A spokesman for Rep. Jo Ann Davis, R-1st, said yesterday she is not
actively calling for the resignation of Secretary of Defense Donald
Rumsfeld. Chris Connolly, Davis’ chief of staff, said news reports
indicating she was calling for Rumsfeld’s resignation misconstrued her
comments. The Free Lance-Star published an Associated Press story Sunday on
Davis’ comments.
Davis had spoken last week to members of the Hampton Roads Chapter of
the American Society of Military Comptrollers.
In that speech, she said of Rumsfeld, “He’s probably a nice guy, but I
don’t think he’s a great secretary of defense.”
She also said the one thing she agreed with Sen. Hillary Clinton about
was Clinton’s call for Rumsfeld’s resignation. Connolly said that was meant
as a joke.
Connolly said Davis would not be sorry to see Rumsfeld go, but that
she’s not trying to make that happen.
“For years now, Jo Ann has not had any love lost with Secretary
Rumsfeld,” Connolly said. “She still feels strongly that there have been
some mistakes made. But she’s not actively seeking his resignation.”
Connolly said that from Davis’ perspective, she said nothing new at
the Hampton Roads speech and her doubtsabout Rumsfeld’s leadership in Iraq
have increased.
“As the war has gone on, and we look back and see things we should
have done differently, one of the things is to follow Gen. Shinseki’s
advice,” Connolly said, referring to Gen. Eric Shinseki, Army chief of
staff before the war He said publicly that far more ground troops were
needed in Iraq. Rumsfeld fired him in 2003.

hmmmm… seems mr. hodges has interjected some kind of false information, and a bit of opinion?, into that article… hmmm…

Davis was shown intelligence that said there were weapons of mass destruction in Iraq and that Iraq had contributed to the efforts of the terrorists who flew airplanes into the World Trade Center in New York and the Pentagon in Virginia.

Hasn’t Bush repeatedly said that neither he nor anyone else in his administration has ever indicated Iraq was involved?

Except for the ones “stuck in the hold” by their continued support for War Prez. Those rats will smell the scummy bilge and try to stay dry by taking ever-loftier rhetorical positions – until the end of October when the electoral water’s above their heads. Then they’ll bite and claw each other trying to survive, paniced because the “base” isn’t large enough to support them all, or save them from political demise.

I would imagine that there will be a lot of this type of stuff happening between now and election time.

The republicans were caught trying to take credit for foiling the latest terrorist plot. The politicians in Britain didn’t even take credit. They gave all the credit to the people responsible for stopping the attacks, the police and intelligence agents that did the work. The world saw the republicans try and take credit for this win and the world said “WTF?”

Bush’s bullsh!t is being seen as what it is and it is starting to be published for what it is. Things are looking up.

The Bush/Coulter Republican Party is beginning to act like losers and now they are hanging out with losers.

The least you republicans can do is once our babies are home, is pass a law where they can buy a beer.

Don Rumsfeld is the face of Bush’s failure in Iraq–if he is forced out–that failure falls right into Bush’s lap–where it should be today. Rumsfeld is such on old, out of touch hack I honestly believe he thinks things are “OK” in Iraq. It seems fine every time he sneaks in and out of the Green Zone to see how many flavors of ice cream they have there.
