Buchanan Argues For Immigration Moratorium To Preserve White Dominance
In his new book, State of Emergency, Pat Buchanan argues for “an immediate moratorium on all immigration.” Why? To preserve the dominance of the white race in America. Buchanan explains on pg. 11:
America faces an existential crisis. If we do not get control of our borders, by 2050 Americans of European descent will be a minority in the nation their ancestors created and built. No nation has ever undergone so radical a demographic transformation and survived.
Indeed, Buchanan argues quite explicitly that only whites have the appropriate “genetic endowments” to keep America from collapsing. From pg. 164:
In 1994, Sam Francis, the syndicated columnist and editorial writer for the Washington Times…volunteered this thought:
“The civilization that we as whites created in Europe and America could not have developed apart from the genetic endowments of the creating people, nor is there any reason to believe that the civilization can be successfully transmitted by a different people.”
Had Francis said this of Chinese civilization and the Chinese people, it would have gone unnoted. But he was suggesting Western civilization was superior and that only Europeans could have created it. If Western peoples perish, as they are doing today, Francis was implying, we must expect our civilization to die with us. No one would deny that when the Carthaginians perished, Carthaginian civilization and culture perished. But by claiming the achievements of the West for Europeans, Francis had passed beyond the bounds of tolerance. He was summarily fired.
Buchanan goes on to praise those who, implicitly or explicitly, talk about the genetic superiority of the white race, including John Rocker of the Atlanta Braves, Bell Curve authors Richard Hernstein and Charles Murray, and Al Campanis of the Los Angeles Dodgers. (Campanis said that blacks “may not have the necessities to be, let’s say, a field manager, or, perhaps, a general manager.” He added that blacks were often poor swimmers “because they don’t have the buoyancy.”)
Buchanan calls Francis views on white racial superiority the “Great Taboo.” But refusing to acknowledge it, according to Buchanan, is “like not telling one’s doctor of a recurring pain that could kill you.”
Buchanan has been showered with attention from cable and network television to spread his book’s message.

Joking aside, it has a very good history of Africa, in which you will learn that the history Africa is completely misunderstood by the pretty much everyone. By lumping all of Africa into one thing, you ignore the prosperity of different countries. It’s like says Europe has never boomed because you only ever heard about eastern European countries like Romania (a very white country, BTW).

Well, true enough when applied to North America and the original inhabitants of this country. That great “white” European culture (invasion) pretty much wiped these people out. They were considered savage, uncivilized and less than human. Some argue that black and spanish people are not enrolled in higher education because of racism, that racism keeps them out. Others argue it is because they really don’t care and are simply not pushed by their families and peers to become educated. Education is looked down on and is thus not pursued. Personally, I am in the latter catagory. I studied Sociology and bought into all sorts of ‘racism keeps people down’ crap, until I moved to a big city and began to interact with minorities regularly as part of my job. Now, I truly believe that a majority of minorities simply don’t care, their belief system is different than the majority of whites I know. And that belief system fails to push for advancement. This outlook will not help to promote the positive growth of society. Though it will create a lot more sheeple.

There is a limit to the number of people from elsewhere our culture can absorb, and every other nation recognizes this. The problem isn’t necessarily with enforcement, or how high the fence at our southern border is, or whether said fence covers 100% of the border’s length (plus the portion of the Pacific Ocean we claim as ours). It is with our government’s inability and unwillingness to restrain American businesses from hiring illegal immigrants. Go after employers, and you’ll see enforcement of border integrity become LOTS easier.

August 22nd, 2006 at 3:36 pmBuchanan and others like him can’t see past their own inherent racism to construct a correct and reasonable argument—that it is CULTURE, not ethnicity, that has built our civilization. When the founding fathers took principles of the Enlightenment and made the case for founding a new secular nation based on individual liberty and citizens’ rights, that established a culture which was handed down from ideas that were made popular in Europe. And we have plenty of European-Americans among us who seem to have little respect for these same Enlightenment ideals or who are actively fighting against them because they want the state to be fused with the church…THEIR church! We also have plenty of non-whites who are a part of this culture who recognize the gifts of ideas and traditions handed down from Europe and early America, who intellectually understand and appreciate this culture and are ready to defend it. I happen to be one of them. I do fear that Western culture is losing itself by admitting way too many refugees and other immigrants from parts of the world who have no understanding or appreciation of our culture, or what it means to have a liberal democracy where the church and state are separate. Look what happened in Denmark a few months ago–the cartoons, whether offensive or not, should have been regarded by ALL Danish citizens and residents as protected free speech. End of story. We in the West need to begin giving our own citizens some basic civics lessons about democracy and the founding Enlightenment ideals, and also require them of anybody who wants to immigrate. If we allow our culture to be attacked from within by religious fascists who we allowed to immigrate here, then we have a lot to be sorry for. And “WE” is all members of Western culture: white, black, Asian, Hispanic, etc. It is our ideas that make us great, not members of any one ethnic group (as well represented that ethnic group may be among our founders and leaders).

Well, I’m “white” and I personally do not live in a “white” world. I am also a Muslim and maybe that means I’m not really “white.” How ridiculous this topic is. What color are your eyes, your hair, your skin? Where did your grandfather come from? Who really cares? My world is multiethnic and I can honestly say that I don’t think about it very much. I, for one, will be glad when I can see that the United States Government reflects the reality that I see every day at my job, in my shopping, in my daily life: THAT THIS IS A MULTIETHNIC country. and I say, “THANK GOD FOR THAT!” Guess what Pat Buchanan? I don’t completely agree with Pat on this but he is correct somewhat, I think what he is trying to get at is that this massive influx of immigrants, legal or otherwise, is dilluting our national sense of self. We have had large groups of immigrants come in at various points in our history, but never this many, this fast, with no end in sight.
One of the contributing factors to the collapse of the Roman Empire was this very thing, people took less and less pride in being “Roman” and didn’t care to put forth the effort to keep it going. The essence of what Rome was founded on was lost, and Pat feels we could be facing the same problem here.

Normally we agree on most political topics, but immigration is one of those testy subjects (He’s white, I’m Hispanic). He said he was afraid because he heard white people would be a minority by 2050 and that whites would be persecuted.
Most projections for 2050 have the demographic breakdown in the US something like this: 49% white, 25% Hispanic, 18% African American, 9% other. Yes, white people will not make up more than 50% of the population anymore, but I don’t consider white people to be a minority when they “outnumber” every other ethnic group 2:1. So shut up about it.

Let me make this clear! Mexicans march to take back their territory, not to immigrate or become Americans. President Bush stands as a preeminent fool if he thinks they want to speak English and swear allegiance to the United States.

What is our dangerous future? Where once immigration furnished men and women for building a nation, today, illegal and unrestricted mass immigration make a few wealthy at the expense of American citizens. Our own corporations ‘outsource’, ‘offshore’ and ‘insource’ jobs to Third World countries–thus leaving American citizens in unemployment lines.
Our own Congress renewed the H-1B and H-2B visas, which gave 890,000 American jobs in the past 10 years to foreigners. The recent Senate Bill 2611 jumped work visas into limitless numbers. Little wonder our Middle Class augurs into the ground like a plane that lost its wings.
I repeat from a former column–25 Americans suffer death by illegal aliens daily. Not one single U.S. Senator addresses that fact. Only Peter Gadiel, Carol Goodman, John Vizzi, Bonnie Eggle, Officer Don Young’s wife and thousands of Americans understand the pain of such deaths by illegals.
The INS freed illegal alien Malvo who promptly killed 17 Americans. Did Cheney’s daughter suffer death by Malvo or Bush’s two daughters or any of Condi Rice’s relatives? Not a chance. We become collateral damage by our elected officials ignoring their oaths of office. After 9/11, any sane, sensible and vigilant president would have blanketed our borders with Mexico with troops and set up major efforts on the Canadian border.
What has Bush done for six years after 9/11? He’s openly encouraged millions of illegal aliens to cross our borders. For this, we American citizens reap the whirlwind of diseases, crime, destroyed schools, overrun hospitals and deaths.
Additionally, we’ve got a $700 billion annual trade deficit. Wal-Mart buys 90 percent of its goods from China and other Third World countries as it seals the fate of America’s working class-NO MANUFACTURING JOBS LEFT FOR OUR CITIZENS. Thus, we slide into Third World Momentum. What is that term?
A citizen from China earns an average of 22 cents an hour. Why? Because an endless supply of them numbering 1.3 billion guarantees a slave working class! What does that mean for you? As Bush adds millions of immigrants into America, take a guess!
In the cultural realm of a First World Country, do we need rituals where a baby girl has her sexual being cut out of her in the form of ‘clitorectomy’? Can we afford everyone wearing a mask for driver’s license pictures? Can we afford losing our English language and become the Tower of Babel? Do we condone, by being politically correct, ‘cock fighting’ and ‘horse tripping’ brought to us by Third World cultures? What about the new strain of tuberculosis spreading across America because illegal immigrants work in fast food and hotels? It’s called MDR TB (multiple drug resistant) and has no cure. According to a report in the M.J. News titled: ‘THE PATIENT PREDATOR: TUBERCULOSIS’ by Kevin Patterson, 16,000 cases of this strain of tuberculosis migrated from Mexico in the past four years. Illegal immigrants’ children number over one million in our public schools. If your children contract it at school, will they survive? Two million TB deaths worldwide annually don’t bode well.
California citizens die in emergency rooms because hospitals are overrun with immigrants who can’t pay. Because of no family planning in their countries of origin, this endless line of immigrants is pushing us toward 200 million added people vying for diminishing resources past the mid century.
Do you think Bush or Congress address this impending national population nightmare? Hardly! They jumped legal immigration from 1.1 million annually to 2.0 million in Senate Bill 2611.
Fellow Americans, I’m going to research and write a series of columns in September that deal with the consequences of adding 100 million people to the United States by 2040, a mere 34 years from now. USA TODAY brought decisive evidence in a front page story on our current 300 million by October and our impending added 100 million in 34 years.
I’ve already seen those numbers manifested in my world travels. I’m going to show you what’s coming. Whose country is this, anyway? It won’t be yours or your kids for much longer if you fail to act.

Actually, no. Buchanan pretends to be the descendant of Irish Catholics, but is actually of Irish Protestant descent. That’s a big difference, historically. Irish Protestants (like my ancestors) were considered high-skilled, highly educated, orderly and desirable immigrants.

The problem is the knee jerk reaction that is taken from his views.
Many People, who happen to be ‘non white’ in America have adopted to the culture of the ‘White European’ culture that has formed the United States.
But many more are not adopting, or assimilating to the culture of the Designers of the United States, all of whom happen to be of European Decent.
So, in 50 years, if the majority of the United States is following a culture that is not of European Decent, then in fact, you have the decline of dominance that will transform the overall make up of this country. This will result in different values overtaking the legal justice system, the voting system, and political leaders.
Now, some might say ’so what’, but I challenge every person that happens to be of ‘non-white’ background to move to a ‘white neighborhood’ and conform to the culture of that town, and keep your opinions and complaints to yourself if you don’t like what you see, hear or experience.
Then, I challenge all those who are ‘white european’ people that are offended by Pat’s viewpoint to move to neighborhoods that are dominated by cultures other than ‘white european’ and keep your opinions and complaints to yourself while you ‘absorb’ a culture that many would find not only intolerable, but outright disgusting.
Then, when you do either, and conform, then and only then can you make judgement on the point that Pat Buchanan is making.
Also, let’s not forget that it was the ‘White European’ that came to this continent, made agreements with the American Indians, and then disputed those agreements… and solved the disputes by KILLING most of the American Indians, and throwing the rest in interment camps!
Yes, America needs to keep its European Dominance to maintain it’s level of superiority, otherwise it will fall in 50 years from what it is known today. The real question is, if in falling will it transform..

The Roman Empire fell due to several years of civil wars, and the lack of funds for recruiting, arming the legions that would keep the neighboring tribes from invading and taking over -which is what eventually happened. No, it was not a simple population replacement, but an actual armed invasion and conquest. The people at the top were replaced by Gothic Kings.

Etc. In more recent times, we have seen large numbers of East (and to a lesser extent South) Asians –groups which have done very well.
Mr. Buchanan’s reasoning reminds me of a study of Ashkenazi Jews done in the early 20th century. The author concluded that Ashkenazi Jews were an exceptionally stupid people, who would never do well in America.
Of course, Buchanan being Buchanan, he no doubt wishes this had proved the case.

I’ve also been watching him act the pundit for probably around 15 years (since early Crossfire days). I gotta say, I really like what he has to say about alot of topics. For one, any modern Republican with the strength to disagree publicly with the Bush Admin (from the start) deserves some credit. Also, in the above book, he did a fantastic job of describing the history of terrorism, and of the rise of Islam from a scholarly perspective, without the kind of hate and irrationality that would be expected of a Conservative Christian Author.
If there is a part of his position disturbing to me, it is his Racial / Religious / Cultural viewpoint. It doesn’t suprise me to see the above statements by him, though I will have to read the book to see the rest of the context, and other assorted details that he provides.
He fears for American Culture in the face of massive illegal (and legal)immigration… certainly when discussing such issues, great care must be taken in picking the right words. It looks like he may have made some bad choices in this book.

Aztecs had a great, great culture. They build great pyramids, knew a lot about astronomy, medicine, and arts. Instead of having cattle (the biggest animal was the guajolote, like a turkey) they had to manage themselves the transport of goods across the land. Very strong people, check the marathons. Yeah, they did sacrifices, just as the Inquisition killed people by the thousands in Europe. No difference at all. No group of people is wonderful and caring…but that doesnt mean it should be that way.

We forget that Franklin, though having been a “runaway” himself (from indentured servitude to his own brother), owned slaves for nearly 50 years and never systematically divested himself of them. We forget that he profited from the slave trade (through advertisements for runaways in his publications and otherwise), that he complained about slaves joining the British army in the 1740s and 1750s (thus unjustly depriving their owners of their property), and that he defended slaveholding rebels during the Revolution.
My point is do not sanctify people. People make mistakes. You can write Founding Fathers with all the capital letters you want, they were common people who made mistakes. They created US as a palitocracy. Check the word out.

Unlike in other countries where there is a large degree of uniformity of race, of background, and of culture, the United States by its very nature has not had that. It has been a nation of immigrants for a long time, and our identity has less to do with our background, ethnicity or race, but more on “American-ness”. A second generation immigrant (like myself) although we have a strong awareness of a different culture, are as “American” as can be.
The way we talk, dress, who we identify with…ask a foreign person and they will tell you that we are Americans no doubt about that.
What we share is this abstract idea of “being American”, we all learn and hold American values, and respect for the COnstitution…Is Buchanan suggesting that those Western values (that have become our values as “Americans”) is trasnmited soley by genetics? Ask Ronald Reagan’s Council of Economic Advisers — they are the ones who told him that the number one impetus for the Reagan-era wave of Central American immigration to the US were the civil wars we caused and supported. And the number one reason for Reagan’s “Amnesty” was that the money sent back home from the employeed refugees kept the economies going for Reagan’s monstrous right-wing government friends throughout Central America — El Salvador, Guatemala, Honduras.
This is not a request to give US taxpayers’ money to Latin America and the Caribbean. It’s just a request to stop screwing these people and countries over and finally let them develop in a healthy way.

Buchanan certainly isn’t the kind of monster racist some of you on this board paint him out to be. At the heart of the book people is OUR BROKEN BORDERS and the 2 MILLION people entering into this country ILLEGALLY each year. Right now there’s anywhere between 12-20 million immigrants living in the U.S, 1 in 12 with a criminal record. The amount of immigrants that are NOT coming from Mexico (read Middle East…) has tripled from under 50,000 in 2003 to over 150,000 in 2005. Anyone else see a problem? Anyhow, so far I gotta admit I’ve pretty impressed with the book

I live in So Cal and I see the hospitals closing from abuse by illegals. The fact 30% of the criminals in Cali jails are illegals. How many Mexicans, Brazilains, Chinese, Russians, etc. want to come to the USA? Can we accomodate them all? Are the open borders a good thing for America? And if you speak Spanish, you know how many of the illegals from South of the Border feel about America. 1)Francine Busby lost because of immigration. No, she didn’t. It did not motivate more conservatives to come vote, nor did it play a significant role in the election. Don’t overplay immigrations power to pull votes – even in San Diego for gods sake. I think MyDD handled that one particularly well
2) Allusions to the crime that immigrants bring (and I am including illegal immigrants). Wrong, in fact they have lower crime rates than ANY native born population. Its American born natives of all types – including the children of the immigrants – who commit the crimes, not immigrants so save it.
3)There are studies that suggest that immigration in all its forms (legal/illegal) has infact contributed to increasing the wages of all but the lowest skilled workers, and plays a near insignificant role in decreasing that groups wages.
You can chalk most of it on rising healthcare cost, inflation-related decreases in the min. wage etc…Immigration is good for the US and the economy. So please save this, “They are a drag on US tax payers and the US economy” crap. Its not true. BTW, ALL immigrants pay taxes dolts. Most have fake SS# and so their pay is taxed and in fact they do not get that money back in benefits because they are illegal.
4) Immigrants are not behind the health care crisis. Read it folks.
5) Are immigrants Taking American’s jobs though?: Studies show that immigrant workers for the most part do not. There are a variety of reason for that if you follow the link.
What else are people misinformed on? Even alot of Democrats and Liberals are misinformed about the illegal/legal immigration facts. These are all links to studies, or to a page with my comments that links to the studies.

That said, I do like my Western Culture. It is a culture born of centuries of screwing up, from the Catholic Church being in control of everything (And handily demonstrating why Religion+Government is a bad mix) to our extensive use of slavery (And figuring out that not only is it wrong, its more expensive then grossly exploiting the same people as workers.)
We moved from the society of might being right towards right making might. We killed a lot of people and then figured out that genocide is bad, we practiced a lot of superstition and then figured out that science actually works better. As a culture the West may suck on the face of its history, but we learn from that history.
And right now, we are learning that paleo-conservativism+Government doesn’t work. They want us to unlearn the lessons of the past, and that simply isn’t who we are. We don’t want to go back to the wild west, heck we don’t even want to go back to the eighties. We want to move forward remembering what we did wrong before, and yes, learning lessons from mistakes made by others, because so long as we do that tomorrow will be better then today.

The real reason why the Roman Empire fell was that the emperor could no longer control the empire. He made a deal with the Goths, where he promised them food and land, and what happened was the border legions ignored the deal and started taking massive advantage of the Goths.
Further, the Christian faith of the Roman emperors was a contrabuting factor, you see when the Roman Empire began its fall the Roman Church quite characteristically did a Pat Robertson on them, it blamed the people who were getting killed for it rather then calling for anything to be done. You will note the same shit happened with NO, except there it was quantified as being purely Ellen Degeneres’ fault.
Further, the Romans ignored the fact that the rest of the world around them was quickly achieving technological equity, the guys who chopped Rome to bits served in the Roman Army and knew how to make Roman swords. They had a dangerous paring of thinking of their empire as God’s appointed and taking their legions for granted. You have the same thing now on the left you have the idea that America’s army can lose if it isn’t careful, on the right you have the vision of invulnerability that inevitably leads to bad things happening.
Lastly you had the Romans themselves. You see for centuries the Romans considered anyone with citizenship to be a Roman. They didn’t particularly care if you were originally a Egyption or a Cananite, if you had citizenship you were a Roman, then the Romans got racist. They started treating people like they were second class simply because they belonged to a different tribe. This annoyed the Tribes enough (it wasn’t just the Goths but just about everyone who didn’t like Rome who turned) to destroy Rome.

In the excerpt he goes so far as to quote with approval another writer who specifically says European superiority is genetic, so there’s no doubt we’re talking out-and-out racism. I guess Pat may have finally realized he’s too old and too full of bile to ever get elected President, so he’s free to say whatever he really thinks.
I’m not too frightened by undisguised racism. What scares me is the suspicion that Pat’s opinions — which even in the raw are popular with a great many Americans — could be REALLY popular if they were just gussied up a little (e.g., if in calling for the preservation of our European cultural identity he’d been quick to counter the inevitable charges of racism). See, I believe there are a great many voters who completely share Pat’s desire to keep America white, Christian and English-speaking but who are adamant that they are NOT racists. They’d go wild for a candidate who said what they thought while assuring them they were not hate-mongering racist scumbags.
To me, Buchanan has always represented about one half of the ideal populist 3rd party candidate — the anti-Washington, anti-free trade, anti-deficit, moralistic, family values, nativist, flag-waving half — in short, the right half, the George Wallace half. He lacked the left half — the visionary, anti-corruption, anti-Big Brother, anti-MilitaryIndustrial Complex, anti-corporation, pro-worker, pro-consumer half — the Huey Long/Jerry Brown/Ralph Nader half.
Considering that the Democrats have yet to show that they can pick up the confidence that the Republicans have lost over the past couple of years, 2008 might provide a perfect opportunity for a strong independent candidate, and given the current climate an isolationist, protectionist, anti-immigration, anti-world and — quietly — racist platform might be just the ticket. (I have no idea what what the pool of xenophobic, monomaniacal billionaires is like at the moment, though.)

I’m not sure why the right wingers who say they oppose big government and who say they support the free market are always asking the government to do something for them rather than let the free market handle it. If Pat really believes his own philosophy, why not let in all the immigrants who want to come until the free market demand for labor in the US and the free market demand for jobs in Latin American finally balance out.

Why not have an amalgamation of the US and Mexico? Neither should annex the other, but an amalgamation of equals would immediately solve what many consider to be a serious problem — illegal immigration. Plus we would have a much smaller souther border to defend, and states such as TX, NM, AZ, and southern CA would be better off for having lost their border status.

Indeed the Californios welcomed the increasing demand (and higher prices) for housing. And since they were all subject to the same tax systems — real estate, sales, income — nobody could complain that the newcomers failured to support the local or national government while being a drag on the social services, health care, schools, etc. Indeed, doctors, grocers, car dealers, and everyone else — just like the real estate brokers — welcomed the expanded demand for their goods and services.
This amalgamation should at first be limited to the US and Mexico, but might later be expanded to other Latin American countries if they continue to send us “illegal immigrants”. We should never open it to Canada. We need Canada as a nearby guide and model for our collective conscious.

The key is perception, and race is based on perception not science. Genetic grouping through genetic screening is not the same as racial profiling, and race does not scientifically exist. Tribe exists, this means the tall blondes are of a different race, than the short redheads. Just because you share a skin color, it does not mean you come from the same tribe, or the same gene pool. The majority of whites (and blacks), as well as hispanics, are inter-racial mixed breeds genetically, but they label themselves based on whatever label they look most like regardless of what their genes actually are. So the stereotypes based on white and black arent real because there is no such thing as the white race or the black race, because we all know there are different breeds of white, and different breeds of black.
Bill Cosby and Kobe Byrant are not the same breed of black. Bill Maher and Mel Gibson are not the same breed of white. You can look at them and say they both have white skin, but their traits are different, their personalities are different, how they think is completely different, how they feel is different, they look different, sound different, act different, and have different addictions. If you group people based on how they act and what they are addicted to, you’ll be more accurate than if you group people at a glance. Racial profiling is just intellectual laziness, and that intellectual laziness trait is not just in blacks, as we have whites who are intellectually lazy as well.
Fact: Appearance only makes up at best 15% of a persons genetic code, leaving 85% behind.
How can anyone make an accurate definition of a person based on 15% of them? Racists ignore personality traits, and everything else because they are aestheticists, not simply racists. An aestheticist cares more about the outside appearance and visual of something than the substance or core of something. If you only use your eyes, you don’t know what race really is.

Much of Africa has been one long looting by other countries. From gems to minerals to people, they have been taken advantage of – nonstop. I’m black, but I want America to remain dominantly white. And no, its not “racist” to want that. Its important we think long and hard about what a shrinking white population would mean for America. If the white population shrinks to minority status, would white-only clubs and schools become permissible as other minority ones currently are?
Will we now allow white organizations the equivalent of La Raza to advocate for “European American” causes? Would we outlaw affirmative action since those “oppresive” whites are no longer the majority? Indeed, if hispanics become the majority race, should we have affirmative action for minority whites?
Like it or not, a minority white population will make the “white supremacist” proponents difficult to mitigate against. Indeed, a shrinking white population will make them more popular among whites. Why shouldn’t they, like other minority groups have the right to organize behind their race?
On ABC’s primetime, we saw the Prussian Blue twins and their hate music. Like it or not, we’ll see more of that sort with a shrinking white population, as more and more of them become intimidated by their shrinking population. I heard the hate music, but couldn’t complain because hate music by many black artists are just as disgusting and racist.
As we all become more aware of our race, so begins the end of America as we know it, and so begins the rise of social disintegration.
I know its fashionable for the elites to pretend there isn’t a growing conflict between blacks and hispanics in America today, but there is an increasing anti-hispanic momentum in black communities being flooded by illegal hispanic aliens who compete for their jobs and drive down wages for them.
One reason why I rarely read ancient history – especially that of once great powers, is that the parallels with America is soooo obvious. Like the Romans, and Greeks, and Persians and Brits and French, we are been blinded by greed and ideology to see that our country is balkanizing. It doesn’t help that we have an increduible foolish president, a foolish man who can’t think beyound big-business and short term profits.
Here in America we have people born and bred here that can’t speak english and can’t communicate effectively with members of other ethnic groups. We have American born individuals who hate this country, and think of another as their sole allegiance.
The elites will be proven wrong, but not before we will start hearing separatist cries from the hispanic community, and democratic referenda for break ups of the South West, just like in Canada and spain.
So stop harassing the messenger, and pay heed to the message before its too late.

September 2nd, 2006 at 6:51 amI’m all for treating each person as a worthy and unique individual (unless proven otherwise). And, I think there are more differences within races than between races.
Having said that, it also can’t be ignored that most (but not all) of the “best” places to live in the world have a majority of Caucasian/European-descended people. This is well proven by looking at those countries where people risk everything to either immigrate, or failing that, to sneak in (Switzerland, France, USA, Sweden, Australia, New Zealand, Holland, Denmark, Norway, Belgium). On the other hand, from where do people risk everything to escape? The answer here is more mixed, with respresentatives from each of the world’s groups. So, all groups are capable of creating a mess and there are many examples – while there are relatively few “garden spots” and the common denominator (for whatever reason) seems to be Europeans and other Caucasian-descended peoples like many of those from India, Russia, certain South American coutries like Argentina or Costa Rica, and many parts of the Middle East (an area of great mixture) – so it’s anything but simple.
Can only “white” people create nice places? I didn’t say that exactly. But, most of those things we would consider as foundations of the modern world (for better or worse) were invented by “White” people – thus their exalted place in society and the world was at least partially earned (and greatly misused IMHO for war and the like). Perhaps this is all changing, but for now just look it up: electricity, internal combustion engines, cars, airplanes, telephones, computers, the Internet (95% of these were invented by Caucasians).
Despite the statements made by Pat Buchanan (insensitve, but not 100% untrue), he was also one of very few conservatives to oppose BOTH of our Wars on the Iraqi people (1991 and 2003)!! And, is not military aggression upon civilian populations one of the greatest of all racist offenses (see Abu-Gharib and Guantanamo [aka Camp X-Ray]). Think about it…
In the same way I began this, I’m for treating all people “as if” they were the same – because they are close enough for courtesy to trump other concerns, on a personal level and certainly in the daily routine. On a historical level, there are interesting questions that, for now, may not be asked.

Again, I’m very sorry Mexico has a poor economy. But PLEASE do not brng it over here. The fact is the economy has crashed in California. The state is broke. The Illegals coming over the border are putting too great a strain on the local economy. In some area the state can not even afford to do road work to patch holes. My wife and I were driving our new car on the freeway in California. We hit a huge hole and the tire blew up, the rim exploded. We were lucky to escape with our lives. You would’ve had to have seen the ‘pit in the road’ to believe it. And we weren’t the only ones having this problem. The California roads are peppered like this. We have people coming over here abusing our welfare system, taking Jobs, basically sucking our economy drive. I can hear the big sucking sound coming from Mexico. Native Americans understand what Pat is talking about all too well at least in terms of being outnumbered—they will of course argue the meaning of survived, for they certainly have survived. What is really sick in this article is that Pat revels something even more sinister, he assumes that when whites are outnumbered that the POC, in particular Latinos/Chicanos, will do exactly what his ancestors did to us. I doubt it since I am certain my genetic code doesn’t have a site for genocide and harming other humans just for the sake of having far more (of anything) than I could possibly use in one lifetime. Of course Pat also ignores just where the technology came from to “build” European society–killing and taking other peoples ideas (the number Zero, or stuff from the Indus Valley, not to mention China) is not an indicator of intellectual superiority, but it many be an argument a desire to kill and steal. I really don’t believe any one group is more violent than another genetically, no more than I believe any one group of people is smarter, whatever that is, than another group of people. Pat should really avoid this argument and besides the historical record is quite clear that ALL peoples of the world have contributed to what we call civilization.

This made me laugh outloud!!! What a great and simple sentence–puts things right into perspective for us Humans. My personification of evolution would be her being totally bored with her play things and from time to time removing them, in a very cavilier way, from her little exibition piece–earth. We really need to enjoy this thing called life and not waste the short time with who doesn’t belong etc. since we as humans have no Real say in the matter at all. So how about learning from one another—that seems like a more fun way to expience this short life.

Jon, I don’t think folks who posted here are missing what you put is the “real issue”. It is clear from many posts that they too are concerned about immigration AND anyone who can read knows that Mexico has a more depressed economy than the USA. What is problematic is that one has NO reason to introduce Race into the argument beyond the reporting on demography. You probably don’t consider yourself a racist so be careful who you jump into bed with on the Immigration Issue (a valid debate) and those who would hitch onto your agenda a racist rhetoric which will only cloud the debate with crazy emotion. I too live in CA, we need some new ways of thinking about Immigration–a fair exercise examining workers rights, farm labor, our healthcare system, etc. So called illegal immigrants can stay because they can work, and they have jobs because AMERICANS–citizens give them jobs–no jobs: no illegal immigrants. I went to an Ivy leauge college on an affirmative action acceptance program. While in college I recieved numerous government grants which paid every single expence of attending school. When I graduated I recieved a lucrative government set-aside contract.
I started a business with government (tax dollar) grants. I now own several business’s in an all black community. I employ over 200 people, 98% minority (black and hispanic).
I have a 6 figure yearly income, high 6 figures. I make annual donations to the NAACP, ACLU, and several other “liberal” and minority oriented organizations.
I live in a very exclusive gated community, where average housing prices are a million dollars or better. Here’s the kicker…I live around “all” whites! Guess what…I’m married to a white women! In case you’re wondering… YES everything I just told you is completely true.
As long as you preserve white dominance, expect more and more blacks like me to begin to break the cycle of ignorance. Every day I take at least one black young person and instruct them on how to utilize government resources and affirmative action to become as successful as myself. I believe by 2025 you will begin to see larger percentages (maybe 30%) of big business’s in the U.S. owned or operated by blacks. That will translate into a 30% reduction in poverty in the black population, and perhaps a 30-40% increase in black education levels. More black politicians, maybe even a black president of the United States!

Presently we have seen a new styled thrust by many on the conservative “right” to point out the problems in the black community. Granted, there are some who really want to improve some of the conditions that plauge the black community. Yet there are those (far to many I might add) that are simply covert racist seeking to promote an agenda for political gain (such as Buchanan).
Yes, I used all avenues available to me AS AN AMERICAN to succeed in this society. Yes I used A.A. programs to educate myself. I recieved grants, scholarships and government loans. Why should’nt I use a “set-aside?” It was there for me. Honestly, why should anyone, black or white, not take advantage of an opportunity to succeed? I now employ over 175 people whom I try to inspire to become entrepreneurs and business owners. And just as any other businessman, I take advantage of all LEGAL incentives to continually grow my business. Yet, the fact still remains, I WORKED AND STUDIED HARD FOR EVERYTHING I HAVE.
Many your neo-conservative freinds and pundits “resent” how I made my way. They believe programs such as A.A. makes the people the programs are meant for “lazy” and forges a complaisantly among those who recieve the help. I’m sure there are some who have abused the privilege, though that can’t negate that fact that “many” have used A.A. and done well. (Clearance Thomas, Supreme Court Justice, attributes his education and oppotunity to A.A.)

So now, idiots like you resent the fact the some blacks (and statistically very few I might add) have used what was available to them to make a better life for themselves and their communities. For example, take a look at whats called the “Edge Cities” (aka; suburbia) in many metropolitian areas throughout America. In places like Southfield, Michigan and the suburbs of Atlanta, North Carolina ect… Affirmative Action has made a difference in the make-up of these areas. Most of these area’s are booming economically on the strenght of black dollars.
What you need is a injection of common sense, then you will see what I am telling you is correct and true. As I stated earlier, I am not a racist nor prejudiced against anyone. I live in a majority white suburb and I have a “white” wife and “white” in-laws. My children are half white. Why is it that when a black demonstrates anger that sometimes leads to anti-social behavior, factors outside his immediate family circle are blamed, that is, whites and mainstream society? Here’s what Jesse Peterson has to say about such exoneration:
While, as I’ve noted, the inflammatory rhetoric of racial provocateurs is a major cause of black rage today, there is also a family factor at work. In my own life, the anger and fury I carried around with me everywhere I went–which, for many years, I directed at white people–was primarily the product of being abandoned by my father. I hated and resented him for leaving me; I hated and resented my mother for hating him; and I hated and resented both of them together for not succeeding as a family. It was my fragmented and troubled family life that was the basic source of my hostility and discontent. As a young man, I translated that into racial rage because that gave me a feeling–however false–of self-control and power. By hating white people and being angry at America, I avoided the pain of facing my resentment of my parents, and my hurtful awareness of how they failed me. I missed not having a father to love me and nurture me into manhood. In his place, I accepted hostility toward others, particularly whites–those who my community had taught me were the origin of my suffering as a black man in America.
It is disconcerting but true: black leaders exploit the family problems of black people, especially black people’s poor relations with their fathers. Family pain in the backgrounds of many black people is the foundation, the real fuel for power, for race men. They use blacks’ internal resentment of their parents, particularly their fathers, to help generate anger at white people and American culture.
That’s why you don’t see a massive, overwhelming effort on the part of black leaders to rescue the institution of black fatherhood, which–with about 70% of black births out-of-wedlock–is plainly nearing extinction. Civil rights groups don’t emphasize the centrality of the family to black progress, but rather the value of government initiatives and group identity. Allen, I consider myself a Conservative. Although I cannot agree with your characterzations, I must point out that some Conservatives have aligned themselves with the far right. You do seem honest in your beliefs, although they may be they misguided via partisian politics. I can’t blame you for “taking advantage” of minoirty offered programs. I can blame you for not speaking out against the unfair practice. Special programs offered to any paricular race is wrong. I do believe you have been honest in your talking points and that you hold no racial bias, at least from what I have read.
Steve, I will be honest with you. Allen has made several points which you have not directly addressed. I understand your frustration when debating racial preference issues. When you respond by name calling not backed up with substance you tend to lose sight of the arguement. It is never good to quote a printed article and not site the author. If that was your intent, it is a cheap shot.

As far as speaking out against or having a disfavor for so-called “government set-aside” programs, I can only have gratitude because without them I would not have a college education and a thriving “independent” business. As you stated, “you can’t blame me for taking advantage”, as I would never make an issue of anyone who takes advantage of an opportunity to succeed.
Steve tries to paint a picture of a “government dependent welfare recipient” lying around all day smoking crack. Thats what he thinks of all black people in general. His clouded train of thought, [of which he recieved from far-right indoctrination] frowns upon any minority person who take advantage of government offered programs. What he intentionally avoids is the fact that many of the individuals who utilize these programs become successful and prosperous business-people, doctors, lawyers, judges, politicians and the like. These are the things he despises, self sufficient black and other minority folks.
To Steve: Black people don’t have to dance, sing or dribble a basketball to be successful. I know thats where your head is when it comes to blacks. What wrong have I done? Not being a good “ni–er” and do as the neo-con would have me to do.
Look at it this way, Michael Jordan (though he did’nt recieve monies directly from the government) attended a “state government” supported school and did’t pay a “dime” for the education he received. His athletic abilities made UNC millions. Afterward he went on to make, and earn billions for himself and many large corporations. Colonialization was about power not race. If the indians had clipper ships and cannons they would have been doing the colonizing. The leftist press always make the native american scene sound like a peace and love campout.

One idea we never hear – if the current generation of immigrants is so wonderful – why don’t they fix their own countries instead of trying to change ours??
Political Correctness seems to be like a HIV virus to the democratic form of government. The problem with democracy is that it’s so short term in focus and the government really can’t say no to anyone. Ploitical correctness doesn’t actually kill your country but it knocks out the normal defenses against things like massive immigration.
The last inflamatory but true thing I will say is about “bandwagoning”. Blacks and Native Americans have historical beefs. Why, then, should someone getting off the boat from Iraq have preferences for scholarships and student aid versus my son when I’ve paid taxes for 20 years?
Lot’s of groups are jumping on the “minority” bandwagon as a way of recieving benefits. We don’t owe these other groups a thing.
Right now the lefties thing that nothing can change. Quick demographic change is irreversible and the majority will just sit down passively and go away.
All I can say is who, in 1981, imagined the fall of the Soviet Union. Things can change quickly and suddenly. Europeans need to stop apologizing, regrow a spine, reclaim pride, and stand up for their interests.
This isn’t about racisim. It’s about healthy pride that other ethnicities all take for granted.

I’m glad to hear your point of view. I have mixed feelings, from two perspectives that really tear me apart, on immigration from Mexico. On the one hand, I taught ESL (English as a Second Language) for four years in Anaheim. I had students from many countries. And I found the Mexican students, almost without exception, to be courteous, generous, hard-working, warm, family-oriented people who would be the people to help anyone in need. Many of them worked two jobs and came to class utterly exhausted, but, determined to learn English. A couple of days ago I saw an accident on the freeway. A car had flipped over in the car pool lane and police hadn’t arrived, so several cars were parked on the inside edge, where they were trying to get people out of the car and tend to people on the ground. Almost every helper I saw was Hispanic — which didn’t surprise me.
On the other hand… In the city I live in, I now hear more Spanish than English spoken on the street and in shops. The radio is now dominated by Ranchera and Hispanic pop and hip-hop — it’s hard to find a station in English sometimes that comes through clear. There are two clothing shops in town, one primarily Anglo, the other Mexican. The Anglo one is pretty quiet; but in the Mexican one children run wild in the aisles, yelling or crying, throwing shoes and clothes on the floor, and the mothers/fathers do little or nothing to stop them.
Ten years ago, I got cancer, and had to go on Medi-Cal, the program for the poor in California. In the big hall where I went to apply, literally ninety-five percent of the people in the room were Hispanic women with babies and young children. There were a few elderly Vietnamese, and one other white woman with a small child. No black people at all. When I was growing up, twenty, thirty years ago the percentages would have been nearly opposite.
So, it’s a complicated issue. I know and like so many Mexican people personally and socially, but sometimes I have a visceral response when the town I’ve lived in for many years has been taken over by Mexican immigrants, forty percent or more of whom speak Spanish, not English, different child-rearing practices disrupt my shopping, the radio is now mostly in Spanish, etc.
These may seem like little things, but they’re not. I feel like I’m living in Mexico sometimes instead of the America I grew up in, and I feel like we’ve been invaded because of the sheer numbers of Mexican people now living here. In fact, we white people have gone from being 80% of the population to 35% in three decades. I asked my ESL students one time, “How would you feel if suddenly half the people you met in Guadalajara spoke only German, and friends of yours couldn’t find work as carpenters any more because the Germans all worked for a lot less money.” They said, they’d feel terrible. Well, I said…
Yet individually, they are some of the best people I’ve ever known, and if I were in their place in Mexico I would do anything I could to cross the border if it meant I could earn enough money to support my family.
But… I resent seeing Mexican women on the street with a baby in a push chair and two toddlers tagging behind, and I remember the welfare office, the exploding birth rate, and the cost of it.
Basically, there are just too many people crossing the border every year, and many of those who do have one child after another. The infrastructure in CA is collapsing: the roads, the schools, emergency rooms in hospitals are closing, and jobs once worked by whites and blacks that lived here for decades are now exclusively held by Mexican and Central American laborers who have decimated all branches of the building trade, taking jobs that used to be unionized and driving American workers out of the field entirely. Other jobs as well: fast-food is entirely Hispanic, as are bus boys, dishwashers, janitors, etc. It’s not true that “Americans don’t want these jobs” — the janitors union in LA has been gutted by low-wage, off the books Mexican workers; American construction workers have had to learn other trades because they can’t compete with Mexicans working for half their normal salaries or less. The people hardest hit are blacks, blue-collar whites and blacks, high school students and old people, who used to work the MacDonald’s jobs. I’ve even heard that Mexican workers have flooded (oops — sorry!) into New Orleans, beating out American workers, many of them native New Orleans folks, for jobs rebuilding houses, because the Mexicans will work for a third less money.
And sometimes I feel.. I never want to hear Spanish again, I want my music back on the radio, and I want to see mostly white and black faces in town, like it used to be, until it turned mostly Hispanic.

Still, I think feeling territorial is universal, and when your community is transformed overnight (or so it seems), you feel invaded, resentful, even hostile. The longing to be with people who speak the same language, who look the same and have the same customs is pretty universal, I’d think. I used to like visiting Mexico, but I never, ever wanted to live there, and now Mexico has come to me, and I am living there anyway.
