August 15th, 2006 at 7:03 pmWhat is next, having muslims were badges. Umm… that sounds a little familiar, Jews in WWII. Im curious, how does one know someone is muslim? You know mike gallagher there are plenty of white muslims in the world.
I think 911 was an inside job by power elites that control the government. But, lets say 911 was carried out by a militant muslim group. As soon as these “terrorists” learn that we are profiling Arab young men, they will recruit old Asain women, or one legged Africans. Profiling doesn’t really work. I have a plan, lets check everyones bag!

August 15th, 2006 at 7:44 pmThis kind of talk shouldn’t be taken lightly. It’s not the first time I’ve heard this, and it won’t be the last. And it IS the kind of talk that led to the Holocaust in Germany. It will start by profiling anyone looking vaguely middle-eastern. But many others will be herded into those lines (Italians, Greeks, East and Native Americans, Hispanics, etc.) So, to avoid THAT problem, they will insist on some kind of identification…whether it’s an ID (national ID card) that includes religion, or going as far as eventually having anyone who is a Muslim wear a crescent on their clothing…or be forced to have a chip implanted…or whatever.
As for me, I’m a middle-aged white American Christian woman of British descent, and if I EVER see such lines in airports, bus stops, etc., I will join that line. I will NOT be a “good German!”

The entire focus on airline passenger security is entirely unnecessary. What are the chances that any four men with less than automatic weapons will EVER be able to successful hijack another American airliner? They noticed the horses were all gone, so they’re putting great big locks on the barn doors. But the horses are still gone…
I’m a lot more concerned about the places they aren’t bothering to watch – subways, haz-mat trucks, ports, rail yards, chemical plants, critical transport infrastructure.
I live in a place where there are five bridges, that if removed simultaneously, completely halt commercial transportation of ALL kinds in the between the Northern and Southern US. Care to guess where I am?

I have a better idea. Instead of catering to a group of people who allow themselves to be controlled by fear, based on their ignorance, and reinforced by their religious beliefs, and compounded by those who are dedicated to using their public personas to indoctrinate the believers by cloaking all of their advice with the bible. They are doing the Lord’s work, so you can trust them. Simply appeal to their belief that they are so much better than everyone else, and as well as giving them their own check-in line, we give them their own PLANE as well! No non-Christians would be permitted, they would get to feel special, and the rest of us would no longer be forced to put up with them.

If I may, I’d like to point out one or two problems with Gallagher’s little brainchild. First, how do the TSA workers determine who’s a Muslim and who isn’t. I realize that Gallagher and other nutzoids think they can pick them out in a crowd (”Why it’s obvious. They’re the dark-skinned people.”). But, in reality, there are plenty of Christians, Jews, Hindus, and others who look like the stereotypical Muslim. And there are Muslims of Northern European descent and there are Chinese Muslims. Not as easy as he thinks.
And there’s one other thing. The more you rely on racial profiling to detect terrorists, the easier it will be for the terrorists to get past you. You announce to the world who you won’t be looking closely at and that’s the kind of person they’ll find to do the job.
Here’s another thing to think about. How do they recruit suicide bombers in Iraq? If they can’t find enough willing participants, they pick a family man and give him a choice: “Blow yourself up or watch us rape, torture, and murder your family right in front of you.” It probably wouldn’t be effective if they were talking to a sociopathic ball of slime like Karl Rove, but normal people who care about others, especially their own family, would feel obliged to cooperate.
And it could happen here.

The argument against putting Muslims in their own line is first and foremost that it won’t work. You’re pretending that it’s possible to separate people into two groups: “definitely not terrorists” and “possibly terrorists.” Think about how well-researched and practiced the 9/11 plot was. If boxcutters had been banned from flights, they would have used another weapon. If we decide to suspend the 14th amendment and screen Muslims separately, they’ll find a way to get through it. What terrorist is going to get scared by another line?

This might just be a big winner for the GOP at the election booths. I see this as a major rallying policy issue that could really cement the GOP’s hold. I don’t know what the judge roster is but a few challenging lawsuits could possibly be knocked down. Remember this is a National Security issue and with it comes all the ugly baggage of the Right Thing To DO mentality. It’s ugly but if the GOP can get enough support on it it could fly.

That is not his point of view… it is the point of view that created this country that you get to live in called America. And NO Neocons do NOT know better than Americas founding fathers. The founding fathers actually DID have to live under a unitary executive and they lead a revolution against it.

There are only two possible courses of action: either we conduct religious profiling to separate the Muslims from the decent folk or we don’t do any checking at all and throw the doors wide open for terrorist attacks. I’d settle for a national ID card and a required national data based entry of personal info as a better preventive measure. If you don’t have the ID needed you don’t fly. Now tell me that’s some kind of “talking point”. Since when did “conservatism become an ideology that takes comfort in collective cowardice?
Here is my non-liberal, non-talking point thesis: IF you are actually afraid terrorists will kill you, THEN you are a coward. Don’t bother defending or discussing, because I don’t confer with cowards on any topic. Cowards have never made a positive contribution to our society or our country, and never will.

They don’t have a problem giving up their (and our) freedom in order to be “safe.” Here’s my idea. Round up all the neocons, far right Republicans, and far right Christians. Put them all on farms, separate them by sex, and don’t let them breed. Provide them with good housing, good food, and good medical care. Keep them “safe and sound” until the natural end of their days. Doing so will allow their reptilian genes to die off within the American population and the rest of us will be safer from the internal threat of totalitarianism, faciscm, the idea of “world domination,” and the end of the experiment called America.

Just watch Gillo Pontecorvo’s film “The Battle of Algiers” for proof. The film was written by one of the actual Algerian Terrorists. There is a section of the film where they color the hair, make-up and dress up Algerian women to look Western women. All profiling tells the Terrorists… is what NOT to look like.
