Too many students were making the link (it is no longer missing?) between DUHbya and the next step up the evolutionary ladder–the Chimp. Click on Clyde for pictorial proof.
I’m suprised they didn’t also wipe out 40.0604 - Paleontology. We all know that the entire universe has only been around for 7000 years. Any fossil evidence pointing to life before this time period is obviously the work of Satan.
In the link supplied by the NY Times (and TP) , there is another missing line, although I can’t figure out what political reason exists for removing it. It is:
26.0908 Exercise Physiology. (NEW) A program that focuses on the scientific study of the physiological processes involved in physical or motor activity, including sensorimotor interactions, response mechanisms, and the effects of injury, disease, and disability. Includes instruction in muscular and skeletal anatomy; molecular and cellular basis of muscle contraction; fuel utilization; neurophysiology of motor mechanics; systemic physiological responses (respiration, blood flow, endocrine secretions, and others); fatigue and exhaustion; muscle and body training; physiology of specific exercises and activities; physiology of injury; and the effects of disabilities and disease.
Probably because they don’t want to spend scholarship money on people majoring in GYM CLASS. Honestly, Division I schools gladly provide the “scholar”ship money for these footba^W guys.
Since the courts will not allow “creationism” to be taught in science classes in public schools, the Repugs will not allow evolution to be taught, either. This way they win.
#5 - Manny’s…very good question. i don’t know the answer but i applaud you for asking it. i glanced at this story on Huffinton earlier and am glad to see it here too. makes me think - all the big front page apocolypse and fear-mongering stories that have seemingly taken up all our attention all this time…what have they been doing when they think no one is looking? well this time, someone was looking. this is obviously not about discouraging Gym Class majors. This is about dictating as to what low-income people may or may not study in pursuit of higher education and it’s clear - your academic goals must match up with Bushco’s dellusionist world view. Evolutionary biology is apparently just as academically significant to the assminitration as Gym Class is to Jeb (#12). It’s a damn fairy tale and these poor lazy bastards won’t get to hear about that drivle on the government’s dime! Tax-payers? Pphtt! Science? Pshaw! We have to fix this. If this doesn’t get addressed, they’ll think they can get away with it. Then what will be next? No OB/GYN school for poor folk cuz they’ll just use the medical knowledge to perform abortions? This has to change. Now how do we do it???
Let the yokels watch the Flintstones and think it’s a documentary. The state of education is now so low in this country that the entire empire is about to collapse under the weight of its own stupidity. Good riddance.
Why the hell is there not more discussion here? Everyone’s flipping out about the black kids on the bus - and it’s a good topic, don’t get me wrong. I’m there too. But…but…what about the evolutionary biologists that will never be? Someone on Huffington Post (i think) said the government has also now decreed that dinosaurs will from this point on be referred to as Jesus Horses. I thought you all should know. :)
Yes, indeed, if you are low income, you will meet obstacles in your educational advancement lest you make the chimp in chief look bad.
What will be the next thing they deny to those accepting aid? Anthropology? Astronomy? After all, if the earth is only 6000 years old, those studies are false.
But.. but.. evolution is not science… and.. and.. science is like a religion anyway, which would mean that you have to believe in evolution just like you believe in god and stuff… plus, we should let the kids decide for themselves… and… look over there! A homosexual illegal alien who wants to vote for Clinton!!!
Doe’s this mean “My Pet Goat” will no longer be available to the demotic populi and only available only to the so called GOoP elites?

August 24th, 2006 at 12:00 pminstead of ranting about one more absurdity, how do we actually fix this one?
August 24th, 2006 at 12:05 pmDevolving science.
August 24th, 2006 at 12:08 pmWhile I wouldn’t put it past them to do that, where does this fit in?
Is there a previous list to compare to?
August 24th, 2006 at 12:09 pmAhhh… it feels good living in 1984, doesn’t it? No need to think or learn, Big Brother will tell us what we need to know.
