Report: Israel to end war 7AM Monday.
“Israel, meanwhile, flew hundreds of commandos into southern Lebanon on Saturday, tripling its troop strength to 30,000 and sending some army units as far as the Litani River even as both sides indicated they would accept a U.N. cease-fire plan to stop the heavy fighting,” the AP reports.

AND the rockets keep firing across into Israel, and innocent people on both sides continue to die for no good reason. Israel will not “wipe out Hezbollah” before some arbitrary Monady 7AM deadline so as expected hezbollah wins. You can’t fight terrorists with military action, they go into the woodwork and hide and come out after you leave, and they kill more people.

Well now it’s time for the United States to help pay for the rebuilding of Israel. Our Congress has to pass a bill that will allow the rebuilding of the damage done by Lebanon. As for Lebanon well their on their own. America supports Israel and what ever they need to put things back to where they were is what has to be done. Now it’s a good friend. Although it is tempting to retreat from debate and take care of yourself, I believe that the Republicans are actually winning, in spite of the left generated public opinion polls, which are always dismissed after the Republican wins the election. John Bolton is pounding the UN, forcing it to work the way it should, as witnessed by the UN being forced to disarm Hezbollah with 15,000 troops, and not mere finger wagging. Afghanistan and Iraq are still free democratic nation, in spite of some violence, with 10’s of millions of their citizens voting for the first time.
I am far more hopeful that the extreme measures of progs and libs are further moving the Democratic Party out of the mainstream. The only people that progressive candidates can beat are incumbent Democrats, which isn’t saying much, since they haven’t held federal power this century.

As Condoleeza Rice said, if you don’t have the right conditions in a cease fire, it will only lead to more deaths later on. This cease fire resolution will put both Lebanese and UN troops in southern Lebanon to disarm Hezbollah per a previous UN resolution, so THIS cease fire is the right approach to remove the root cause of the problem.

Exactly right. We have been conditioned to demonize and objectify the “enemy” to enable us to unconsciously think of “it” as a dangerous beast that must be killed. That kind of training enables our kids from good Christian families kill the “enemy” without any moral hang-ups. I don’t care who you are, murder is never easy and always very traumatic. That is where these terms like “Charlie” and “Hajji” come from.
All this nonsense about a WWIII, a Muslim Caliphate, a Shia Crescent, Rule of Islam all over the world, a mega beast called Al Qaeda etc comes from. The powers that be want us to think of the “enemy” as a single monolithic army. Once that happens, it is very easy to convince the population that this huge monster must be killed.
Nothing about this one single huge enemy is real. The Hezbollah, the Palestinians, Bin Laden and the Iraqis all have separate distinct problems with us and their own reasons for fighting us. To win this thing we have to address each problem separately and trying to killing all Muslims, even if THAT was possible, is the wrong and suicidal thing to do.

Since America helped Afghanistan and Iraq become Democracies, the single greatest cause – disenfrachisement within oppressive regimes – is gone. Libya gave up their nuclear program. Syria has pulled out of Lebanon, and Hezbollah is going to be suppressed by 15,000 UN troops.
These things should spark hopes within the youth of the region, not dispair.

Predictably, the UN will come in, Israel will feign interest in another round of the now amusing “Peace Process”, which it will surely find a way to wiggle out of by making outrageously unrealistic disarmament demands of Hezbollah, as it did with Hamas. Next, they will find some way to provoke their neighbors and continue their putsch into other soverign countries in the ME. It is now clear for the world to see that Israel does not truly want peace, and hopefully, their hunger for eternal war and bloodshed will be granted in a big way, soon. I am optimistic that the Lebanese people are resolute and strong enough to promptly begin to begin the enormous task of rebuilding their lives and cities, as a show of defiance to the restlessly belligerent goliath in their midst.
