How low can Emperor Bush go? And why haven’t We The People stormed the gates and have him bodily removed into exile or hauled up before the World Court?

  18. e_five says:

If George W. Bush appeared on national television, and suddenly killed and ate a disabled child in a wheelchair he would still have an approval rating above 32%. The Right Wing blogosphere would call him a hero for killing a “potential terrorist.” The Department of Homeland Security would raise the terror threat level to High, remarking that al Qaeda planned to use disabled people and pregnant women as suicide bombers.

  19. DieNowForPeace says:

    Comment by Mr. Big

Exactly, and the voters will correct the current Administrations failures this November. The truth is out, and the Repukes are losing the war on terror by NOT CAPTURING Bin Laden, by NOT protecting our skies or our ports, and by NOT creating a version of Democracy (i.e. don’t elect the terrorists?!) that suits them.

    Three strikes, and your out.

That’s not the way the American people see it. According to the polls, Bush gets good marks on handling terrorism.

  23. Mr. Big says:

Exactly, and the voters will correct the current Administrations failures this November.

That would be a mistake. Democrats should run on the issues that favor them: education, the enviornment, healthcare. They shouldn’t run the 2006 campaigns on Bush’s strength, terrorism. That’s suicide. They are getting shnookered by Rove — again. But I love it.

I wanted to make sure the Think Progress Community were made aware of a blogger conference to be held in New Orleans

    Are conservatives allowed?

  28. Mr. Big says:

#25, as many as 55% of Americans in one poll approve of the way Bush is handling terrorism. There’s no doubt about it that this is his strong suit. And the fact that there has been no further attacks on our soil since 9/11 is a success. As I pointed out to you in another thread, the 9/11 Commission concluded that we are a safer country, but not yet safe.

  29. DRxJ says:

Bush’s Strength…Terrorism. You mean, the strength of completely ignoring the PDB in August ‘01 all but declaring that OBL was set to use commercial planes against the USA. You mean, the strength to sit stone faced, the “deer in the headlights” look, for a full seven friggin’ minutes while our country was under attack. You mean, the strength to yell out a bullhorn at ground zero., “and the people who made these buildings fall will hear from us!”, but has yet to capture OBL (In fact, doesn’t even think about him anymore). You mean, the strength to play guitar while a portion of our country basically drowned in a natural disaster.

Yep, those are some good strengths to vote for!

  30. Mr. Big says:

DRxj, you’ve obviously seen Micheal Moore’s movie, Farenhiet 9/11. I’ve seen it too, and it makes those same charges.

Bush has an approval rating on handling terrorism in the 50’s. Yes, that is his strength. People trust him, more than the Democrats to handle the issue. Terrorism is the most important issue facing this country today.

  31. DRxJ says:

    what charges? I’m stating facts.

  32. Wilco says:

Big, Bush isn’t running for president again.
The Dems, however, poll really well against the Reps in handling terrorism.
And terrorism isn’t the big issue. It’s the war in Iraq.

    Comment by Mr. Big — August 15, 2006 @ 12:43 pm

With the wall to wall Orwellian propaganda the American people are relentlessly subject to, it’s an indictment he’s not in the mid 80’s. Thank God for the internet I guess.

  34. Jay Randal says:

NO Mr. Big > the most important issue for Americans today is JOBS > the economy is on the verge of complete collapse! Terrorism fears does NOT put food on the table for Americans, nor does it pay their electic bills, nor anything else! Bush is a vile despotic fool!

  35. Brian Coughlan says:

For those of you still in terror, grow up and snap out of it. For those of you advocating a “final solution” for the middle east, shame on you.

Add up all the little bands of anti-American terrorists. They can’t invade America. Or any of your allies for that matter. Or anyone. They can’t hurt your economy — unless cowards in government let them. The only thing they can do is try to get in another sucker punch sometime. And yeah, it will hurt. But your country, your traditions, your future have nothing to fear.

Please, please get rid of the Republicans they are wrecking the planet.

  36. Mr. Big says:

the most important issue for Americans today is JOBS > the economy is on the verge of complete collapse!

And yet the unemployment rate is 4.6%, which is better than the average of the 70’s, 80’s and 90’s. The sky is falling!

  37. Jesus Christ God of WAR says:

    #31 – Right on!

In fact, take a look at http://www.pollingreport.com/prioriti.htm and you’ll see from a Harris pole that the number one priority for folks is indeed the occupation of Iraq, followed by the economy, and then way down in the number 9 (count ‘um, 9!) position is terrorism.

RiechWingNuts should have an interesting explaining the November elections if the landslide goes to the Dems. What will Rethuglicans do then? Do as their fear-inducing leader has done? Lawyer up???

    Comment by Mr. Big — August 15, 2006 @ 12:53 pm

Yeah, that says it all really.

The US government is largely made up of incompetent, amoral assholes, the supporting evidence for this contention is overwhelming. Yet 30-40% of the population persist in providing their support to these people. The cognitive disconnect that allows this, in otherwise normal people, is widened and nourished by fervent religious belief.

You guys need to get some serious electoral reform to sort that out.

  45. Jay Randal says:

LOL Mr. Big > the unemployment figure you post is a fallacy spewed out by the Bush Regime > actual unemployed is about 10% nationwide and in some places as high as 25%! The economy is on the verge of collapse, but you do not notice it yet, because GOP members only care about themselves, so as long as they are OK it’s screw everybody else!

  46. Mr. Big says:

    actual unemployed is about 10%

Maybe where you live, but the actual unemployment rate in this country is only 4.6%.

  47. DRxJ says:

If I remember correctly, didn’t they (the administration) change the formulation for “unemployment”?

  48. Skeptic says:

    Mr. Big;
Can you give a reference to where you saw that Bush’s approval rating on Terrorism is in the 50’s? I would like to see if there is an article wurrounding that number.

  49. Mr. Big says:

The US government is largely made up of incompetent, amoral assholes

Yeah, and they have a (D) after their names. heh.

  50. Wilco says:

Big, you seem misinformed. Many people employed full time are on welfare. You know this. And people who work at Walmart don’t have medical insurance thru them, and personal insurance can cost one person hundreds of dollars each month. Wages haven’t even kept up with inflation, and I won’t even start on the minimum wage. Sure people are working, but they are making less money, when costs are up. But, I”m glad someone here is thrilled to be paying $3/gallon at the pumps when they were just over $1/gallon when Bush took office.

  51. Brian Coughlan says:

The US government is largely made up of incompetent, amoral assholes

Yeah. Hilarious, if not for the decade long disconnect from reality.

  52. Jesus Christ God of WAR says:

#40 – …and then way down in the number 9 (count ‘um, 9!) position is terrorism.

Looks like the majority are not as readily spooked as Mr. “Big”.

What is very bizarre about the ReichWingNut mind is that they DO NOT understand that they are more likely to be killed by anthrax than they are from a terrorist attack… they are more likely to be killed by lightning than they are by anthrax… and… they are more likely to hit the lottery than they are likely to be killed by lightning!

Hello?! Is it any wonder why people with 1/2 a thinking brain know the Bush Cabal for the fools they really are?

  53. Mr. Big says:

So, I take it that you don’t agree with the standard Karl Rove procedure which is to attack your opponent on his strength.

I don’t agree with that strategy. Democrats need to be attacked on their weakness in the War on Terror. That they would weaken the tools that can be used in fighting terrorism (Patriot Act, NSA surveliance), and that they would cut and run.

  54. Jay Randal says:

LOL Mr. Big you are foolish, because that 4.6% is a proven fallacy! When the economy collapses completely, I do hope you are one of the first ones standing in a bread line, or sitting in a soup kitchen!

  55. Jesus Christ God of WAR says:

#54 – …Democrats need to be attacked on their weakness in the War on Terror…

I assume you heard of Project Bojinka. Right? Then you know what the Clinton Administration put a stop to an effort of equal magnitude to what the Brits just uncovered. Right? That’s right, the Dems put a stop to a major airline attack. And did they trumpet this all over the media? No! They just did their job and kept us safe.

You can’t say the same thing for the Bush Cabal. And thinking Americans know it!

  56. Wilco says:

    And thinking Americans know it!

Sadly, there are too few of those.

  57. Mr. Big says:

When the economy collapses completely, I do hope you are one of the first ones standing in a bread line, or sitting in a soup kitchen!

When’s that gonna be? When the Dems raise taxes again?

  58. DRxJ says:

Sadly, there are too few of those.

    Comment by Wilco

Well, we’ve got 63% actually using their brain cells, and not following the ditto heads of America

  59. Bill Selznick says:

    It Is All About 9/11

We should let the GOP do 1/2 of our job for us. I agree with them, the next election is all about 9/11 and who do you trust to provide for our security. Since 9/11 the Republican White House and Republican controlled congress has done the following:

    1. Failed to protect our borders, F
    2. Failed to protect our biological plants, F.
    3. Failed to protect our nuclear plants, F.
    4. Failed to protect our chemical plants, F.
    5. Failed to provide improved emergency communications, as prescribed by 9/11 Commission, F.
    6. Failed to implement an effective TSA, $ for porn, $ for furniture, $ for plama TVs, but no $ for bomb screening equip, F.
    7. Failed to prosecute terrorist, F
    8. Failed to erradicate Taliban, hell they’re not even on the terrorist list, FFFF.

I could go on until my fingers bleed. Let’s talk about 9/11 and what a total failure this administration has been.

Let’s be very clear, the Republicans are far to busy sucking money out of our governement to be concerned with out protection. No one should ever confulse the strength of our defenses with a lack of any offensive campaign by OBL and company. He’s alive and capable of planning, as well as training, as he’s proved to be very patient in the past.

  60. PLC (PatrioticLiberalChristian) says:

And the fact that there has been no further attacks on our soil since 9/11 is a success comment by Mr. Big
Since American planes and passengers were the apparent target of the terrorist plot in England, we now see the goal posts of “success” moved…again.

they would weaken the tools that can be used in fighting terrorism (Patriot Act, NSA surveliance), and that they would cut and run. comment by Mr. Big

Actually, we want to weaken the BushCo tools used in fighting political opponents and the Constitution. NSA surveillance with oversight is fine.

  61. Mr. Big says:

I assume you heard of Project Bojinka. Right? Then you know what the Clinton Administration put a stop to an effort of equal magnitude to what the Brits just uncovered. Right?

Clinton deserves credit for foiling that plot in the Phillipeans. But the problem is that this isn’t Bill Clinton’s party anymore. He was a moderate. The crazy liberals taking over the Democrat party, are miles away from where Clinton stood politically. There’s no way I would trust somebody like Ned Lamont or Howard Dean to handle national security.

  62. Wilco says:

I was referring to people on both sides, actually.

  63. Ed says:

#29: People trust [Bush], more than the Democrats to handle the issue [terrorism].

Actually, this is false. Recent polls give Democrats a small advantage in this area. A majority of Americans understand that insisting on Congressional oversight and sane foreign policy is not a sign of “weakness.”

  64. Mr. Big says:

Mr. Big, as a Bush supporter, what accomplishments are you most proud of after 6 years?

    Keeping taxes low.

Appointing Alito and Roberts to the Supreme Court.

Protecting the nation from further terrorists attacks.

  65. Brian Coughlan says:

The crazy liberals taking over the Democrat party, are miles away from where Clinton stood politically. There’s no way I would trust somebody like Ned Lamont or Howard Dean to handle national security.

I see you got the talking point memo, unhappily for you, so did we. Anyone that makes such an obvious and unbalanced comment is classed as “troll” and all credibility is removed. You might just as well stop posting, unless your purpose is simply to annoy?

You’ve certainly lost all chance of a dialouge:-(

  66. Ed says:

#62: The crazy liberals taking over the Democrat party, are miles away from where Clinton stood politically. There’s no way I would trust somebody like Ned Lamont or Howard Dean to handle national security.

Apparently you haven’t been reading the news lately. Bill Clinton recently made a statement in support of Ned Lamont’s view on national security, blasting Lieberman for supporting the Bush-Cheney-Rumsfeld approach.

Ned Lamont’s view on Iraq is consistent with the majority of Americans, who want U.S. troops to withdraw from Iraq in the next 12 months. This is hardly an extremist position.

  67. Jesus Christ God of WAR says:

#62 – I assume you heard of Project Bojinka. Right? Then you know what the Clinton Administration put a stop to an effort of equal magnitude to what the Brits just uncovered. Right?

Will wonders never cease. Of course the Clinton Administration deserves credit for being strong on terrorism!

It is YOUR side the dropped the ball. It is YOUR side that refused to listen to the Dems on UBL being a threat when Emperor George took office! It is YOUR side that started spying on US citizens in clear violation of the Constitution and law! It is YOUR side who bungled their way into Iraq on false pretenses. It is YOUR side who have allowed the Taliban to regain strength in Afghanistan!

Don’t give me this crap about Dems being week on anything. No way am I going to accept that. No. Not at all.

  68. Wilco says:

Must be that 87 foot pike he caught. Or his successful war on pretzels. He personally trapped one in his throat and then killed it!

  72. Jesus Christ God of WAR says:

#71 – Bush’s approval rating on handling terrorism is in the 50’s, including a poll posted on this site.

Why can’t you accept that “terrorism” is a non-issue with Americans?

Please remember, #1 is the occupation of Iraq, #2 is the economy. And “terrorism” is #9. How can you possibly believe that a #9 position will carry ReichWingNuts to victory in ‘06 or ‘08?

I don’t know what you’re thinking, but it’s certainly not reality!

  73. Mr. Big says:

Why can’t you accept that “terrorism” is a non-issue with Americans?

Terrorism is a non issue with most Democrats, unfortuantly. And that is kind of scarry. They act like 9/11 never happened or something, or they have a pre-9/11 mindset.

  74. Brian Coughlan says:

    they have a pre-9/11 mindset.

C’mon guy, this stuff is just embarrasing:-)

  75. Jesus Christ God of WAR says:

#72 – The first WTC attack occured 30 days into Clinton’s presidency. There were no more islamic attacks on our soil for the next 7 years, longer than Bush has “kept us safe.” So, by the logic of that argument, Clinton was more successful at fighting terrorism and “keeping us safe” than Bush. But, you all hated Clinton. You hounded him morning, noon and night. You kept him in depositions, asking questions about oral sex when you should have been supporting his fight against terrorism. Why do republicans hate America?

Right on! Absolutely!! Right Freak’n ON!!!

  76. DRxJ says:

Yeah I bet if the Dems were in charge, they’d cut research budget in half for new technologies in the war on terror. They’d probably divert $5 million just from new detection technology development! Damn those Democrats!

    Oh wait….

  78. Brian Coughlan says:

    Why do republicans hate America?

Right on! Absolutely!! Right Freak’n ON!!!

  82. DRxJ says:

    Democrats = Soft on Terror
Yes, remember the thousands killed when planes exploded over the Pacific?
Remember the hundreds upon hundreds murdered when the millenium terrorist set off several bombs at LAX?
Remember how the WTC bombers were never caught, and are still at large, planning bigger attacks?
Remember how certain members of the “militia” not only succesfully bombed a building in Oklahoma, but were never apprehended, and subsequently went on to murder thousands more as they ran amok across this country?

All this happened while that “soft on Terror” Clinton was in office!!

    Remember?

  83. G.W.SuperChrist says:

Bush is only still perceived as being strong on terrorism because the Democrats have failed to drive home a very simple yet powerful message…

    1) Bush has spent at least $250 Billion to wage a war of choice against a country that had no ties to Al Quaeda, no WMD’s, and no ability to threaten America… How much more border, port, airport, and subway security could this $250 Billion have bought for America?

    2) Instead of using our homeland security money to keep America safe – he has spent it waging an unnecessary war that is destabilizing the Middle East and is creating more terrorists than it is getting rid of.

    3) His poor choices are making us less able to defend ourselves against terrorists not more able!!!

If Democrats repeat this very message over and over leading up to Nov… terrorism will no longer be Bush’s strong point.

  84. Jesus Christ God of WAR says:

#89 – …Remember how certain members of the “militia” not only succesfully bombed a building in Oklahoma, but were never apprehended, and subsequently went on to murder thousands more as they ran amok across this country?…

I love your sense of irony.

What religious group informed this “militia”? Oh. That’s right. Christian.

Must have been one of those kinder gentler ten thousand points of light compassionate convservative christian group.

  85. Mr. Big says:

All this happened while that “soft on Terror” Clinton was in office!!

Clinton deserves credit for what he did do on the terror front. And he also deserves credit for the good economy, as do the Republicans in congress at that time.

But, Clinton is not running this year. Remember, he endorsed Lieberman in the primary. That’s the candidate he really wanted.

Clinton is a far cry from the modern day libs, Howard Dean, Ned Lamont, and Russ Feingold. The Dailykos types who are taking over the Democrat party.

#92 – …Dems are battling both Repubs and the media.

Yet even with this going against them, there may well be a landslide shift to the Dems come November.

there may well be a landslide shift to the Dems come November.

That’s what was supposed to happen in CA-50. Busby was supposed to win that race in a landslide. She lost.

You say that is if it’s a bad thing. Getting the troops out of Iraq will make both Iraq and America safer. It’s all about not killing people at random … geddit?

  89. Mr. Big says:

Bluedog, who did the Clintons support in the CT primary? Who did they wish won?

  90. wethepeople says:

The 4.6% your talking about numb nuts is the number that are on unemployment. Once that runs out your off unemployment and that number drops. It doesn’t mean your working. Those numbers only work on shallow minded people like yourself.
The average wage for workers however has dropped since the Bush administration as stolen power. And as if they’re not rich enough the GOP won’traise the minimum wage from $5.15 an hour unless the super wealthy get a tax cut. Now that might seem right in Your simple mind but a lower class worker cannot survive on that wage.
Where does that get fair. The only way for them to support their family is to join the military fight for the very oppressors that are keeping them. And when he gets hurt and come home he finds that his benefits have been cut by the same people he went to fight for. You spineless republicans don’t take any responsibilty for the action you created you blame it on everyone else but yourselves. The Republican party has had control of government for long time and the only time they give anything to the people is if you get something more in return. All the republicans have done is create an atmosphere of fear and oppression. Peace is War, Poor is Rich, Stay the course is Adapt and Win. Excercise your right and vote your a terrorist.

  91. Mr. Big says:

#98, The Democrats touted Busby and said she was going to trounce Bilbrey in CA-50. This was supposed to be the big race that the Democrats would win, signaling what was to come in November. The Democrat lost.

  92. DRxJ says:

Mr. Big, why is Lamont not a modern day lib? What rubs you the wrong way about this guy? Is it his stance on the war in Iraq?

    vs
“Helpful” conservatives who say Democrats keep trying to elect the same type of liberal and should keep it up.

Personally, I don’t care who conservatives think we “should” run. I don’t care who Clinton(s) supported in the primary. I only care that progressives have a voice that is heard and that the public has choices on who to elect. The Lieberman/Lamont race was democracy at its best. Bring it on!

  97. Mr. Big says:

True. The pro-war, pro-Bush candidate got 48% of the vote in a Democrat primary. Not bad at all.

  100. DRxJ says:

Hey, quick question, isn’t CA-50 primarily a “red” region?

  101. DRxJ says:

Oh, and one other quick question…isn’t there some sort of controversy with the CA-50 elections?
I’m not being a smart ass here, I’m truly wondering!

  102. Mr. Big says:

Which democrat said that Busby would “trounce” her opponent in CA 50? I’d like to know, Mr. Big, because I didn’t hear anything of the sort.

Oh, I did. It was said by liberals in threads just like this at the time. That there was a culture of corruption. That Bilbray would go down hard. That Busby would win the districit big. That Republicans were in bad shape. Now it seems that liberals are backtracking because they were wrong. But that’s what they were saying at the time, just like liberals are saying it’s going to be a landslide for the Dems in November now, my friend.

  103. G.W.SuperChrist says:

they stood on the steps of the Capitol six months ago and presented a comprehensive plan for keeping America safe, much like the Repubs did with their “contract on America” in ‘94. Only this time, the main-stream media ignored the presentation. Dems are battling both Repubs and the media.

    Comment by Bluedog49 — August 15, 2006 @ 1:45 pm

Bluedog 49 – This is a Kerryesk mistake!

Comprehensive plans are to detail oriented for the majority of Americans to follow… these people only understand short and sweet points.

We must repeat the simple message that Bush’s war of choice has diverted American resources away from the real war on terror and has ultimately made us less safe not more!!!

If we repeat this message often enough (in the same style that Kerry was a flip-flopper) people will get the general impression that Bush’s policies have failed us in the war on terrorism… even is they can’t name a single reason why they think this.

At some point after this sentiment has permeated the American Psyche – the media will ask what the Democrats what they would do different… this is when they should roll out the comprehensive plan… when people inquire about it not when they force it on them.

  104. Marie says:

It still indicates that 1/3 of Americans are oblivious.

  105. Mr. Big says:

What you heard from some blogger on some thread is not what I was talking about.

I was. I was battling them at the time. They were convinced that CA-50 would go Democrat. Are you serious? Liberals didn’t think they were going to win in a landslide Duke Cunningham’s seat? I think you are rewriting history here a little bit.

  106. Skeptic says:

    Hey Mr. Big;
You never did give a source for the Bush approval rating of 50% on Terrorism issue.

  107. Wilco says:

    Here’s the poll.
    http://www.cbsnews.com/stories/2006/08/14/opinion/polls/main1890820.shtml

It says 51%. I think maybe Raw Story had a poll showing 55%.

  108. wethepeople says:

When someones house is violated the action taken is to tighten up and secure your own house, you invest in your own infrastructure to make your own house safe.
Running around the neighborhood throwing rocks through windows violating other houses so they don’t violate yours is not what you should be doing. You don’t turn into what violated you.

  109. Skeptic says:

    Wilco;
Thank you. I found the reference. So 51% approved of Bush on Terrorism, and 37% approved of Bush in general. So a decently large percentage don’t approve of Bush as a whole even though they approve of his work on terror.

  110. GIJOE says:

Mr. Big is a typical mental midget bullshit artist. He has no sources to post, cause he makes up his selective delusional crap to satiate his ego in order to fool himself.

Boneheads who think Bush has a high approval in any facet and tort how employement is low are more likely to be wageless parasitic bums living in their Mommy’s basement, and they have little clue about the economic status of the US. Consumer debt is now at a record $2.17 trillion, which means lack of jobs and slave wages. The US consumer savings rates is a negative 2%. People are borrowing just to feed themselves and wait till that trillion dollars of ARMs resets to higher rates, and we’ll see massive defaults that make the Great Depression look like playtime at PeeWee’s.

Any Bush approval ratings for this delusional state of terrorism is garnered from idiots that choose to shit all over the founding fathers visons and all those who fought in prior wars for freedom. These goons have sold out America to a conjob.
