for any terrorists
August 9th, 2006 at 3:30 pmI’m just wondering where the administration will drop the bomb. Look out Connecticut.
August 9th, 2006 at 3:32 pmI saw a suggestion that Congress should be paid by commisssions. When they do something right, they should get paid. It seems the only thing they do right lately is take vacation breaks. Hey, good salespeople work on commissions only and do well…maybe they could use a cash incentive to pass laws that their constituents want.
August 9th, 2006 at 3:34 pmOf course, this in tongue-in-cheek but those guys and gals on the hill better do a lot better next term out. With their report cards, they don’t deserve being voted in again.
#48: I agree the the Bushies’ so-called foriegn policy needs to change with respect to dealing with violent terrorism (which, I think we all agree, does exist). What would you change the failed Bush foriegn policy to? (See my comment at #31)
August 9th, 2006 at 3:34 pmAnother 911 will happen because the Bush admin will pull it off… AGAIN!!!! Then blame democrats for it. That will be 2 times on old GWB’s watch!!!!
August 9th, 2006 at 3:35 pm#46 tis best just to completely ignore that one. I’m relatively new here, but I’ve learned to read the user name first. Anything with M.A., I know will just cause massive migraines trying to understand, thus I completely by-pass it and look for real debate/insight

August 9th, 2006 at 3:41 pm
These idiots ALLOW 9/11 to happen on THEIR watch, then falsely ASSUME the Democrats will invite ANOTHER ONE?
That’s 100% ILLOGICAL.
When in fact, keeping the Repukes in power has done NOTHING but harvest terrorism WORLDWIDE.
All they all a bunch of Terry Schiavo’s?
August 9th, 2006 at 3:41 pmSorry how about this!
http://www.cnn.com/ 2006/ US/ 08/ 08/ dobbs.august9/ index.html
August 9th, 2006 at 3:42 pmWow, that didn’t take long. The Republicans will leverage this by painting Sen. Lieberman as a “Centrist” and anyone else as an “Angry Left Winger”. Sen. Lieberman cares only for staying in office and will gladly be the Republican Tool to have his seat held be A Republican candidate…
Nuts.
August 9th, 2006 at 3:42 pmI never heard of Ned Lamont before a month or so ago. It’s amazing what money can do to enhance your image. And reminds us again what political experience Bill Frist had prior to running for Congress in 1994?
I can answer that for you. Absolutely NONE. And he beat a 3-term incumbent.
And remind us again, Mr. Whatever, of the position in the Senate that Dear Mr. Frist currently holds?
For fun, per his web site bio:
Not bad for a nobody from Tennessee who had no political experience.
August 9th, 2006 at 3:42 pmHey Tony McSnowjob, White House spokes liar, America doesn’t buy into your Karl Rove lies anymore. We want out of Iraq which had nothing to do with 9/11. Joe Lieberman and Dubya were in office for the first one and they didn’t help stop it. Go lie to the deliverance wing of the GOP, they are stupid enough to buy your lies and bullshit.
Vote democrat and take our government back from these thieves, liars, and cowards. Neo-Nazis must go.
August 9th, 2006 at 3:42 pmOne thing that was interesting in watching Tony Snow today was that he kept talking about how the “far left wing” of the Democratic party was now (in his mind) in charge.
I didn’t see the whole thing. But in what I did see he kept calling all of us “left” “left-wing” and “far-left.”
What he didn’t call anyone was “Liberal.”
Could that be because the word “Liberal” is not thought by Rove and the gang to be insulting anymore?
If that’s the case, then in one meaningful way we’ve already started to win.
August 9th, 2006 at 3:43 pmWhat bullshit -
Fact: Mohamed Atta lived in HAMBURG, GERMANY before coming to the U.S. to execute the 9/11 plan.
Fact: He arrived via NEWARK AIRPORT from EUROPE.
Fact: The CIA says they monitored him in GERMANY.
Fact: Bombing the shit out of Iraq for 3 years prior to September of 2001 would have done nothing to stop Atta - because he and his group were not there.
Fact: If there is another group planning another 9/11 - they are probably smart enough not to be in Iraq either.
Lieberman has already seen how insulted the American people are with this type of bullsh#t - Snow and his crowd will find out next.
August 9th, 2006 at 3:43 pmThe Administration (not to mention Fox News) rushing to the aid of Lieberman is making it increasingly difficult for him to make himself out to be any sort of Democrat, even an “Independent Democrat.â€
Comment by Progressive Floridian — August 9, 2006 @ 3:00 pm
Lieberman’s allegiance is not to the Democratic party or even to the US. He’s an AIPAC shill that is primarily looking out for the interests of Israel.

August 9th, 2006 at 3:45 pmKeep it up Tony YellowSnow. Every time you open your mouth the Dems get free advertising, with an election coming up in say, 3 months.

*******Gerald, THANK YOU!!! You have confirmed through “talk therapy” that liberalism IS a mental disorder!! Note to Gerald: We ‘club them” because as 7th Century barbarians, THAT is what they understand. August 9th, 2006 at 3:47 pmMighty Aphrodite: What the hell are you doing sitting at your computer making comments on a website? Shouldnt you be out in the desert of Iraq fighting your emperor’s war? Or are you just as much a coward as the 27% of redneck yokels that still believe Bu$h?
August 9th, 2006 at 3:47 pmNed should smack him down…….but hard.
August 9th, 2006 at 3:48 pmSo then, if the majority of the American people believe that Bush/Repubs have mismanaged the War in Iraq and no longer constitute a positive force in handling terrorism, then Snow would agree that even Republicans should vote against all Republican incumbents to send the message.
August 9th, 2006 at 3:48 pmmighty aphrodite - liar, loser, fool and Cowardly jester of the blogosphere.
August 9th, 2006 at 3:48 pmTony Snow is a LIAR. That’s what they pay him for - lying.
You’d have to been functionally RETARDED to link Democrats and terrorist attacks after such a HORRIBLE response on 9/11 with a REPUBLICAN in the White House.
Pure NONSENSE.
And quit politicizing 9/11, WHORE-LIKE REPUBLICAN’TS.
You’ve paved your path to HELL by supporting your leaders “to hell with em” attitude.
Maybe by November the Dems will turn those Halliburton built “detainment” centers into housing for all the wingnuts, before they destroy the World. Or they could all move to the Green Zone. I hear it’s “fabulous”.
August 9th, 2006 at 3:49 pmYou know, a Democratic administration could NEVER have milked a major security screw up of their own as effectively as the Republicans have used 9/11. Someday, Karl Rove’s going to go down to the cave with chocolates, flowers and 77 specially selected Republican Committee virgins to tell OBL just how much he meant to him, because, man, they owe him.
August 9th, 2006 at 3:49 pm” We ‘club themâ€

August 9th, 2006 at 3:49 pmSounds to me like the Bush administration is threatening to destroy more skyscrapers (and people) if you don’t vote for them. Well, they did it before, they’ll do it again…

August 9th, 2006 at 3:52 pmIt’s time for the Washington press corps to play the same game Tony Snowjob is playing, and throw it all back in his face with this:
August 9th, 2006 at 3:52 pm“Tony, that sounds like the Fox News position”.
“Do you still work for Fox News?”
“Tony, can you stop giving us the Fox News spin and start answering our questions with non-partison honesty?”
“Tony, that kind of crap works over at Fox News. But most Americans are smart enough to see through your partisan bullshit. So give it a rest.”

August 9th, 2006 at 3:55 pmIts amazing how useful 911 has been for the cons. hmmmmmmmmm.
August 9th, 2006 at 3:55 pmRide the 9/11 hourse until it doesn’t run. The people that really run this country want to make damn sure the chicken littles are frozen with fear. It’s part of your job Tony. Milk that cow until it’s udders bleed!
August 9th, 2006 at 3:55 pmAnother 3 soldiers died today , because of Bush
August 9th, 2006 at 3:56 pmMe.
August 9th, 2006 at 3:56 pmSnow.
A dark alley.
This has come up before - how can the Bush administration, in the roles we taxpayers pay them to perform, legally use that perch to spout pro-Repug and anti-Dem rhetoric? How can Bush legally only appear at GOP-sponsored functions wherein non-GOP folks can be blocked from attendance (because the GOP rented the venue for a private function)?
Seriously - is it legal for elected officials to mix their taxpayer-funded roles with the political campaigning process to this degree? I thought there were pretty strict rules prohibiting Senators from using their offices for campaigning - if so, how can Snaow get a way with saying partisan things like this?
August 9th, 2006 at 3:56 pmAre you paranoid? Are you a coward? Do you think a terrorist lurks around every corner, waiting to pounce? Do you support the war, but fail to enlist? Do you call anyone who disagress with you a traitor? If so, the republican party needs you!
August 9th, 2006 at 3:57 pmHar har, MA is at it again! Is there such a thing as a douchette bag? ’cause it would fit her…or is it a he hiding behind tired old rhetoric?

DO NOT REINFORCE FAILURE !
August 9th, 2006 at 4:08 pmSnowFlake, you want to see examples of weakness on terrorism:
How many people have illegally crossed our borders since 9/11 with no oversight?
What percentage of cargo is inspected coming into this coutry from overseas?
Why is OBL still alive, and capable of plotting and teaching others?
Who has turned world opinion against the US?
Who was the “leader” who sat motionless in an elementary school chair for about 1/2 an
hour AFTER being told “America is under attack”?
What political part refuses to pass legislation to increase the protection of our domestic nuclear and chemical plants from terrorist attacks?
How battle ready is our current armed forces?
How many years after 9/11 and we still don’t have federal standards mandating that all emergency communication devices are interagency interoperable?
Which administration could care less about the nuclear build up between India and those equally crazy folks in Pakistan? ( No Oil, No Care)
What administration continues to leave us every more dependent on Middle Eastern sources of oil which is truly the root cause of this entire mess?
We could all go on, and on, and on….
SnowFlake and the GOP are so weak on protecting this country, you’d be right to say they are helping the terrorist.
August 9th, 2006 at 4:12 pmif it has been said along this thread before me, i do apologize.
he obvious just cant be stated enough…..
911 happened on Republican watch!
911 happened while Republicans were the majority in house, senate, and commander in chief!
911 happened because Republicans let it.
August 9th, 2006 at 4:12 pm9/11 happened on Bush/Cheney’s watch and there is nothing that they can do to to change that fact
They can blame Clinton, they can blame liberals, But they can’t hide from their record of failure in the war against terrorism
I am sick and tired of people questioning our patriotism for standing up and speaking out!
Bush/Cheney and all the other Republicans who hide themselves behind the tragedy of 9/11 have got to get their heads out there asses and wake up to reality! Their political blame game is only so loud because they know 9/11 WAS THEIR FAULT
If you Republicans really care about the war against terrorism, then how about implimenting the 9/11 Commission findings?
If you care about Security, then how about funding border security instead of obstructing it?
If you care about our troops, then stop hiding behind them
9/11 happened on the Republican watch, and global terrorism and extremism have increased significantly on your watch
If you want the American people to believe you have any credibility in the War against terrorism, then show us the results… otherwise shut up, step aside, and let some competent people do the job

Report: Rove offered Bush’s assistance in Lieberman campaign
RAW STORY
Published: Wednesday August 9, 2006
Karl Rove, a close advisor to the President, has expressed interest in assisting Connecticut Senator Joe Lieberman in retaining his seat, despite a loss in the Democratic Primary last night, ABC News has reported.
Rove was, according to the report, acting on behalf of President Bush.
George Stephanopoulos, writing for the World Newser blog at ABC, wrote that a Lieberman aide had shared with the news agency a message from the White House: “The boss wants to help. Whatever we can do, we will do.”

All these people seem to be putting War, Corruption Power in front of the people.
ORGANIZED HYPOCRISY!!!
August 9th, 2006 at 4:29 pmBush gives God a bad name.
August 9th, 2006 at 4:29 pmSnow said that Connecticut voters who backed Ned Lamont (and the 57 percent of Americans who support his position on Iraq) were choosing to “ignore the difficulties and walk away.â€
So, basically, Tony is saying that Bush/Cheney/Rummy/et al chose to “ignore the difficulties and walk away” when presented with facts about al Quaeda’s intent to attack the U.S. Nice.

No Lamont doesn’t have a track record. Lieberman on the other hand has arecord of supporting repugnacan policies that have roven to be harmful to the nation. Time and time again he supported failed ideas. If Lamont follows the same course he will have a short career. Being a kind and decent person doesn’t equal doing your job.
Speaking of turning away…where is Osama? How is it going in Afganistan? Mr. Snow your party has turned away from the real threats this country faces to pursue a failed, irresponsible policy in Iraq. From now on your name shall be Snowjob.
August 9th, 2006 at 4:37 pmWhat war on Terror? Reagan´s (Negroponte killing thousands in Central America and Rummy shaking hands with Saddam) or Bush´s (Killing thousands in Iraq, Afghanistan that had nothing to do with 9/11 whatsoever?
This only means one thing: They are scared and Im fearing another 9/11.
August 9th, 2006 at 4:37 pmIt’s all part of the We have no comment, but oh here is what we really think. Joe Liberman is like a cash cow athlete for a major university and Joe just failed all his classes, lost his eligibility and now the Alumni associations( Conservatives, et.al, who support the President’s foreign policy),want to blame the university. Now that’s principled.Elitist, arrogant, oligarchs, they just don’t get it do they.

How many people have illegally crossed our borders since 9/11 with no oversight?
And who’s bill on immigration is tougher on it? Clue: Its not the one supported by dems who want amnesty for illegals so they can become dem voters.
What percentage of cargo is inspected coming into this coutry from overseas?I think around 5% Would I like it to be higher? Yes.
Why is OBL still alive, and capable of plotting and teaching others? Because Clinton blew his chances of killing him while getting blown by Monica.
Who has turned world opinion against the US? Who cares? Since when did world opinion protect us from terrorism?
Who was the “leader†who sat motionless in an elementary school chair for about 1/2 an
hour AFTER being told “America is under attackâ€? I am sick of this bullshit. What was he supposed to do, run down the hall like a scared little girl. I think he took 7 minutes as he continued to read to the children, which I’m sure he was mentally planning his next moves. Get over it you morons.
What political part refuses to pass legislation to increase the protection of our domestic nuclear and chemical plants from terrorist attacks?
How battle ready is our current armed forces? Closer to readiness thanks to Bush and Rumsfeld. You should be asking who tried to dismantle the armed forces. Something tells me it wasn’t the current administration.
How many years after 9/11 and we still don’t have federal standards mandating that all emergency communication devices are interagency interoperable? Oh, are you referring to that wall that Gurelic built during the Clinton years?
Which administration could care less about the nuclear build up between India and those equally crazy folks in Pakistan? ( No Oil, No Care)

Since you invented it…of course, it was against russians (the Taliban), a peasant elected government in Nicaragua (contras), a socialist democratically elected government in Chile (Pinochet), an Iranian government (Saddam)…well, you name the terrorist threat and I will tell who once supported it.

No? Then which president was it that did ignored a dire warning about a terrorist attack?
It seems like some President ignored some briefing… I just can’t remember who?

sanity is a matter of perception. and just not relevent to the FACTS.
facts:
———-
911 happened on republican watch!
911 happened while Republicans were the majority in house, senate, and commander in chief!
911 happened because Republicans let it.
———-
what is relevent: that it might appear more people in this ’society’ view your comments as insane.
but i digress. here, let me repeat once more so you may understand - after all, there are studies that do show republicans are followers and sometimes slow at self thinking….
911 happened on republican watch!
911 happened while Republicans were the majority in house, senate, and commander in chief!
911 happened because Republicans let it.

August 9th, 2006 at 5:29 pmI think we can take the threats of another 9/11 from the Bushites at their word. They have been saying this for years and they are the ones who will exact punishment for anyone who goes against their agenda. They keep saying another 9/11 is coming and it will as soon as the tide turns against them. They guarantee it!
August 9th, 2006 at 5:32 pmI think he took 7 minutes as he continued to read to the children, which I’m sure he was mentally planning his next moves. comment by Randy
7 minutes for a children’s book?? Maybe Bush should do some more practice reading to get the speed up. Bush’s off-the-cuff, non-scripted remarks suggest that he has difficulty “mentally planning” his current move while doing nothing else. I doubt he can ride a bike and chew gum, eat a pretzel and tie his shoe, or read and think at the same time.

Tony, explain Bush’s inaction following the August 6, 2001 PDB. We know that invited bin Laden to stay the course on 9/11. While you are at it Tony, explain deep sixing the Hart-Rudman report that stressed an urgency for a series of defensive measures with a particular focus on airport security. I have been looking at MA’s post for the last couple of days. They have not been coherent enough for me to post a smart aleck comment, much less a rebuttal. Is MA having trouble with Adult Attention Deficit Disorder?
Like many of the rabid right wing, they see the end drawing near, and are getting increasingly hostile and irrational. It isn’t just MA, it is almost all of them. they know the shit is going to hit the fan, and are afraid of the splatter.

August 9th, 2006 at 7:12 pmFlighty Aphrodite is an airhead in need of oxygen. Bush was asleep for a month while on vacation. He and his inept “security advisor” ignored the warnings prior to the attack in New York. His incompetence and ignorance should have led to his immediate impeachment. No spin of any of you right wing apologists can excuse the fact that the dolt was in the White House, we were attacked on our own soil during his “watch” with great loss of life and then used his dereliction of duty to support his inane failed policies and programs. His incompetence and ignorance was again a factor in the Katrina tragedy. Always remember and never forget, “the constitution is nothing but a damned scrap of paper”! Anyone who supports this so-called president is aiding malfeasance and misfeasance in the highest office in the land.
August 9th, 2006 at 7:30 pmWhat a snow job ! 911 was bushes fiasco and in true rovian form its been held aloft as the main justification of for everything the project for the new American century has ever wanted . Rather than having made us safer, the transparently failed policies of pre emptive war , torture ,and mass murder of innocents in Iraq and Lebanon have brought us to the brink of a third world war .Our traditional alliances have been strained to the breaking point and the civil liberties we once valued have been pushed aside for our protection.
A burp in the worlds oil supplies from the middle east will make all ammenites here and abroad more costly ,which will adversely affect the worlds economies and seriously allienate the US from the rest of the planet .The threat of nuclear war remains a possibility ,as the mid easts oil reserves remain crucial to europe and the developing world .
Israel’s behavior ,encouraged primarily by the US ,is certainly bound to inflame hostilities in Iraq as it decends into civil war and convince Iran ,of what can be expected through co operation with the US . The democracies of Lebanon and Palestine ,hung out to dry ,are now defunct ,as the Shia rise to battle the obvious injustices of Bush foreign policies in the region .
Yeah if the democrats take control in November we’ll lose all this brilliant foreign policy thats made us so much safer when all branches of gov’t were controlled by the republicans .Vote brain dead in November !
