Bush Ignores Calling For Minimum Wage Increase On 10-Year Anniversary Of Last Increase

bushecontext2.jpg

After President Bush met with his economic advisors today, he spoke to the media on the state of the economy:

We discussed the state of the economy. We discussed where our economy is headed. And we discussed the steps that we’re going to take to ensure that our economy continues to lead the world.

One important step that Bush didn’t discuss in his speech was an increase in the minimum wage. This Sunday, Aug. 20, marks the 10-year anniversary of the 1996 minimum wage bill — the last time the minimum wage was increased.

Today, eight million Americans are still living on $5.15 an hour and the federal minimum wage is currently at its lowest level in 51 years. Since President Bush took office, the number of Americans living in poverty has increased by 5.4 million. (Unemployment and poverty rates fell after the 1996 legislation.)

The Senate recently voted down a wage increase because it was tied, in a political ploy, to a cut in inheritance taxes on multimilllion-dollar estates.

The American economy can’t continue to lead if eight million people are left behind.

It is time that Americans got something clear. The so called war on terror is a lie as far as a cohesive target…….but more importantly…….there is a war. Just one most people are not aware of..but more are becoming aware of. The war is between the thugs in power and the general populace they are screwing and want divided – they wanted us fighting each other from the beginning. You see…the American people are the right wing crime familys enemy. They want to dominate us and take our resources. One ex: sell off forest land to the rich..then it doesn’t matter if the rest of the country goes to hell..they’ll have their scenic spots owned and secure. They then can build the “rape highway” they have planned ( Governor Perry’s little project) up the middle of this country. How cute. A symbol of divide and conquer loud and clear. Why would Bush / Rove / CrazyCheny / and Rummy want to unite/strengthen this country? Think about it. Would you want to unite your enemies? It would not serve their interests to unite us. So…folks. Keep watchin Jon Benet, be very afraid all the time ( doesn’t matter what of) and just keep quiet like good little slaves. Or …….not.

    27. Alexander Alt says:

But we could have the Democrats raise taxes on everyone who works – excluding the Left, of course – and destroy the economy in quick order.

Then we can all work for minimum wage. The Democrats would love that one.

    28. Alexander Alt says:

WHEN IS THIS NONSENSE GOING TO STOP?

January 20, 2009. That’s when Bush leaves office.

Of course, the real nonsense could start if one of those morons in the Demoncratic Party somehow get elected. Now THAT would be a disaster.

    29. s says:

Just about the time the Republicans took over the House.

I know it is hard to confront a liberal with facts, but the GOP took control of the House in January 1995. That was a FULL YEAR before the Congress voted for an increase.

I know facts are pesky things for a liberal to understand, but at least try to make an effort to know something, for God’s sake.

    31. Alexander Alt says:

That’s because we have not had a terror attack since that date, numbnuts.

    35. Alexander Alt says:

Who in the hell makes $5.15-an-hour?

Liberals who are either too stupid or too lazy to work.

This is why they want the government to get them some more money. It makes the limousine liberals feel better to milk businesses of any profit.

Never ask a liberal about economics. They will merely turn to their friend Karl Marx for advice.

    46. Bluedog49 says:

Retired Republican, why is it that conservatives almost always like to rely on anecdotal stories to make points? Anecdotes may be interesting, but they’re not that useful as fact. The facts are that when minimum wages go up, poverty-rates decline. Furthermore, the data on minimum wages show that increasing minimum wage in a given area helps the economy in that area. Why? It’s the Henry Ford principle: if people make more money, they buy things.

    47. Alexander Alt says:

Alexander Alt, go to a rightwing nutjob neocon website where your fallacious comments will be appreciated.

      You don’t appreciate them?

You don’t have to “appreciate them.” You can challenge them, or, as I believe, mock them because you have no rational response other than “you are a rightwing nutjob.”

#43 – obvious projection, poor Fla business owner. Hey, y’all gonna vote for Katie?

    53. Alexander Alt says:

The facts are that when minimum wages go up, poverty-rates decline.

All reports on this shows just the opposite – because the businesses hardest hit by an increase in the MW lay people off rather than pay them more.

Furthermore, the data on minimum wages show that increasing minimum wage in a given area helps the economy in that area.

It also increases unemployment, mostly among people who can least afford it: the working poor.

Why? It’s the Henry Ford principle: if people make more money, they buy things.

Not if they get laid off, will they “buy” things. They will go on welfare, and tax the system more than if there was no increase in the MW.

    54. Alexander Alt says:

Honey…..Alex. Sorry. I thought you worked at the Pentagon because they are so inept that I thought you fit right in.

      Interesting.

So you must be a prostitute, because you fit right in, in a whorehouse.

      Yes, the Republican “stategy”

I have seen Dems in power, and I have seen Republicans in power.

All either party can do is fix the edges of the policy. They can’t change the game.

      And the game is capitalism.

If the Dems ever really try to destroy capitalism, they will be thrown completely out of power.

    88. Esteban Calderone says:

Ooh I pity Alt when the Dems come into power.

    103. Alexander Alt says:

I still don’t understand how Democrats are trying to destroy capitalism. Can you explain please?

Oh, they could continue to raise taxes on people who work, on businesses, on the income of retirees, on everyone but their poorest constituents.

As we have seen with the deficit going down with tax cuts, the more you raise taxes on a national basis, the higher the deficit goes without offsetting cuts in spending, and the more the taxes impact economy growth.

      That’s called Economics 101.

    104. Esteban Calderone says:

These talks resulted in the North Atlantic Treaty, which was signed in Washington, DC on 4 April 1949. It included the five Treaty of Brussels states, United States, Canada, Portugal, Italy, Norway, Denmark and Iceland.
      NATO

Not uptight at all. I desire some debate.

Maybe you can see that if you intelligently argue your points, you get an intelligent response from the other side. But when you call names and use “Bushboy” and other baloney, you get the same thing in return.

I told this to plenty of my friends who use every name in the book for Clinton. I told them it was self-defeating. Nixon once said that if you hate, you come back to hating yourself. He was right, at least about that.

Nothing was done then, and nothing is done now. You may want to hate Bush, but he has tried to get the UN – and Kofi Annan – to end the slaughter in Darfur, and none of those grand European nations wish to get off their fannies.

Then I misunderstood your post. It wasn’t clear to me what you meant.

The NATO treaty only specified that NATO countries would come to each other’s aid.

That is true. And NATO claimed that the conflict in Kosovo threatened the security of some of its country members, mainly those bordering the former Yugoslavia.

We did not have NATO obligations to go into Bosnia or Kosovo.

The actions were undertaken after a NATO vote. As a member of NATO, the US had an obligation to fulfill.

I don’t think us being unable to get involved unilaterally was with “our allowance.” Clinton tried to stop it, but the nations in Europe – the true countries who should have been involved – did nothing. They stood by and bitched.

Milosevic, if you should know, was a leftist and nationalist dictator who used ethnic cleansing in Bosnia and Kosovo.

However, do remember that Clinton went into Kosovo in the midst of a civil war without major public support in the US. And the UN did not sanction the sending of troops.

I do think that NATO specifically says that only signatories can come to each other’s aid and assistance, as NATO did after 9/11.

I do not think they can ask for aid for a non-NATO country, but if you have the relevant portion of the treaty I would like to see it.

NATO convoy massacre a scene of horrors
by John Bosnitch, April 16, 1999
      (Includes a MediaWatch supplement)
Scores of ethnic-Albanian Yugoslavs were killed by attacking NATO aircraft along a road in southwestern Kosovo on Wednesday, April 14. In a series of attacks, jets fired high explosives on a column of thousands of ethnic Albanians traveling in a convoy of buses, cars and tractors between Djakovica and Prizren.

Citing a figure of 72 dead, Yugoslav media accused NATO of deliberately committing the largest massacre in the three years since separatist Albanian guerrillas made their first attack on Serb civilians. NATO authorities initially denied responsibility and U.S. President Bill Clinton dismissed the killings as “regrettable, but inevitable.” NATO said that any dead were “collateral damage” from a legitimate attack on a military convoy. IMCnews has prepared a detailed report on the massacre.
NATO’s version of events changed several times before its “final” findings were released on April 19. But journalists who visited the scene after the attack obtained testimonies and physical evidence of a series of attacks by what NATO finally admitted were several aircraft.

Plenty goes wrong in a war. Roosevelt sent thousands of men to their deaths based on fault intelligence, as in the Battle of the Bulge. But we do not blame the war leaders for every screw-up in battle.

Well, it was in the news… here is the entry in the wikipedia:

NATO itself justified the actions in Kosovo under its Article 4, which states:

“The Parties will consult together whenever, in the opinion of any of them, the territorial integrity, political independence or security of any of the Parties is threatened. “
Legitimacy of NATO bombing of Yugoslavia

However, I did support Clinton’s sending troops there.[...]And we sent in forces without the support of the UN.

Also from the entry in the wikipedia:

Additionally, as NATO is a supranational organization itself (and not a member state of the United Nations), NATO itself is not subject to limitations which would apply to members of the UN.

Legalistic, to be sure. But there you have a) the rationale behind the NATO involvement and b) the reason why UN support wasn’t needed.

    230. Alexander Alt says:

Clinton lost no American soldiers in combat in Kosovo and Bosnia.

Agreed. But do not forget that that was entirely an air war – no ground troops were sent in.

Clinton realized that the unpopularity of sending troops (remember the Ohio debate with Madeleine Albright and Sandy Berger?) into a ground war would have meant his head. So he sent mostly air forces.

He was lucky he didn’t need ground troops. Most Presidents who send in troops do not have that luxury.

    231. Alexander Alt says:

      Interesting.

However, the UN resolutions behind the Iraq War also allowed for action if the prior resolutions were not followed. Saddam did not follow them.

So, UN action was needed in this case but the UN – the French and their allies – did not want to back up words of force with actual force. It appears the French are doing it again with respect to Lebanon.

    232. Esteban Calderone says:

Clinton lost no American soldiers in combat in Kosovo and Bosnia.

But he killed a helluva lot civilians. How many Serb and Albanian civialians have no arms, nor legs or are maimed for life because of Billy Bob Clinton?

We could all discuss the ins and outs of the war in Bosnia…( we didn’t stay there by the way – Bush wants to stay in Iraq forever ) but that is not the topic. The topic is that this right wing sleaze bag of a president is not behind minimum wage. Now if you live in an Alternate universe like some here and believe that you have gotten where you are without the help of and connection to others…..go for it. Keep being the pigs you are. If, on the other hand, you realize that working together including creating social services ( The Democratic vision) will be part of what keep this species from killing itself off you can get to work for something other than yourself. Republicans are extremely selfish and deluded sometimes about their connection to others. They think they are these great conquerors but don’t realize they are totally dependent on the infrastructure made up of countless lives. So, their time must end. And it is ending. Gore/Feingold

Clinton did send troops to Kosovo:

President Bill Clinton announced Wednesday that the United States is deploying more forces in the Kosovo conflict, including about 7,000 ground troops for any future NATO peacekeeping force that would enter the province once the fighting ended.
Clinton increases U.S. troops for Kosovo force

The big difference is that the American contingent was part of a NATO-led operation, not a willy-nilly “coalition of the willing”. That made all the difference in the world.

    235. Esteban Calderone says:

you know all about the dictators.

    236. Alexander Alt says:

Alexander, we’ve got 25,000 maimed american soldiers, 2600 dead and 130,000 dead Iraqi civilians.

Let me say this, being the friend of a man who just returned 2 weeks ago from his 5th tour in Iraq, with 1 tour in Afghanistan: I do not like war.

However, wars sometimes are necessary. I could read to you intel reports, and discussions, and post the remarks of many politicians (including John Kerry and Jillary Clinton) who said that Iraq was an imminent threat in 2003. They all believed it. The world believed it. And although no huge stockpiles of WMD have been found, no one can tell me that Iraq was not a danger before the invasion.

I do not like this war, and I cringe each time another American is killed there. But if you wish to be against war but never for defending the world and your country against the likes of Saddam Hussein, or Slobodan Milosevic, or Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, you are not thinking about what not doing anything truly means.

      “Once the fighting ended.”

In short, no ground troops were sent in while the war raged.

And he was paying Palestinian terrorists to blow up Israeli buses.

And he tried to buy uranium ore in Africa in the late 1990s, but was stymied because the governments there knew what he was going to do with it.

Ok Alt, why are you defending the policies of this president? And why are you willing to continue a war that we did not need to fight in the first place?

    277. Esteban Calderone says:

Yea, I served, no small thanks to the draft.

Yeah you served for North Vietnam. What a lying a$$hole.

    278. Esteban Calderone says:

would love to someday debate a real conservative.

You call that a debate? I call it a slaughter. Alex and Exely tear you a new one every time you open your pie hold.

    279. s says:

Esteban is Alt’s side kick. The reason liberals have a hard time “debating” these type folks is that they don’t reason…they throw information at you that they have twisted to fit their story. It is not honest…and they know it. It is all about power…not reason, fairness, etc. They can’t be wrong…regardless of the reality of a situation

    280. Alexander Alt says:

Ok Alt, why are you defending the policies of this president? And why are you willing to continue a war that we did not need to fight in the first place?

I like Bush for the same reason I do not like Hillary Clinton – he stands for what he believes. Whether or you agree with him, as I do, or disagree with him as you do, you can say one thing about him: he takes a stand and stays with it. For instance, he is staying with supporting this war in Iraq and Afghanistan because he believes what we are doing there is right.

Now, I see you are against the war. That is fine. I do not “hate” people against the war, but I do ask them to tell me what we should do next without calling names.

Give me a strategy that works, and I will listen. Hell, many people will.

    281. Esteban Calderone says:

      Esteban is Alt’s side kick.

Alt is my new friend. It’s fun to watch him intellectially destroy you pea sized brained liberals.

    282. s says:

esteban….tearing a new one is all you think about. Because you are weak and over compensating. That’s why you’re on the right

    283. Alexander Alt says:

The reason liberals have a hard time “debating” these type folks is that they don’t reason…they throw information at you that they have twisted to fit their story.

If you can show me where I have “twisted information,” I invite you to post it and show me to be a liar.

Where I said I did not know the answer, I asked and someone posted the relevant information. We debated on NATO’s role in Bosnia and Kosovo – and I said I did not know the answer. Someone posted it, and we debated it.

Is that not debate? What else could I do to placate you and get you to discuss issues rather than call names?

    284. s says:

Esteban…you don’t care about this country. Shame on you. You’re a loser

    285. EasyRider says:

It was dumb to point this out before the 20th. How you just make it possible that he will talk about it over the week-end.

Why do Dems always get the President clues about those things he should care about but clearly does not, and let him serve empty words for the media to send to the public?

Stop this dumb shit. Let the son a bitch fuck up, then point it out.

    286. Alexander Alt says:

Bush is a failure as a president! Most Americans agree with me. Prove me wrong…

No, Bush is not popular with a majority of the Americans polled. I do not think he is a “failure,” and no one will truly know until years from now. It takes decades for the ultimate disposition of the success or failure of an administration to be settled, by the public, politicians, historians, etc.

To say he is a “success” or a “failure” at this point is senseless, to be honest.

    287. Esteban Calderone says:

Because you are weak and over compensating.

Nope, you must be referring to the Democrats’ foreign policy proposals.

    288. Esteban Calderone says:

Esteban…you don’t care about this country. Shame on you. You’re a loser

Yeah, the Republicans have been losing so many elections.

If you want to see a whiny loser, look in the mirror. Crabfaced Loserman.

    289. Esteban Calderone says:

Bush is a failure as a president!

Most Americicans think Bill Clinton is immoral and has no class.

    290. s says:

Bullshit Alt. Pure Bullshit. You sure are a right wing shill. Bush will be held accountable….he doesn’t get off with that right wing spin. “history will decide” Sorry but no cigar. People are not falling for that. He is a failure and you need to get counseling.
Bush is a disaster and a failure for this country. If you can’t see that, it would take eons to explain it to you.

And you do not debate. I don’t respect your comments enough to debate you. Sorry
i know where it would end. In la la land………..Alt’s Alternate reality. Won’t go there. Night.

    291. Esteban Calderone says:

Dixie Blood stop spamming the board, a$$hole.

    292. Alexander Alt says:

      Still waiting…

All I can say to you is that you cannot judge a president while he is in office as to how history will judge him.

It is like judging a ball player for having a lousy season at the plate, and then he hits a grand slam in the 9th inning of Game 7 of the World Series. Historians will remember the home run, not the lousy season.

    293. Esteban Calderone says:

      #316-

      You’re using Democrat talking points.

I thought you were smarter and more creative than that.

    294. Zooey says:

      Hi Uncle Ho,

      Anything going on around here?

    295. Alexander Alt says:

Bullshit Alt. Pure Bullshit. You sure are a right wing shill.

That’s not debate – its name calling.

And it is the reason why Dems have lost all but 2 presidential elections since 1964.

Debate rationally, and you will get a debate from the other side. Call names, and you get that instead.

    296. s says:

Night little esteban side kick. Hard being in the cheering section after awhile isn’t it. Especially when the person you’re cheering is …….who he is. What restraint.

    297. Esteban Calderone says:

Phuck you to the core a$$hole, time-wasting, sh!thead!!!

I can see you’re in 3rd grade, or maybe in prison throwing $hit.

Stop spamming the board, you ugly troll.

    298. Zooey says:

      dixie,

Is there a reason you didn’t do that earlier?

    299. Esteban Calderone says:

Esteban Calderone, Igave a chance you phucked yourself!!!!

Nope, the Dems got phucked over last election by Rove. hehe

    300. suggie says:

      Drink yourself to sleep, liberal?

    302. suggie says:

    303. suggie says:

whacko wingnuts unit! This bog has become full of worthless nonsense and truth twisting tonight. What a joke!

    304. Alexander Alt says:

It’s obvious you rightwing junkies don’t have a life on a Friday night sitting on this blog for hours. Get a life!

So, someone who comes on a site looking for some debate on a Friday night after a hard work week is now a “junkie.”

How would you describe a liberal who comes on here on a Friday night and posts for hours?

    305. cmw says:

What Bush really meant to say was “We discussed more made-up terrorist stories so we can shovel even more money under the table to our supporters, privatize everything we can to our supporters, get as much money as we can for dismantling the US government, and basically open up the Treasury doors to the pin-striped corporate mafia.

When are the American people, and especially the conservatives who claim to HATE big government, going to wake up and see that BushCo and the corporate GOP and the corporate Dems are basically racketeering fronts. Our country is run by organized crime.

What’s it going to take for reasonable people to get the message. The emperor is not wearing any clothes, and he’s a crook.

THe former British Ambassador to Uzbekistan wrote the following regarding John Reid, Home Secretary and the suspicious terrorist arrests last week in the UK
      http://www.counterpunch.org/murray08172006.html
“For those who don’t know, it is worth introducing Reid. A hardened Stalinist with a long term reputation for personal violence, at Stirling Univeristy he was the Communist Party’s “Enforcer”, (in days when the Communist Party ran Stirling University Students’ Union, which it should not be forgotten was a business with a very substantial cash turnover). Reid was sent to beat up those who deviated from the Party line.”
His parting words were “Be sceptical. Be very, very sceptical.”

    306. Ho Chi Minh says:

Circle jerk? Estaban & Alex Asshole fight to be the pivot man.

    307. Alexander Alt says:

I see all of the liberals who did want to debate some issues have gone, to be replaced by bitter haters who have nothing to add but namecalling.

Time for me to exit, stage right.

Of course, I fully expect the more juvenile amongst the haters to curse my back after I have left. A sure sign of a twisted mind.

      Night, folks.

    308. s says:

I feel good. It is becoming so obvious to me and a lot of others that what makes the right wing tick is juvenile in your face dishonesty. I don’t respect them. They aren’t honest with themselves and will defend their “team” for the powerful feeling they get…at all costs. This country has been damaged by a loss of the ability for it’s citizens to communicate and share responsibility. It’s been the squeaky wheel syndrome and it is on the way out.
      Gore/Feingold.

    309. Trinary Suka says:

To say he is a “success” or a “failure” at this point is senseless, to be honest.
      ==
To be honest the Plans for Iraq war date back 10 years before Bush [PNAC]. The plans for Israel to make a clean break date back to 1996.

      PNAC is a failure.

To be honest the think tanks that advise the Bush cabal is a failure. [The Kristol/Kagan decades long Ideological failure]

      Neo-Cons are a failure.

    310. Esteban Calderone says:

      Comment by Ho Chi Minh

      Hi Uncle Ho. Idiot stick may gotten his marching orders from Unka Karl, but WE don’t have to follow them. I wanted to read about the minimum wage thing, and I find this horror. ;{

    317. Trinary Suka says:

It’s only 6pm here, pea brain liberal.

      Capitalism is liberalism.

      Think about that ‘pea brain’.

    318. s says:

The question is….did this discussion get anywhere regarding the fact that Bush is not working to raise minimum wage? No. Because there were several trolls intent on having fun and shutting down the discussion. This is how our government works. Men of no honor or decency. Power is all. Ironically, look where their tactics have gotten this country. We are less powerful, less respected and less wealthy. When a country cares only about power, greed and fighting, it falls. We are in danger of this. The trolls here were interested in their own power…nothing more. Nothing. Too many puffed up roosters crowing delightedly as the ship goes down. It’s about all of us you know….not libs against Right wingers. That is a false fight. The dividers want power….to keep us fighting. We can’t let them

    319. Zooey says:

Wow. It looks like the trolls knock off at 6 p.m. Cool.

Get off the soapbox. The usuals are just as power hungry as the trolls. In fact the usuals are so protective of their little coffee klatch bush hating sessions, they can’t stand it if anybody veers from the party-line, and can be just as controlling and power mad. For example, if you say anythign about HRC, all the usuals go deaf dumb and blind.

    323. s says:

Cuz that stuff can make… make people do some strange things…Heh Heh And all the tax dollars Y’all givin us, in our pockets will newver be able to pay back china, because china ’s paying for the war and y’all can pay them back later. So you can see the impact that a minimum wage increase has on our economy… it’s just hard werk. Now how do I look on this Harley.. Vroooom, Vrooooom..HeH HeH

LANCASTER COUNTY, PA – As President Bush’s motorcade came into view on Lincoln Highway East Wednesday afternoon, protesters prepped their makeshift anti-war/anti-Bush signs and prepared to faceoff — if only for a second — with their nemesis.
But Bush’s entourage entered the Lancaster Host Resort through a back entrance, turning down a side street and avoiding his detractors.

The protesters yelled “Coward!” and “Loser!” and booed until the last car in the president’s procession vanished from sight.

“I think he’s very consistent with his cowardice,” Todd Baxter, 37, of Manheim Township, said. “He never sees us, so he thinks everyone supports him.”

Charles Lane, 72, a treasurer for Lancaster County Coalition for Peace and Justice, compared President Bush to Nicaraguan dictator Anastasio Somoza, who was so loathed he had to sneak in all public places through back entrances.

“I make the observation that Mr. Bush goes in the back way the same way the banana republic dictators have done for a long time,” he said, shaking his head in disgust.

      TROLL MITIGATION

I just sent a note to the site management asking them to establish an upper limit for suggestions to any particular thread. I recommended the number of contributions be limited to maybe five or seven per thread. Perhaps that number is too small, but I don’t think it needs to be much much larger for any legitimate user to express their views. Having a rather comprehensive knowledge of server software, I believe this would be the most expeditious method to bring this troll problem under control.

If you agree that this would be a useful method to clean out these viscious trolls, then send a comment to the management using the CONTACT US link. If enough of us agree to a accept a minimal degree of limitation, then we can greatly improve the quality of the dialogue with minimal restriction. In my opinion, having a forum for intelligent, open-minded discussion is just as important as the advance political information we receive from this site.

I truly appreciate the efforts of the Think Progress team to create this kind of site. My only intent here is to make it better.

      Sincerely yours, stonehinge

Juan, I agree entirely with your retort.

These poor neo-fascists don’t realize that the US economy is already a Communist system. Our financial and commodity markets have been manipulated by a central authority since the Reagan era. These fools can rant until the cows come home, but the US economy is clearly communistic by definition, and has been now for a long time.

The objective here is to help you realize that there are places designed for people just like you. For example, I’m sure you would be much more comfortable over on MySpace. You could still get off a few shots over here.

485 – factor in our healthcare costs to our taxes. If you add all the factors, the net is about the same, but Canada has universal coverage whereas in the United States an injury or illness is the single greatest cause of bankruptcy.

In order to have a valid argument comparing United States taxes and the taxes of other countries which provide universal health care you must add the total true cost of our health care system to our total tax bill. That would include things such as health insurance premiums and co-pays, out-of-pocket expenses…the list is really quite extensive. The “higher tax” argument is only effective with ignorant people. You might have better luck with it if you blogged on right-wing sites.

Since when do we want to attack anyone just because they are different? I know we ARE doing just that, but that’s because we are people and thereby plain evil, but it shouldn’t be the goal of our REASON, which is also human. I honestly can’t believe that you liberals believe this balderhash. Let me tell you a few things about the real world. George Bush was a very successful businessman, he never used drugs or alcohol, and he is only trying to help the working people with his economic policies. Take me, for instance. I am the CEO of a large Texas oil company, and I have to work a torrid week of 3 hours for my meager $14,000,000 salary. That’s barely enough to pay for my great grandkids to go to Harvard on!! And don’t forget about the 45 minute board meetings held on the first Tuesday of every month. They honestly expect me to attend these affairs and shake hands and hobnob with…..ordinary investors! Imagine my outrage! What I am trying to tell you is this, you working class swine, what we want to give you is hope…not a real job. Hell, if we gave you a real job you would want to be joining our country clubs and snorting dope with our daughters. George is just trying to set right the REAL WORLD ORDER through his very equitable policies. Remember, you working class swine, you can watch the party but you won’t be invited to join as long as WE REPUBLICANS ARE IN CONTROL!
