According to political operatives close to Sen. George Allen, the Senator used the derogatory phrase “macaca” not as an ethnic slur, but as a mash-up of “Mohawk,” referring to S.R. Sidarth’s distinctive hair, and “caca,” Spanish slang for excrement, or “sh*t.” Said one conservative: “In other words, he was a sh*t-head, an annoyance.”

Just keeps getting better.
August 16th, 2006 at 5:58 pmAnother GOP hopeful down the toilet.
August 16th, 2006 at 6:01 pmlet’s keep counting, this is fun watching someone inform their constituents that “Everything I say is a lie”
how many new excuses is he up to, 4?
let us see when he admits it is a word he has known all his life and perhaps heard a few thousand times in both french and translated into english. perhaps even yiddish? a word he has used to describe both folks of african and arabic descent to make sure their color and lineage were well noted. funny he doesn’t note his own? yet.
and PLEASE, post a link to his sister’s book if one does exist
August 16th, 2006 at 6:01 pmOh. I see. I thought Allen was hurling an ethnic slur he learned in childhood, but what he was really doing was simply insulting somebody trying to ask a question in a public forum. So you see, it was just in the spirit of stifling discussion.
August 16th, 2006 at 6:05 pmMe thinks Allen’s a poo-poo-doopy-doo-doo head.
August 16th, 2006 at 6:06 pmSen. Allen, just a friendly advise: When, if you have dug yourself into a hole, you need to stop digging at some point. You are now past that point.
August 16th, 2006 at 6:10 pmmacaques throw caca at the zoo, and if a log landed in the middle of your bald Indian head well…I was just saying…
August 16th, 2006 at 6:12 pmWhoa there, George Allen campaign operatives—-that’s not a Mohawk! C’mon. But cheer up, any doubts about Allen’s qualifications for the Presidency have been erased. He’s a complete asshole!
August 16th, 2006 at 6:13 pm“No, no! It’s not racial! Just a regular insult, honest!”
August 16th, 2006 at 6:13 pmI will resort to that old retort: “It takes one to know one.” As the Kingston Trio so aptly put it some years ago: “It takes a worried man to sing a worried song. I’m worried now but I won’t be worried long.” Mr. Allen need not worry long. In November he will lose and his worries will be over.
August 16th, 2006 at 6:16 pmAre you freaking kidding me? How many more lame excuses are they going to come up with to cover this a**hat’s racism? Now instead of it being a racist comment, they’re claiming that he was just using an expletive? Only a twit would believe that– furthermore, it only makes Allen look even worse. What you have here is a bunch of racists tripping over their own incompetence.
August 16th, 2006 at 6:17 pmAllen; open mouth, insert BOTH feet.
August 16th, 2006 at 6:25 pmThe offensive remarks made by Senator George Allen have all the makings of a Dick Wadhams campaign. Wadhams cut his political teeth in Colorado and has been seen as the person behind the rise of Senator Wayne Allard, a Colorado veterinarian. Wadhams went on to orchestrate the campaign against Tom Daschle in South Dakota and is now leading Allen’s reelection effort.
Dick Wadhams is a man many have called Karl Rove’s protégé. During Wadhams work in Colorado for Senator Wayne Allard’s 2002 reelection, he gave one of the most acerbic victory speeches I have ever witnessed. While gloating at the defeat of Ted Strickland, his comments were vile and hateful. The man is Karl Rove absent a scintilla of decorum and decency…if you can imagine that! It appears that George Allen believes that two bullies are better than one.

August 16th, 2006 at 6:28 pmHaving lived in Virginia, I’m not sure if this hurts or helps him.
August 16th, 2006 at 6:28 pmAt least Mel Gibson had the excuse of being drunk. George Allen, stone cold sober, is a rude, racist irresponsible bigot. As a fellow Virginian let me apologize to Mr. Sidartha. Mr Sidartha, I am very sorry that George Allen called you names and spoke to you discourteously. This behavour reflects badly on all Virginians and I apologize on their behalf. While it is little compensation I assure you that I will not be voting for George Allen when he runs for any political office. I will not vote for him for President, Vice President, Senator, Representative, Governor or even Dog Catcher. I would trade George Allen for a dog and think myself and my state to have benefited from the trade.
August 16th, 2006 at 6:29 pm“what? I didnt say n*gger. I said. ‘ney, gir’. ‘ney’ meaning ‘no’ and ‘gir’ is short for ‘girl.’ I was trying to say that there wernt any women in the room. yeah.”
August 16th, 2006 at 6:33 pmLet’s give a big TP “welcome back” to Clyde the Ripper!!!
Nice to see you again!
August 16th, 2006 at 6:34 pm“In no way was it meant to demean him, and I’m sorry if he was offendedâ€â€¦
“Hell I thought those people liked being called monkeys… how was I to know that monkey boy was so sensitive… I sure am sorry if he’s so out of touch with the reality of the real world here in Virginia that he is somehow offended by his obvious resemblance to a monkey… Dang… Sooooooooooooooooooorryâ€
“Oops wait… I meant Mohawcaca - meaning hair cut of shit… theres no way that little monkey boy could take offense to that… right?
August 16th, 2006 at 6:38 pmA real pro, that Allen.
August 16th, 2006 at 6:40 pmI went back and replayed the video substituting the word “shithead” for the word “macaca” to see if it would sound less insensitive. You know what? It doesn’t make him look any better. That and twice reffering to Mr. Webb (to Mr. Sidarth) as “your opponent” (instead of “my opponent”) really makes him look like he doesn’t know what he’s talking about. But then, that’s typical for a shithead like Sen George Allen.
August 16th, 2006 at 6:47 pmno no yes no no - I am intrigued by your assertion that you are banned because of challenges from the far left.
Is this true… what kind of challenges are these… how did you make this last post if you are banned?
Just wondering…
August 16th, 2006 at 6:50 pmTypical republican ass, get caught doing something very un-Christian, lie about it, get caught in the lie, so tell a different lie. Typical republican way of life.
August 16th, 2006 at 6:50 pmI read another post containing some of his sister’s excerpts from her book. This guy sounds like a real class act.
Or “his sister hates America”
you pick.
August 16th, 2006 at 6:51 pmThis is pure comedy.
August 16th, 2006 at 6:51 pmGeorge “shithead” Allen
August 16th, 2006 at 6:59 pmi think the person that can’t answer a question with any particular answer must be off a little?
August 16th, 2006 at 7:01 pmthe idea that progressives are all left wing liberals, that is funny, no, down right hilarious. Nothing could be farther off the mark. you will find common folks in the center that don’t like being lied to first, and then all ends of the spectrum from left to right after that. that you don’t understand this is fine, you can learn if you want.
George Allen is a White Republican. For him not to be a racist would be like a vacuum filled with air. Contradictory.
August 16th, 2006 at 7:02 pm“In other words, he was a sh*t-head, an annoyance.†- - In other words, some conservative watched Rob Corddry’s segment on TDS last night.
August 16th, 2006 at 7:42 pmSome might say that George Allen has caca for brains.
August 16th, 2006 at 7:55 pmAllen explaination number 1: A word my mom used.
Allen explaination number 2: Coined by campaign staff.
Allen explaination number 3: I just made it up.
One thing is clear: Allen is a serial liar.
August 16th, 2006 at 8:09 pm“We plan on running a positive campaign as soon as this 20 year old shithead turns off his cam-corder.”
-Bush/Coulter Republican Presidential Hopeful, George Allen(R)-Dixieland
August 16th, 2006 at 8:09 pmJames Webb is a shithead, not this volunteer.
That said, Allen is still going to win this race by at least 10 points. Democrats are wasting their time on it.
August 16th, 2006 at 9:11 pmWait, so “shithead” is supposed to be better than “monkey”? Wow…someone please tell me why these people keep getting elected.
August 16th, 2006 at 9:23 pmmr. Big;
August 16th, 2006 at 9:37 pmWinning isn’t everything. Unless you are a republican where upon winning is more important than honesty, justice, integrity, truth, kindness, charity and honor. Of course if you had the complete set of values mentioned above, you would have a hard time fitting in with the current set of Republicans. Perhaps you might have been a happy member of the Republican party when Lincoln was a member.
More incredibly stupid explanations from George “Hang ‘Em High” Allen:
#3,472: “I thought the young man might be from Macau, and his dark hair made me think of a crow, so I called him Macau-caw.”
#5,988: “I suddenly had to go #2 so bad that I regressed to my three-year-old self. And that’s why I called out ‘Ma! Ca-ca!’ I wanted my mommy to take me to go potty.”
#11,713: “I thought he was a wetba… er… a Hispanic fellow, so I called him ‘muchacho’. But, I had just put some potato chips in my mouth so it came out sounding like ‘macaca’.”
#53,109: “Okay, Okay, I give up. I’m a bigot. I’m a racist asshole from head to toe and deep down to the marrow. I can’t help calling a dark-skinned person a monkey. I called him worse stuff after he left. I was ready to go grab some rope from the trunk of my car and show him what we all thought of uppity nig… Okay, look we didn’t do nuthin’ to hurt Sambo, so what’s the big deal? Can I still be president?”

Comment by Mr. Big — August 16, 2006 @ 9:11 pm
(Damn!! It’s a variation on the “I know you are but what am I?” gambit. This guy is good. But, I think I’ve got him.)
Oh yeah, well James Webb isn’t a shithead. George Allen is. And no backsies.
August 16th, 2006 at 9:47 pmFunny, posted this earlier, and lo, it has been deleted! Could it be that those on the left don’t like to hear that some of their own are guilty of the very same thing that Sen. Allen is being accused of?
Lets see…..
1. I love this quote. It’s from Mahatma Gandhi. He ran a gas station down in St. Louis for a couple years. Mr. Gandhi, you still go to the gas station? A lot of wisdom comes out of that gas station. Hillary Rodham Clinton D-NY, January 3rd, 2004 in St. Louis.
2. There are white ni*gers. I’ve seen a lot of white ni*gers in my time, want to use that word. We just need to work together to make our country a better country and I’d just as soon quit talking about it so much. Senator Robert Byrd D-WVa, March 4, 2001.
3. In Delaware, the largest growth of population is Indian-Americans, moving from India. You cannot go to a seven eleven or a Dunkin’ Donuts unless you have a slight Indian accent. I’m not kidding. Senator Joseph Biden D-DE, June 17, 2006, Manchester, New Hampshire.
What say you???
August 16th, 2006 at 9:57 pmMy apologies. First post is still there…glasses dirty, couldn’t see it. But I liked seeing it again anyway….
August 16th, 2006 at 9:58 pm#33 That said, Allen is still going to win this race by at least 10 points. Democrats are wasting their time on it.
And that’s the difference between Republicans and Democrats. We’d try to unload an idiot like Allen while Republicans called us “intolerant” for doing it. Republicans want to keep the dipshit around because 1) they don’t think there’s anything wrong with calling a dark-skinned person a monkey and then coming up with one stupid bullshit excuse after another for having done it, and 2) they like the fact that we don’t like him. It’s all a big game for righties. It’s not about good governing. It’s about stickin’ it to the other guys. Screw the country, it’s all about winning and losing.
August 16th, 2006 at 9:59 pmImagine what this guy says when there is no camera and microphone around?
August 16th, 2006 at 10:48 pmIt’s not about good governing. It’s about stickin’ it to the other guys. Screw the country, it’s all about winning and losing.
In other words, it’s Allen that’s the …. eh-hem…. annoyance.
August 16th, 2006 at 11:35 pm#40: Excellent post. I have seen this pattern time and again. Tucker Carlson, several years ago, explaining the difference between Democrats and Republicans, said, “You guys [Democrats] really believe that politics can change people’s lives.” I think Carlson is correct. Democrats believe that doing the right thing can actually have a positive impact on people’s lives. The current Republican Party, from what I’ve observed, believes only in gaining and maintaining its own power, for its own self-interest.
August 17th, 2006 at 12:49 am#33: Allen is still going to win this race by at least 10 points. Democrats are wasting their time on it.
Thank you so much for your helpful advice, but we Democrats will decide for ourselves which races we think are important. In my opinion: every single one of them. But especially the ones that involve the very worst Republicans: Allen, Santorum, Ensign, Taylor, et al.
August 17th, 2006 at 1:12 am338 - Rickd, the difference is that the “unfortunate” remarks coming from Democrats are few and far between. The “unfortunate” remarks coming from Repuiblicans just keep on coming every so quickly.
I don’t mind you posting, what is it, three remarks from Demcorats. There will always be many more “unfortunate” remarks coming from Republicans, Conservatives and Regressives.
In the same style of yet another “unfortunate” remark from one of the most regressive regressives “bring it on!”
August 17th, 2006 at 8:22 amGeorge Allen looks like Gomar Pyle.
August 17th, 2006 at 8:45 amTrouble is, he can’t sing like Jim Nabors,
but he can still show racism as his true colors.
John Reid, Allen’s Senate communications director, said in a statement: “I don’t think George Allen would ever try to publicly embarrass or demean a young person even if that person was working on an opposing campaign.
What an ass. Of course Allen meant to embarrass S.R. Otherwise he would have kept his damn mouth shut. He pointed out S.R. in the crowd for a reason. And it wasn’t to welcome him to Virginia. His action speaks for itself.
Oh, and on CNN yesterday morning, S.R. said that he had recently introduced himself to Sen. Allen. Has no one in the press asked the Allen campaign to confirm this?
August 17th, 2006 at 9:34 amAllen has a brilliant campaign manager in the Karl Rove tradition. I suspect that his macaca comment will help Allen splendidly in Souther Virginia and among the rural white folks there and his subsequent apologies etc., will smooth over the ruffled feathers of the white urbanites and the Indian American Republicans who fawn and fall over any politico for photo opportunities and government contracts. So, there you have it, Allen is no dummy. But, the real smart one in Virginia and in our country will see thro the racism of this man who has a fetish for nooses, confederate flag and a visceral antagonism to people of color.
August 17th, 2006 at 10:17 amThe way I figure it, it’s only a matter of time before Allen claims that he actually meant to say “bukkake.”
August 17th, 2006 at 2:08 pmrick d:
All three were stupid comments.
#1: apology issued, no lame excuses.
August 17th, 2006 at 2:09 pm#2: apology issued, no lame excuses.
#3: It was Biden. What do you expect?
[…] So, let me get this straight: It’s not okay for a sitting U.S. senator to call an American of Indian descent a “monkey,” but it’s okay for a sitting U.S. senator to call an American a “shithead?” Seriously, how long before Allen starts claiming to have called Sidarth a “bukkake?”  […]
August 17th, 2006 at 2:16 pmIf Allen didn’t know what that word meant (despite his excellent French background), then he shouldnt have used it. He should just have stuck to well known respectable “shithead”.
By Allan’s logic, he can also use “N**ger” and pretend he didnt know that word, he only heard it used by other people.
By Allan’s logic, we can all call him nincompoop.
He should really just withdraw and give some other Republican a chance.
