should i say it again?

this is the senator that took the lead in watering down anti-terror legislation in 1996 when clinton backed it. so when the “democrats had control” he was doing everything he could to prevent what he so ardently supports now.

note hatch’s words back then:

Hatch called Clinton’s proposed study of taggants — chemical markers in explosives that could help track terrorists — “a phony issue.”

“If they want to, they can study the thing” already, Hatch asserted. He also said he had some problems with the president’s proposals to expand wiretapping.

vs. his words in 2001:

“It is essential that we give our law enforcement authorities every possible tool to search out and bring to justice those individuals who have brought such indiscriminate death into our backyard”

and also this:

“They’re moaning and groaning in Congress because he didn’t abide by what’s called the FISA Act, the Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Act. That act is very important, but it was enacted in 1978 and it is not applicable to today’s world,” Hatch said. “The president is using every methodology that we know … to try to track down those al-Qaida people or people affiliated with al-Qaida.”

so he was against strong terror legislation before he was for it. thanks for looking after us when it mattered, senator.

also interesting is how the middle eastern terrorists had to wait for the republicans to take control before they could successfully launch a major attack. guess that throws that argument out the window.

You mean, like when they caught the Bush administration napping on 9/11?

#71: I doubt anybody will want the San Francisco treat, Nancy Pelosi, to be the Speaker of the House.

I'm not a huge Nancy Pelosi fan, but she'd be a massive improvement over Dennis Hastert or Tom DeLay or Newt Gingrich. I'd prefer Tom Allen or Henry Waxman, but Pelosi isn't an entirely bad choice.

Am I supposed to dislike Pelosi because she's from San Francisco? That seems like pretty thin reasoning.

BushCo tells us over and over that the terrorist's main goal is to kill Americans. So they accomodate the wishes of the terrorists by importing Americans, and as they are killed, BushCo sends 'refills' on a regular basis. And by making sure that our soldiers continue to be ill-equipped, BushCo gives aid to the terrorists, to make them look good. And now, by egging Israel on, they have done the same for Hezbollah. Way to go, BushCo.

Adam bombed back up in post 15:

"I think the American people are really sick of these assholes PLAYING politics with terrorism." (He failed to identify the source of the comment.)

Right after the London plot was foiled the Dems rushed out with a fresh web ad to try and exploit it politically.

Comment by Adam Baum — August 19, 2006 @ 12:51 pm

I see he agrees with us. As the original quote says "sick of the ASSHOLES (my emphasis)..."

It is not derogatorily "playing politics" by making known and exploiting the faults of one's opponent--that is damn good politicking. What is not good politicking is to claim credit for something that you had no knowledge of nor participation in as one's own while you were nursing a rectal-cranial insertion. I am sure that is what Adam bomb is doing now.

I see that up until the elections, the Roveslug and GOP is making sure these nonsense, irrational, fearmongering statements are made on a daily basis to scare democrats into not voting the republicans and Lieberman out of office.

Except that I think people are so sick and tired of hearing this nonsense, it alone is going to get people to the polls, so that they can shut them up already!

Any demonizing Democrats’ “plans” for Iraq at this point is a GOP ploy attempting to distract folks from the failed Bush Middle East policies. - Comment by Above the Clouds

Actually, the situation is a bit more discouraging than this, since Cheney has it covered every which way but Sunday. With this information from GlobalResearch.ca, it looks like we should expect to see the Second 911 Fraud just about any time now. That will be the trigger for a pre-emptive nuclear attack on Iran.

Former Generals: Bush Must Negotiate to Make America Safer
by Aaron Glantz

Twenty-one former generals and high ranking national security officials have called on United States President George W. Bush to reverse course and embrace a new area of negotiation with Iran, Iraq, and North Korea. In a letter released Thursday, the group told reporters Bush's "hard line" policies have undermined national security and made America less safe.

Twenty-one former generals and high ranking national security officials have called on United States President George W. Bush to reverse course and embrace a new area of negotiation with Iran, Iraq, and North Korea. In a letter released Thursday, the group told reporters Bush’s “hard line” policies have undermined national security and made America less safe.

The Saudis waited until Bush and his banana republicans got into office to attck the WTC....of course the Terrorists want more weak knee republicans in office..
And Diebold will help the terrorists keep the weaklings in office.
==
And that’s why we’ve contracted Diebold to rig elections across the country fro the good of the nation. --Jake

How many republican senators and representatives have you seen fighting terrorists?
NONE.
Senators and Reps will not keep you or anyone safe, at the first sign of trouble they will run to the underground bunkers...Secured by the Troops. Its the Armed Forces that will keep us safe, not BUSH, not Dick, Not the senators,,none of them.

For these clowns to try and say that they will make America safer, because they are republicans, and terrorists fear republicans, is so stupid it's funny. If this was true they wouldn't they have quit already? Why No!, Iraq gotten worse! Must be all that 'republican fear' making them attack our troops....right?

Someone tell me HOW a Republican hiding in a bunker, hugging his ass, makes any difference in National Security... Terrorists love weak wormy visionless Republicans like Bush and his courseless course.

Orrin, the bad guys aren't "waiting" for anything. They are doing a nice job of killing people and destroying a country right now, under your watch.

These words are past tense, just like the Republican party will be this November - past tense.

I doubt anybody will want the San Francisco treat, Nancy Pelosi, to be the Speaker of the House. Don't get your hopes up. The GOP will probably lose some seats, but they will still have their majority.
