to create a U.N. peacekeeping force in Darfur, despite opposition from the Khartoum government. The force — which wouldn’t be deployed until Sudan agrees — would “replace or absorb an African Union force in Darfur, which has only enough money to exist until its mandate expires on September 30 and has been unable to end the humanitarian crisis.”
Darfur has oil reserves that rival Saudi Arabia’s .
Don’t tell the Decider!
August 31st, 2006 at 3:20 pmDarfur…Darfur?
August 31st, 2006 at 3:23 pmOh, yeah–Islomo Fascists!
Meanwhile, the slaughter of innocents goes on…
And we’re stuck “attacking windmills” (a la Don Quixote) in Iraq.
What a waste of time, energy, manpower and treasure!
August 31st, 2006 at 3:32 pmNow is the time to tell Congress to step it up!
Find out whether your members of Congress are leading on Darfur — and contact them on the issue — at DarfurScores.org
August 31st, 2006 at 3:36 pmThey are black there, so no money, no help. If this was going on in Norway we would help. Even with the oil, we won’t help. We will wait until the population is already depleted and the area is overun with Arabs, then we will take on the country claiming the Arabs are terrosts. Then we get the oil.
August 31st, 2006 at 3:43 pmThis is all about oil.
Concern comes into play when there is profits to be made.
It is quite sick to watch all this insincerity.
August 31st, 2006 at 3:48 pm$100 million? Is that all? Hell, we blow more than double that amount EVERY DAY in Iraq! But, uhhh… they are great at making promises, but when it comes to money, if they don’t have a way of getting most of it back, through buying products from America, hiring American ‘contractors, things like that, their butt cheeks sqwinch up so tight that you couldn’t pull a hair through. So, a back-up plan would be a good thing to have. You can’t guilt trip these people. It is a feeling they do not possess, that would require a conscience, right?
August 31st, 2006 at 3:59 pmThe bush administration falters when putting $100 million dollars to save lives but when they want fake propoganda news coming from Iraq showing all the “good” that is going on….they cut a check for $20 million without even batting an eye. Morals in place? Check. In the toilet….[flush]
August 31st, 2006 at 4:05 pmIf you are going to make a comment about this artical make a comment. DON’T go off about OIL or money which was not in that artical. You LIB’s are F*&^&ing carzy!!

August 31st, 2006 at 4:40 pmTrue American,
Which tribe do you belong to?
Unlike Iraq, this may be a country that needs a heavy hand from outside benevolent nations. What a pitty.
August 31st, 2006 at 5:50 pmWhatever happened to the international responsibilities in regard to genocide? There are treaties that have been agreed to for just such a situation.
Interesting, very interesting …
Since Sudan, Chad and Somolia are thinly veiled fronts for the spread of Islamo-fascism, it will be interesting to see how well (if at all) these UN troops succeed at protecting African tribes from Islamic militants trying to seize control of the region. Will the UN really engage in the War on Terror / Islamo-fascism directly? They were forced to intervene between Israel and Hezbollah, but that will eventually fail.
I like that the UN is finally getting off its butt, however, they will be quickly over-run by these Islamo-fascist. At least then the world will wake up to the battle the US is already fighting.
