The media is lavishing attention on Pat Buchanan and his new book that argues that whites are the only race with the “genetic endowments” to prevent America from collapsing.
Yesterday on Hannity and Colmes, Pat Buchanan asserted that Hispanic immigrants were “not assimilated into America” because they were adopting “rap culture.” Watch it:
Rap music, according to the U.S. State Department, is “an original American art form.” It has its roots, however, in African-American culture, not white culture. For Buchanan, apparently, that means it’s un-American.
Transcript:
BECKEL: Pat, you say in the Hispanic culture in the Southwest — it is a culture that will take over the Southwest and essentially make the Southwest of the United States part of America but not really part of America. Let me ask you this — the Irish and Italian came to New York and brought their culture here. Eastern Europeans went to the north-northwest part of the Midwest, the Germans and Scottish went to the Appalachians and brought their culture with them. What’s different?
BUCHANAN: One thing that’s different in the year 2050 there will be 102 million people of Hispanic descent, primarily Mexican, wholly concentrated in the American Southwest. That’s one thing. The second thing is Mexicans, unlike Irish or German folks, never claimed America as their country. They owned it. 58% of Mexicans believe the southwest belongs to them. The third thing is, they were assimilated. There powerful assimilation movement in this country that does not exist right now and in so the point of the thing is, they are not assimilated into America. Many Hispanics, as a matter of fact, you know what culture they are assimilating to? — the rap culture, the crime culture, anti-cops, all the rest of it.
Vote Bachanan for President of Dumbf*ckistan 2008!
August 23rd, 2006 at 9:50 amWhatever, Pat. Whatever…
August 23rd, 2006 at 9:50 amPat Buchanan hasn’t been assimilated with the US culture since Dean Martin’s Variety Hour went off the air.
August 23rd, 2006 at 9:51 amIsn’t “rap culture” purely an American invention? Sure, it’s spread worldwide now, but it all started here. It’s as American as Rock & Roll.
August 23rd, 2006 at 9:51 amThis man and all like him should be taxed. Removing his tax exempt status would greatly reduce his bs and mixing of church dogma with our political process…..
Any one who buy’s into this junk is a racist, bigot …………
Stop the madness……Vote the radical on all sides out…….Blessings
August 23rd, 2006 at 9:53 amThe second thing is Mexicans, unlike Irish or German folks, never claimed America as their country. They owned it. 58% of Mexicans believe the southwest belongs to them.
Claimed, owned, belongs - all mean pretty much the same. Is there any logic in these three sentences and/or is Buchanan just spouting off?
Question to Pat: Does our “leader” Bush accept American culture when he advocates/allows torture, warrantless spying against federal law, uses religion to push his politicl agenda, denies human rights, etc? I don’t think BushCo can be considered “assimilated” either.
August 23rd, 2006 at 9:58 amHow can Pat Buchanan make so much sense on some issues and then on others be a total blockhead? I’d like to see him explain in detail why he thinks that whites are genetically superior to other races. I really want a TV interviewer to ask him to explain his theory.
August 23rd, 2006 at 9:58 amWhy doesn’t he just come out and say it?
The War On Terror is code for The War On Browns.
What’s with this fear that ‘minorities’ will take over the country and throw the white people out?
August 23rd, 2006 at 10:01 amhow to sound old and out of touch in one easy step.
August 23rd, 2006 at 10:02 amIn addition to being a racist, Pat is just one of those old fart types who can’t stand to see the world change around him. He doesn’t see that he’s the one who no longer is assimilated into American culture.
August 23rd, 2006 at 10:03 amHis racist rants are despicable. And yet, he is still embraced by the capitalist, corporate media. He already has the hate and the hairstyle, Is a little mustache next for him?
August 23rd, 2006 at 10:08 amHispanics are caucasian! They, too, are part of the white race. I learned this in 5th grade.
August 23rd, 2006 at 10:08 ampat went on to say, “if we can get n.w.a. to break-up and eric b. & rakim to break-up, i think we can win this thing”
August 23rd, 2006 at 10:12 amIt’s time for pat to take his sheet and white dunce cap with matching mask with seqence out of moth balls. As far as I’m concerned Pat Is oKKK with the Repiglicans.
August 23rd, 2006 at 10:12 amSo… does that mean Mexicans have to start listening to Pat Boone?
August 23rd, 2006 at 10:13 ampat buchanan doesn’t know shit about hispanic immigrants. he’s just making extreme statements to help sell his book.
around my town rap is not even remotely the music (or the “culture”) of choice for hispanic immigrants.
their “culture” is hard work, more hard work, family, and Radio Mex.
isn’t it wonderful that our own. culture prominently features a commercial news subculture that seeks out and focuyses attention on irresponsible, manipulative, money-seeking public blowhards like buchanan.
August 23rd, 2006 at 10:15 amThis man and all like him should be taxed. Removing his tax exempt status would greatly reduce his bs and mixing of church dogma with our political process…..
Comment by Sharon Cox — August 23, 2006 @ 9:53 am
I believe you are confusing Pat Buchanan with Pat Robertson. Robertson has the ‘church’, Buchanan is just a blow hole.
August 23rd, 2006 at 10:16 am#12 - But, but hispanics are brown! certainly, they cannot be caucasion!
(::flashing sarcasm sign:: i also learned this repeatedly in college admist other, less enlightened sociology students)
August 23rd, 2006 at 10:28 amObviously he never has looked into the ‘assimilation’ of the Irish back in the 1800’s when there were signs “No Irish allowed” and nasty, violent Irish gangs. I’m sure the “Buchanan’s” of the day said the very same things about the Irish that our beloved “Buchanan” is saying about the Mexicans. What an ass.
August 23rd, 2006 at 10:30 amThe second thing is Mexicans, unlike Irish or German folks, never claimed America as their country. They owned it.
I don’t think Mr. Buchanan understands the contradiction in his own statement. If Mexicans owned it, it follows they did claim America as their country. Or is he lamenting Mexicans were not completely kicked out as the US took over the SouthWest?
you know what culture they are assimilating to? — the rap culture, the crime culture, anti-cops, all the rest of it.
I have this image of Alberto Gonzalez, Linda Chavez, Antonio Villaraigosa, and Columba Bush (and her children too, why not?) rapping and shooting at the police…
August 23rd, 2006 at 10:30 amIt is the White supremacists like Pat Buchanan who need to embrace the American culture. Or is it that the term “American culture”, just like the term “terrorist”, has been reduced to a meaningless term that sure seems to imply a lot but does not really mean anything?
August 23rd, 2006 at 10:32 am#17 You’re right, not enough coffee yet……Well tax him double any way for being a radical reich winged nut bag bigot whore……Thank’s for wakeing me up……Blessings
August 23rd, 2006 at 10:33 amI thought Pat Buchanan would be happy about people embracing a reactionary, anti-intellectual, misogynistic, materialist subculture based around the worship of male machismo. I guess he doesn’t know a potential ally when he sees one.
August 23rd, 2006 at 10:33 amBuchanan don’t rap but he can rant and rave
He thinks only whites have rights to save
Sitting in his gated community, oh so brave
Can the man, can the man
Buchanan wants all to assimilate the American way
No other cultures should see the light of day
All is black or white, there ain’t no gray
Can the man, can the man
Buchanan wants you all to sing the American song
August 23rd, 2006 at 10:36 amDon’t need no melting pot to make it strong
Every other tune is just plain wrong
Can the man, can the man
The third thing is, they were assimilated. There powerful assimilation movement in this country that does not exist right now and in so the point of the thing is, they are not assimilated into America.
Again, the former speech writer is only showing that he knows nothing about America. “Assimilation” is a myth. The fact is that different groups collectively produced American culture over time, contributing to its ongoing transformation.
It’s transforming again, but because it’s non-white, Buchanan thinks it’s a failure of “assimilation,” which never happened. As for “rap culture,” look at the lives of Irish-American immigrants in the late-19th/early 20th century in America’s cities and tell me it doesn’t look like a rap video.
Like most conservatives, Buchanan isn’t an American. He just lives here.
August 23rd, 2006 at 10:37 am.
Speaking as a conservative - Pat Buchanan is an a******. He certainly doesn’t speak for me.
August 23rd, 2006 at 10:38 am“in the year 2050″ ?!! what the…. Buchanan is worried about a 2050? I am worried the world may not even get there in one piece, especially if people like Buchanan keep popping up on tv. This is sooooo funny. His buddy Bush is spending every penny of US treasury they can get their hands on and he’s worried about culture. To hell with culture when there’s not even money to keep the US economy going. Forrests, wildlife and clean air are disappearing and he’s bragging on and on about the blacks and the gays. Where do they come up with this stuff, Lunacy Lane?!
August 23rd, 2006 at 10:40 amI think Buchanan’s a racist jerk, but I wouldn’t say he’s way off-base here. There are all sorts of questions about cause/effect, but the “rap culture” is for the most part not an encouraging view of society. Anyone who embraces its worst elements and follows its “mo money” tenets, whether white, black, or hispanic, is embracing a road to crime and idiocy.
Before anybody jumps, yes I know there are more positive rappers out there, but they are not the majority.
August 23rd, 2006 at 10:41 amI don’t care much for rap or hip-hop, but you must realize, it is a product of their ENVIRONMENT…
August 23rd, 2006 at 10:42 amCan I get Buchanon’s book in the original German?
Jeez, what a Nazi.
August 23rd, 2006 at 10:43 ampat then went on to cite the millions of mexican illegals who have adopted the surname “mixalot”
August 23rd, 2006 at 10:44 amUhm…maybe Buchanon doesn’t watch enough TV or listen to the radio. The rap/hip-hop culture is dominating everything now. It is to today’s culture what rock-and-roll during the Beatle days was to the culture of our parents.
I’m no fan of what today’s hip-hop is selling in terms of their “money first” message and how it encourages superficiality and mindless consumerism above personal substacne…but there is no denying that the music is now mainstream and most people, even the most stubborn, are admitting that they like some rap act or song.
August 23rd, 2006 at 10:44 am“Anyone who embraces its worst elements and follows its “mo money†tenets…”
two words: wall street
August 23rd, 2006 at 10:45 amI actually wouldn’t mind if we deport some wrappers……….;-)
August 23rd, 2006 at 10:49 amI guess the only good thing about Pat Buchanan is that he could care less about Iraqi peoples freedom or how horrible Saddam was killing his own people. He represents the true conservative creed. These people are ruled by fear. The are so cowardly that they ridicule the vary people who are doing thier dirty and scary work like hard work and war. Its so pathetic. But at least he isn’t claiming the Iraq War is a noble goal while calling people macacas like a filty bigot.
August 23rd, 2006 at 10:59 amHey, its America that inflicted cRap on the world, no ducking out of that one Pat. Next he will be accusing the rest of the world of giving America the Jerry Springer Show.
August 23rd, 2006 at 11:02 amYeah. Maybe if we didn’t have 100+ years of Jim Crow laws, lynching, and state-approved segregation after nearly 300 years of slavery, Black folks would have been able to integrate into “American” culture.
Pat was part of Nixon’s Southern Strategy, which cynically leveraged those animosities and prejudices to gain power.
August 23rd, 2006 at 11:04 amIn Farmer’s Branch, a Dallas suburb, there’s a war going on between the city council and hispanic leaders.
The LULAC and other hispanic leaders resort to bully tactics, aggressive language and boycotts when confronted with adherence to the immigration laws. These are the same retards who waved Mexican flags to make their case that they are Americans.
Make no mistake, Texas is a Mexican suburb and Mexicans will fight for it.
August 23rd, 2006 at 11:07 amWanted: Carpenter.
Mexican, 8$ per hour
White, 20$ per hour need not apply.
For 20 years now framers have made the same wage topped at 18-20$/hour. And it is directly because of cheap labor.
August 23rd, 2006 at 11:10 amThis man and the people that think like him a a large part of the problem that plagues our “free thinking” society…he apparently has never heard of MLK Jr., Rosa Parks or any number of other Civil Rights activists that have worked so hard in this country. While I respect his right to his own opinion, I have to object to his utilization of Mass Media to spread his obviously racist rhetoric.
Look, people, the equation is so very simple, even he could understand it:
RACE=RACISM!!!
While we’re at it, Pat, why don’t we just recind the Civil Rights Act of ‘64?
Oh, by the way, the KKK called - they want their ideals back!!
Jerk-wad!
Just tell him he’s a bigot and to go away…far away.
P.S. For all the rest of us that want to be better HUMAN BEINGS, the real secret of life is very easy and is explained in my name…anything else is extraneous and negative (against life)
Love ya, Pat, you poor confused soul!
August 23rd, 2006 at 11:11 amBy the way, I’m Scotch-Irish, about as “White” as you can get, and I have lots of “Non-White” friends that are more American than he is. At least they are respectful of my heritage (shameful as it may be!), and definately work harder and love harder than most “Superior” white people I know. And the “Hispanics” were in the South-west long before “White” man came along…so maybe they have a legitimate point. Mostly they just want to have a good life for themselves and their children, just like you, Pat, only they are not afraid to earn it!!
You shame all of us with Irish descent, you friggin’ racist…Learn and let live, would you please?
August 23rd, 2006 at 11:21 amThe self-destruction of the right continues.
August 23rd, 2006 at 11:28 amPat, your ass is showing again.
August 23rd, 2006 at 11:29 amOne of these days a guy a lot bigger than you is going to
call you out on your bullshit.
It may be me, but if not, I hope I’m there to watch.
You need your ass changed with your mouth; then maybe
you’ll make some sense.
How many blow jobs did you give Hannity to get air time?
Clinton had sex in the white house, but he didn’t make
her Secretary of State.
What else is new with Buchanan ? He’s been a racistsince his early days with Nixon and cannot get over the fact that with the trend in population we ‘ll be a minority soon . My advise to him is do’nt be so moral , f**ck more ,have more children , practice polygamy , have more fun , lay off some of the booze and above all do not have such a big mouth.
August 23rd, 2006 at 11:29 am“Make no mistake, Texas is a Mexican suburb and Mexicans will fight for it.”
i think you forgot to add “especially if they’re listening to the rap music on their headphones”
August 23rd, 2006 at 11:31 amHey 39, Wow, where can I make $18-$20/hour?!
August 23rd, 2006 at 11:32 amI’m half Irish, and my other half is just as white. Jerks like Buchanan make wite guys like me look really bad. How can I disown him and his brand of “whiteness”?
Also, after Texas won its independence from Mexico it survived as a sovereign nation for roughly a decade before it joined the US. It has been “owned” not by Hispanics but, if by any group, by the embarassingly stupid white guys like Buchanan, the Bushes, etc.
Crooks cloaked in religion. I wish Jesus would return and cast out the Pharisees today. Before lunch.
August 23rd, 2006 at 11:32 amThe simple solution is for these people to take a little advice from michael Jackson and properly assimilate properly.
August 23rd, 2006 at 11:34 amRace isn’t the issue unless you want to attribute Mexican aggressiveness to their being Mexican. The issues are:
-Immigration law
-Money
-VERY low property values
Yeah, Pat’s a bigot. He also hates the Iraq war. Take the good with the bad.
August 23rd, 2006 at 11:35 amHey 39, Wow, where can I make $18-$20/hour?!
Comment by mroom — August 23, 2006 @ 11:32 am
-Energy
-State work
-Telecom w/degree.
The rest of the jobs are for illegals and sub $10.
August 23rd, 2006 at 11:38 am“Rap, Rap, Rap! Its ALL Because of this DAMN RAP MUSIC…”
August 23rd, 2006 at 11:38 amWHAT A FRIGGEN CROCK OF SHIT! RAP/HIP-HOP is a culture in AMERICA dating back to KOOL DJ HERC and AFRICAN BAMBATA in 1976….. I guess this asshole hasent seen any marketing/ advertising in the past 15 years… TOMMY HILFIGER, POLO, NIKE, NAUTICA, COCA-COLA….NEED I SAY MORE! YOU MIGHT WANT TO THANK HIP-HOP FOR THE MUSIC IT HAS CREATED WHICH HAS PROPELED THESE COMPANYS AND MANY LIKE THEM TO GENERATE MILLIONS!!!!!!!!!!!!
KEEP TALKIN BUCHANON, YOU DUMBASS!!!
To #35 - Heynow:
These people are ruled by fear.
You are very close, but you used too many letters in your sentance. It should read as follows:
These people RULE BY FEAR.
Now that’s an accurate statement.
Remember: Life is simple: Make Love, Have Fun.
August 23rd, 2006 at 11:38 am“Make no mistake, Texas is a Mexican suburb and Mexicans will fight for it.â€
or if like diversity:
“Make no mistake, NYC’s Little Italy is a Italian suburb and Italians will fight for it.â€
August 23rd, 2006 at 11:39 am“Make no mistake, Little Odessa in Brighton Beach is a Russian suburb and Russians will fight for it.â€
“Make no mistake, Chinatown in any major city is a Chinese suburb and the Chinese will fight for it.â€
-Food service management
-Titty dancer
Unlike Italians, Russians and Chinese, Mexicans really do think Texas still belongs to Mexico. To a man. I’ve been managing low rent Mexicans for a long time and I’m here to tell ya you’re wrong.
August 23rd, 2006 at 11:44 amactually, based on your use of “low rent mexicans,” i’m pretty sure you’re the one who’s wrong.
August 23rd, 2006 at 11:46 am39. And do you think you can stop illegal immigration with a wall?
August 23rd, 2006 at 11:58 amand while certain people fantasize about building walls and millions of mexicans getting together and rising up, the ports are the real flaw in our border security.
[of course, if a large bomb gets through in a container ship and a 3rd american city sees high-level destruction on bush’s watch, $8-an-hour workers will be too costly to use in the rebuilding process since the administration would suspend the davis-bacon act. yet certain people will probably continue to demonize ‘those low rent mexicans’.]
August 23rd, 2006 at 12:14 pmThey haven’t got there timetable for further assaults on the middle east so they will pick up where they left off and continue fanning the homefront flames.
August 23rd, 2006 at 12:17 pmIt’s Pat!
August 23rd, 2006 at 12:18 pmYo’ Pat B! you make me a hot .38. Oughtaa cap ya’ but ize to busy sweepin’ the chronic flakes off your bitch’s ass.
August 23rd, 2006 at 1:13 pm“I have this image of Alberto Gonzalez, Linda Chavez, Antonio Villaraigosa, and Columba Bush (and her children too, why not?) rapping and shooting at the police…
Comment by Gregor Samsa ”
Well, we know Alberto is a criminal anyway…
August 23rd, 2006 at 1:17 pmActually I think its the middle suburbia spoiled white kids who are “embracing” the rap culture.
August 23rd, 2006 at 1:23 pmWhen a kid named Harrington driving his moms Audi and listening to 50cent pulls up to a soccer mom in a minivan, rolls down the window and threatens to “bust a cap in in her ass”, then I agree there is a culture class.
August 23rd, 2006 at 1:26 pmClash.
August 23rd, 2006 at 1:27 pmDear Judd - Thank you for defending a great American “art form” - Rap. It is so refreshing to be entertained by the positive messages woven in the lyrics. The feuds of rival gangsta’s add to the excitement - not to mention the wholesome escapades of wannabe’s!! Nothing is quite as thrilling as listening to deafening bass emanating from a “rice-rocket” a block away! I could not believe the nerve of a guy in front of me at a stop light the other day. He had a bumper sticker that read, “If I wanted to listen to YOUR “music”, I’d be sitting in YOUR car.”
August 23rd, 2006 at 1:42 pmI don’t care much for rap, and my parents didn’t care much for the Beatles.
August 23rd, 2006 at 2:06 pmI suppose he would rather Hispanics follow the whites’ version of “assimilation” into Native American culture.
August 23rd, 2006 at 2:06 pmMA, slow morning in traffic court eh? Thanks for stopping by and reminding us all how devasting a lobotomy can be. Where do you see a defense of rap music in Judd’s piece? And Judd didn’t call rap an art form (not that it isn’t), that was the state department you fool.
August 23rd, 2006 at 2:28 pmSadly, few here are able to understand his point and respond to it in a grown-up fashion. That includes Judd Legum, who makes massive leaps to arrive at his conclusion. For instance, jazz is “an original American art form” that has its roots “in African-American culture”. Yet, if that’s the criteria Buchanan uses to determine whether something is “un-American”, why hasn’t he discussed jazz? Therefore, Judd is simply trying to mislead you once again.
19: If you read the quote in this very post, you’ll see that there are differences between today’s immigrants and past immigrants. There are several other differences as well, and you can find them if you do some research.

August 23rd, 2006 at 2:31 pmRemember when Elvis was poisoning America’s youth with the devil’s rock & roll?
August 23rd, 2006 at 2:35 pmso this thread’s moved from making broad generalizations about mexicans to making broad generalizations about african americans now?
August 23rd, 2006 at 2:48 pmMy fellow left-minded friends,
Don’t be fooled by Buchanan’s anti-war stance with Iraq. While many progressives (such as myself) are against the war because we care about the well being of innocent civilians in foreign countries, this is not so for Buchanan. His anti-war position doesn’t come out of compassion, but out of isolationism and xenophobia. Buchanan doesn’t want this war with Iraq because he supports a conservative isolationist doctrine, not because he actually cares about the innocent civilians in Baghdad.
For a while now I’ve been listening to other liberals say that they agree with Buchanan’s stance on the war, but that’s impossible for a true progressive. To agree with Buchanan is to agree with isolationism and xenophobia. Although he may be against the nocon agenda of imperialism and militaristic authoritarianism, he opposes it only because he is affraid of minorities and affraid of foreigners and affraid of the rest of the world. Buchanan is a racist bigot and I don’t want to hear any more “liberals” say they “agree with his anti-war stance”. Don’t confuse isolationism for compassion.
August 23rd, 2006 at 2:59 pm#94 - Armtrong - I guess you missed the “MOST of you” - or else you had nothing of substance to contribute - just like gay blade! BTW… My kindergarten twins think 24 is “really old” - you’re ancient.
Off and running….
August 23rd, 2006 at 3:07 pmMA,
I’m 25, male, black, and liberal. And despite what you might think MA, intelligent. I’m able to justify and explain my position and the position of others to people that would otherwise shy away from political discourse, so naturally I scare the SHIT out of NeoCons.
August 23rd, 2006 at 3:17 pmMA
As if you contribute anything with your posts. BTW, yes I’m a middle-aged white guy - so what? It’s the heart and the actions that matter - not age or skin color.

August 23rd, 2006 at 3:33 pmGood point about Buchanan - although there is benefit to supporting his criticism of the war as a general principle. I guess we just need to be careful - I’m glad you reminded us of Buchanan’s isolationist underpinnings. I had forgotten as he was beginning to sound more reasonable lately.
I’ll say that about 90% of the posters here are clueless “let’s pull the race card” types. This guy has an entire book that has loads of factual data supporting his overall premise and you (90% of you) call him out on a single statement. Pat is from an older generation. Those of you out there trying to trump this racist claim up as much as possible are pathetic. Offhandedly ask your Grandma or Grandpa their opinion of 50 cent or Academy award winners 36 Mafia and you’ll hear the same kind of misunderstanding. If you keep asking questions you’ll probably find that your Grandparent (whatever race they or you are) probably have a couple of racial misunderstandings. You should then jump all over them and call them racists and disregard anything wise, constructive, observant, or intelligent thing they ever said. Write ‘em right off. After all, all that should really matter in a dialog is that the person your dealing with is 100% free of any racial misunderstanding. P.S. For those out there who are totally convinced of Pat’s unrepentant racism, show him how truely open-minded people take in and process information free of racisim. Google the term BALKANISM.
August 23rd, 2006 at 3:45 pmSandy, you’re right smashing up Iraq is doing nothing more than splitting it up ethnically with Shia,Sunni, and Kurds acting on old grudges. You call Pat a racist xenophobe and an isolationist. From its outset HE WAS AGAINST THE WAR. For those who keep whipping out the racist card, answer me this; under your ideology would any nation need immigration laws? Why does every nation have them? BTW what’s with branding me a Republican. That phony Left/Right paradigm is BS anyway. I support the right to choose and don’t give a damn if you like the same sex. There are bigger issues.
August 23rd, 2006 at 4:03 pmBen take a pill i told you.
August 23rd, 2006 at 4:15 pmTake a pill?…get off the post dude you clearly have nothing to say.
August 23rd, 2006 at 4:22 pmBen you have too much to say this is why you talk right?
August 23rd, 2006 at 4:26 pmthanks Armstrong. Big up. Fukitol, seriously, grown folks are talking here.
August 23rd, 2006 at 4:33 pmDamn, there are a squad of you on here. I don’t know if trooping up with lameass one-liners is how you guys discuss stuff in the forum but I thought I stumbled across a potentially intelligent forum. What’s with the pill talk, Daddy work for big pharma? I’m just gonna assume the pill pushers are randoms who stumbled in here and give the rest of yall posters the benefit of the doubt.
August 23rd, 2006 at 4:43 pmPB needs a new motto. His “rap is un-American” Spiel is getting old. He needs a new excuse not to like races than “they’re violent cuz they listen to rap”. Do you think he’d be more respected if he just came out and said “I’m RACIST!!”?? hmmm.
August 23rd, 2006 at 4:48 pmYou’re right. He did say that, if not directly. If asked if he was racist, though, I’m betting he’d probably say something like, “I’m not racist, I’m pro-American!”
August 23rd, 2006 at 5:00 pmWait, wait, wait… I believe he also has said something along those lines already. Can we make this guy emmigrate somewhere else?? It’s embarrassing to me that he’s a fellow compatriot!
August 23rd, 2006 at 5:02 pmThis forum is wacky out there. So what type of immigration policy should there be? What would be a good number that would silence all the talk that our immigration policy is racist? Do any of you know what Mexico’s immigration policies are?
August 23rd, 2006 at 5:08 pmDo you know what is a their #2 source of revenue for their GDP? #1 is oil.
August 23rd, 2006 at 5:15 pmSo today I learned that sitemods are mythical people. Give the power to the people, TP!
August 23rd, 2006 at 5:32 pm#2 is $$$’s made in the U.S. being sent back to Mexico to be spent and invested in their ecomony. We’re subsidizing their poverty. Mexico City knows the deal and has no motivation to stop the mass flight. Look anywhere in the southwest. Si quieres enviar dinero a Mexico no seria una problema. Also, Drugs, haha that’s an unofficial source but you’re so right. Evangelicals…I just got sad just thinking about how much they suck.
August 23rd, 2006 at 5:44 pmBuchanan and MA are perfect examples that while not all republicans are racist, all racists are definitely republican!
August 23rd, 2006 at 5:45 pmWow, what a bigot!! The thing is, though, I think they march him out every time there’s an election to try and make the other right-wingers look better. To spend a lot of time worrying about what Buchanan has to say, is to give him a lot more credit than he deserves. He’s not an elected official, just a bag of hateful hot air. Let’s go back to the pscyhos who are in our government.
August 23rd, 2006 at 8:27 pmWow…almost every post here is just “Nazi!”, “Racist!”, and maybe some witty oneliner about being a nazi or a racist. Is this what you folks consider discussion and debate?
August 23rd, 2006 at 9:28 pm#99 With trolls? Yes.
August 23rd, 2006 at 11:05 pmLet’s not get Hip Hop and rap confused. “Rap” is the commercial few that are broadcast on ROTATION on your TV’s & Radios. Just becaus eit’s played the most on the Radio and TV doesn’t mean that it’s an accurate representation of the culture. Much like the stereotypical characters in a minstrel show, most of the “rappers” you see and hear are just that: paid tap-dancers, coonin’ for Massa’. The real culture you wouldn’t know unless you were actually involved in it. Real hip hop is still largely a local and grassroots movement, with a large positive following, which have gone so far as to denounce those who’ve tried so hard to reverse the progress that they pushed so hard for. The unfortunate circumstance is that there inadequate distribution channels for the conscious artist when we live in an “if-it-bleeds-it-leads” society. The simple fact is, a “conscious” is not going to sell a conglomerate’s sneaker, jersey, diamonds, rims, burgers, etc. at the expense of his/her soul and culture. So hire a talking monkey. Sell that crack, show those teeth, DANCE FOR ME MONKEY!
August 24th, 2006 at 9:31 am[…] Hispanics, as a matter of fact, you know what culture they are assimilating to? — the rap culture, the crime culture, anti-cops, all the rest of it. [Buchanan, 8/22/06] […]

August 24th, 2006 at 10:36 amWasn’t the SouthWest part of Mexico back in the day before Manifest Destiny.
August 24th, 2006 at 12:15 pmPat you dumb f***.
oh my god, this is terrible! hispanics are “un american like” because they are adapting rap music! which will in turn, make them violent and start killing people! mr buchanan, what will we do if rap music makes them start bobbing their head TOO!!!! good thing u came along PAT!
August 24th, 2006 at 12:26 pmTHESE PEOPLE ARE STEALING OUR COUNTRY!
August 24th, 2006 at 12:31 pmTo all who have read or heard this statement…. please believe that these are the kind of statements that continue to be why culturally why people do not get along and do not trust each other.
If we allow people to keep dividing us instead of trying to find ways to heal racial issues this country is doomed, just like Rome or any other great nation before us. We need to protect or borders and stop acting like we don’t know that this government has allowed the condition of the american borders to be what they are bytheir own admitted chose. Know look how easy it is for them to try and point blame. It was this governments greed just like oil to keep us at government feet.
August 24th, 2006 at 12:43 pmHey Omar, the Southwest was part of Mexico, but Mexico had it’s own issues shedding the yolk of Spanish imperialism and couldn’t provide places like Texas with any meaningful support but wanted to tax them anyway. We all know the story of the Alamo, which is a crown jewel in American History, especially for Texans. Hispanics and white settlers fought side by side against Santa Anna’s Mexican Army. I bet if you asked any of them if the were Mexican they would say hell no, they’re coming here to blow us to hell, we’re American.
August 24th, 2006 at 12:48 pmI read somewhere that the largest group buying rap or hip hop albums is young white americans 13 to 30. Are they un american?
August 24th, 2006 at 12:52 pmPlease everyone read comment #99 what is the writer saying? How are the comments here NAZI? Please someone help me understand or explain what is meant by this comment. I just would like to be more enlighted so much hate for one another. As citizen so much must be done to correct lives or our brother and sisters (fellow americans). Our borders and cities need mending. And I believe that big business and government has us once again pointing finger at each other and it is governments plan. This is a way for them to continue to spend our money on themsleves (government ) and forget about poor hurting people.
August 24th, 2006 at 12:54 pmMan, really come on. These are the people with power aka money. As a Mexican-American emcee (ladies and gentleman, I transcend far beyond the title rapper) this has to be one of the most offesive comments I’ve ever read. Well what can you expect from some one that is this out of touch with reality.
Mexicans that are more Americanized/assimilated (the equivalent of Chicanos) are the ones grasping to this culture, not those from Mexico. This moron can’t see past his 8 ft tall rot-iron gate.
August 24th, 2006 at 1:00 pmPat Buchanan makes mistakes as well as everyone else. Most of what he says is true. Many people will take one sentance of his essays and speeches, and make it the whole story.Anyone that believes Mexicans don’t still claim the SW U.S.,are just blind to what is happening.Remember the Mexican flags in mass last April,May? They mean it.
August 24th, 2006 at 1:01 pmMy hat off to Pay. Hispanics r responsible for everything that has happened to the US, including the killing if them injuns, and the start of the nazi racism after the slaves were freed. LOL what a silly little man. Puchanan go stick your head up your a$$ and see how far it fits.
August 24th, 2006 at 1:03 pmLet us all thank our media. They have done a wonderful job. If I’m blessed to have a daughter someday, I truly hope that she listens to rap music that is even more sexually explicit, degrading to women, and violent. We live in a happy beautiful country, and things are much better than they were in the 50 or 60’s. Drug use is going down in the inner cities, violent crime is going down around the country, and I feel great about being white. I’m sure Martin Luther King would be happy to see what has happened since he was taken from this world. I know Bill Cosby is smiling.
August 24th, 2006 at 1:12 pmTom Cruise talks about his religion (gets fired)
August 24th, 2006 at 1:16 pmPat *#^! Buchanan makes another racist statement and what does he get
more air time. So my questions is who’s the racist Pat or the people who keep giving a platform the to spew this bull.
It’s not racist people. It is fact. I drive around Southern California everyday. All you hear pumping out of latino’s cars is rap, rap, and more rap. They all wear baggy clothes, hats and accesories like the hip hop community. I don’t see them wearing ponchos or anything else that would be considered hispanic style clothing. It’s amazing to me how many people will not see what is right in front of them for fear of being labeled a racist. It’s not a judgement. It is a clear observation. The weird thing is that as a majority latinos do not get along with blacks. At least not from everything i’ve seen from living in So Cal for the last 10 years. Even their cars are all hip hop’d out. C’mon it’s right in front of you. I don’t know much about Buchanon, but whomever he may be and whatever he may stand for aside, his observation of latinos adopting the rap culture is correct. Also, it’s not just hispanics. There are plenty of “white boys” and asians wearing the same clothes and pumping the same music out of there cars with spinning rims.
August 24th, 2006 at 1:20 pmwow, my true amazement is in the fact that all this talk about what is OURS, what WE have built. I am of Native American decent Powhatan Renape (lineage of the one YOU named Pocahantas….her real name was Matoaka, she was 11 not the buxom Disney chick and ended up sold into slavery and made some man’s wife…renamed Rebecca Wolfe in W.Va) if invading, killing and planting a flag constitute building this great country…then why won’t we let Israelis and them duke it out and see who’s standing in the end….this is how this great democracy was build…isn’t it. By free thinking individuals that decided that they should not have to be what it is there government said they should. (anybody see the irony) UnAMerican…WTF (look it up if you don’t get it) what they hell is AMERICAN except a infinite cultures from infinite lands centralized and living the “Amercan Dream” in one geographical arena. Wow, to assimulate in the manner that PAT is talking about would require the shooting of, poisoning of, disease spreading of….basically the genocide of all here in this country….you know that and stealing all their land and putting them on the equivalent of gate free concentration camp….you know the ALL AMERICAN way. The rest of my heritage African ( I don’t say African AMerican because in this case anyone who is from Africa the continent is an Afro-Am opposed to everyone of African Lineage (folk of color)
Hmmm, what is White or Caucasion exactly….what 1, 2, or 3 countries would you have to be from to be considered ‘WHITE’, I have blue eyed blond haired folkin my family…though we’re Natives and African….would this make us White….who makes this determination and what is the criteria…perhaps I can check this box the next time I want something and want to be considered ‘American’
Oddly enough my grandfather who served in the Air Force in Korea….told me years ago that ‘THEY’ you know whitey in charge of the infrastructure, well that ‘THEY’ only keep track of our racial status so that it is easier to know which ‘UNAMERICAN’ ballots to burn.
My theory is that ‘THEY’ intend to have we the ‘UNAMERICANS’ as slaves again by 2050, don’t believe me but right it down somewhere that I said it.
That voters amendment that THEY won’t sign into law and just revisit every 25 years…yeah just wait and see.
ONLY AN ANUS COULD THEORIZE THAT MUSIC OR ANYTHING VERBAL COULD SOLEY CHANGE THE PSYCHE IT HAS ABSOLUTELY NOTHING TO DO WITH DRUGS, GUNS, DEATH, DESPERATION, RACISM, AND UNAMERICAN TREATMENT BY AMERICANS TO AMERICANS IN THESE ENVIRONMENTS THAT LEAD TO THE NEGATIVE BEHAVIORS THAT PAT TALKS ABOUT.
August 24th, 2006 at 1:21 pmJust think if Reagan andthe CIA ( Bush I) didn’t release crack and military ammo into poverty stricken areas in the 70s-80s there might not be HIP HOP/RAP/ or UNAMERICANS that embrace it to be concerned with
August 24th, 2006 at 1:31 pmTrue, Buchanan was being stupid. Rap music is as American as apple pie. I agree with everyone here on that point.
However, the fact of the matter is we have shitloads of Mexicans coming into this country illegally. Most of which can’t speak English and who don’t know the difference between George Washington and John Holmes, the ex-rated negro. Immigration is fine and dandy for a country. But we’re talking millions of people sneaking into this country without a background check, capital, skills for the job market and even the ability to speak the language of this nation. If you think that this huge flux of foreigners isn’t going to drastically change this country’s society-wise than your living in a dream world. If you think that huge influx of people living on welfare and using social services isn’t going to but a strain on the economy, if you think the economy can handle and provide enough jobs for all these people + natural citizens of this country than your living in a dream world. If you think that the USA can successfully assimilate people arriving this quickly and on this massive scale you are also living in a dream world.
Fact of the matter is millions of strangers are coming into this country and If that doesn’t concern you in the slightest than your retarded. Racism doesn’t have a damn thing to do with this…I don’t care if its Russians, Chinese, Italians, Germans or whatever. Immigration should be controlled and regulated. It should not be A GODDAMN FREE FOR ALL!!!!
August 24th, 2006 at 1:54 pmI think this problem is at the crises level. And personally if I had any say I’d station a US army division or two at the Mexico border to keep it secure. And why not? Obviously the border patrol can’t do shit on their own.
It’s amazing what ignorance can do to a person. He (Pat Buchanan) and everyone else that has that same ideology, will become just like dinosaurs, extinct. Unable to adapt to change will force them out of their “comfort zone” and plus if he’s being a “genuine American” he sure as hell doesn’t look Indian to me.
August 24th, 2006 at 2:10 pmBuchanon was the only presidential candidate who was saying that we had a problem with our borders , before 911 …
August 24th, 2006 at 2:20 pmPat has one big problem -he looks at the facts
Regardless of agreeing with any 1 or several parts of what this man said, he has shown HIS race card by making RACE-ist statements based off of an Opinion not a Fact, there is no viable study anywhere that proves any aspect of this. Hip HOp is unamerican because it Discusses the perceived cause and effects of the community on said individuals. Yes started by people of color, the same people that are still fighting to truly be considered AMERICAN so if it comes off as UN-AMERICAN perhaps that is due to all the UN-AMERICAN treatment received this ‘Race’ upon first stepping foot here. LEt’s review that
1. Came to our land and stole us—-UnAmerican or AMerican
2. Enslaved us based on a theorized process written by Mr. Willie Lynch-American or Unamerican?
3. TOld us we were free but still treated us like animals/slaves/product (Just the lying part) Unamerican or AMerican (overall) unamerican or american
I’ll translate my belief in this one statement “I AM STILL AWAITING AFFIRMATED AFFIRMATIVE ACTION AND MY 40ACRES AND MULE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!”
THis is merely another way to try and validate racist, hateful, inuendo by disguising it as truth.
NONE OF THOSE CRYING ABOUT IMMIGRANTS DARE SPEAK OF THERE IMMIGRANT ANCESTRY….OH, I guess it don’t matter because they are White=American=Superior=”I’ve been here long enough to say its mine”
alas I’m speechless and can only utter Wow….sad I think. We as a country have only managed to advance in areas that deal in some form with $ or murder…Moral, moot since 1965
August 24th, 2006 at 2:22 pmGive it up Pat; You’re an embarrassment to all races. - Mike 49y/o white male
August 24th, 2006 at 2:25 pm#121 J. Dorsey, we have a problem with our borders OK, so why is it 2006 and not a damn thing has been done to offer guaranteed security….maybe cause that’s how the drugs get in….can’t get ya cut if you don’t let in….please Mexicans have been hopping the border for what….forever but now that the population is becoming more Hispanic there’s a problem….why do they think they might have to learn that ‘Spanish jibberish’ to coexist and compete….maybe that a Black or Hispanic or Asian or Indian (Red or Brown) might get to the White House and be able to make peace with the other 191 countries in the world.
WYCLEF JEAN (the FUGEES) said it best on Chapelle…See this is some of that UNAMERICAN HIP HOP ol boy Pat is talking about….its called how we feel we are perceived….still think he’s right than bite me this sums it all up:
Election time is coming
If I was president, I’d get elected on Friday, assasinated on Saturday, and buried on Sunday.
If I was president… If I was president
An old man told me, instead of spending billions on the war,
we can use some of that money, in the ghetto.
I know some so poor, they use the spring as the shower, when screaming “fight the power”. That’s when the vulture devoured
[chorus]
If I was president, I’d get elected on Friday, assasinated on Saturday, and buried on Sunday. If I was president… If I was president… If I was president…If I was president
But the radio won’t play this.
They call this rebel music.
How can you refuse it, children of moses?
[chorus]
If I was president, I’d get elected on Friday, assasinated on Saturday, and buried on Sunday.
If I was president…If i was president Tell the children the truth, the truth.
August 24th, 2006 at 2:34 pmChristopher Columbus didn’t discover America. Tell them the truth. The truth
YEAH! Tell them about Marcus Garvey. The truth YEAH! The truth. Tell them about Martin Luther King. Tell them the truth. The Truth. Tell them about JFK
If I was President
[chorus]
If I was president, I’d get elected on Friday, assasinated on Saturday, and buried on Sunday.
If I was president… If I was president
Quoting a good comedian:
August 24th, 2006 at 2:36 pmIt is not the heat is the humidity and it is not the racism is the stupidity…
Buchanon if you get ride of the immigrants who is going to work in Americas crop fields, who’s going to pick the fruits and vegetables that we as Americans eat. You! I do not thinks so, This country, and its economy would crash and burn. By the way this great nation was founded by Immigrants; that is why we have a statue of liberty in New York. Believe it or not your ancestors were immigrants too!
August 24th, 2006 at 2:45 pmPOST #119 Dominates. I think Mikey summed it up. The system is way broke and the Federal Government let it happen. Tax payers are the ones holding the bill on this one. Last time I checked the IRS doesn’t care what color/race/ethnicity you are. Props, Mikey, for cutting through the bullshit and giving a clear perspective.
August 24th, 2006 at 2:58 pmOk,it is time for someone to set the record straight. The blacks in this country are constantly singing their high praises regarding their roots and black culture. When someone steps out of line[most of the time whites]and makes any type of statement that can be distorted in any way someone yells foul.If someone of mexican disent makes a inflamatory remark oh well.Let some like Pat B make a remark regarding his race,he becomes a racist or worse.Come on folks white, black, or brown we all should have the right to speak up regarding our respective races. If not, then this is the fuel that is needed to continue to tear our country apart. If you love this country then stop tearing her down by treating one race better then another. If that doesn’t make sense to you then you should be seen and not heard.By the way, judging by some of the comments, intellectually speaking, most of you couldn’t carry Pat’s bags!!!!
August 24th, 2006 at 3:13 pmThis guy just doesn’t quit or get it. Once again he has inserted both feet into his fat mouth
August 24th, 2006 at 3:21 pmI immigrated from India to this country 30 years ago and I am mad as hell that Hispanics think they have a right to create their own “supra-national” identity. They need to learn English like the rest of us, and they need to fully assimilate like most of us. If they start calling for a new “Mexican nation” in the Southwest, this is one Yankee that will be ready to fight for the true America!!!!!!
August 24th, 2006 at 3:23 pmI shake my head at the utter stupidity and ignorance of most of these comments here - bashing the efforts of someone who is trying to do something about a growing problem. Mostly young, ignorant, wet-behind-the-ears morons who have been raised/brainwashed by the media and entertainment industry, spouting garbage they know nothing about. Tell us something, what the h*** are you doing, other than running your mouth? When your standard of living and way of life is gone, you’ll be crying, “why didn’t someone do something,” and probably not even realize then - you did it to yourselves. What most of you need is a grand dose of humility and wisdom. It would shut your mouths, and open your minds.
August 24th, 2006 at 3:32 pmLet’s not beat around the bush people. We need to shoot all the fags, hang all the n******s, and drown all the spics. And while we’re at it why not burn all the witches. That would solve all of this countrys’ problems wouldn’t it. Wouldn’t it. Yeah, right
August 24th, 2006 at 3:34 pmHaaaaaaahahahahaaaaaa. Nice, Rob. i coulda paraphased that with LOL, but it just didn’t fit
August 24th, 2006 at 3:56 pmAll here should forget your trivial comments on the cultural, ethnic, or racial slurs that you stir in the vortexes of your personal cauldrons and consider whether you are truly ready to embrace the next right after free speech. Are the experiences at Wounded Knee and Waco forgotten so soon? These are the realities of the times. The only legitimate claimants here are Native Americans that assimilate as a means of survival. Impatience stirred by first amendment exercise is of futile nature. Don’t let it drag you into the currents of the proverbial Creek without a paddle.
August 24th, 2006 at 3:57 pmWhat a loser. This person is exactly why more and more people world wide ate America. I work overseas and travel through out our great planet and to see some White Trash person talking about people like this makes me sick.
August 24th, 2006 at 3:59 pmTo #139 may you and your family with your views (because they taught you) all suck a limp D—k!!!!! I bet you wouldnt say that to the face of a black , hispanic. youre nothing but a coward who use to and still get his ass beat on a daily basis . May you and your off-spring rott in hell. And F–K PAT ALSO!!!
August 24th, 2006 at 4:35 pmIt really should not matter to us white folks because we claim to be the supreme race, but in fact we are albino children of the African people. We are hip hop thugs.
August 24th, 2006 at 4:38 pmRAP, RAP, HOORAY
August 24th, 2006 at 4:59 pmHe is a embarassment
August 24th, 2006 at 5:02 pmwhen are the “liberals”going to realize that rap is part of the system’s plan to get black folks to hate themselves, each other and be hated by others as ignorant savages. that is what i think mainstream rap & r&b is. after all they market that crap to sell to the middle class white kids. that is where the money is. then they can say what “animals” “those people are.” brother malcolm talked about “field slaves” and “house slaves.” sean combs & sug knight are today’s house slaves. yes massa they are! enough rambling.
peace
August 24th, 2006 at 5:03 pmJust like all the far left wocko blogs glossed over racist comments by Cynthia McKinney (’put on your hamaka and celebrate’) or Ray Nagel (’it’s gonna be a chocolate city’), they pick-up on an almost incidental comment out of the Pat Buchanan interview and try to make him appear like a ‘racist’. Is this stupidity or bias? Read his book before you comment further, you’ll learn alot. (Listen to C-SPAN callers sometime..even a lot of left wing wackos agree with Pat!)
August 24th, 2006 at 5:09 pmWhy is everyone deviating from the main point of this whole debate? I’ve listened to people defend Buchanan on here saying that he’s not racist, that he bases his spewings on facts. The fact that started this debate is that he’s of the opinion that rap is in no way part of the American culture. Although defined by the state department as being uniquely an original American art form. Rap is predominantly an Afro-American art form. What conclusion’s should be inferred from what Buchanan said? It is quite easy to see how people can deduce that Buchanan is of the ideology that if it is’nt white ( or derived from whites) then it is’nt right. I think that it is reasonable for someone of any race to be offended. From my years in the Army I have learned that no matter how well you have done in the past all it takes is one goof to destroy your previous work. This man was allowed to come on a highly public forum to show America that there are powerful people still out there with that mentality, and they are publicly working to change the world around them to (dare I say it) assimilate to their view. Yes, I think it would be reasonable to become at least a little upset. Especially if there is’nt a place for yourself in that picture of the world view that they are trying to create.
August 24th, 2006 at 5:25 pmwhite people
August 24th, 2006 at 6:17 pmPat Robertson has some kooky ideas but the fact is Americans are fed up with illegal immigration and the down grading of a quality of life one expects being a citizen of this country. Untrue for all other races but anything a white person says about preserving their culture is automatically dubbed racist…… I for one agree with PR that immigration has to be brought under control. If I wanted to live in Mexico I would move there. But gee I would not be able to own property or vote let alone run for office….. I am in favor of Mexicans and who ever els wants to migrate to the US of fighting for justice in there own country so they don’t have to leave. Trade and foreign policy should be gaged to help people who want leave places stay and build for themselves in their own country what ever it is they think they can find in the US…….. What is hard to admit is part of the reason people want to leave their countries is because their own culture, religious beliefs and elements of their own societies are the reasons their governments and markets don’t work. To bring that baggage here and to be so arrogant as to not want to shed what doesn’t work is just arrogant. Example, to come here and scratch out a living as an illegal and still go ahead and have three four five kids is not only arrogant it is stupid. A person who is smart and wants to assimilate by not abusing the system let alone common sense would not burden themselves or fellow tax payers with a large family they could not really afford. They would not stick the tax payer citizen with the social costs of that kind of arrogance. Overpopulation is a recipe for disaster. It is one of the reasons people leave their own country. Americans have no say about their borders or immigration policies. Corp. America is in charge and American citizens are tired of being strapped with the social costs of an unwanted foreign population who is not interested in assimilation. There is nothing racist about that. It has everything to do with common sense……
August 24th, 2006 at 6:22 pmI wonder if pat knows that mexicans aren’t the only hispanics. That’s the problem with people today if you’re hispanic you’re either puerto rican or mexican. well what about the dominicans, cubans, guatemalans, argentinans, colombians, peruvians, el salvadorians, belizians, panamanians, chileans, ecuadorians, venezualans, etc.etc…. Also why is race/ethnicity associated with music that’s so dumb. so let’s see I’m a dominican-american so I can’t listen to rock, freestyle, rap, dance… I can only listen to reggaeton, merengue and bachata. funny thing is when I used to dj at theis primarily mexican bar all they would wanna hear usually is reggaeton, merengue, bachata, or sometimes salsa. They weren’t telling me to play musica banda. end of rant
August 24th, 2006 at 6:35 pmALL WHO DISAGREE WITH PAT AT NAZI LIKE, AND CONDONE RASISM AGAINST WHITE AMERICA!
August 24th, 2006 at 6:48 pmALL WHO DISAGREE WITH PAT ARE NAZI LIKE, AND CONDONE RASISM AGAINST WHITE AMERICA!
August 24th, 2006 at 6:49 pmWhat’s messed up is that this guy gets airplay.
FOX, CNN, MSNBC have failed our democracy.
Commercial entertainment news networks
need to be held accountable for this crap.
News/information is too important to the health
of a democracy to be left in the hands of people
chasing after Nielsen numbers.
Look at the stupid headline of this article.
It was designed to grab your attention.
But did it actually reflect the nature of the
story accurately?
This crap is just a diversion.
The same way that the John Karr/
Jon Benet Ramsey story is a diversion.
A good diversion from Iraq and Afghanistan.
A good diversion from a larger war
that’s brewing in the Middle East
A good diversion from the coming recession.
For real news ~ International Herald Tribune,
Christian Science Monitor, a little farther left-
Democracy Now, or NPR.
Or check out Media Matters.
I’ll let someone else suggest good news sources
August 24th, 2006 at 6:57 pmfor conservatives…
pat should hang out with the other crazy racist pat ‘ ,you know ,the one who wants people assinated for trying to do better for the people in his country. It’s funny you know the more you listen to republicans the more they start to sound all the same .They call it a unified message which sounds to me that all republicans are just stupid racists and elitists.pats racist message is no different than george bush feels inside ,only he’s not stupid enough to come out and say it,(god forbid I just said george bush isn’t stupid ,geez what am i saying)
August 24th, 2006 at 7:09 pmWhy did no one say the no gringo day in May was racist? Did not millions of Hispanics endorse no Gringo day and boycott Whites? What about their racism? What would the media and Hispanics done if millions of whites boycotted Hispanics under the banner of no wetback day?
One of the biggest lies in America is that Anglos are the only racists. Look at Mexico. If you want to see a racist, caste society, look there. Whites are on top, Mestizos are in the middle and pure Indians are at the bottom. Who are the Mexicans to scream racism when they have not cleaned up their own back yard?
Remember during the Los Angeles riots in 1992, when the white truck driver, Reginald Denny, was pulled out of his truck and beaten nearly to death for being white, no one called that a racist attack, especially in the media.
If you want to see the true racist who are pitting American ethnic groups against each other, look at the people who run the media. It would be enlightening to do a survey about their ethnicity. Why did they run this story.
What Buchanan said was his opinion and unworthy of this sensationalism. This is America where freedom of speech is supposed to be tolerated. I guess the comissars who run the media only like certain speech. Where is everyone’s tolerance, multiculturalism and diversity now?

Have you ever worked with a hispanic? I have had the honor number of times
to work with them. One was as a laborer picking strawberrys, the second as a
platoon leader (USMC), and as a professor of mathematics. In all
situations they were reliable, hard working very good people to be around.
I strongly suggest that you grow up and learn some tolerance and make an effor

Sorry about the typos!
August 24th, 2006 at 7:36 pmThank you, John (148). I probably disapgree with you on almost everything politically, but you are on the money when you describe the nonsense we are fed by the media as ‘attention grabbers’ and diversions. Your right, regardless of one’s view, we are surrounded by potentialy life-changing events on a daily basis. Unfortunately, right or left, my guess is that 70% of adult Americans are more aware that Survivor has been broken up into racial tribes or heard about the nuances of John MarkCarr’s statements, neither of which has any real significance. RE: Conservative outlets I like are the National Journal in print, Fox News on the boob-tube and Michael Medved on radio.

THE REAL PROBLEM HERE IS THAT AMERICANS ARE NOT SEEING THE LIGHT. HOW LONG WOULD WE SURVIVE WAVING A FOREIGN FLAG IN MEXICO, OR ANY OTHER SOUTHERN COUNTRY? HOW LONG WOULD WE SURVIVE IF WE SNUCK INTO MEXICO AND BEGAN TELLING MEXICANS THAT THEY NEED TO LEARN ENGLISH?
August 24th, 2006 at 7:50 pmTHESE PEOPLE ARE HERE TO SUBVERT!
Everyone needs to accept that THIS IS AMERICA! We do not owe hispanic people anything! How dare they disrespect America and feel a sense of entitlement when most of them pay NOTHING is taxes, yet make a fair amount of money, some are making a great deal of TAX FREE money.
August 24th, 2006 at 7:54 pmTown’s in mexico are improving because of America! ONLY BECAUSE OF AMERICA! You would think that these people would be grateful?

August 24th, 2006 at 7:58 pmMr. Buchanan (and almost everyone else) seems to conveniently forget that the TRUE Americans are the Native Americans who lived here before the ‘white men’ ‘discovered’ their country (which was never lost in the first place-the idiots just mistook it for China)
Unless you’re descended from a Native American, your ancestors came here as immigrants (and that includes Pat’s; Buchanan is an Irish name, so I wouldn’t be surprised if his family came to Ellis Island after the potato famine). My own family came from England and Norway.
And really, it’s only recently that people have started kicking up a fuss about immigrants learning English and ‘becoming part of the American Culture.’ Before that, immigrants were strongly encouraged to all live in one area (they called them ‘ghettos’), especially if English wasn’t their native language. They were encouraged to stay as far away from legal, law-abiding ‘white’ Americans (even if the immigrants themselves were white) as possible.
Mr. Buchanan, and a good many other people, seem to forget that what originally made America what it is was the ethnic diversity. Anyone could come here and start over. So what if they want to speak their native language at home? How is they’re doing that hurting you? So what if notices have to be written in both English and Spanish. At the doctor I go to;s office they’re also written in Chinese, Japanese, French, Italian, Viatnamese, and half a dozen other languages) and it has yet to affect the qual
