Allegations of recruiting violations—in today’s up and up military? Well, don’t you believe a word of it. We’re talking here THE U.S. MILITARY! Run by that true blue Donald Rumsfeld, our Secretary of Defense. Do you think that Rumsfeld is so incompetent that he couldn’t inspire young men in droves to join up? That these same young men are avoiding recruitment because we, The Righteous, are fighting a holy war against terrorism? That don’t make no sense. To state that premise you’ll have believe that there’s something wrong with Rumsfeld and President Bush. No way, man. Don’t you see that George W. Bush was chosen by God to start this war in the Middle East in order to get back at those who hit us on 9/11? Those Middle Easterners gotta grovel before us, because our president is better than theirs, our God is better than theirs or else they wouldn’t be suffering like hell at our hand. So you see it’s that simple: those allegations of recruiting violations are lies. If they were true than Bush and Rumsfeld are the liars, the fakers. Now you see my point.

The US government was closely involved in planning the Israeli campaign in Lebanon, even before Hizbullah seized two Israeli soldiers in a cross border raids in July. American and Israeli officials met in the spring, discussing plans on how to tackle Hizbullah, according to a report published yesterday.
The veteran investigative journalist Seymour Hersh writes in the current issue of the New Yorker magazine that Israeli government officials travelled to the US in May to share plans for attacking Hizbullah.
Quoting a US government consultant, Hersh said: “Earlier this summer … several Israeli officials visited Washington, separately, ‘to get a green light for the bombing operation and to find out how much the United States would bear’.”
The Israeli action, current and former government officials told Hersh, chimed with the Bush administration’s desire to reduce the threat of possible Hizbullah retaliation against Israel should the US launch a military strike against Iran.
“A successful Israeli Air Force bombing campaign … could ease Israel’s security concerns and also serve as a prelude to a potential American pre-emptive attack to destroy Iran’s nuclear installations,” sources told Hersh.
Yesterday Mr Hersh told CNN: “July was a pretext for a major offensive that had been in the works for a long time. Israel’s attack was going to be a model for the attack they really want to do. They really want to go after Iran.”
An unnamed Pentagon consultant told Hersh: “It was our intention to have Hizbullah diminished and now we have someone else doing it.”
Officials from the state department and the Pentagon denied the report. A spokesman for the National Security Council told Hersh that “The Israeli government gave no official in Washington any reason to believe that Israel was planning to attack.”

Clyde the ripper is banned? CtR has his own web site, but it is mostly Bush-bashing stuff – does that violate the terms?
Sharon is banned?
They have been posting here a long time – there must be something wrong – or a mistake.
Very frequently, I am unable to post (http error messages) and I have to sign off and sign on a couple of times – trying to get past the TP spam filter – very frustrating. Could they be having similar problems?
If the trolls were having that much trouble, maybe they’d go away.
A lot relative to what? The problem should be addressed. But let’s not blow this out of proportion. There were not 6,000 substiated cases. Only 600. Anybody can make an allegation.
If Clyde believes he is certainly banned and not a victim of technology, perhaps he can write to them via Email, at the center for american progress.org.

I try not to post links directly because of that – I will refer to the source and people can look it up. Although sometimes, I will post a link as a test.
Frankly, however, I can find no rhyme nor reason, no pattern, nor cue that causes the little http bugger to prevent posts.
Any recruiting violation is a problem. It’s just not as big a problem as that headline made it out to be. Out of 6,000 allegations, only 600 were substantiated.
He is the sweetest man, and there is no reason for this.
He just wrote me to tell me he has severed the connection between his name and the web site. All he wants is to post again.
Please, who(m?)ever reads this,
Write TP and tell them to fix this!
Only 600. Anybody can make an allegation.

See my link @ #14. It’s one too many. 600 is 600 too many. Why are you defending these screw ups? Recruiters are trained in doing their jobs. They know what they’re doing when they do it right, and when they do it wrong. I’m done.
It’s one too many. 600 is 600 too many. Why are you defending these screw ups?
I agree that it’s one too many. Any violation is a problem and needs to be addressed. But the headline of this article made the problem sound much worse than it really was. I believe in being fair, especially to our men and women in the armed forces.
MrB
Violations in recruiting should not be excused in your cavalier manner. Young and vulnerable people are being deceived; it is immoral and illegal, regardless that it has always been practiced; it is practiced to an unprecedented extent today.
With enlistment numbers down and more warm bodies needed, it is surely tempting recruiters to entice more people with less than truthful promises.
When lives are at stake, this is nothing to take lightly.
Bush&Co continue to reduce the number of recruits needed each month so as to make their recruitment levels look less pitiable.
They have also reduced their standards as well as raised the enlistment age. Soon, they will be adding Depends to the uniforms.
Please, absolutely E-mail TP. If that is their problem I have no problem. The link will be gone. In a separate comment you may tell the world and all our friends there that my eyes are sweating. I know it is just from the Arizona heat. We love you all! Thanks for all your support and being the great people you are. We shall overcome! We shall be proud to be Americans, again.

Violations in recruiting should not be excused in your cavalier manner.
I was not excusing the violations. I was merely pointing out that out of 6,000 allegations, only 600 were substiated. 90% of the allegations had no merit.
I agree. I just wish some of the people in this thread thought the same way. They seem to be saying an allegation should be treated as fact in every case. 90% of the allegations had no merit.
Hi Juan,
(It’s still Zooey…)
Google Norma Rae.
She fought for the rights of her co-workers by trying to start a union.
They (the corporation) said she couldn’t talk about union to anyone, so she stood up on the lunchroom table with a big sign reading: UNION. She didn’t like injustice, just like I dislike injustice.
TP better start listening…..
So, how are you?

My problem with unions is that some force people to join them or to support them financially. I support Right to Work laws so it’s not mandatory to join a union.
True Blue, getting yourself banned from this site is not the right way to go about bringing back your friend, in my opinion. If you are banned from this site, you are going to regret it. There is going to be a topic that you will want to talk about, but you won’t be able to. Just my two cents.

True. That’s great. But unfortunatly some states do not have Right to Work laws and it’s mandatory that you either join a union or pay dues to have a particular job. I’m personally against that. Especially since some of those dues go to political candidates that I would never support.
I get all misty eyed. EVERYTIME. Still.

I do not celebrate what happened. BUt it has happened in a lot of places produced by US forces, and not a word about that. People is really emotional about this topic. The worst thing besides not knowing the truth is to know the truth.
Raise your hand who thinks that governments care about its own people.
I think the US goverment does. Under Bush, Clinton, anybody. I think any president does what he (or she someday, Condie Rice?) thinks is best for the American people.

With all due respect, now that we are friends :), thats the same as to say nothing. Its like an assassin or rapist saying: well, I thought that a cold, sharp knife on his back was what he needed.
My 12-year-old son keeps getting recruitment notices from ALL BRANCHES OF THE MILITARY….and I keep ripping them up and throwing them away…I didn’t think I needed to op him out yet because he is only 12!!!!!!!
I disagree – I think Bush is doing what he thinks is good for him and his friends. He and his party have been determined to eliminate the middle class and they are well on their way.
They are the party of the haves and the have mores – his own words.
They are the party of I got mine, go get your own. Forgetting that they got theirs through unearned birthright and it’s pretty damn hard for the average two paycheck, two children household to make all the bills every month.
They are the party of reward the wealthy with more breaks, while breaking the middle class and the poor.
Just today I read where they are cutting the aid to hospitals and nursing homes for the poor even more , placing greater burden on the states, who have less help from the feds, so they are creating a downward spiral.
Don’t kid yourselves, guys, Bush is not compassionate, he is not looking out for you; he is looking out for number one. He has never done otherwise.
Well, my fun is over.
MinBlue just had an “aura”. (It’s a simple seizure.) She has “complex-partial epilepsy, which means the “aura” can go hog wild into a full blown seizure (not grand mal’s).
She’s now in my bed, and I must comfort her.
Good-night, TP.
And long live Clyde the Ripper!
Talk to you tomorrow…
So was the Emperor in Star Wars. Sure you can call him evil, but noone sees the lives that were saved by his policies. The trade wars were stopped. the general Joe on the street lived a good life. The real people hurt were those like the smugglers, selling their spice to kids, the people who wanted more than their share etc. The Empire provided all that was required. The rebels blew up the second Death Star, think of all of the independant contractors on there. People making a fair wage just going to work, when Lando and his buddies killed them.
There Zoo!
I know most people on here think Bush is planning a take over. I think he is simply saying I have to do this to protect people. Some others in Government may have that mentality, I just don’t THINK (Opinion noted) Bush has it in him.
I didn’t think I needed to op him out yet because he is only 12!!!!!!!
Comment by madashell
Just this, and then I’m off the computer.
madashell,
My son and I cured the recruiter problem and here’s how we did it: My son has loose ligaments, and his left shoulder can dislocate almost at will, so he’s not recruitment material, not that he wanted to be anyway. My son telling the recruiters about his shoulder did no good, just as pretending to be gay, syaing he was a bedwetter, etc.
So one day, the last recruiter called. I picked up the phone, and I asked him very nicely if being able to dislocate my son’s shoulder just by pulling on it would be enough to make him stop calling. He stammered and said, probably. I said, good, because I’m pulling it out. I pretended to put down the phone, gave Zoo Jr the high sign, and he started screaming like mad. I got back on the phone, and the recruiter was gone. Go figure…
Also, as soon as my daughter turned 18 the calls kept coming. My nephew answered the phone one time and when they asked to talk to her, he asked what it was about. And then they asked again, and he said ABSOLUTELY NOT! Guess what – they stopped calling!
Whos James? Remember Zoo, I have an IQ of 80 while you can post a good conversation in 2 threads.
Comment by Juan C
80? Ha! James is James Risser, he’s been banned since he posted a bunch of stuff around the beginning of the Israel/Lebanon war. (Is it a war? I don’t know, it feels like a war to me.)
He’s been sneaking back in various disguises since then. I spot him and say, Hi j!
Anyone who joins the military now is foolish, or desperate because unable to find employment, but desperation can lead to being used as cannon fodder in Iraq for Bush!
300 soldiers made it home safe to American soil today after making it to the end of their tours of duty. Of course they never got past Alaska, before the Pentagon turned them right back around and sent them back to Iraq for another 120 day tour.
“Anyone who joins the military now is foolish, or desperate because unable to find employment, but desperation can lead to being used as cannon fodder in Iraq for Bush!†Comment by Jay Randal
Exactly when are the LLL Mo0b@+5 going to stop believing their propaganda bullshit? All the services exceeded recruiting goals for the last PY. I know Jay think that everybody who joins up is “desperate or foolish†but I doubt jay has ever met someone wearing a uniform. I wonder how many dumb desperate foolish recruits it takes to fly an Apache helicopter, drive an Abrams tank, or repair a Jet engine. Apparently they found enough of them for the next year. How about this Jay: you go take the military entrance exam and see if you qualify for military service. If they are so desperate you probably qualify for immediate commissioning as a General with your in-depth military knowledge. After you are commissioned you can just lead a military coup. Those poor misguided, undereducated masses in uniform will undoubtedly follow you based on your superior intellect. Good luck and god speed.
I’s very odd that Mr Big would say that out of 6,000 complaints only 600 had merit!
Mert???
To whose definition does that apply?
Was BUSH’s war founded on merit? Or was that innuendo?
The mere fact that there was a complain, solidified the basis of the complaint. Therefore, the complain (not withstanding) has some plausible standard for implementation…
And (just so YOU know, Mr B) the ones that were seen as meritless, we (in fact) valid, but they were dismissed when the contracts were voided to avoid prosecution and an embarrassing trial about the failure to meet recruting goals again!!!
Meritless, depends on a point of view, which is what BUSH has been doing everytime he peeks at his approval rating!
I’m NOT at ZERO, so I guess that I am doing okay as Governor of the United States???
Sen. George Allen (R-East Jesus) calls some guy a Surrender Macaca and we get recruiting violations? SNAP OUT OF IT TP!

Very interesting. The rerun in the midwest is at 11pm
Or will they come with their tired talking BS that we are hurting the moral of the troops???
I won’t say that. But, out of 6,000 allegations, only 600 were substantiated.

August 14th, 2006 at 10:35 pmClyde the ripper is banned?

August 14th, 2006 at 10:46 pmI try not to post links directly because of that – I will refer to the source and people can look it up. Although sometimes, I will post a link as a test.
Frankly, however, I can find no rhyme nor reason, no pattern, nor cue that causes the little http bugger to prevent posts.
Its still a problem.
Any recruiting violation is a problem. It’s just not as big a problem as that headline made it out to be. Out of 6,000 allegations, only 600 were substantiated.

August 14th, 2006 at 10:57 pmViolations in recruiting should not be excused in your cavalier manner.
Thank you, Juan! I appreciate it.

August 14th, 2006 at 11:06 pmHi Juan,
(It’s still Zooey…)
Google Norma Rae.
She fought for the rights of her co-workers by trying to start a union.
They (the corporation) said she couldn’t talk about union to anyone, so she stood up on the lunchroom table with a big sign reading: UNION. She didn’t like injustice, just like I dislike injustice.

My problem with unions is that some force people to join them or to support them financially. I support Right to Work laws so it’s not mandatory to join a union.

True. That’s great. But unfortunatly some states do not have Right to Work laws and it’s mandatory that you either join a union or pay dues to have a particular job. I’m personally against that. Especially since some of those dues go to political candidates that I would never support.

August 14th, 2006 at 11:47 pmI disagree – I think Bush is doing what he thinks is good for him and his friends. He and his party have been determined to eliminate the middle class and they are well on their way.
August 14th, 2006 at 11:48 pmThey are the party of the haves and the have mores – his own words.

August 14th, 2006 at 11:53 pmBush is doing what he feels is best.

Go figure…

August 15th, 2006 at 12:27 amWhos James? Remember Zoo, I have an IQ of 80 while you can post a good conversation in 2 threads.

80? Ha! James is James Risser, he’s been banned since he posted a bunch of stuff around the beginning of the Israel/Lebanon war. (Is it a war? I don’t know, it feels like a war to me.)
He’s been sneaking back in various disguises since then. I spot him and say, Hi j!
August 15th, 2006 at 12:30 amJuan, there is an opt out form the parents can fill out, and they will not be put on any recruitment list.
August 15th, 2006 at 12:30 amDidn’t I say I was going? I guess I better do it, then!
Goodnight all!

August 15th, 2006 at 12:35 amCant one just fill that one from the very beginning and save a lot of bilis? Or they keep pushing?
Bye, zoo. Be well.
August 15th, 2006 at 12:36 amOne sincere question. Can the family or the kid just say no? And thats it?
No, They can go in before 18 with permission, but once they are 18 they can make their own decission.
August 15th, 2006 at 12:37 amOk. Thanks guys. Im off. I should be in the fourth dream, but you know how it is. Take care all of you. Demand peace, always.
August 15th, 2006 at 12:41 amAnyone who joins the military now is foolish, or desperate because unable to find employment, but desperation can lead to being used as cannon fodder in Iraq for Bush!
August 15th, 2006 at 12:46 amThe draft is just a whisper away. Shhhh. Can you hear it?
August 15th, 2006 at 1:03 am300 soldiers made it home safe to American soil today after making it to the end of their tours of duty. Of course they never got past Alaska, before the Pentagon turned them right back around and sent them back to Iraq for another 120 day tour.
Lucky guys.

We are going to need a lot of troops, damn the methods! (And a lot of bodybags, I’d guess.)

August 15th, 2006 at 1:04 pmExactly when are the LLL Mo0b@+5 going to stop believing their propaganda bullshit?
