Donald, Donald, Donald! You can’t be Santa Claus because there is no Santa Claus… just like there are no Iraqis greeting you in the streets with flowers, just like there were no weapons of mass destruction. It was all a big lie that you told and now Poof!
You are Satan Claus.
Podium Boy leads a charmed life. Being one of this century’s Right Brothers (Bush, Cheney, Rove, and Rummy) has benefits, and doubt in not among them. Rummy has never had a day of doubt in his life. We just don’t get it. Repetition and spin just doesn’t sink in with us. “When are we going ever going to get his message” he thinks to himself. His motto of “Speak ye unto thyself and others will follow”, well the President gave him a green card to put punch behind those words. The reality of this dream is the Right Brothers NEVER wake up. Hang on fellow countrymen, “we are far from out of the woods” yet. Those who would hang security as treats to give up our liberties ceratinly have more in mind than our protection. Perhaps our complete control and supervision would be their desserts.
Things will not be necessarily continuous.
The fact that they are something other than perfectly continuous
Ought not to be characterized as a pause.
There will be some things that people will see.
There will be some things that people won’t see.
And life goes on.
at the time, i was thinking about santa and his ability to know when you are good and when you are bad—simultaneously with this quote, the nsa and the department of homeland security began looking through your trash, listening to your phone calls, and making you fearful of offending the bush [banned word] family and being taken to guantanamo to be tortured.
This person by the name of Rumsfeld is an insulting criminal bastard. Talking to the American people (and especially those that have lost loved ones in his insane greedy war) as if they are children. You are a disgrace Mr. Rumsfeld. We are not children Mr. Rumsfeld. And you are going to be held accountable…you slimy bastard.
No, I don’t give up.
It’s a silly post. One covered almost 12 hrs. ago (on Huffington, nor Raw Story. I was wrong…. which I have no problem admitting, unlike certain Administrators…)
And since it is such OLD NEWS, I have no problem asking how my fellow posters are…..
Nothing, Jr, I do nothing…heh.

With the one-year anniversary of hurricane Katrina and the destruction of New Orleans now at hand, the Bush administration has launched its revisionist history project. As President Bush said on September 1, 2005, “I don’t think anybody anticipated the breach of the levees.”
Nobody, of course, except the National Weather Service.
Look Rummy didn’t leave US soil when he was in the military. He was a teacher and never saw action. Bush/Cheney/Rummy have on experience in military action so you understand why it’s so easy to have men/women die without a second thought. To these guys our troops aren’t human just like a video game. McCain watched and supported Bush and even gave him a hug but now he wants Americans to remember he was action in war and a prisoner of war. Why didn’t he stop or at least speak up for our soldiers as Bush sent them to die. I guess these guys will say and so anything for a vote. Look Americans believed the GOP were the religious family values story in the name of God and turns out they are Satan worshipers who would have thought. Now McCain is using the same evil plan I think Americans know better now.
Defense Secretary Donald Rumsfeld yesterday praised the work of an Army brigade whose one-year tour in Iraq was extended just as they prepared to return home, and said he saw no reason for the soldiers or their families to be angry at him.
“I don’t put it in that context,” he said. “These people are all volunteers. They all signed up. They all are there doing what they’re doing because they want to do it.”
***
The brigade’s tour was extended by up to 120 days, bringing them close to a Christmas return date. Rumsfeld said he would make no promises that the full brigade would be back home by the holidays.
So, they’ve done nearly a year, now to be extended another 3 months with no guarantee that they won’t be extended even more. If, in fact, “They all are there doing what they’re doing because they want to do it.” why doesn’t he just have those who volunteer for the extended tour of duty stay?
Jennifer Davis of Anchorage, whose husband is a member of the 172nd:
“I am totally frustrated, disappointed and heartbroken,” she said in the statement. “Just when I thought we were going to be able to resume a ‘normal’ life and when I thought the nightmare was over, the nightmare was extended.”
The disconnect between Rumsfeld’s talking points and the reality that these military families face is…well…typical for this entire Administration and the 30% of the populace who blindly follow them.
The harsh and cruel reality is that some of these young men (and women? are women in this unit?) will likely die during this extended stay.RM’S WAY
Could we have some context on this item please? A source? I mean, sure it’s funny to quote things like that from neo-con, authoritarian, ego-maniacal jerks like Donald Rumsfeld, but it’s not like nobody has ever used that expression before. So in what context did this quote arise?
Good Day All, Rummy is the #2 pramoter right behind cheney and ahead of rove. Every one in this administration are pure evil. War profiters, period.
Unless we can remove them all we are on a cycle of evil deeds by actions or intended neglect. There doesn’t sappear to be any true conservatives left, only neocons.
Our own party, for the most part, have turned into sleep walkers, serving their own self intrests first and our constitution, country and her people last….
For change to take place we must stand up in huge numbers and march, e-mail and vote out any and all that are going along for the ride.
There is only a hand full of worthy people to represent us and “Santa Clause” has been replaced with evil in the name of Rumsfeld, he is not a leader and not sane either, the only thing he represent’s for his bunch is killing…For the first time in recent history I think all these people should be tried for war crimes and put in prison, forever…………..
Well it’s Monday and I wonder what dreadful thing’s are they going to do today……Blessings..Peace,demand it
There is something about this that strikes me as actual cruelty on Rumsfeld’s part. Allowing some of the troops to make it all the way home, when he knew he was going to make them go back, deliberately devastating these families, who have already been through so much, thanks to him. Then he compounds the trauma by going to Alaska himself, to announce his decision. Then he has the incredible GALL to say that the troops ‘volunteered’, so don’t blame HIM for making them go back to Iraq, he is just the Secretary of Defense, after all. Then the biggest jerk of all time claims that the return date is not up to him. LIAR!!! He is a boil on the butt of humanity.
Yeah, they all volunteered. Let’s see how the continued recruitment of high schoolers goes forward. As prospective recruits hear about this type of shitty treatment, more of them will see the truth of this neocon disaster.
#53 Thanks, James. I did not see the link under the date. I appreciate it. Now I can decide just how insensitive the remark was in its proper context.
Okay, I’ve read the whole thing. What a dick! You know, Mr. Rumsfeld, if you had done a better job of training our troops’ replacements, maybe they could come home for the holidays, you insenstive blowhole. Better yet, why don’t you spend that 120 days and any others you extend them for with them in Iraq? You’ll find out quickly enough just how close to being Santa Claus you can get.
