Yesterday on Fox News, Neil Cavuto brought on exercise guru Richard Simmons and boxing promoter Don King to talk about the one year anniversary of Hurricane Katrina. One viewer’s reaction to the hard-hitting segments:
Tom Cruise has really fallen off his pedestal as well. Glad to see people are shunning his outrageous religious behavior. I just wish they’d apply the same scrutiny to the George W Bush.
Coming up on Cavuto we will talk with political analysts Vanilla Ice, Flava Flav and Charo. Stay tuned to FAUX News, we treat you contempt day in and day out.
Why can’t we see soneone who is not an apologist for Bush on this show? Don King, agent for Rich Simmons. Guess Don can sweat that ‘do out with the oldies…
I think (Fox News?) should do a round table with Homer Simpson, George Allen, Mr T and the two Bush ass kissing pimp (journalists?) that lost the way in Gaza.
Faux News and their ratings have plummeted in the past few months. I guess they haved reached a new low! Thanks RUP for trying but the American plubic have caught on to your sham.
As I commented earlier–at first I thought this was a joke and probably is still with regard to Don King. However, Simmons grew up in the French Quarter and was talking about how he helped his brother who was devastated by the storm. He bought the guy a new house. He was critical of BushCo at the end and on the verge of tears, and Cavuto cut him off. There was a point to talking to Simmons, so we shouldn’t automatically assume it bad.
But we would all do well to have a little bit of reality tempered with our opinions of Fox and the link. Get off the internet and talk to regular folks YOU DON’T KNOW about this stuff.
I think you’ll be shocked to find that people are eating this shit up.
Cavuto should pull a Kyria Phillips and leave his microphone on and then take a big fat dump. That would then encapsulate the Fox News experience in total.
I check in on StinkProgress once every few months for a good laugh. I guess I always hope some “progressive” person will write a coherent thought. Instead of mature dialogue, I see nothing but juveninle banter among not-very-bright people who seem to regard themselves as terrible failures. If only some of you could put this effort towards improving your economic situations, your level of literacy, and your attention spans. Probably asking too much. Now, back to your one sentence blurtations and mistake-marred utterances.
Instead of mature dialogue, I see nothing but juveninle banter among not-very-bright people who seem to regard themselves as terrible failures.
Comment by Buckshot — August 30, 2006 @ 7:32 pm
Mature? Let me tell you what “mature” means, buckwheat: it means being able to admit when you are wrong, a quality sadly lacking among Republicans. It means engaging in honest debate, rather than deliberately obfuscating and dissembling. It means telling the truth, not denying it. It means eschewing hypocrisy, even though there may be a personal cost.
Neil, Neil…when you gonna get some real info on your Snooze show, buddy? I liked it better when you were doin’ stories on the latest boner pill, and “c” movie queens gettin’ their botox enemas. Gawd I miss the hard-hittin information from the old Neil.
First of all, sounds like Buckshot needs to take the “barrel” out of his keister.
Second, Hasn’t everyone here noticed the utter lack of humor on their part? Are they suffering from ‘Irony-Poor blood’ or something?
Third, It seems to me that of the portion of people unwilling or unable to apologize, progressives would make up a very small percentage.
Those in step with Authoritarian type leadership, however, do not see the errors, because in doing so, it would make their leader-figure fallable. That is not acceptable, to them.
Lastly, Mature?
My motto has long been, “You’re only young once, but you can be immature forever.”
(And that, my barrel-plugged friend, is funny!)
Tp takes a break for humor with the Fox thread, and Buckshot uses that for his lame example. If he really read TP he would see the valuable information, the historical facts, the intelligent comments, and satirical humor; but he chooses instead to think that he is better than we are. Ignoramus.
We don’t lie here, we try to find the truth; we don’t try to “spin” it, we analyze; we don’t simply accept, we debate and we posit new ideas and possible solutions; we learn from one another. Oh, we bitch and moan too, but that is only human and given something ridiculous, we do make jokes and snicker. We aren’t afraid to speak truth to power – those on conservative sites and programs aren’t allowed to do so, are intimidated to even try, or are brainwashed by their own propaganda.
Real Scientist is absolutely correct when he says: It means being able to admit when you are wrong, a quality sadly lacking among Republicans. It means engaging in honest debate, rather than deliberately obfuscating and dissembling. It means telling the truth, not denying it. It means eschewing hypocrisy, even though there may be a personal cost.
I have to admit it, our new old friend Buttshot, is more humorous than Cavuto ever thought of being. Maybe Jackoff will be along soon, and he and Buttshot can be BFF.
“Twenty Bucks, Same as in Town”. You know what it is. You know what to do. Go check it out. It’s a helluva lineup, this week. Pay careful attention to tristero’s review of Berube’s new book then lean on the big dog blogs to start whoring it at their own places.
Mr. Class-Act-He-Ain’t Cavuto once read a viewers’s mail to the effect that the federal debt is was not his debt, it was the ‘gov’mint’s debt , a sentiment, with its sturdy foundation in economics, if not responsibilty, answered by Neil grimmacing approvingly. Kinda dovetails with ‘worthless I.O.U.s’.
I regret to inform ya’ll that I will be taking a break from the blogosphere or a while. I have become seriously overweight as a result of hours of sitting in front of the computer screen and I need desperately to get back into shape. Sorry Ya’ll.
Bush has gone to Mormon Zombieland where his approval rating is still in the 60’s. Many Mormons’ believe in supporting authority figures and in not voicing dissent.
So let’s keep Mitt Romney 1000 miles from the Whitehouse.
Good point, GSD. Our concern should not be with so-called conservatives, but rather the right-wing authoritarian followers who support them for all the wrong reasons (one of which is that you should always support the person in charge no matter what.)
It is these kinds of people who make a horrible presidency like the current one possible. Everyone should keep in mind that the President of the United States works for us, not the other way around.
What I find interesting is the blinkered trolls such as Aphrodite, Roger_Roger, Buckshot and a few variations insist on repeatedly coming to a site that supposedly is of no importance or consequence to their viewpoints. Aside from the possibility they may be the same few people using different nicknames their presence here actually vindicates the site
How you may ask? because the information and posters here are a threat to them
Any normal person with even a modicum of strategic thinking when faced with something that is irrelevent and not a threat to their position will just ignore it and move on to the real threats. As these people keep coming back here to troll and try to rubbish everything, that presence proves the site is working and is a threat to their beliefs and their position. Most of the time they can’t even come up with a rational counterargument and invariably resort to insults, trying to take things off topic, changing the subject and other disingenious methods to derail the topic.
All very clear examples of how much of a threat it is to their psyche which in turn helps legitimise and vindicate the content of this site and various posts.
They make a fumble and get squashed in their own endzone by trying so hard to rubbish everything. You hear that y’all?
The only other explanation is that they have some kind of serious mental condition where they insist on coming back to somewhere where they have been repeatedly proven wrong or defeated in argument, made themselves look like complete uneducated fools to the world. Only some kind of sadomasochist would willingly keep submitting themselves to that kind of trauma. In which case, seek professional help.
But back on topic, I wonder if those viewer mails now end up being censored (more so) since I find it hard to believe Fox Moos would allow something like that; maybe the Ministry of Truth people there were asleep when it happened and missed it.
The real hardhitting questions I wanted answered were; When will N.O. be safe for Richard to wear his candy-striped short-shorts again and why didn’t FEMA use Deal-A-Meal at the Superdome.
#54, your comment is one to note.
Coincidentally I have just finished reading “Under the Banner of Heaven.” Unlike the climate in the 60’s when Kennedy had to convince us that his Catholicism wouldn’t enter the White House, the cilmate today is exactly the opposite.
I don’t think we want Romney in the White House.
Interestingly enough, Jimmy Carter was elected largely because he was a born again Christian. Then someone figured out how to manipulate religious conservatives and this eventually led to George Bush being in the White House today.
I can’t helping wondering how many of the people (rightly) mocking Cavuto’s “experts” are fans of Bill Maher, who regularly invites no-nothing celebrities onto his show to discuss politics.
Far be it for me to remind everyone who has forgotten that this is America, and everybody, whether it is Richard Simmons, or Don King, have the right to say what
they want to say. Richard has every right to be passionate about his home town,
and to say what he feels. Perhaps Don King, a boxing promoter, before he throws stones at Richard saying he is a great exerciser and should just do that, should remember that he was just a boxing promoter!!! Don King should also remember that we have had an actor as a President, had an actor as a Governor, had a wrestler as a governor … in other words, anybody has a right to be political, because they are an American, and that is a right we are all given, no matter what career we choose. And if anybody listened to Richard, they would have heard a very bright man speak from his heart. Perhaps it is time to listen, and stop throwing stones. He only wants what is best for the people of New Orleans, for his family and friends who live there, and for his memory of the town he grew up in.
