On September 10 and 11, ABC will air a “docudrama” called “The Path to 9/11.” It was written by Cyrus Nowrasteh, who describes himself as “more of a libertarian than a strict conservative,” and is giving interviews to hard-right sites like FrontPageMag to promote the film.
What will it say about President Clinton? Here’s Rush Limbaugh with a preview:
A friend of mine [Cyrus Nowrasteh] out in California has produced and filmed — I think it’s a two-part mini-series on 9/11 that ABC is going to run in prime-time over two nights, close to or on 9/11. It’s sort of surprising that ABC’s picked it up, to me. I’ve had a lot of people tell me about it, my friends told me about it…And from what I have been told, the film really zeros in on the shortcomings of the Clinton administration in doing anything about militant Islamofascism or terrorism during its administration. It cites failures of Bill Clinton and Madeleine Albright and Sandy Burglar.
How does it deal with President Bush? Salon has a review:
Condoleezza Rice gets that fated memo about planes flying into buildings, and makes it very clear to anyone who’ll listen just how concerned President Bush is about these terrorist threats — despite the fact that we’re given little concrete evidence of the president’s concern or interest in taking action. Maybe my memory fails me, but the only person I remember talking about Osama bin Laden back in 1998 was President Clinton, while the current anti-terrorist stalwarts worked the country into a frenzy over what? Blow jobs. In the end, “The Path to 9/11″ feels like an excruciatingly long, winding and deceptive path, indeed.
The director of the film, David Cunningham, is already backtracking about its accuracy, saying “this is not a documentary.” OK, fair enough. But the movie is being billed as “based on The 9/11 Commission Report.”
We need to get all over ABC on this one. This is nothing more than rignt-wing propaganda posing as entertainment.
September 1st, 2006 at 11:23 amWhat a crock of sh*t!
September 1st, 2006 at 11:23 amMore Propaganda bull from the Neo Cons anyone with half a Brain now knows 9/11 was an inside job lie runs sprints but the truth runs marathons down with the New World Order
September 1st, 2006 at 11:25 amOne man’s David Cunningham is another’s Michael Moore. It’s a film folks. If it’s put out by ABC’s news division I’d be concerned.Remember it’s a film.
September 1st, 2006 at 11:25 amFYI – the trolls will be all over this – guaranteed – so arm yourselves!!!!!
Clinton, 9/11 and the Facts

fly-man – the LEFT BEHIND series was a novel….
September 1st, 2006 at 11:26 amWhen will the Right stop blaming Clinton for everything? Is there anything at all that isn’t his fault? Will no one in the Bush Administration take responsibility for a major disaster that took place on their watch – and after they were repeatedly warned by the Clinton Administration about Osama bin Laden?
September 1st, 2006 at 11:26 ami caught the “blame clinton” message in the tv ads…
in 30 seconds it was possible to figure out where this was going…
really disappointed to see harvey keitel was in it…
September 1st, 2006 at 11:27 am1984 all over again. We have always been at war with Eurasia.
September 1st, 2006 at 11:29 amI wonder if ABC will run a mini-series on how Saddam was put into power and who he received weapons and money from.
September 1st, 2006 at 11:30 amI LOVE BRITISH TELEVISION – they are currently making a movie about the assasination of GWB – documentary style – a thriller to be sure. I read about it yesterday – I’ll try and find out more. But the premise is – after giving a speech in Chicago – he is gunned down as he is leaving….who done it? antiwar protestors, FBI, CIA????
September 1st, 2006 at 11:33 amThis is another example of why Bush say’s thay his presidency can’t be judged until 30 or 40 years hence;because he knows his lackey lapdogs will scrub history like this.
September 1st, 2006 at 11:38 amWell, I hope he enjoy’s his good reviews from Hell.
It is time for Clinton to stand up for himself and sue these bastards. They have dragged his name through the mud long enough it is time for him to get angry and get the truth out about what he did and didn’t do. If it keeps it in the headlines so be it, but the thing now is to reveal the lie because the Democrats have let the neocons get away with this propaganda long enough.
Now it is time for a scream. ABC needs to be brought to its knees and have its balls lopped off, because this is one lie too many.
September 1st, 2006 at 11:39 amBush deserves ZERO praise for 9/11 > he alone is responsible for allowing it to happen!
September 1st, 2006 at 11:42 amFormer President Clinton needs to stop hanging out with Bush Senior, and call Bush Junior a stupid fool who needs to resign for allowing 9/11 to happen in the first place!
September 1st, 2006 at 11:45 ammadashell #5…uh, yeah!! we will be all over this…..but I will let you lefties rant and rave for a bit and jump in later…….take care ladies….talk soon…..
September 1st, 2006 at 11:48 amWhy do they call it a docudrama? It’s republican trash, bought and paid for with taxpayers’ money. To call it anything other than a fictional story peddled to the msm is a lie.
September 1st, 2006 at 11:48 amDeception and lies, the republican mantra.
September 1st, 2006 at 11:49 amHopefully, this new 911 will blow up in their faces.
It’s time to kill your TV and america’s lovefest with lies.
from what I have been told, the film really zeros in on the shortcomings of the Clinton administration in doing anything about militant Islamofascism or terrorism during its administration. It cites failures of Bill Clinton and Madeleine Albright and Sandy Burglar.
right there the Administrations talking points, this guy is an Admin plant.
September 1st, 2006 at 11:51 amperhaps we should just stay away from that thread – let the trolls have at it by THEMSELVES!
September 1st, 2006 at 11:55 amDidn’t The Brady Bunch and the Beach Boys also have Docudramas made about them?
September 1st, 2006 at 11:56 amIf the docudrama really is “based on the 9/11 Commission Report”, then it is not based on fact. The 9/11 Commission report is NOT what happened that day. It is only a narrative of the official government version of what happened.
September 1st, 2006 at 11:56 amMore people died on Memorial day weekend in traffic accidents than on 9/11. Where is the Government’s Highway Commission Report about those deaths and property loss? We have such a bizarre sense of zero tolerance for deaths in this country it just blows my mind. Wouldn’t it be better to take out terrorist insurance and go after OPEC and cut the funding out from these people who hate us? 300 Billion and 2700 of the Military’s finest is the greatest waste of resources for what we have received in return is deplorable. Name one example of any, any, attempt to over throw our government. Carnage is carnage, on the road or at the hands of Psychotic 7th Century jihadists we shouldn’t assume some lives are worth protecting more than others.
September 1st, 2006 at 11:57 amPropaganda – information or ideas that are methodically spread by an organized group or government to influence people’s opinions, esp. by not giving all the facts or by secretly emphasizing only one way of looking at the facts
Two words for anyone who doesn’t recall Clinton’s enthusiasm for hunting Bin Ladin and Al Queda: ‘aspirin factory’
In fact, Clinton ignored Reno’s suggestion that the evidence of bin Ladin involvement in African embassy bombings might not be sufficient justification for bombing the chemical plant.
Clinton got endless sh*t from the Republicans for trying to chase down bin Ladin at the time, and every effort to fight the war – WHICH BEGAN LONG BEFORE 9/11 – was met with cries of ‘wag the dog.’
Republicans opened the door for Al Queda to attack us on our own soil. Enough of this crap, take responsibility for hedging your bets against a bunch of 3rd world terrorists and stop pretending that we don’t remember the sh*t you pulled.
September 1st, 2006 at 12:01 pmHere’s Lyndon Johnson talking about the Vietnam War:
Everything I know about history told me that if I got out of Vietnam and let Ho Chi Minh run through the streets of Saigon, then I’d be doing exactly what Chamberlain did in WWII. I’d be giving a big fat reward for aggression.
September 1st, 2006 at 12:03 pmOh, I can just picture a “South Park” parody! Maybe “Pathway to 10/31″ where BushCo people dress up like famous American heroes and go door to door begging for “powerhouse” candybars.
September 1st, 2006 at 12:03 pmBy the end of the century it will be taught as fact in history classes in our public schools — if we still have them — that Clinton’s dick brought down both towers of the WTC.
I’m not sure who will get the blame for the Pentagon. Perhaps our grandchildrens’ children will learn how Michael Moore — did I mention he’s fat? — sat on it.
September 1st, 2006 at 12:03 pmPeople will just see it as a joke movie if its inaccurate… Bush attacked the wrong country… Now we have a gigantic mess in Iraq. For what?… Nothing, nothing, nothing and some more nothing. I believe what Richard Clarke says about how Clinton and Bush behaved. I don’t think he favors either one of them.
September 1st, 2006 at 12:07 pmthe greatest waste of resources for what we have received in return…
Comment by the fly-man — September 1, 2006 @ 11:57 am
aaahh see… THAT’s the deal… there was little thought about the “we”, as in “we the people”… but a good many people made out handsomely, a very good “return” for them…
but you all know that…
and madashell – i like that idea! i’m sure there are lots of reasons why it won’t work, but it would be a great expirement!
i’m off to mowe – will check on that sandbox when i return!
September 1st, 2006 at 12:07 pmIs anyone really surprised? To the right everything Clinton has done is bad, regardless of what happened during his tenure it was all bad, anything good was simply an illusion or a benefit he inherited from Reagan’s good policies. The people who praise this movie which is based on loose interpretations are also the same people who shit a brick when the Reagan movie was going to be aired with his comments about AIDS. Of course the comments were taken straight from a bio that had been out for ten years at the time, but they did not want Reagan painted in any unflattering light, even if what was being said was documented.
September 1st, 2006 at 12:07 pmOh, Wayne….No! Don’t tell me you are a 9/11 conspiracy theorist???? We may disagree politically, but you always seemed to have your feet on the ground.
September 1st, 2006 at 12:13 pmThis is from ABC/Mickey Mouse.
Remember: This is the same network that tried to shut down Michael Moore’s “Fahrenheit 9/11.”
OF all the lapdog media, ABC has demonstrated to the MOST sycophantic and submissive to the Bush administration, by a long shot.
I am not surprised they are airing this turd. They are rewriting history as fast as they can.
September 1st, 2006 at 12:13 pmAnother tool for the propaganda machine. I seem to have read that Condi didn’t take the terrorist threat very seriously and when and an aid informed the president of what the ill fated memo said his reply was ” o.k. you’ve covered your ass.” (read the “one percent doctrine.”)
September 1st, 2006 at 12:13 pmMore lies. More deceit. The repugnacan party still hasn’t learned.
It’s a movie. Might not like the premise, but it is a movie. If we tell ABC not to run it, we are as bad as the right and limiting theior right to run whatever movie they want.

September 1st, 2006 at 12:14 pmWho can we call at ABC to stop the spread?
September 1st, 2006 at 12:19 pmI wonder, do they bring up how Clinton wanted to work on this problem but he was busy getting impeached because of a blowjob?
September 1st, 2006 at 12:22 pmAmerica’s Least Wanted
Sounds a lot like that other masterpiece of complete bullshit, “DC 9/11″.
September 1st, 2006 at 12:24 pmExley,
#1) The magic number is down to 15;
#2) The official 9/11 Commission report is, itself, a “conspiracy theory”, so don’t denigrate the term itself. (Their “theory” was that the highjackers “conspired” to commit those crimes); and
#3) All I said was that what the “official” report says is not what happened. There are many discrepancies between what they said happened and what eyewitnesses said happened. I did NOT, however, say in that comment anything about what I thought really did happen, and my thoughts may have changed since my previous posts months ago On the subject, so they are no indication of anything.
We may never know what really happened that day, but there are plenty of good solid reasons to believe that it didn’t happen the way the Commission said it did. And that is all I was saying.
Hopefully, by the time I get to post again on Tuesday, the magic number will be down below ten.
September 1st, 2006 at 12:27 pmPerhaps I’m mistaken, but it would seem that in the view of propagandists like this jackass, Clinton should have invaded Iraq with no exit strategy or military mission and not enough troops in 1998, sparking a bloody sectarian civil war that encouraged jihadism and anti-Americanism among Muslims and alienated all our allies, turning the vast majorities of the populations of countries like UK, France, Japan, and Australia into anti-American reactionaries, weakening our military deterrent capacity immensely, and ceding enormous influence to France, Iran, Venezuela, and China in Europe, Middle East, South America, and Asia respectively. And that THIS would be the solution to preventing a terrorist attack against the US.
Phucking morons.
September 1st, 2006 at 12:28 pmNot sure I’d go that far. Just Weds., ABC aired the “WE’RE ALL GOING TO DIE!” special (which looked at the top five disasters that could befall mankind). In it, they pertty much blew the whole “global warming doesn’t exist” crowd out of the water.
To be honest, I was surprised they did that part of it so well.
Of course, this flaming turd of a “docudrama” pretty much negates their acceptance of global warming …
September 1st, 2006 at 12:28 pmThis administration has only made America better through it’s manlipulation of the media. When it comes to making lives of everyday Americans better, this administration is missing in action. The majority of Americans have caught on to the mumbo jumbo of the cheney/rove talking dummy. They can continue to attempt to convince us that Americans dying in Iraq keeps Main Street, USA safe, but Americans know better.
September 1st, 2006 at 12:29 pmABC has the right to air what they want as long as they make it clear it is “entertainment” and not factual. And we have the right to not watch it and to tell everybody what a crock of bull it is and why they should not watch it, nor purchase from advertisers that buy commercials during its airing.
I hope this backfires for them. I hope people start boycotting ABC because of this.
So who is advertising in the movie? Somebody should suffer through it and write that down. I’d like to start sending letters letting them now how supporting something like this is NEGATIVELY impacting their bottom line, and not helping them.
The “bottom line” is the only thing greedy corporations understand. Hit them in their pocket book and suddenly they become your bitch, no matter HOW they think politically.
September 1st, 2006 at 12:31 pmRemember what they did to CBS to get them to censor the Ronald Reagan movie? Let’s do that to ABC.
September 1st, 2006 at 12:32 pmBoycott the products of any ABC’s sponsors of this crap!
September 1st, 2006 at 12:33 pm9-11 was caused a little over 3,000 years ago when a woman decided men had been in charge long enough and attempted to change Egypt to a matriarchy. She is the grandmother of the one we now call Jesus.
Actually, 9-11 was caused by an idea, an invention we call hell. The suiciders think their victims are going to hell while they are going to heaven. The lie of hell has been believed so long and by so many it has become a truth. http://www.hoax-buster.org has the history of hell and identifies it’s inventor.
September 1st, 2006 at 12:33 pmSeems like they deserve the CBS Reagan treatment, no?

it’s been made already. it is opening this weekend or week in toronto and then in london and trying to get it here in the u.s.
only if it was true. but then the octopus (rothchilds) are still alive and many waiting (skull and bones) to get in.
September 1st, 2006 at 12:49 pmYes, absolutely, this deserves the CBS Reagan treatment! We have the numbers to do an effective letter-writing, boycott of sponsors threat. Screw these people.
September 1st, 2006 at 12:52 pm#47, BG – uhhhh, yeah? oooookay. thanks for filling us in.
September 1st, 2006 at 12:52 pm#41 I actually had some one get very angry after 911 and say it was all Clinton’s fault because he had our army in iraq after the war and pulled it out leaving Sadaam behind to pull off the attack.
September 1st, 2006 at 12:55 pmThis is unbelievable…. just as unbelievable as award winning Mike Malloy being fired from AAR for ‘financial reasons’. Under the Clinton administration a terrorist attack was stopped as terrorists were discovered at the Washington state border loaded up with explosives headed towards LAX. How much news does this make???? This is getting all too clear…. everything is for financial reasons…. propagandize and lie on anything so the republicans come out looking good in order to keep corporate America well, alive and rich. And to spread the propaganda who will be fired next? Thom Hartman, Bernie Ward, Ray Taliaferro, Randi Rhodes, Sam Seder….
September 1st, 2006 at 12:59 pmAren’t they the same station who wouldn’t show the Reagan bio because they were afraid it would offend the wingers?
September 1st, 2006 at 1:03 pmDoesnt this show who really controls the media. We are heading into a electon and ABC is airing this support the president line. Who ultimately decided to do this? When it comes to the major decisions like this it is the ownership or high management I would suppose.
September 1st, 2006 at 1:06 pmOK, Im gonna start laughing. Be back in a couple of days.
September 1st, 2006 at 1:06 pmHa ha ha…
Under the Clinton administration a terrorist attack was stopped as terrorists were discovered at the Washington state border loaded up with explosives headed towards LAX. How much news does this make????
That would be New Years 2000. I live on the same peninsula with Port Angeles, where that happened. It was a woman agent for the border working for the ferry system, that scrutinized that guy – and got him. It was on the news here, and I have never forgotten it. I don’t know if she ever get cudos for it, but I do know under BUSHCO, they got reprimanded for something – not sure what it was though.
September 1st, 2006 at 1:08 pmi would boycott ABC/Disney if i watched them…well i do still watch judge judy but for the rest — it’s been a lot of poo for a long time and well — nothing to see there folks,,,move along.
September 1st, 2006 at 1:08 pmName one example of any, any, attempt to over throw our government.
any, any, by who, does it matter?
well, i give ya one. rockefeller, bush, dupont, trying to overthrow fdr and install a nazi style government and didn’t succeed.
these people who hate us?
these people (jiadists) do not hate us. they hate our gov. policies. and wouldn’t you. if the u.s was sanctioned the way we sanction others and put f.upd policies on other nations, folks the u.s and it’s people would probably be in the same position. this is about ruling the world. having one currency, one gov. one ruler that controls it all. these folks are fighting for their ways of living, and culture, and laws. the way they want to do it. they do not want the criminial ways of america, israel (zionists) with all their satanic(masonary) symbols (owl, pyramid, 33, 6 pointed star) in their lives. and we shouldn’t either. when these pricks salute it’s the ‘horned’ wave. what we are FINALLY pissed about they have been forever. we, americans, are finally waking up, bumping our heads to the reality of the american government. i say to them keep fighting for your dignity the way we are fighting for ours.
in no way am i condoning violence and the bloodshed. but america if you support this gov. your hands are bloody.
September 1st, 2006 at 1:13 pmThe HYPOCRITES here at “Think Progress” and the mind-d/numb robots of the Left should work on spelling two words: M-I-C-H-A-E-L M-O-O-R-E…….You whiny phonies!
’til later….
September 1st, 2006 at 1:13 pmCorrect me if I am wrong, but this has not yet aired and very few have actually seen this thing all the way through, right? The amount of right wing bashing in advance of this program airing is amazing. Clinton was not a God, he was a man who may have not done all he could have to thwart such an attach, same can be said for W. Besides, its already been stated that ths is entertainment so take it as such.
September 1st, 2006 at 1:14 pmSo this means the Reagan bio will be going back on the air, right? You know, the one that was pulled under pressure from the Grecian-Fetishists?
September 1st, 2006 at 1:16 pmThe 9/11 report was a crock of crap, and as such the movie is a crock of crap.
In reality much of the Terrorists were trained under Reagan and called freedom fighters. When the COld WAr ended the ‘Freedom Fighters” as Reagan called his Terrorists, Tim Osman [Osama Bin Laden] that fought against communism.
Reagan created the largest covert ops ever..and trained them.
The British and the Americans have a long history of assisting terror groups in the middle east and have since before the creation of the state of Israel.
Nevertheless, Clinton was not in office during 9/11, Bush was.Clinton did not ignore the PDB, Bush Did. Clinton did not sit reading a childs book durng attack, Bush Did.
Only six Americans were killed in America by Muslims the whole eight years Clinton was in power. At least three terror attacks were thwarted around the Y2K events
Six Americans Killed by Muslims under Clinton. 3000 civilians and nearly 3000 our our troops died under Bush. That doesn’t include Civilian casualties in Afghanistan or Iraq.
Furthermore, the first WTC bombing took place ONE MONTH after Clinton took office, [So we should Blame Bush Sr. and not Jr.] while the REAL WTC bombing took place eight months after Bush took office, and that too is “Clinton’s fault”? WTF?
This movie is pure crap and in the usually misleading manor of the Goopers, those compassionate liars, is completely out of context as it only gives the side of the story that the Bush admin wants you to think. That makes this movie a lie right out of the box.
September 1st, 2006 at 1:16 pmJust in time for elections..
September 1st, 2006 at 1:17 pmOk Bush saved the world and the US as Clinton was responsible for 9/11. Bush had the memo but took vacation and yes read My Pet Goat as thousands of people died.
September 1st, 2006 at 1:17 pmThe next movie will be how Bill Clinton invaded Iraq after lying to the Americans and the world about WMD’s. Next Bill Clinton had secret jails and tortured prisoners, robbed the US Treasury and last but not lease. Bill Clinton leaked the covert CIA agents name and should be charged with treason. Satan is working overtime as the lies and propaganda keep coming. I feel bad for the families who have to hear move lies. Notice how Bush said years ago he hadn’t thought about Osama and the department that was looking for him is gone. Now for votes Bush brings back Osama to put fear in the minds of the voters yet no one looking for him. Let’s just see who watches the propaganda movie, The GOP will have to give ABC the money it lost if the ratings are down.
mighty aphrodite
Michael Moore ran a in depth fact check of Farenheit 9/11. While his facts were given with a distinct bias they were 100% accurate and documented. In short, he told the truth, maybe not the whole truth but it was the truth.
This ABC docudrama on the other hand, is just plain lying.
So let me ask you MA, where do you get off calling us hypocrites?
September 1st, 2006 at 1:18 pmLOL MA has some really great talking points today, not!
September 1st, 2006 at 1:18 pm#24 – “Propaganda – information or ideas that are methodically spread by an organized group or government to influence people’s opinions, esp. by not giving all the facts or by secretly emphasizing only one way of looking at the facts…”

******Sounds like Think Progress has NOW passed the “Propaganda” test of the “useful idiots” club. Congrats, comrades!!!
Gotta run……
September 1st, 2006 at 1:18 pmAnd the real insanity of all of this is that Junior’s cabal was responsible for 9/11, at least in part!
For the life of me I cannot imagine that not a single person within ABC’s management has even heard of the mounting evidence of something being wrong that day.
But regardless, the government’s official cover-up story is so full of holes you could drive a country through it, but ABC decided to buy into it hook, line and stinker.
Well, if this were a free country, we could discuss a certain British oeuvre, but this being Junior’s United States of Happy Families, that would be illegal.
September 1st, 2006 at 1:19 pmThis CANNOT stand. They boycotted and protested and set themselves on fire over the ‘Reagan TV movie’.
I declare war on ABC. Who is with me?
We must all call and write them TODAY and EVERY DAY during every even numbered hour during the regular business days.
Full assault.
September 1st, 2006 at 1:20 pm#71
cut and run? so why do you want to kill the freedom fighters when in fact we funded the very ones that ’so-called’ attacked us. hypocrites. the more you open your mouth the more i see bushes dick go farther in
September 1st, 2006 at 1:22 pmReagan was responsible for 9/11 when he cut and ran from Beirut he let the terrorists know that GOOers were ChickenHawks and leaving them to increase in size and strength.
Bush Sr. Also led the terrorists to believe that GOOPers when Quit and ran from Iraq. Leaving them to increase their size and strength.
Of Course they Attacked when a GOOPer was in office! They are the ChickenHawks!
September 1st, 2006 at 1:22 pm#69 – “In short, he told the truth, maybe not the whole truth but it was the truth.”
Comment by Bruce knows Best
****Dear Bruce – So Moore’s simply a LIAR by omission???? P.S. If you’re as big a hypocrite as you proclaim about Fahrenheit 9/11, Bowling for Columbine, etc. then yes….Bruce YOU are a hypocrite!! Don’t feel badly – you have tons of company….
September 1st, 2006 at 1:23 pmBye…..
This is FANTASTIC NEWS! Finally the truth (which we all know) is coming out and will see what the CLINTON administration was all about – the lying, deception, doing nothing policy. I love the idiot who brought up Michael Moore’s “film”. What irony!! His lies versus the truth of this movie! That says it all. Hey you libs, can’t you take it anymore???
September 1st, 2006 at 1:24 pmSounds like Think Progress has NOW passed the “Propaganda†test of the “useful idiots†club. Congrats, comrades!!!

Cut and Run Goopers!
September 1st, 2006 at 1:24 pmI love it! As if Michael Moore has ever written a movie in a dramatic non-documentary style based on a script that didn’t have FACTS supporting it. The thing people who never saw Fareinheit 911 don’t realize is that Michael Moore did not ONCE anywhere in the movie specifically say something like “It’s Bush’s fault!” Instead he laid out facts, one by one, to demonstrate that there is something fishy going on and people should do some serious investigation into some of the suspicious things that happened leading up to and after 9/11. He lets the viewer decide whether to take his research to heart or ignore it. He does not spread propoganda. He simply presents all the facts he found which support a side of the story you’ll never hear in the conservative media because they don’t do investigative journalism anymore. Does he have an agenda? Oh you bet he does! But he never claimed he didn’t. He never claimed he’s making something purely for entertainment. He never claimed he wasn’t liberal. He’s completely honest with his intentions. The same cannot be said for garbage like this movie. It’s presented (1) as entertainment and (2) as something that follows (at least to some degree) historical facts.
September 1st, 2006 at 1:25 pmthe (formerly headed by g.h.w.”lapdog” bush) cia intervened to derail the fbi pre-9/11 investigation; the cheney-rove regime did everything in its power to encumber the 9/11 commission; bin laden remains free; rice gloated that 9/11 justified the iraq debacle. the real question is to what extent the current criminal govt knowingly enabled the sept 11 2001 attacks
September 1st, 2006 at 1:26 pmIf possible could somebody find out what companies are sponsering this movie b/c that’s who to contact if you want to see it pulled and let’s not forget how the Reps killed the Reagan bio flick on CBS
September 1st, 2006 at 1:27 pmComment by Bruce Gorton “It is time for Clinton to stand up for himself and sue these bastards.”
Ah, but he can’t do that or he’d have done it long ago. The truth hurts, doesn’t it? LOL
September 1st, 2006 at 1:28 pmThis is FANTASTIC NEWS! Finally the truth (which we all know) is coming out and will see what the CLINTON administration was all about – the lying, deception, doing nothing policy. I love the idiot who brought up Michael Moore’s “filmâ€. What irony!! His lies versus the truth of this movie! That says it all. Hey you libs, can’t you take it anymore???
Comment by paul — September 1, 2006
Never watched moores film. I did read the 9/11 report and it is not complete and much has been left out of that report. some 47 pages worth that you WILL not see in the movie.
Ergo the MOVIE cannot and never will be any more truthful than a movie about the Kennedy Assasination.
It, this docucrama [drama means fake] is also not conclusive on truth because the truth was not in the 9/11 report.
And it never will be.
This movie is nothing but conspiracy theory, but we know how much the repupublican coulter world nut daily types love conspiracies, tin foil hats and truth detectors..
September 1st, 2006 at 1:29 pmSomeone explain to me how the networks get to air this?
Farenheit 911, a look at 911 and the events preceeding and following it, was virtually BANNED by the networks. This movie’s been out for over 3 years and not one airing of it. Not one.
Now a movie comes out that favors the President and they’re showing it on network television?
How does this work exactly?
September 1st, 2006 at 1:31 pmI won’t be watching this show! And now I will be viewing ABC more critically. Blame it on Clinton is absurb. Who was President when 9/11 happened? How can someone see that PDB and not pay any attention to it? I still think the Bush administration knew an attack was going to happen, but wanted to use it as an excuse to invade Iraq, which they did. As it says somewhere “They needed a Pear Harbor” to carry out their plans to invade Iraq from day oone!
September 1st, 2006 at 1:32 pmI wish these ideologue assholes would stop politicizing and propagandizing 9/11.
September 1st, 2006 at 1:34 pmLiberal media, my ass. Speaking of asses, anyone who really believes the media in this country is liberal has their head up their own ass.
September 1st, 2006 at 1:35 pmI hate to admit this, I don’t have a DVD player at my fashionable upper east side apartment. I’m here so little, I just haven’t upgraded it, and I can’t hear audio from computer speakers and so forth, so I can’t watch it that way. So I’m not going to be able to watch this thing and tell you people about it ’til I get back home next week.
Rush Limbaugh
Yes. Thats some broadcasting excellence alright. He just exposed himself as a technological buffoon.
September 1st, 2006 at 1:35 pmAnd Clinton himself continues to give George W. Bush and the Republicans cover because of his deep need for approval from people who can’t stand him and will never stand him.
September 1st, 2006 at 1:36 pmCorrect me if I am wrong, but this has not yet aired and very few have actually seen this thing all the way through, right? The amount of right wing bashing in advance of this program airing is amazing. Clinton was not a God, he was a man who may have not done all he could have to thwart such an attach, same can be said for W. Besides, its already been stated that ths is entertainment so take it as such.
Comment by Craig
Did you forget how much “bashing” went on when a movie about Bush’s response to 9/11 was going to be aired? The response from the wingers was so intense, they re-wrote the script.
Sounds like Think Progress has NOW passed the “Propaganda†test of the “useful idiots†club. Congrats, comrades!!!
Gotta run……

September 1st, 2006 at 1:36 pmGee I wonder if the elections are coming up soon. Strange timing.
September 1st, 2006 at 1:39 pmI Agree with Craig!! Although I must say that I stopped watching ABC a long time ago due to their right wing biased. Due in large part to Eisner. What do you expect, Walt made false statment against his own employees claiming the were communist appeasers. Nice legacy.
September 1st, 2006 at 1:40 pmBTW, is that Harvey Keitel in the movie poster?

September 1st, 2006 at 1:41 pmIt cites failures of Bill Clinton and Madeleine Albright and Sandy Burglar
Rush Limbaugh
Who’s Sandy Burglar?
I thought Clintons National Security Advisor was SANDY BERGER?
Oh well. I’m sure Rush knows better, with his broadcasting excellence and all.
September 1st, 2006 at 1:42 pmMa – has gotta run. And he better keep on running.
When all is said and done there will not be many people that will admit even voting for Bush.
BTW – most networks are controlled by the Admin. was sorry to see ABC added to this list.
September 1st, 2006 at 1:42 pm94. Eisner is no longer with Disney – he was canned last year.
September 1st, 2006 at 1:42 pmLet’s see what Bill Falafel has to say. He’s trying to push Rush out of the way for the title of America’s Anchor. Rush has an envy issue with Katie Couric, that is, well, as big as his ego.
September 1st, 2006 at 1:46 pmI like the part of the movie where congressional Republicans in the 1990s beg Clinton to go after bin Laden and Clinton responds, no the most important thing to do now is go ahead with this frivilous lawsuit.
Or in the 1980s when Reagan tries to stop funding for the Taliban but is overruled by Ted Kennedy. Then Amnesty International advises Rumsfeld to sell more arms to them.
September 1st, 2006 at 1:46 pmI know what will get those evil neo-conservatives! Just print a list of the many successes of the Clinton administration against Islamofacists. For instance make a list of those terrorists’ plots that were thwarted by Clinton, Albright, and Berger. Then name all the Terrorists that Janet Reno, the FBI, or CIA captured under the watchful eye of President Clinton. Finally outline the political triumphs that turned around the anti-U.S. sentiment in the Middle East (because the hate didn’t begin on 9/11). Yes that will show just how successful Bill was and how safe he made the country.
September 1st, 2006 at 1:47 pmRush Limbaugh
Who’s Sandy Burglar?
I thought Clintons National Security Advisor was SANDY BERGER?
Yes. Nothing bolsters your argument like calling your opponent names like a schoolyard kid.
September 1st, 2006 at 1:47 pmClinton could have done a better job, but then again he didnt get the Presidential Daily Briefing “Bin Laden Determined to Attack the US” a Month before 9/11ether (no, it wasn’t a “historical document ” whatever that means as stated by Rice).
September 1st, 2006 at 1:48 pmI don’t know how this garbage gets on TV, but it’s patently obvious the corporate media is and always has been controlled by conservatives, and the “liberal media” is a myth.
September 1st, 2006 at 1:49 pm9/11 = Clinton’s fault
September 1st, 2006 at 1:51 pmtherefore Invasion of Iraq = Clinton’s fault
therefore Inept policies of Bush = Clinton’s fault
therefore Katrina disaster = Clintont’s fault
therefore government’s inept response = Clinton’s fault
therefore death of Jon Benet Ramsey = Clinton’s fault

September 1st, 2006 at 1:53 pmYeah it’s a film .. BUT at least they should air F-9/11 for “balance.”
The only thing that surprises me is that they didn’t put this on the air the day before the 2004 presidential election.
Don’t you know that ABC stands for All Believing Conservatives?
September 1st, 2006 at 1:54 pmYou people can’t even elect Ned Lamont to the Senate and ABC is supposed to running for cover. Have fun in the “reality based community” we’ll all be in the real world. What are you people going to do when it all falls apart again in November?
September 1st, 2006 at 1:54 pm“Clinton could have done a better job,”
This would be the same draft-dodging Clinton who met his own CIA Director preciseely TWICE in 8 yeras.
Think again dimwit.
September 1st, 2006 at 1:55 pmdon’t know if someone posted something to this effect already, but someone needs to follow the $ on this one and see where it leads w/ regard to production etc.
September 1st, 2006 at 1:55 pmBycott the advertizers.
September 1st, 2006 at 1:56 pmThis sucks but it’s a one time deal… it is nothing compared to consistently biased news coverage of all three networks.
With at least half the country being Democrat… can anyone tell me why there isn’t a liberal news outlet to counteract the outright lies of Fox and friends or to fill in the glaring omissions committed by all of the other media outlets?
September 1st, 2006 at 1:57 pmABC approached the writer of this film. He is a stauch conservative and a supporter of Bush. The docudrama is written in support of the Bush Admin. Clinton was not president when 911 happened Bush was. Bush and his cohorts decided to ignore the warnings from the Clinton administration and the public daily briefing he got in August. Then when it did happen he sat in a Texas schoolroom for 7 minutes after he was told looking like a real idiot. Then the coward flew around the US in his plane instead of heading back to Washington to deal with the crisis. This man had no clue about anything that is happening. Scarborough had it right “Bush is an idiot”. He should be impeached along with his entire cabinet.
September 1st, 2006 at 1:58 pm“The only thing that surprises me is that they didn’t put this on the air the day before the 2004 presidential election.”
Yeah, all ” they” (wheover “they” are) would have needed in Karl Rove’s Time Machine, you know, because it wasn’t made until this year.
Classic libtard dimwittery. Keep it up loser.
September 1st, 2006 at 1:58 pmlike the part of the movie where congressional Republicans in the 1990s beg Clinton to go after bin Laden and Clinton responds, no the most important thing to do now is go ahead with this frivilous lawsuit.
And yet … that didn’t happen! Who DID congressional Republicans pressure Clinton to go after? Why Saddam Hussein, of course! And for some reason, the idiots at PNAC still have the letters from Newt Gingrich and Lott on their website! And the letters signed by Rumsfeld, Paul Wolfowitz, John Bolton and the rest of the Neo-Con men! In 1998!
But no …. no one ever dreamed of invading Iraq before 9/11. That was the furthest thing from anyone’s mind …. uh-huh, riiight.
September 1st, 2006 at 1:59 pmAs we approach V-day in November, expect a full court press by the right wing slimeologists to obfuscate every truth about this administration’s outrageous incompetence and moral lapses. I wish that all those who witness these exercises can make the link and follow the strings that operate these obscene puppet shows to the puppet masters, the greed and power mongers of corporate America.
September 1st, 2006 at 2:01 pmYeah, all †they†(wheover “they†are) would have needed in Karl Rove’s Time Machine, you know, because it wasn’t made until this year.
Duh, you idiot. And maybe that’s because the folks at Sinclair Broadcasting were too focused on smearing John Kerry and getting crap like “Stolen Honor” on the air before the 2004 election instead. “They” would be the so-called “liberal media” that you poor oppressed whiners, er, wingers love to mention every time someone prints a story or makes a movie that you don’t like. Whiny-assed titty babies, indeed.
September 1st, 2006 at 2:03 pmDefinitely need to contact ABC and their advertisers… can we organize this?
September 1st, 2006 at 2:04 pmIf the republicans can get The regan miniseries pulled why can’t we get this crap off the air?
September 1st, 2006 at 2:06 pmWill there be a scene of Bush continuing to read “My Pet Goat” while the WTC burned?
September 1st, 2006 at 2:07 pmThis would be the same draft-dodging Clinton who met his own CIA Director preciseely TWICE in 8 yeras.
Utter bullshit. When Clinton DID go after Osama all we got were non-step accusations of “Wag The Dog” and some “fiscal hawk” worried about the $2 million missile sent into a tent. Funny now that we’re spending a couple hundred billion on this Iraq fiasco all those concerns about the taxpayers’ money have sorta evaporated.
And at least Clinton admitted to avoiding the draft, as opposed to George AWOL Bush, who got his Daddy to put him into the guard’s champagne unit and then never even bothered to show up. Membership has its privileges, I guess.

September 1st, 2006 at 2:10 pmI am familiar with Port Angeles… I watched highly qualified professional types try to make a home there back in the 80’s, but had to leave because of lack of business as the town at that time was very ‘clicky’. Also during those years the town people complained bitterly about the increasingly traffic problems because of the new Californians moving in. I know they are complaing now as the real estate now is unreachable for their children. What used to cost 40 grand in the late 80’s now costs 250 grand. Generations were used to staying together in Port Angeles, but now that the housing market has been out priced for most, I wonder what has become of these people. Port Angeles is beautiful… God’s country.
BULLSHIT!
September 1st, 2006 at 2:12 pmOMG!!!
ABC is right. I am now convinced.
We MUST stay the course in Iraq. Saddam was behind 9/11.
And now, thanks to this docudrama, we must initiate wars of aggression in Syria, Iran and North Korea.
Diplomacy and sanctions are for wimps.
Clinton was a cosponsor of 9/11. Everything is his fault.
Floods.
Volcanos.
Herpes.
All Clinton’s fault.
OMG!!!! What losers!!!
September 1st, 2006 at 2:13 pm“I’m more a Libertarian, than a conservative.” HAHAHAHAHA
“I’m really an independent.” Is another favorite of mine. My response lately is, “yep, and last year George was a God?”
This latest one ought pop a few more. The bullshit is just getting too deep. Its the gas prices. EVERYBODY is paying attention. They have to just to try to figure out next months budget. All those rolling along fine Republicans are feeling it now.

So when are the right-wingers going to come out in protest of the “conservative-biased media”?
September 1st, 2006 at 2:21 pm“Keep it up loser “ – this sounds like something you’d here in a grade-school playground.
September 1st, 2006 at 2:21 pmABC has provided teaching materials on its website and I can only assume they are going to make a big push that this airing is some kind of educational event for schools. Rather than a propaganda event for the administration.
sickening.
September 1st, 2006 at 2:23 pmMr. Bauer apparently don’t know Jack.
September 1st, 2006 at 2:24 pmJack Bauer and Retired Republican Soldier = twits.
If you can recall back 6 years ago, after the conclusion of Bush v. Gore, every Republican talking head was talking about the change in emphasis in the Bush Administration’s foreign policy, that they were going to focus on the “real” threats to the US, which wasn’t these guys on camels, but were the big bad Saddam Hussein and Kim Jong Il. And we were gonna show China who was boss.
Clinton (rightly) emphasized the stateless terrorism threat over the Cold War era threats posed by rogue nation-states. The biggest criticism by Clinton-era officials of their replacements was their obstinate refusal (summed up best by Condi Rice, whose career was based on Cold War expertise) to ditch the nation-state model and focus on the international interdiction of radical terror groups, including Al Qaeda (and white supremacist groups in the US, see, e.g., Oklahoma City). The fact that Fox News et al STILL conflate terrorism with nation-states (Iraq, Iran) is symptomatic of this failed worldview. Terrorism will not go away if we knock over rogue states. In fact, it thrives in failed states and in anarchy, since it depends on poor and desperate people to be its fuel.
Bush is an idiot, and you people who follow him are either idiots or craven evil bastards who will no doubt go to Hell. He has, with your support, singlehandedly tarnished (perhaps irreparably) America’s moral standing in the world and eradicated the foundation upon which its greatness is built upon. Instead of freedom and a strong economy that helps all, we get hatred, racism, and ignorance in its place. The Republican legacy cannot be as bad as that of the Nazi Party; the constitutional and social limitations in America are far too robust to allow ath. But in the historical view, the Republican Party will probably be seen as a weaker, poorer cousin of that ideology, probably analogous to Mussolini’s party. And you Republicans will be viewed as interesting (if repugnant) moral anachronisms, just as the enablers of the Nazi Party were. “How did people with education and wealth become so propagandized and desensitized so as to allow themselves to support such an evil regime and ideology? How could they so callously ignore the obvious facts that were occurring before them?”

Docudrama? That means its CRAP, not a documentary.
Is that Harvey Keitel in that photo? I used to like him.
Everyone should complain to ABC about this bullshit.
911 happened on Chimpy’s watch, after he ignored LOTS of warnings…including one from Clinton.
Blaming Clinton for 911 is BULLSHIT.
September 1st, 2006 at 2:37 pmTo all the freepers: You know who you are… maybe paid to hang on these boards.. or one of the rapture ready types …or maybe your brain has been infected with the right wing hate America talk shows. My point is I never see facts…just a lot of hate and smear. What is it you stand for? Certainly not “We the People, By the People and For the People.”
September 1st, 2006 at 2:39 pm[...] Now when I hear about ABC promoting the upcoming mini-series of The Path to 9/11, to me it fits into the movie category. But judging from the reaction that JFK had some 30 years after the event, and knowing what I know of the caustic political atmosphere, the words “too soon” just aren’t strong enough. On September 10 and 11, ABC will air a “docudrama†called “The Path to 9/11.†It was written by Cyrus Nowrasteh, who describes himself as “more of a libertarian than a strict conservative,†and is giving interviews to hard-right sites like FrontPageMag to promote the film. [...]
September 1st, 2006 at 2:39 pmYou know what I hate about this: they had the smarts to produce this project with an Iranian-American writer/director. So you just KNOW, that their first strategy will be to tag ANYBODY who criticizes this movie as a racist.

September 1st, 2006 at 2:40 pmFact: During the Clinton administrtion America had two terrorist acts in the US. The WTC in NY and a Federal Building in Oklahoma. All persons involved were caught and brought to justice within days of their acts of violence. In the case of Timothy McVeigh, he has already been executed. Now the Repuglicans plan to use national security as their platform for re-election. Never mind they have yet to catch anybody doing anything that they didn’t entrap (see the Miami 7). Please, “Fool me once…shame on….eh…shame on me. Fool me…eh…. cain’t get fooled again” GW Bush in a fit of misunderestimatedness

September 1st, 2006 at 2:43 pmSandy Burgler? Robble robble!!
September 1st, 2006 at 2:44 pmThis is a problem. If ABC airs anything other than a full account of the truth then they are propagandists and traitors to the American people. There is no gray area here. There are only the facts.
This movie is about two things.
1. Blaming Clinton as a tactical devise which confuses the public debate right before an election.
2. It continues the ridiculous myth that Osama is responsible for the most sophisticated attack on American soil carried out with incredible efficiency and expertise that has resulted in a boom for war profiteers and fit directly into the schemes of the Neocons.
ABC is subversive.

September 1st, 2006 at 2:49 pmJack Bauer is hands down the most inept unprofessional emotionally distracted incompetent bungling agent on TV. (Other than Don Adams).
Here are some interesting observations about how the right wing Bauer does his “job”.
Bauer always shows up about 2 seconds too late to stop whatever it is he was trying to stop.
He always shoots the guy he’s trying to capture before he can get a peice of vital information.
He always lets his personal life throw off his judgement enough to put everyone else in danger.
He shot his director in the head because a terrorist told him to.

Jack Bauer. Secret Agent. Public Klutz. Incompetent Bungling fool.
Jack Bauer. The new republican folk hero. He’s so true to life its frightening.
September 1st, 2006 at 2:53 pmWonder if points out that 15 of the 19 hijackers entered the country during Bush’s administration, or that Cheney promised to form a Terrorism Task Force and didn’t, or that Clinton dropped more bombs on Bin Laden prior to 9/11 than Bush did, and got criticized by the Republicans for doing so?
Nah, probably not…
September 1st, 2006 at 2:53 pmI cannot find one sponsor for this damn thing – they say they will limit the advertising, stating there is more important message to get out than making money…..
you can start by blaming these people first:
“The Path to 9/11″ is executive-produced by Marc Platt (”Empire Falls”). The producers are Hans Proppe (”Anne Frank”) and Cyrus Nowrasteh (also the writer). …

We’re talking about war crimes and crimes against humanity. We’re talking about deception and manipulation. We have the proof and we know who the 9-11 culprits are. We even have public confessions…
September 1st, 2006 at 2:58 pmLimbaugh is just upset that Clinton, in the course of all the things his administration did to fight terrorism, accidentally blew up an alleged pharmaceutical plant. We all know how dear those are to Rush…
September 1st, 2006 at 3:01 pmUnless Clinton is claiming something akin to “Papal Infallibility”, there’s plenty of blame to go around. He obviously dropped the ball since the World Trade Center was hit the first time during his term of ofice, The Clinton administrations contributions to the slip-ups that led to 9-11 are fair game for criticism. His failures do not excuse any of the current Presdient and I can’t think of any reason why an examination of his administration’s activities in this area is something for anyone to fear.

September 1st, 2006 at 3:03 pmProtest and make comments known. Everyone hopefully remembers the treatment the Reagan bio-pic got two years ago after people protested. It got moved to cable. Same thing that will happen to this if enough people complain.
September 1st, 2006 at 3:04 pmLyndon Johnson is remembered for lying about Vietnam, Richard Nixon for lying about Watergate, Bill Clinton for lying about adultery. George W. Bush is known as a “straight shooter.â€
September 1st, 2006 at 3:07 pmWhat’s wrong with that picture? Bush has, after all, racked up more “frequent liar miles†than any other politician in recent memory.
Not familiar with “frequent liar miles I coined the expression to pay tribute to the staying power of Bush’s lies. After all, a lie is of no use to the teller if it is promptly branded a lie and the teller a liar. Not only does he not benefit from the lie, his now-tarnished image makes it more difficult to get anyone to believe subsequent lies.
Limbaugh is just upset that Clinton, in the course of all the things his administration did to fight terrorism, accidentally blew up an alleged pharmaceutical plant. We all know how dear those are to Rush…
Limbaugh is just upset that Clinton got a blow job. Been a long time since LimpDick had one of those …
September 1st, 2006 at 3:08 pmI just blocked ABC from my tv station list. No more listening to their sponsors. Ever. It’s sad really, in my lifetime, I’ve seen ABC go from appeasement to the Partridge Family in the 70’s to the Bush Family currently. The consistent theme is ABC’s complete failure to report reality. Bye, Bye!

September 1st, 2006 at 3:10 pmIn the book, The Road Less Travelled by M.Scott Peck, the author talks about the evil of the lie. What ABC is doing with this docu-drama is a lie and simply evil.
To answer my own question ;-) – By backing George Bush (who is nothing more than a cross between the Emperor Nero and Alfred E. Newman) in this dishonest way, ABC apparently hopes to ensure that the oligarchy keeps on keeping on, no matter what the cost to the rest of the country and the world. Absoloutely nauseating.

September 1st, 2006 at 3:10 pmYou know, my local ABC affiliate just hired a winger radio host to be their “chief political correspondent” on the nightly news. So I think ABC’s decided it wants to side with the sinking ship that is Bush.
Well, isn’t it still owned by Disney? Follow the money, peeps .. probably some stock deal or questionable action that they’re hoping the SEC won’t investigate. Just like Time Warner-AOL … if anyone wondered why CNN went all soft, that’s why.
September 1st, 2006 at 3:10 pmJack Bauer; Just what do you think that 5-deferment Dickhead Cheney did? And Bush just plain deserted (AWOL > 30 days = desertion in accordance with the UCMJ). Other GOP draft-dodgers include Ashcroft, Abrams, Frist, Hastert, Rove, Rush Limpdick, O’Leilly, Kristol, Buchanan, & Chambliss…just to name a few.

The ABC News report reveals a White House so depraved that it makes Clinton seem like a choir boy.

September 1st, 2006 at 3:20 pmGood link DSM. I’d forgotten that the Democratic Senate on 9/9 had recommended that money be shifted from missile defense to anti-terrorism, which the Bushies, of course, were prepared to veto. (Incidentally, that missile defense money still got passed as part of the Bushies’ “anti-terror” effort– that’s right, the insane Republicans’ approach to dealing with terrorism is to build anti-missile defense, and faster jet fighters and attack countries that had nothing to do with anti-American terrorism).
September 1st, 2006 at 3:20 pm#176 – I’m sure that’s true, this is mostly about SEC and FCC stuff, wanting favorable rulings and trying to aviod unfavorable rulings like the one that fined CBS 5 million dollars for the exposed breast incident. Another reason they may be backing Bush is the so called Death Tax thing, these CEO’s aren’t exactly immune to the siren call of creating there own little dynasties.
Still, you would think there would come a point when BushCo’s negatives would outweigh any financial gain. This country is slowly circling the drain, what with higher gas prices and the wars in Iraq and Lebanon, we are far less safe than we were during the Clinton Administration.
Assuming these people have kids and grandkids, it’s astonishing how short sighted they are.

Will the Democrats in DC, President Clinton and the DNC let these republican fascists get away with lies, distortions and swiftboating of President Clinton before the 06 elections?
Of course they will. Remember, Kerry sat silent as the Bush/Cheney junta and the Republican Crime syndicate lied in the face of truth about Senator Kerry.

Your true colors. They’re beautiful, the colors of stupidity and obfuscation. Welcome back Jack Bauer.
The answer to your question, of course, is that the basis of this 9/11 special does not appear to be based in “facts”, just as when your (or some other wingers’) claims that “Saddam Hussein was connected to 9/11″ is/was also not a “fact”. The facts are that Clinton and his cabinet considered terrorism to be their #1 foreign policy priority, that they prevented a number of attacks, that Bush and his cabinet did not consider terrorism to be even one of their top 7 foreign policy priorities (behind Saddam, North Korea, missile defense, and getting out of the Kyoto treat, among others), prior to 9/11, despite repeated attempts by the Clinton cabinet to warn Bush. Also factual are the following:
1) The Republicans in Congress and their media allies repeatedly undermined Clinton’s anti-terrorism efforts, at one time calling it “wagging the dog” and threatening impeachment on the basis that he was trumpeting the threat of terrorism to distract from his Lewinsky scandal.
2) A Gore administration would have emphasized anti-terrorism efforts over Iraq and North Korea, and furthermore would have continued the Clinton administration’s anti-nuclear proliferation efforts (including negotiating bilaterally with North Korea, which was universally ridiculed by the Right Wing until approximately this year, when Bush finally realized his hardline rhetoric was counterproductive, which was only about 6 years too late), and most definitely would not have been the first to violate the NPT.
Come on back, with your lack of facts and your “reasoned” worldview. If you’re like every other existing Republican I know (i.e. still drinking the Fox News Koolaid), you share the following characteristics:
September 1st, 2006 at 3:44 pm1) You march in lockstep with Sean Hannity and Bill O’Reilly.
2) You call yourself an “independent” as frequently as you do a “Republican”.
3) You have an extremely short and self-serving memory.
4) You have been wrong about every single prediction regarding US policy over the last 16 years, whether it’s “tax cuts on investors won’t cause deficits” or “Iraq has WMDs” or “taking a hardline with North Korea will convince them we mean business and they won’t develop nukes” or “Iraq will be a beacon of democracy for the rest of the Middle East” or “Clinton’s tax increases on the rich will kill this economy”, etc., etc., etc. ad nauseum.
5) Because of the lethal combination of 3) and 4), you have zero credibility except with your fellow compatriots as defined in 1). No one else wants to listen to you, because you speak horse$hit. That includes us here. Please go home, and don’t come back, y’hear?
Giggle….titter….giggle – Don’t you JUST love the First Amendment? You’ve NEVER heard me whining about the “West Wing”, “Commander in Chief”, or any other PC show. But for serious progs, you get to enjoy CBS, BBC, PBS, and for liberal entertainment visit, HBO, WB, Lifetime, and Sundance Channels.
But what fun would it be to be a prog and NOT WHINE?? (Neighbours and co-workers would not recognize you..) Whiny, hypocritical progs are aghast about “The Path to 9/11″ – so don’t watch it. If all 500 of you (I’m being generous with my body count) boycott the advertizers, think of the HUUUUGE impact you’ll have…..

September 1st, 2006 at 3:44 pmRe: 199. – “What all does Clinton have to hide in the way of failures against terrorism?”
From what I understand, he did a pretty good job of fighting terrorism, overall. He’s said that his biggest regret was not being able to kill Bin Laden, they were very close, but he got away. Not a perfect record, but not bad, either.
Contrast that with Geore Bush, who let Osama get away after 9/11, who shifted military resources from the hunt for Bin Laden to underming then attacking Iraq. the war in Iraq, by everyone’s estimation has:
1) Created a Woodstock for terrorists. When Afghanistan fell it was a major victory because Al Qaeda had no place to hang out. Now they have.
2) Strenghtened Iran, a major oil State that supports terrorism and is an avowed enemy of Israel and the US.
3) Destabilized the ME. If a full blown civil war explodes in iraq, it could spread to other countries, including, Jordan, Saudi Arabia and Egypt, all friends of the US.
If this doesn’t add up to a debacle, I don’t know what does. Leave it to Karl Rove and George Bush to not stand up and take responsibility for their mistakes, like a man.

September 1st, 2006 at 3:55 pmIn frankly do not give a damn who gets the blame in the film as long as it is accurate with the facts about 9/11. Since we really don’t know what all the facts are, inspite of the 9/11 commission, I think it is irresponsible to air this film.
But, who am I to interfere with free-expression. This little libertarian trick or treat could have the effect of smacking a hornets nest about the topic of 9/11.
Maybe Bill can view it in Kennebunkport with Poppy. They seem to have become such good buddies.
In the meantime, whatever happened with the anthrax missive mailer? Does anyone else think it odd, in the extreme. that while 9/11 is mentioned every other breath by members of the Bush administration, the attempt to assassinate key Democrat leaders in the Senate is completely forgotten.?

Awww, poor bubbies. A view of history you don’t agree with. Let’s scream some more and show everyone how infantile we really can be. Who cares who is to blame? The thousands of people who died and all but a handful of their families sure don’t. Screaming about who is more to blame or not to blame just shows the vapidity of the opposing sides.

September 1st, 2006 at 4:09 pmWhen all of the dust settles (pun intended) and the truth about 911 comes out, the america that i knew and loved will no longer exist. we are living in a constant state of war that ALL of the goverment (dems and reps) was compliant in. the only thing the suits in washington are concerned with is lining their own pockets. if any of them really cared about finding the truth, there are the ones that can do something about it. the “war on terror” will only end when the coffers are dry and all the war profiteers have moved to hawaii, which is the only “enviroment” bushco decided to protect.

September 1st, 2006 at 4:10 pmAs I recall when there was a “DOCUDRAMA” about Reagan that was supposed to be less then honest about the reality of how things went or were for the Reagan administration a major TV broadcaster (I can’t remember which one) basically backed away from airing the piece. We should do the same to ABC if what they say about laying the blame on Clinton is true.
September 1st, 2006 at 4:13 pmGuess Karl Rove is running ABC now.
More smears to come as we approach the election.
September 1st, 2006 at 4:13 pmOnly the GOP and it’s DARVO (deny, attack and reverse victim & offender) tactics could turn this tragedy into a political maneuver. This is totally obscene and immoral.
Perhaps the revulsion it receives will only serve to highlight the dispicable degree that this administration will stoop to to play their infamous “blame game”. The silver lining may be that finally the people will become disgusted enough and see through their chicanery to the extent that their level of disgust will be the straw that breaks the GOP’s back this mid-term. No doubt – It will backfire in their surprised faces.
As more enlightened americans realize: the leveling of the playing field is the acceptance that each administration inherits both good and bad from those who preceeded them and it is STRICTLY the performance of THE PRESIDENT CURRENTLY IN OFFICE which will provide his legacy as well as his reputation as a leader
Actually, if people are smart and take the “cue” from this docudrama, they will quickly realize that, in agreement with the blame game philosophy, then what did happen to the incredible SURPLUS DUBYA DID INHERIT FROM CLINTON??
The GOP needs to be careful what it asks for in all of this…..it’s always a mix of good and bad and I believe that if they want analogies drawn to predecessors, then fine….let’s talk turkey….and discuss as well Bill Clinton’s Surplus and the condition of the economy in this country during his tenure. If not, then let the case rest with agreeing that the inheritance from one president to another is but a totally “moot point”.
Let’s face it – If I’m hired for a position and my predecessor has left the office files in shambles, is it not my responsibility now to fix it? Or do I simply say that I felt it okay to leave it the way I inherited it? This docudrama will be nothing more than political drivel and nonsense. Hopefully, it will further enlighten most americans to the shenanigans and dire lengths this administration will stoop to to blame others for their shortcomings.
September 1st, 2006 at 4:14 pmThe short answer is NONE

September 1st, 2006 at 4:15 pmDoesn’t this have all the hallmarks of a total “backfire” on the GOP?
September 1st, 2006 at 4:19 pmFor years, the FBI and other U.S. intelligence agencies have used FISA to gather information through phone taps and electronic bugs, all approved by a special panel of federal judges picked by Chief Justice William Rehnquist. President Bill Clinton expanded the law in 1995 to include what is known as “black bag” searches of homes, which are executed while residents are away and without their knowledge.
Because FISA is intended to permit interceptions of foreign or terrorist intelligence and not criminal evidence, the government needs only to show the special court that “probable cause” exists that the target of the requested surveillance is a foreign power or agent, a definition that includes being a member of an international terrorist group.
September 1st, 2006 at 4:19 pm==
This Docudrama of ABC’s is gonna be dead before it hits the ground.
Republicans blame Clinton because they refuse to take responsibility for their own failed policies. This blame game says more about Bush than it does about Clinton and I believe the majority of Americans will see this.

You gonna miss that? Not me.
September 1st, 2006 at 4:21 pmC. W. Swinney is a retired business executive who lives in North Carolina. He voted for Nixon, Carter, Reagan twice, and then G.W.H. Bush in 2000.. He says he was “apolitical” until 1991, when he “happened on Haynes Johnson’s book, Sleepwalking Through History in a local library.” He was shocked at what he learned about Reagan, and has since become enthralled with Bill Clinton and become a historian of 1980’s and 1990’s. He has over 100 hours of video on Clinton speaking, (including all his State of the Union addresses), has collected over 50,000 pages from print media and and has purchased over 500 books on the1980’s and 1990’s. He can be contacted at Clarence@LiberalsLikeChrist.Org
September 1st, 2006 at 4:22 pmSwinney challenges Clinton’s critics:
Bill Clinton inherited a mess after the “most scurrilous administration in history”, per Haynes Johnson in his Sleepwalking Through History on the eight Reagan years, and his Vice President’s 4 year extension of those years.
He has assembled a list of 75 members of Reagan’s administration who were charged with criminal behavior.Others list as many as 245 who were investigated and 145 who were charged with crimes by Justice and “Independent Counsels”.
See plenty on the very REAL, but largely unreported Public Affairs scandals of the Reagan – Bush administrations, at our http://www.LiberalsLikeChrist.Org/gopcorruption.html pages.
Kschell aka Jack Bauer:
I’m sorry your brain isn’t sufficiently developed to understand this point, but a public scrutiny of Clinton’s record is not the same as propaganda. I.e., someone could make a movie all about Reagan’s obsessive sexual relationships with 6 year old boys, but (to my knowledge) that wouldn’t in any way be related to a public scrutiny of his record.
I’ve yet to hear one fact from you to support your crazy right-wing allegations. Shocking that.
Maybe you can call into Hannity tomorrow and ask him for some facts to support your arguments. He won’t have any, but I’m sure he can make some shit up.

September 1st, 2006 at 4:27 pmWhen Conservative spokesmen promote lies about President Clinton “doing nothing” about terrorism during his administration, and Conservative followers repeat those lies, it’s time for a little history lesson :
After the 1993 World Trade Center bombing, which killed six and injured 1,000, in the first year of his administration, President Clinton promised that those responsible would be hunted down and punished.
September 1st, 2006 at 4:27 pmThe perpetrators of the 1993 WTC bombing WERE caught and punished. The blind Mullah ring-leader was already in jail, and was retried for the attack. His helpers were caught and tried, and they were sentenced to life in prison. That’s called decisive action, as opposed to hot air.
After the first 1995 bombing in Saudi Arabia, which killed five U.S. military personnel; Clinton promised that those responsible would be hunted down and punished.
After the 1996 Khobar Towers bombing in Saudi Arabia, which killed 19 and injured 200 U.S. military personnel; Clinton promised that those responsible would be hunted down and punished.
The perpretrators of the bombings in Saudi Arabia WERE caught, most likely with CIA help. Saudi Arabia had them beheaded. What else do you want?

September 1st, 2006 at 4:34 pmThe Right has had so much red meat thrown at them in the last 5 years, my bet is that nothing short of an atheist gay wedding and flag burning somehow involving the clenis and some Arabs will rouse them in November. They’re already gorged on fear and outrage and will need to sleep it off.
September 1st, 2006 at 4:38 pmBush arrests goat farmers and poor people, renditions and tortures them only to have many of them released later on.
Bush has spent millions and billions and has nothing to show for it but a never ending war on countries that have little or nothing to do with the small terror groups within them.
If I follow the Bush logic, the he is responsible for the terror group in America and we should then bomb and blow up the infrastructure of America to flush out a handful of extremists..
The GOOPERS are twisted sick group of liars, they are in now way the moral majority;
See here;
* Republican chairman of the Oregon Christian Coalition Lou Beres confessed to molesting a 13-year old girl.
* Republican County Constable Larry Dale Floyd was arrested on suspicion of soliciting sex with an 8-year old girl. Floyd has repeatedly won elections for Denton County, Texas, constable.
* Republican judge Mark Pazuhanich pleaded no contest to fondling a 10-year old girl and was sentenced to 10 years probation.
* Republican Party leader Bobby Stumbo was arrested for having sex with a 5-year old boy.
* Republican petition drive manager Tom Randall pleaded guilty to molesting two girls under the age of 14, one of them the daughter of an associate in the petition business.
* Republican County Chairman Armando Tebano was arrested for sexually molesting a 14-year-old girl.
* Republican teacher and former city councilman John Collins pleaded guilty to sexually molesting 13 and 14 year old girls.
* Republican campaign worker Mark Seidensticker is a convicted child molester.
* Republican Mayor Philip Giordano is serving a 37-year sentence in federal prison for sexually abusing 8- and 10-year old girls.
* Republican Mayor Tom Adams was arrested for distributing child pornography over the internet.
* Republican Mayor John Gosek was arrested on charges of soliciting sex from two 15-year old girls.
* Republican County Commissioner David Swartz pleaded guilty to molesting two girls under the age of 11 and was sentenced to 8 years in prison.

September 1st, 2006 at 4:47 pmSo you want to do the same thing that Church groups do, to censor the things you find objectionable? Sunlight is the best disinfectant. The only people who are going to be motivated by this are the people who are sick and tired of the accountability dodging for the disastrous acts of the Bush administration. I’m telling you, the Right is worn out. Let ‘em run it. People on the right will only be reminded that their votes have precipitated our current dilemma (over half the pop. already disapprove of GWB’s performance) and will likely just stay home in November.

September 1st, 2006 at 4:56 pmABC sucks from top to bottom.
Corporate teevee is toxic to the brain.
We stopped watching teevee news cold turkey.
We’re getting more done.
We’ve lengthened our attention spans.
We hunt our news down on the internet.
Instead of having it spoon fed to us.

September 1st, 2006 at 4:59 pmA Study in Stupidity
My original post:
‘Well, I can really see the weakness of the left here. Namecalling and thats it. Hit Disney where it hurts…in the pocket book. If you’re not willing to do that and organize a boycott, then don’t bother doing anything at all. Just keep your mouths shut and wait for the end.’
Clearly the tone indicates that I am unhappy at the left’s response to the news of ABC’s blatant pro-BUsh propaganda. I also urge the left to do more to fight this atrocity. A reasonably intelligent person could deduce from the post that in fact I am a LIBERAL unhappy w/ my team’s response thus far. However WORFEUS lacks the requisite intelligence level to realize that, as his response to my post would indicate:
‘Really Dock?
So HAHAHAHA Eat Shit Lefties!!! is what qualifies as intelligent discourse with you?
Go figure. ‘
You will notice that nowhere within my post do I say “Eat Shit Lefties!!!”
Conclusion:
September 1st, 2006 at 5:03 pmWORFEUS is an idiot. Though he did change my nic from Duck of Death to ‘Dork of Death’. Very, very witty. Is it possible that WORFEUS is actually the great man of letters Gore Vidal?
Everyone here knows Republicans are generally despicable, but the Dems aren’t really different. Clinton and Bush, Sr were both involved in the Iran-Contra drug smuggling thru Mena, AK. Clinton is a frequent Bilderberg attendee. 9/11 was made or allowed to happen, and it would’ve happened no matter what Republocrat was in office- the only people who get the nomination have been pre-selected for their conflicts of interest.

September 1st, 2006 at 5:36 pmSorry to all the Keitel fans in here, but Resevoir Dogs while impeccably filmed was merely a very well formed scultpure of shit. So was Pulp Fiction. So was that thing he did about the winnebago and the Vampires.
The glorifying of murder and taking it beyond whats needed for the story, to the point where the shock value and the grisly details become the ends, instead of the means, has never impressed me. Tarentino is a sick f@#k, and needs to see about a whole team of Psychiatrists before he makes another film.
Course thats my 2 cents worth and I’m sure this one will draw the jeers.
But thats what I think.

September 1st, 2006 at 5:39 pmWe wonder why are kids are shooting up our schools. We wonder why gang violence is so rampant that its spreading rapidly across our entire country. We wonder why our kids are so violent and ready to kill.
We wonder all this after feeding them with a never ending stream of the most foul and twisted scenes of rape, torture and murder until their heads explode.
Its a wonder.
September 1st, 2006 at 5:42 pmI apologize if this has been suggested in an earlier comment, but Dems and Liberals need to show some backbone on this issue and push back hard on ABC. The one thing you can say about the wingers is that they support their guys with energy and passion. We can’t let this “docu-drama” become the factual record in the mind of Americans. We must register our displeasure with ABC and boycott both them *and* their parent company, Disney. My family will be going to Orlando in November. I’m sure we can find plenty to do without dropping a dime at Disneyworld.
September 1st, 2006 at 5:43 pmAnd most of that stuff is republican based. Most violent movies are republican based. In fact, republicans introduced us to the big guns and the bloody corpses, or did someone think Clint Eastwood and Arnold Schwarzenegger were liberals?
Now we’re going to feed our kids with a movie that tells them why its ok to kill anyone with a turban.
Now we’re going to show them a right wing movie, sell it as history, and wait for them to go join the Army.
It boggles the mind.

September 1st, 2006 at 6:02 pmIs the path to 9-11 going to include the false flags attacks perpetrated by our government over the past 200 years including the USS Maine and the Gulf of Tomkin. Or the false flag attacks perpetrated by the Jews dressed as Arabs in the Levon incident, or 1965 when members of Mossad tried to blow up a US Navy ship dressed as Arabs. Is it going to include the fact the Wolfowitz, Perle, and Feith the architechts of the fiasco in Iraq needed the American public on their side so the attack on Iraq would be justified. They needed a solidifying event and somehow all of the sudden after they get into power they get it. We’re not fighting for oil. We’re fighting for Israel and the creators of this insanity should be tried for treason.

September 1st, 2006 at 6:53 pmI wonder if they’ll follow up such a heavy intellectual feature as a “docudrama” with some light entertainment. The movie U-571, a historic tale of American heroism during the 2nd World War springs to mind.
(Supplemental, just-in-case-someone-misses-the-point: In that movie Americans recover an Enigma machine, a feat that in the real world was performed by the British.)
I’ve even got a better idea for a movie. Or a “docudrama”. How about “Anthony Janse van Haerlem-Salee”? Who’s that guy? Well, as the son of a pirate and a Muslim convert, he was one of the first colonists in Nieuw Amsterdam, better know today as New York. There’s more than enough events in his life to fill up a couple of reels.

it’s also a centrist media conspiracy…a troika of stupidity.
The more one looks at the current media shenanigans, the more desperate they appear, it’s as if the media is a political group/party in it’s own right and trys equally as hard to sway the peoples opinion in the direction they favor.
Liberman was dropped by the Democrats, but Clinton then stumped for Joe, Joe of course, has sided with and accepted help from the Republicans.
Now the Republicans are attacking Clinton and I wonder what Old Joe Lieberman will do now since the Big Dawg stumped for him?

September 1st, 2006 at 9:00 pmGee–two months before an election in which the neocon “mandate” will doubtless go down in flames and we get this horseshit? Is this that liberal media I hear so much about? I hope ABC takes care to point out that Bush was still on his Presidential Learner’s Permit on September 11. And his deer-in-the-headlights look in the schoolroom on that morning? He was planning his “strad-ge-dy” folks, “Parsidentin’ is hard work an’ takes strad-ged-dy“. I hope the outraged bombard ABC with phonecalls and Email. I plan on doing my part.
September 1st, 2006 at 9:04 pmwhy do you people fear the truth?
hysterics prevail here.
September 1st, 2006 at 9:14 pmIt’s disgusting for ABC to politicize the drama in this way. Isn’t it enough that New York had to live through this tragedy? To present this fiction is like saying to those who lived through the tragedy–the redominantly Democratic New Yorkers–that they are indirectly responsible for their own demise. I can see if the story was historically accurate, but it’s a sick fiction that ABC has concocted. It would be like doing a film about the Holocaust that blames the Zionist movement. Sick.

September 1st, 2006 at 11:03 pmI work at an ABC affiliate and they sent a rough cut a few months ago. This is a ploy to get people to watch. Neither President is in the film much at all. Albright comes off bad. They have some scenes of the planes boarding on the 11th and the shots are cut with real shots of Bush talking about jobs or some BS. They have the scene with Condi and the bin Laden memo, but she is only shown talking to Richard Clarke about it. Plus they end the whole film with some sentences about how barely any of the 9/11 recommendations have been met.
September 1st, 2006 at 11:36 pmI already boycott all the networks for their savage refusal to tell the truth.
They are such low-down liars and prevaricators, I don’t see any way the US media will ever command respect again.
Not from me, they won’t. Filthy pigs.

September 2nd, 2006 at 12:17 am… I’m with CalGal – let’s simply NOT watch! ABCs rating WILL GO DOWN, as opposed to up, and NOTHING gets the ‘big networks’ attention FASTER than the LOSS of profits! And it breaks my heart to see Harvey in this piece of propaganda – he’s just plummeted mucho in my ‘cool points’ quotas! An apology is due to your fans, Mr. Kietel! ;) …

September 2nd, 2006 at 12:27 amI am surprised that ABC was so gullible as to put this “impartial” film on the air.
September 2nd, 2006 at 1:00 amI have read over 2,000 articles about 9/11. Here are some conclusions I have reached.
[1] There is a misconception that if Clinton had captured bin Laden, as it is claimed he had the chance to when Sudan supposedly offered him to Clinton, then that alone would have stopped the 9/11 attacks. Nonsense. Number one, bin Laden would have committed suicide before he would allow himself to spill the beans about any future plans. That means he would have killed himself immediately after he found out that the Sudanese were about to turn him in to the U.S.
[2] Related to point [1]; even if bin Laden had been caught, the plot would have proceeded, because it was bin Laden’s right hand man who formulated the plot, not bin Laden himself. And all elements of the plot had already been transmitted to the conspirators, the future hijackers who carried out the crime. Most of the money, probably all of the money, had been forwarded to shady men who were the go betweens between the hierarchy of al Qaeda and the 20* hijackers. Therefore the capture of bin Laden would have made no difference, except it possibly would have changed the timing. Remember the entire operation only cost $550,000, you cannot stop the finances of a tiny tightly run operation like that. Even if the capture of bin Laden had blocked some of the funding, there were other secretive men who would have stepped forward to pick up the slack.
* There were 20 hijackers, but one of them could not get a visa to the U.S.
[3] Although this is never mentioned on U.S. TV, except on rare ocasions on CNN, Senator Diane Feinstein of California went on network TV on the 4th of July weekend 2001 and publicly warned that there would be a large terrorist attack on the United States within 60 days. She sent Cheney her information, but, because she was a Democrat, and possibly for other reasons, Cheney refused to look at it until September 12, 2001. Feinstein’s warning was off by 11 days, but she did accurately predict it.
Bush let it happen.
This docudrama is not based on facts. Pound your local ABC affilliates, Disney and ABC to remove this LIE from our airwaves. Do it NOW!
September 2nd, 2006 at 1:14 amHey Mighty Aphrodite – do you remember the Republicans slamming Clinton for bombing the ‘aspirin factory’? Do you remember him trying to kill bin Ladin and the republicans screaming ‘wag the dog’?
Do you?
Or do you have a selective memory?
September 2nd, 2006 at 1:17 amClinton was president for eight years and never captured Bin Laden. Bush has been president for six years and has never captured Bin Laden (even though he was president at the time of the attack on 9-11). While this “drama” is aimed at highlighting failures of the Clinton administration it also highlights the glaring failure of the Bush administration to bring this terrorist mastermind to justice. Six years later and he still roams free. I don’t see how they hope to make Bush look good by airing this film. It just makes me wonder- Where in the world is Bin Laden anyway?
September 2nd, 2006 at 1:36 amElections are upon us. Time to obsfucate exponentialy. Hmmm… Can’t wait to die by a just god.
September 2nd, 2006 at 1:39 amI think we should boycott Abc on the nights they air this propaganda.Maybe we should boycott the network for the next year or so. The lost of viewers will hurt their bottom line.
September 2nd, 2006 at 1:46 amI can’t believe this asshole is going to kill us all and he can’t even articulate why. (NUCULAR has to do with the core components of cell structures,{ I may be off on the exact nature of nucular but I am sure closer than that goddam idiot}.
September 2nd, 2006 at 1:49 amhahahaha. He has the nerve. I wouldn’t even waste my time watching just to listen to him or his lies. Bush get out. I was republican till you have disgraced America. You have ruined what America was all about. You “BUSH” , “Dick”, “Rumsdumb”and “Lice” have ruined our future and your kids and your grandchildren. Go hide out with your buddy Bin laden.
September 2nd, 2006 at 2:22 amThis joke’s been around for a while, it’s still funny and relevent.
How many Bush administration officials does it take to change a light bulb?
1. One to deny that a light bulb needs to be changed;
2. One to attack the patriotism of anyone who says the light bulb needs to be changed;
3. One to blame Clinton for burning out the light bulb;
4. One to arrange the invasion of a country rumored to have a secret stockpile of light bulbs;
5. One to give a billion dollar no-bid contract to Halliburton for the new light bulb;
6. One to arrange a photograph of Bush, dressed as a janitor, standing on a step ladder under the banner: Light Bulb Change Accomplished;
7. One administration insider to resign and write a book documenting in detail how Bush was literally in the dark;
8. One to viciously smear #7;
9. One surrogate to campaign on TV and at rallies on how George Bush has had a strong light-bulb-changing policy all along;
10. And finally one to confuse Americans about the difference between screwing a light bulb and screwing the country.

September 2nd, 2006 at 3:32 amThe bombing of the Cole happened in October 2000, approximately 3 weeks before the election of Bush. The investigation which found Bin Laden responsible was completed in Feb 2001, approximately 3-4 weeks after Bush was inaugurated. Wouldn’t one think that Bush would be the President in charge of “retaliation” and not Clinton? Just asking.

September 2nd, 2006 at 3:43 amThe PNAC blueprint of September 2000 states that the process of transforming the US into “tomorrow’s dominant force” is likely to be a long one in the absence of “some catastrophic and catalyzing event – like a new Pearl Harbor”. The 9/11 attacks allowed the US to press the “go” button for a strategy in accordance with the PNAC agenda which it would otherwise have been politically impossible to implement. by Michael Meacher, former British MP:

Let’s see where this idiocy goes…. A docudrama on the endless snafus since Cheney and his coterie got into power with the Bush redux at the helm would be a lot more boring. That’s the problem… the truth is dull.

September 2nd, 2006 at 6:38 amWHY is the Bad Lieutenant in this?
September 2nd, 2006 at 6:45 amThe New (Right Wing) Media Monopoly
“The New Media Monopoly describes the cartel of five giant media conglomerates who now control the media on which a majority of Americans say they most rely. These five are not just large — though they are all among the 325 largest corporations in the world — they are unique among all huge corporations: they are a major factor in changing the politics of the United States and they condition the social values of children and adults alike.
These five huge corporations — Time Warner, Disney, Murdoch’s News Corporation, Bertelsmann of Germany, and Viacom (formerly CBS) — own most of the newspapers, magazines, books, radio and TV stations, and movie studios of the United States.
These Big Five (with General Electric’s NBC a close sixth) do not manufacture automobiles, or clothing, or nuts and bolts. They manufacture politics and social values. The media conglomerates have been a major force in creating conservative and far right politics in the country. They have almost single-handedly as a group, in their radio and television dominance, produced a coarse and vulgar culture that celebrates the most demeaning characteristics in the human psyche — greed, deceit, and cheating as a legitimate way to win (as in the various “reality” shows).
It is not just national economics that is at stake — though their power has led to the government’s somnolence of anti-trust action. Nor is it just the neglect of broadcast media giantism by the government agencies that by law are still required to operate “in the public interest.” The public interest is to have the country’s largest broadcasting system in the world provide diversity in news, opinion, and commentary that serves all Americans, right, left, and independent, as well as access to their local stations as well as true choices in national programs.
What is at stake is American democracy itself. A country without all the significant news, points of view, and information its citizens need to be informed voters is risking the loss of democratic rights. Voters without genuine choices and without the information they need to choose what meets their own needs and wishes has produced something alarming: on Election Day our voters are forced to vote for what is the narrowest political choices among all industrial democracies of the world.”

well, well, well…… seems as long as the media is Bush bashing they are heros to some but let them tell anything bad at all that Clinton did and they are unfair and progandist. It is about time that some network decided to show another side, whether verified as the absolute truth or not it will at least give people something new to consider. I think there just might be some truth uncovered and you libs know it and that is why you are running scared and making so much noise.
September 2nd, 2006 at 7:27 amActually, I think Clinton was not a bad man, he was just thinking all the time with the wrong part of his anatomy. Maybe if he had a wife that liked his bed more than others of either gender he could have done some good things while in office.
Is anyone really surprised that this is coming from ABC, the home of Disney? Anyone who has watched 20/20 (with Fox wannabe John Stossel) lately can’t be surprised by something like this.

Meanwhile, you’re still preoccupied with his anatomy. What a moron.

We don’t blame Bush for life, we blame Bush for death.
George W. Bush, Governor of Death, Has Executed 131 Inmates – Many With Seriously Flawed Trials
Under Gov. George W. Bush, Texas has executed dozens of Death Row inmates whose cases were compromised by unreliable evidence, disbarred or suspended defense attorneys, meager defense efforts during sentencing and dubious psychiatric testimony, a Chicago Tribune investigation has found

Republican presidential candidate Gary Bauer criticized Gov. George W. Bush for making fun of an executed Texas woman in an interview Bush gave to Talk magazine. “I think it is nothing short of unbelievable that the governor of a major state running for president thought it was acceptable to mock a woman he decided to put to death.” Just before her execution date, Tucker appealed for clemency on the grounds that she had become a born-again Christian. The United States invaded Iraq in March 2003, in an effort to depose dictator Saddam Hussein, amid now debunked allegations that he had weapons of mass destruction.
According to the Pentagon totals, there have been 1,972 service members killed in action in Iraq, and another 528 died from other non-hostile causes. There also have been 18,490 troops wounded in action, including 8,501 who did not return to duty.

SANDY BURGLAR? Obviously no relation to Sandy Berger who was actually in the Clinton Administration.
The only person I know who calls him “Burglar” is also convinced that 9/11 came about because Clinton tried to kill bin Ladin — that if Clinton had left him alone, there wouldn’t have been an attack.
In other words, some neocons are trying to turn history around instead of repeating the mantra of “Democrats are soft on terror” they’re trying a new tack: “Democrats are too tough on terror.”

September 2nd, 2006 at 9:54 amThere is more to the story than what we Americans were all lead to believe, and this documentary or whatever it is will be taken into consideration as to being true but not absorbed as truth as many do when they see or read something
September 2nd, 2006 at 10:18 amHave no fear. 9/11 will be influencing movies from all points of view for years to come.
Let Rush and his friend have their day in the sun.
The more questions asked about 9/11, the better.
HBO made a movie after the first World Trade Center attack and it addressed the problems plaguing communication between the FBI and the CIA in 1993. It had little influence on those agencies correcting their mistakes since then. I doubt this new made for TV movie will influence the correction of existing gaps in homeland security now.
Hell, we already know this administration has ignored most of the recommendations of the 9/11 Commission anyway.
Clinton owns his share of the blame for 9/11, but certainly not all of it.
But Clinton bears no share of the blame for the actions of this administration since then.
September 2nd, 2006 at 10:21 amYou know what? Let them run their silly “docudrama”. It only shows the desperation of the hard right and at this point it’s just another reminder that they are in serious political trouble. Showing an oddly slanted version of an event we all remember like yesterday will only remind people of the idiotic “Swift Boat Vets” movie before the 04 election, which we all know was nothing but an extended smear ad.
Polls show the majority of Americans are sick of being lied to and taken for idiots. It doesn’t take a genius to figure the answers to this out: “Who was the president during the 9/11 attack? Was it Clinton? NO, “Who was warned 52 times about an attack from Bin Laden a month before 9/11 and did nothing about it?” Was it Clinton? NO
The Buck Stops Here. If that sign is not prominently displayed on the president’s desk it should be replaced in neon.
The president who is in office is responsible for what happens on his watch. If I were a GOP analyst I would be calling ABC begging them “Please don’t run this show! It makes us look impotent and weak, like we are shifting blame!”

September 2nd, 2006 at 10:49 amFirst off MA
You are a moron and a bitch. Plain and simple. You are a liar, who has repeatedly demonstrated a lack of anything resembling knowledge of the law or even Judaism. You have claimed to be a former liberal whereas your stances are repeatedly those of a psychotic, namely that the law is for other people.
Oh yeah, and why is M Moore’s film okay? Here is a rundown; When Michael Moore finished his movie, he called in his lawyers and sat with them, and said “I have fact checked everything in this movie, it is accurate if there is anything you think is wrong, then I dare you to try and sue me.” In short, Michael Moore, despite his bias, despite the fact that nobody can ever get the whole story on anything (Hence him probably having missed some things) stood proudly by what he made. He believed it to be the truth, and he was telling the truth as he saw it.
ABC?
They know it is a lie. They don’t believe it themselves, they are telling a lie. Your repeated bullshit accusation of us being hypocrites? Go look in the mirror you twisted hag.

Trolls. We have seen Ann Coulter. We have seen Rush Limbaugh. We have seen Sean Hannity. We have seen Fox News. By now, we kind of know what is coming, and we are sick to death of this absolute unadulterated shit.
September 2nd, 2006 at 10:53 amEveryone, everyone should contact everyone they know and tell them to contact everyone they know just what ABC is up to. The republicans are doing what they do so well. Blame the Democrats for anything that does not go well, and pat themselves on the back for anything does go well. Remember, Hitler hated Liberals too.
September 2nd, 2006 at 10:53 amI urge you all to write to ABC. My Letter to ABC:
I think it is appalling and of highly suspect that ABC is choosing to air a show called “The Path to 9/11.” As a person who was directly affected by the attacks in New York, there are too many questions that remain unanswered for hack job purporting to be a “televsion movie event.” Rather than actually funding some real investigative journalism into the events leading up to these attacks and the abysmal response by our government, on that day strangely under control of Vice President, Dick Cheney, ABC is going to broadcast a piece of fantastical heresay and a one-sided melodramatic story from a man who has had nary a place in the spotlight through the entire event.
ABC ought to get back to its primary strengths, producing schlock TV shows like Extreme Home Make Over and Extreme Make Over and stay away from trying to force feed America this crap. When you have national news shows leading with the speculative stories, like the fake killer of JonBenet Ramsey, when we have an illegal war in Iraq, war in Israel/Lebanon, war in Afghanistan, corruption at the highest level of governments, a city of New Orleans largely unchanged from one year ago, a president ignoring the Hamdan ruling of the Supreme Court, and the highjacking of our elections through the use of flawed voting machines that have stolen the latest election and installed Rep. Bilbray in Congress illegally, you have lost any credibility to be presenting an entertainment, fantasy feature purporting to convey the “path to 9/11.”
How dare you produce, let alone broadcast, this fictitious speculation as to what “really happened” and what led up to the events when no government agency or court fully has explored the events.
There is one and only one cause of 9/11 and that is President Bush’s willfully negligent approach to national security, his traitorous alliance with the Saudis and the Bin Laden Family and the personal financial and political interest of his administration in allowing these attacks as fulfilment of the PNAC manifesto.
I have managed to cut mainstream mediia out of my life as a source of news in favor of People-Powered news through credible websites producing real investigative journalism. I’m sure it is of little interest to a dinosaur network whose dwindling ratings force it resort to extreme measures like broadcasting fictitious inflammatory propaganda to grab whatever idiot viewers it can that I will not be watching. However, you can add me to the mile-long list of people who count themselves as “former viewers” of your crap network.
As someone who lived through the tragedy you are exploiting, I invite you to drop dead and do hope you do it with the same urgency you present this CRAP entitled “Path to 9/11.”

September 2nd, 2006 at 11:00 amAnd it also makes us ask “Where is Bin Laden? He attacked on Bush’s watch and we have waited six years for Bush to do something about it. And still we have no justice for this slime wad Bin Laden.” The GOP is going to come out of this with the biggest stink on them. Clinton hasn’t been president for six years. The last thing the GOP needs is for average middle class Americans like myself to start asking questions about the where abouts of Bin Laden. Let them air the film. I would like to see a discussion of why Bin Laden hasn’t been captured in SIX YEARS ensue at every kitchen table in America. Geez, we took out Hitler in 3 years. Bush has failed the war on terror big time and all of us blue collar Americans know it.
Everyone should call or e-mail ABC and tell them that they will not watch their shows unless they take this off the air. If they do show it they should give Clinton free air time to rebute it. I am calling ABC now to tell them that I am done with their channel.
September 2nd, 2006 at 11:08 amAny comment by Rush Limbaugh (The Dr. Goebbels of the Nazi Wing of the Republican Part) is strictly propaganda.

September 2nd, 2006 at 11:24 amDisney owns ABC. Steve Jobs is a majority shareholder in Disney. Why not drop Steve a line while we’re at it?
From what I understand, this piece is one-sided and filled with false assertions. Disney and ABC have a responsibility to their viewers and stockholders to report the facts. Which route will they take?

September 2nd, 2006 at 11:38 amBush was on vacation as the 9/11 terrorists blew up the trade center
Clinton was hard at work when the first trade center terrorists ere caught and jailed.
Therefore: Bush is a lazy, incompetent president who has endangered America.
Clinton was a hardworking, capable president who kept America safe.
Remember Katrina? That was Bush, not Clinton. If you vote for the Republicans, better pray for good weather.
September 2nd, 2006 at 11:48 amSIX YEARS since we were attacked and all we have to show for our billions of dollars and thousands of lives lost is a civil war in a country that had nothing to do with 9-11 to begin with.
September 2nd, 2006 at 12:00 pmRepublicans will never get over the fact that Clinton was a great president and George W Bush is a failure and will be remembered as a one of the worst presidents in our nation’s history. Right wingers know it and it irks them to no end. ABC can’t change those facts.
September 2nd, 2006 at 12:01 pmi used to identify myself as republican, until the current administration’s behaviors made me question, well, everything they do. given the timing of this film, the post article, fascist threats, and dramatic drops in the price of gasoline, i sometimes wonder if it all might not be part of a coordinated plan to keep control of the congress and reduce the likelihood of impeachment.
September 2nd, 2006 at 12:02 pmWhat is with all these protesting messages? Did you people not read the 9-11 commission report? It is very clear that Clinton knew of terrorist antics but was “afraid to commit” any action to them. When Bush was inaugurated the order to surgical bomb al-qaida leadership was awaiting his signature when 9-11 happened. Bush was taking action, Clinton just waited for it to happen. This is not my opinion, this is fact as stated in the commission report.
September 2nd, 2006 at 12:08 pmIts just like you left wing loonies, who blame Bush for everything from the weather to why your dog ran away, to come to the defense of Brother Bill. The failures of his administration was the root cause of 9/11. When are you people going to learn that if you dont take the fight to them, then they will bring the fight here! The appeasers of the 1930’s had their Hitler, and if you have your way, then we in the 21 century will have ours. WAKE UP!
September 2nd, 2006 at 12:13 pmIf Bush was so concerned about bin Laden, then the first thing he would have been doing in office was a full-scale offensive to find and capture him. He didn’t do that, of course, so whatever Clinton is guilty of, Bush is equally guilty, or more so, because of the PDB.
September 2nd, 2006 at 12:24 pmI saw the previews for this piece of trash last week – and in just that 30sec ad, I was able to ascertain that this movie was giving props to Bushco and blaming Clinton – typical conservative m.o., and just in time for the November midterms.
What a farce. I’ve written to ABC to (nicely) express my displeasure.
And isn’t it Rush Limpbaugh that is always spouting off about “personal responsibility”? Clearly, his listeners don’t practice what he preaches.
Anyone who still supports the Bush Administration is not drinking the Kool-Aid – they are snorting it straight from the package!
September 2nd, 2006 at 12:41 pmWhat’s so surprising? All the networks are in their RIGHT minds.
September 2nd, 2006 at 12:45 pmWell if ABC is going to show this pro-Bush docudrama, then they need to play the British docudrama depicting the assassination of Bush to balance out the bias! 9/11 represents massive failure by the Bush Regime, and NOT a victory for Dubya Dunce Decider Despot!

September 2nd, 2006 at 1:50 pmWe all know clinton went back in time through a portal in the Licoln bedroom and forced our Navy to push an iceberg into the path and the Titanic, he also brought a exocet missile with him and shot down the hindenberg. I heard he also went all “cathy Bates” on FDR, thats why he was in a wheelchair. FDR’s polio disability was a myth put in our textbooks by liberal educators doing Clintons bidding. CLinton was on the plane forcing Amelia Earhart to have oral sex with him when she went down…and BTW Katrina was CLintons…

I agree with Bob…hurricane season, Iran upping the ante, Irag spiraling downward even more, Alaska pipeline in disrepair…all the reasons for gas prices to ahoot skyward, so why are they going down………………frickin DUH….midterms are coming, gotta keep all the JR EWING’s in office
September 2nd, 2006 at 2:08 pmThe Swiftboating of America – again?
We’ve been through this before. It’s from the republican’s political handbook under the chapter of – desperate measures. It’s the chapter where you take the focus off the GOP’s failure and place the blame on the other side. It worked for them against Kerry so why not use it again? With the midterm elections coming up looking unfavorably, and with six years of ineptitude and failure as their record, the timing of this propaganda smells like a rat. The question is; are the MAJORITY of Americans going to fall for this again or are they now smart enough to see that this is nothing more than right-wing propaganda?
September 2nd, 2006 at 2:23 pmUnfortunately, Americans vote their pocketbooks. That’s why gas prices are falling. Exxon, BP, they are all taking a profit break to ensure their paid whores (known as Congressmen, Senators) get re-elected and then profits go even higher as the Oil companies double prices again.

September 2nd, 2006 at 3:13 pmI found one lie on the website just now.
Cyrus says, “Whoever wants to write and talk about this movie is free to do so…”
But under the Post a Comment section, it says, “All comments are moderated.”
Oh wait! They just took down the comment section!
Hmmm… I wonder why? I guess they don’t “Whoever wants to write and talk about this movie” to be free to do so on an ABC website.
I for one, have better things to do on those two nights. I just don’t like watching Neocon corporate Fascist historic revsion and propoganda.
September 2nd, 2006 at 3:31 pmSo when is Bush going to start taking “action” against Bin Laden. We have been waiting for justice for SIX YEARS!! All we have created is a civil war in a country that DIDN’T attack us on 9-11. Meanwhile the mind and money behind the attack walks a free man. Clinton didn’t go after him before 9-11. Why hasn’t Bush gone after him since 9-11?
September 2nd, 2006 at 3:33 pmI hope every mothers’ child is contacting ABC and Disney now and every day until this monstosity airs. Threaten and maintain a boycott of their products. Viewing habits can be changed. Purchasing habits can be changes. Just do it.
September 2nd, 2006 at 3:33 pmIf anyone has Steve Job’s email, send him one and tell him to have ABC announce in bold letters that it’s an opinion piece and musn’t be construed as factual.
September 2nd, 2006 at 5:34 pmI’ve already sent my email to ABC. I’m perfectly willing to stop watching their network unless they either A) pull the program or B) offer an opposing viewpoint such as scheduling Farenheit 911. I understand the whole entertainment-this makes us as bad as them- argument. But the truth is that standing by is allowing these people to once again rewrite history. Be Heard – write ABC asap!
September 2nd, 2006 at 6:49 pmPS – read the 9/11 timeline if you still doubt our government’s reponse. It doesn’t come anywhere near exonerating the Clinton administration but it makes very clear the level of warnings our government received in the 6 months leading up to the murder of almost 3,000 citizens. This isn’t conspiracy theory either – this is factual evidence reported on in the years and months prior to the attacks and a second-by-second breakdown of what our government was doing DURING the attacks.
September 2nd, 2006 at 6:55 pmLet’s threaten ABC legally and with a boycott if they show the movie. My goodness, the religious right nutjobs do this sort of thing everytime a Reagan movie is even mentioned.
COME ON MOVEON.ORG or someone — let’s get the boycott started!
September 2nd, 2006 at 8:29 pmIntegrity–military officers and commanders must have this and they know the dire consequences of losing it. Allowing your supporters to blame something that happens under your command on a previous commander is about as far away from integrity as a commander or any officer can get in the United States Military.
I have only 1 thing to say about all of this talk about all of the missed opportunties that Bill Clinton had to kill UBL (who I NEVER heard of until 1998). They never address a necessary premise needed to makes sense of any of this. That premise is either those who tracked him down and wanted to kill either had orders to kill him already or they didn’t have orders to kill him. If I am the president of the United States and I have ordered you to kill this guy and now you have him totally surrounded and you have the firepower and the element of surprise, why are you calling me (to ask for orders to kill him)? Secondly, If I haven’t given you orders to kill him, why are you hunting him down like a mad dog and then, once you have him where you want him, calling me and asking me to kill this guy? Apparently the NSC and the intelligence agencies haven’t come to some definitive conclusion about this guy that has necessitated the president giving an order to kill him. So, if I have given you orders to kill the guy, why are you calling me? If I haven’t given you orders to kill the guy, why are you calling me?
Also, if you couldn’t take him out because the president was afraid that you might kill someone else or have some unacceptable collateral casualties, why didn’t you kill him before he got there or why can’t you kill him after he leaves. You have the intel, the people, the firepower, and the element of surprise. UBL does not know you are outside waiting for him. If you tracked him there you should have killed him with his henchmen in route or waited for him to leave.
I don’t even have to watch that crap, and ABC is now the Anti-American Broadcasting Station as far as I am concerned.

September 3rd, 2006 at 12:27 amFrom another thread, worth reposting here:
I don’t recall Bush or anyone in his administration making phone calls to try and keep Moore’s Fahrenheit 9/11 film from hitting the big screen and television sets. You guys on the right are great for dishing it out but you can’t take it. Heck, you guys don’t even play by the same rules. You publicly rip a conservative but when the same is done to you, conservatives are “mean spiritedâ€. People who live in glass houses shouldn’t throw stones.
Comment by EMICK — September 2, 2006 @ 1:45 pm
Interesting point, EMICK. I recalled there was some controversy around the release of Mr. Moore’s film, so I looked it up. I found a fascinating article on the bbc site:
So, what do you know? The very company that refused to distribute Fahrenheit 9/11 is now releasing a “docudrama†laying the blame on the Clintons!
And, though the article does not name names, it does cite “Right-wing groups†who lobbied cinemas to boycott the movie, and succeeded in getting some cinemas to refuse to show it.
People who live in glass houses shouldn’t throw stones. Comment by EMICK
And you would be well served if you took your own advice.

Well at least IRI cleans the rest rooms in most of Houstons tall builings. They call IRI the Montrosse tickel party.
Lots of good, some bad, and some really ugly comments here. Can’t say I’ve read them all, but a good number of them. This is definitely one subject that has gotten me fired up.
I find it amazing that only one person was able realize the similarities between the timing of this movie and the time when the Sinclair owned ABC stations tried to air “Stolen Honor” in the weeks before the 2004 election.
Airing this movie is essentially an uncontested opportunity to swift boat the Democratic party as being soft on terror. And foist yet another pack of lies and propaganda designed to frighten the American people in a certain direction by a self serving media giant, who coincidently happens to support this administration.
While I hope the unraveling of this administrations lies will be the straw that breaks the GOP’s back this mid-term.
In addition, I remain very concerned that media conglomerates, like ABC who have been a major force in creating conservative and far right politics in the country. And who have as a group, with their radio and television dominance, have produced a coarse and vulgar popular culture that celebrates the most demeaning characteristics of humanity — greed, deceit, and cheating are the paths to success.
The nagging question in my head is, have they in fact succeeded over the past decade in limiting the information and choices available to the American people to such a degree that most people might actually believe that this “docu-drama†is a factual record of the events surrounding 9/11?
I hope not, but seem to recall reading recently that a high percentage of people still believe the WMD’s have been found in Iraq, or that Saddam actually supported Al Queada.
What is at stake is American democracy itself. A country lacking meaningful news, points of view, and information that its citizens need to be informed voters is risking the loss of its democratic rights.
Voters without genuine choices, without the information they need to choose what meets their own needs has produced something truly alarming, on election day Americans are voting for what is the narrowest range political choices among all industrial democracies of the world.
Over the past 6 years, the American people have been cynically manipulated by this administration into an ever-narrowing band of non-choices. Dare I say it; we are fast approaching the definition of fascist state.
I have provided a link to an interesting site below that defines the characteristics of fascist countries in the last century.
I’ll let the readers of this post decide just how many of these define the good old USA, vs. just how accurate Donald Rumsfield has been with his recent “Islamo-Fascist Terrorism rants. Dennis Miller, look out you got some competition.
http://www.rense.com/general37/char.htm
Ben Franklin once said, “The definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and over and expecting different results.” Perhaps a variation of this statement is also true, by repeatedly bringing out the “terror card”, this administration will finally convince the American people that they have been manipulating them all along and are trying to do so yet again.
It is doubtful that this movie will ever rise to the level of “Fahrenheit 9/11″, or Leni Refienstahl’s “Triumph of Will”, and it should earn it rightful place in the refuse bin of history.
Yet, I remain gravely concerned about its effect on those Americans suffering from 6 years of cognitive dissonance, and who remain acutely uncomfortable with the mental process involved in acknowledging that there is a significant, and growing gap between what they are being told, and what they perceive.
Exploiting this fragile area of the human psyche for profit and political gain has always been the specialty of Karl Rove, and his merry band of Replicants. But eventually the behavioral conditioning does wear off, and crashes faster than a college student coming off a speed fueled all-night binge.
Anybody out there remember what happened in the “74′ elections, the last time the American people woke up and realized they had been lied to?
So the optimistic part of me say’s “go ahead and air this piece of yellow journalism”. Perhaps it will finally show the American people the depths of desperation to which this administration and their Republican party cohorts have sunk to by continuing to play the “blame gameâ€, even in face of shifting public awareness and opinion.
But the pessimistic side of me, knowing that many supportive corporations like Diebolt are lurking in the background just out of sight, and under the radar.
I personally would not like to see this film broadcast on the public airwaves, there to much is at stake to take any chances on giving away any uncontested opportunities turn our country into something less than a democracy.
September 3rd, 2006 at 1:33 amWe need a complete and continuing boycott on all goods and services produced by the parent company of ABC. Immediately to cause damage, and continual to hold them as an example of spewing lies in support of this facist Administration. They already have Diane Sawyers from the Nixon Administration as a newscaster. They certainly need to pay the price for this one. If it means that one more American company goes down the tubes, so be it.
September 3rd, 2006 at 2:31 amHAVE ANY OF YOU ACTUALLY SEEN THE MOVIE?
Many of you are SO worked up about a film you haven’t seen, simply based on some right-wing-nut’s reviews. Keep in mind that the makers of this movie vary in the political stances. Many of them are very liberal people – I know this for a fact. And I have seen the film. There is nothing wrong with acknowledging short-comings of your favored party.
Just watch the film…then complain if you still need to.

HAVE ANY OF YOU ACTUALLY SEEN THE MOVIE?
No need to watch it. If I want to watch Right Wing propaganda, I’ll simply turn on ABC, NBC, CBS, CNN, or FOX News. If I want to be entertained by lousy fiction I’ll read the bible. If this NeoCon movie had any artistic value, it wouldn’t be in the form of a corporate movie made for the spoon fed retards that watch TV.
September 3rd, 2006 at 3:40 amradford, maybe if Bush wasn’t so busy playing cowboy on his faux ranch, then maybe we could have prevented the 9/11 attacks…
September 3rd, 2006 at 3:48 amNo one likes to have his heroes show their faults. All problems are caused by an enemy who failed to get the job as it should have been done. Since Bill Clinton failed to do exatly what the conservatives wanted done, the entire future is his fault when anything goes wrong and all good things will be credited to GW Bush who really did not care about anything other than taking long vacations and trying to show he was like Reagan, except that Bush is scared shitless of horses and will not ride on a live one.
September 3rd, 2006 at 7:12 amIf ABC is going to show a fantasy about it being Clinton’s fault for 9/11, then about them showing the British fantasy of Bush being assasinated? What’s the difference? I’m sick of Clinton being blamed for the weather, the grass being green, etc.
September 3rd, 2006 at 7:27 amLiberals are ALL the same. They can dish it out but they can’t take it! The Clintons have always been & always will be out for themselves. Bill & Hillary are a joke!! September 3rd, 2006 at 10:09 amOf course we haven’t; it hasn’t been aired yet. I am curious as to how you rated a prearing screening?
My comment, currently #420 above, dealt with the fact that there was a lot of Right-wing complaints and efforts to block Michael Moore’s Fahrenheit 9/11. And those people complained without seeing the movie either.
I found it an interesting link that the very same company, ABC, which refused to distribute 9/11 is airing this show.
This show’s producer has an admitted conservative bias, just as Michael Moore has an admitted liberal bias.
This show is already backing off the claim of being a docudrama, while Michael Moore posted original sources to back up every one of his factual allegations.
Even without viewing the film, I can logically conclude that the Mouse has fallen in with the Reich-Wing. Until that changes, I will not knowingly purchase anything Disney.
September 3rd, 2006 at 11:03 amMost people seem to forget that everytime Clinton wanted to do anything constructive, he was blocked by the Republican Congress. He asked for tagging on explosives, roving wiretaps, etc. and was accused of wag the dog scenarios. Let’s also not forget that CBS (I think it was) refused to air a movie about Reagan because it wasn’t 100% complimentary. I’d boycott ABC’s sponsors, except I don’t know who they are since I never watch ABC or network news.
September 3rd, 2006 at 11:10 am# 432 Autogator
Just exactly what is the correlation between too much time on ones hands and having ones head in the sand, or in your case up their ass ?
You are speaking from first hand knowledge?
Let me be brief this time, this “docu-drama” is essentially an uncontested swift boating of the Democrats as being soft on terror, and keeping the American people safe. More importantly, perpetuating lies and propaganda designed to frighten the American people in a certain direction.
While there is plenty of blame to spread with regards to 9/11, the bottom line of any executive position is; “the buck stops here”.
In the case of this administration it clearly hasn’t. Their DARVO strategy (deny, attack and reverse victim & offender) have turned this tragedy into a cynical political maneuver.
To paraphrase # 379, RC, “…..President Bush’s willfully negligent approach to national security, his alliance with the Saudis and the Bin Laden Family and the personal financial and political interest of his administration …” have been consistently put ahead of the countries best interests.
If these simple statements eludes you, then by all means please put your head back where it came from.
September 3rd, 2006 at 11:10 amIt’s important to have an understanding of the phrase “Based on…” Perhaps a better way of saying it would be “Inspired by…” Many films begin with screenplays that have been adapted from books. Some screenplays stick to the original story and some take just a few things, such as the basic storyline, and some of the main characters, and then write the screenplay to better reflect the Director’s or the Producer’s “vision”. I am sure many of us can think of a film, based on a book we really enjoyed reading, that ended up bearing only a faint resemblence to the book we read. The screenplay for this film will more than likely be an example of the “Inspired by” method. For all that the Righties say about ‘Liberal Hollywood’, they didn’t hesitate to use it for their own agenda.
September 3rd, 2006 at 11:16 amAlthough the simple, sensible and fair solution inevitably makes its way to the bottom of options being considered, I nevertheless propose that the good Mr. Nowrasteh appear with Mr. Clinton on, say, the program 20/20 and for a half-hour (or longer) debate the history and the facts – and the conclusions wrought in this docudrama (wtf is a “docudrama”, btw? seems like not too much drama would poison the docu part…). Or, if Cyrus can’t make it, or – what is more likely – is too nutless to even consider it, then send up any right wing eunuch with the willingness to stand toe-to-toe with the former President in such an argument.
Naturally, nothing like this will come to pass. Clinton will f***king kill anybody who openly trades punches regarding the questions posed and conclusions drawn in drivel like the Path to 9/11. I remember during the 2004 campaing wishing for all the world that Bill Clinton could have come at the Swift Boat cowards directly. Rove and his insects would have scurried back beneath the saucer of dung from which they’d emerged.
September 3rd, 2006 at 12:21 pmBush lied about the war, lied about the towers….Clinton got a blowjob.
September 3rd, 2006 at 12:52 pmEND OF STORY….
[...] Because they’re already attacking it. The liberal blogs are all apopleptic. See here, here and here. [...]
September 3rd, 2006 at 2:19 pmOne irrefutable fact remains, 9/11 happened on Bush’s watch and convieniently far enough into his first term to have been planned and orchistrated solely by his administration.
September 3rd, 2006 at 2:28 pmIt’s about time someone put the blame where it belongs, if Clinton had paid attention to more than BJ’s maybe just maybe this would have not have happened. I TOO LOVE THE SMELL OF NAPALM IN THE MORNINGS !
September 3rd, 2006 at 3:30 pmBy continually playing ‘the blame game’ and pointing fingers and saying ‘if your not with me then you are with the terrorists (or ‘if you vote democrat you are enabling the terrorists’) everyone is so caught up in in emotions rather than just looking at the facts. Israelis pulled ot of the WTC towers in the weeks before the blast, Israelis sold short stocks of the companies affected by the WTC collapse, the insurance was DOUBLED on the WTC towers before the blasts, Israeli MOSSADAGENTS WERE CAUGHT DANCING AND FILMING THE WTC blasts, seismic events 9read explosions) were heard and felt BEFORE the collapse, WTC 7 collapsed without being hit (remember the recording of the instruction to ‘pull it’, the ‘911 REPORT’ was NEVER about who did it-by Presidential order it was to be about ‘who dropped the ball’, the Secret Service did not immediately act to protect the President who was four miles from an airport where ‘terrorist’ trained’ but continued to read ‘my little goat’, the way the buildings collapsed defies the laws of physics, no Arab bodies were found on one of the flights, the ‘hijackers’ were ‘identified’ within 24 hours with a pristine passport found amid the rubble, at least four of the so called hijackers were found still alive in the Middle East, the BUSH administration paid Bin Laden $30 MILLION DOLLARS in May 2001 and on and on…..
September 3rd, 2006 at 4:20 pmIf ANYONE is to blame it should be George Bush Senior for failing to depose Saddam in the Gulf War 1991 but he was too smart for that because he knew how dangerously unstable the Middle East would become in addition to the FACT that the U.S. sold Saddam WMD for his war with Iran( doesn’t anyone remember the photo of Rumsfeld shaking hands with Saddam??!!).
The bottom line is that we are being ruled by FEAR- the top Republican toll for maintaing power along with intimidation and blackmail. The last two are used just as well by the Democrats. Clinton simply made everyone ‘feel good’ while he sold out the country with NAFTA, sold out military secrets to the Red Chinese, suddenly begat a budget ’surplus’ with shady accounting that would be illeagal in the business world and really pushing the ’suicides’ of people who were in the way (i.e. Vince Foster) Bush Sr, Bush Jr and Clinton are all three guilty of crimes against humanity as well as TREASON for blocking Leo Wanta from returning to the people of the United States TRILLIONS OF DOLLARS (estimates up to 60-70 TRILLION!!!!)
that would at once take us from a bankrupt nation at the mercy of International Bakers (read the FED) and return us to prosperity. Why would ANY President knowingly and willingly keep the United States at the mercy of our creditors??In short the NWO- one world government and banking control. If you do not believe it you are unable to see past the Main stream media propoganda and belong to the fascists ( NO ONE may criticize the Government OR its leaders- to do so enables the terrorists!!!).
If this was a real terrorist attack Bush would not have sat through the attack with a bunch of kids, Cheney would not have ignored the countdown to the attack at the Pentagon- he would have shot it down instead of ignoring the aide who called out the approach by distance GIVING him the opportunity to do something, NORAD would not have stood down and had planes intercepting at the SLOWEST possible speed.
In conclusion NOTHING the Government says adds up or is substantaited by the FACTS yet with the EMOTIONAL influences being used to drive issues and policies. The Bush administration told us the were ‘creating new realities’- if we only knew then what we know now!!! And, by the way the economy is only doing ‘good’ because of the hundreds of Billions being pumped into it because of the WAR- the real unvarnished data proves it.
Wake the F*CK up it is almost too late!!! Let those who continue to lie and deceive and serve foreign masters (those who drink the AIPAC KoolAid) pay CLOSE attention to the coming elections, especially those where electronic voting machines have been PROVEN to be easily tampered with because we have had enough. Oil companies planning the breakup of Iraq with Cheney, No-Bid government contracts, NO-Bid/negotiation on Medicare drugs, ‘you’re either with us or against us’-just short of calling your opposition terrorist!- in short FACISM is alive and well in the United States!!!!!!!!!!!!!

September 3rd, 2006 at 8:16 pmSo Bill Clinton, who really made an effort to thwart terrorism gets blamed for 9/11 while G. W. Bush, who is guilty of criminal negligence for ignoring warnings of an impending attack, is made out to be a hero. In other words, it’s business as usual in the twilight days of American democracy.
September 3rd, 2006 at 8:24 pmMethinks the best approach to attacking this stinking piece of crap is a phone campaign directly to the local affiliates. Hit them where it hurts – in the pocketbook (the local sponsors). Anyone here care to coordinate with Kos, Huffpo, et al?

September 3rd, 2006 at 9:44 pmWhen will you be showing a film about all the Bush and Cheney scandals? And they are REAL scandals! Stop blaming Clinton for everything, he has left the whitehouse six years ago, 9/11 happened under the Bush watch and he was warned by the Clinton adminisration multiple times but he and his cronies totally ignored their warnings. Shame on you, you are disgusting! Fleur
September 3rd, 2006 at 10:13 pmPlease do no show this so-called docudrama, it is nothing but propaganda.
September 3rd, 2006 at 10:14 pmI don’t think I will ever watch ABC again. THis is definitely nothing but a huge lie. You people are making a big mistake. We all know this was not because of Clinton.
450 – rr, stands for really riduclous, right? Clueless? Those of us supposedly clueless people realized a long time ago how clueless and moronic your leader and master is. Sit down around a campfire and sign songs? Your leader and master has made the terrorists stronger and more dangerous with the invasion of Iraq. A civil war is raging in Iraq and soon as many American military will be as dead as died at the World Trade Center on 9/11. Whose fault is that? Could it be your clueless, moronic leader and master? Respect them if they want to kill families? How many American families are mourning their sons and daughters, brothers and sisters and fathers and husbands? I would consider that killing families. Bill Clinton the Huckster? Who’s the real huckster – definition: Promote by showmanship. Who’s traveling the country on taxpaper dollars promoting a failing policy and a true fiasco by huckstering? Your leader and master. And we don’t feel badly because we know in our hearts that we’re on the correct side. And you’ve been taken in by a huckster and that makes you the sucker.
September 3rd, 2006 at 11:35 pmMy apologies to 450, I meant 451. Sorry!
September 3rd, 2006 at 11:40 pmHow about a documentary about Bush ties to the Bin Ladin family and why Osama is still free? The CIA can read a license plate from space but can’t find Osama? 9/11 was an inside job. Boycott the advertisers of this propaganda.
September 4th, 2006 at 8:34 am[...] On September 10 and 11, ABC is planning to air a “docudrama” called “Path to 9/11,” billed as “an objective telling of the events of 9/11.” In fact, the film was written by an unabashed conservative who twists the facts to blame President Clinton. [...]
September 4th, 2006 at 3:04 pmI am done with ABC if they air this piece of right wing fantasy. its a disgrace to our country and to the poor lads – our best and brightest – who have layed down their lives for our country — all to prop up the political fortunes of the most incompetant bunch of boobs to ever call themselves servants of the people.
This movie is a national disgrace.
If you have a blog, please collect the following information in one place so we can start the writing/calling campaign.
Steve jobs personal website/email
Disney corp webstie/email taking suggestions/comments
ABC email : someone who is in a position to step above the crap and make the correct call – to not show this disgusting film.
Lets get it in one place, and work it ppl. Only our democracy is at stake…..if there is still any hope.
September 4th, 2006 at 5:38 pmAnd all of a sudden, ABC is advertising this movie as being presented “without interruption”, meaning no commercials, which means — no advertisers? Has anyone heard about a massive sponsor pull-out because of the controversy? In any case, the timing is telling, since today was the first time ABC made mention of the no interruption presentation.
September 4th, 2006 at 10:09 pmBlame Clinton first…
ABC is going ahead with it’s right-wing-penned Clinton hit piece on September 10 and 11….
September 5th, 2006 at 11:22 am[...] Most American high school students weren’t even teenagers when the 9/11 attacks occured. Now ABC is trying to present those students — and scores of people around the world — with its slanted and inaccurate version of history, which blames President Clinton for 9/11 while whitewashing the failures of the Bush administration. The events leading up to September 11, 2001 are too important to play politics with the facts. [...]
September 5th, 2006 at 1:11 pmis aphrodite really ann “the shrew” “harpy” coulter….if not …they’re both cut from the same piece of cloth…living in your world of half truths and hatered must really effect ones sense of reality…because ive not yet talked to or heard from any right wing fanatic the truth or reality of what lead to 9/11 …. or to our invasion of Iraq….where is the “personal responsibility” we were to expect from this administration…..tried to block investigations into what happened leading to 9/11 among one of many attempts to hide thier innept policies….unless you consider totally ignoring the terror threat before 9/11 sound policy…and as for republican congress…..where were they when Clinton tried to inact some of the same measures taken after 9/11…..such as keeping an eye on bank accounts…etc.etc. most of these plans in use now to fight terrorism…..were blocked by a republican congress as favors in the 90’s to bankers and airlines and other industries……so while they were investgating clintons sex life….they themselves were on thier knees in front of big money interests…wondering if they should swollow or spit……
September 5th, 2006 at 1:50 pmThe truth really pisses off all the Moonbats
September 5th, 2006 at 1:56 pmPresident Clinton was president when al Qaeda attacked the US three times – he did nothing except bomb innocent people the evening before Monica testified before congress. Al Qaeda planned 911 for over 5 years – Bush was president about 9 months of this time – Clinton was president for 4 years and three months of that period. When the 911 terrorist were learning to fly – Clinton was president. Al Qaeda attacked the WTC for the first time while Clinton was president – he did nothing.
Only Moonbats history-rewriters will have problems with this show.
September 5th, 2006 at 2:05 pmThis movie is a national disgrace.
Moonbat lying Democrats are a national disgrace
The show looks to be accurate.
The truth really pisses off the moonbats
Democrat propaganda is about to pierced in the heart with the Stingray barb of truth.
September 5th, 2006 at 2:08 pmThe ABC petition is great. Could you get one going for Scholastic and iTunes. We have to keep this garbage out of our classrooms.
September 5th, 2006 at 4:14 pmI think it is sad that our main stream media continues to try to sway the people with information that is hardly the truth. Our country is on its way to a recession and we are spending billions of dollars on a war in Iraq that is wasteful…and should have never happened. The Bush admin. has screwed up this country so bad that i feel bad for the next president walking into this mess. People in this country are fed up with this admin., and if your not well then you should be. I feel lied to and used..I have NEVER voted for Bush..I never approved of him and to me he has no clue what the hell he is doing, and neither does his advisers, its almost like they go the way of the 8 ball, shake it and see what answer they get that day.
September 5th, 2006 at 4:54 pmBlaming Clinton is ridiculous. As an administration in charge at that time..they have all these people working in the CIA, and informatives that were informing the president….and duh apparantly he doesnt read the paperwork, probubly reads like he talks…duh..the man is just dumb..the guy cant even speak like he is intelligent..anyways to blame the prior administration is irrisponsible and child like. He could have made some attempts like they are now..to have the CIA, FBI and others to be involved in the “behind the scenes”investigations..instead he takes vacations and here we are a nation under attack..This movie is unethical….it proves no truth and is falsly leading the Americans. ABC is stupid. Of course this is maybe a publicity stunt…to get tons of viewers to be onlookers that night..so they can say they got the highest ratings of viewers and well if that does happen..I hope that the people watching can depict facts from fiction…Look we unfortunatly have to stick it out there and wait for GWB to get the freak out of OUR Big House, and get a knowledgeable, educated democrate in there to clean house and get this country back on its feet and in the right direction..
ABC what a tragedy…..
[...] This weekend ABC is airing so-called “docudrama directed” by a conservative activist and close friend of Rush Limbaugh’s. ABC is billing the the program The Path to 9/11 as “an objective telling of the events of 9/11″, but in fact it contains various inaccuracies aimed at creating the impression that the Clinton administration was primarily to blame for the 9/11 attacks. Congresswoman Louise Slaughter has already spoke out against it. [...]
September 5th, 2006 at 6:00 pmUh-oh…Seems the Libbies can’t face the facts..
Hey Libbies…Answer the following…
When 9-11 occured who appointed the folliowing heads of the very depts that where assigned to protect America and American citizens from Foreign attack?…
Anti-Terrorism Czar Richard Clarke…
CIA director George Tenat?
anybody want to talk about Able Danger?
*ignoring Jamie Gorlick wall*
Looks like ABC has finally got their facts straight
September 5th, 2006 at 6:56 pmWhy don’t you lefty loser get offline, get a job, pay some taxes and face reality: YOU LOST!
September 5th, 2006 at 9:24 pmSome do not want to be confused with facts, their minds are made up.
Looks like most posters are regurgitating what others are saying and not at all interested in any facts.
I will wait an see for myself and sift it all thru my BS filter.
Not that it matters to the revisionists.
September 5th, 2006 at 11:01 pmBased on Entertainment Weekly, not only does it blame Clinton and Bush to some degree, they just say overall it’s a really bad film (D+). They said it’s almost like camp and not worth watching, which means the right will take it as gospel.
September 6th, 2006 at 1:02 amI am registering my deep displeasure at A.B.C. for airing this dispicable fiction,”The Path To 9/11″
September 6th, 2006 at 3:06 amInteresting how all the lil’ republiscums have time to come out to our forums. Thought they would be busy thinking of place to hide their money or keep black people out of their neighborhoods.
Looks like this one is bothering them deeply. I can see why. When you have the Terrorisim Czar who is a registered Republican say the whole thing is complete bs and that it was the dumb bushies who screwed the pooch, I can see why they are so desperate!
There only hope is to put fear of an attack into the elctorate. Even though a quick review of history, and in the case of Repugs, reality, shows the only major attack happened when George “Dumboya” Bush was in the chair. Not the mention the unpleaent reality that they had warnings over a month before the attack and did not do one thing. And when I say one, I mean one. They did nothing!
Clinton did do something, and we had not even had a major attack on our soil. Also, when he acted, these same dimwitts wagged their crooked fingers in all of our faces and chanted like obnoxious school children, “wag the dog” wag the dog”.
Make no bones about it, these pathological liars are destroying this nation and turning it into Repuptopia! They are not at war with Al Queda, they are at war with us and everything rational!
Just look at the facts, every book Ann Coulter writes is not about getting Al queda, it is about getting us, and she, and the rest of these tired little brats have no quams in inventing their own reality to try to buld this Repuptopia.
They are about 20% of this country and talk like they are 80%. We need to stop them. Right here, right now.
One thing they say is true, we have not been willing to fight. We try to take the high road, errounsly concluding that old battles had been won for good. We cannot afford to think this way any longer! We have to realize that our lives will be a never ending struggle against such greedy and selfish people. They have a patholgy that in order to get away with their obvoiusly sinful behavoir, they have to invent the truth and convince themselves their selfish, greedy and violent behavoir is justified. They are self-delusional and we must use the truh as sword to cut down thier blatant ignorance and arrogance.
Don’t be afraid to stand up to the filthy liars everywhere you find them!
September 6th, 2006 at 3:16 amPlease do not air “The Path to 9/11″ sign the petition
September 6th, 2006 at 9:15 amIf ABC airs such a distorted version of the truth, I will quit watching it.
September 6th, 2006 at 10:13 amWell it’s about time that it be shown Clinton’s lack of action pathed the way to 9/11. Had he cared more about this country than himself it might have never happened. The sorry excuse for a president, Clinton, had more than one opportunity to grab Bin Laden. Liberals have to get over the denial.
Thank God there is a President in there now who has a backbone and who isn’t afraid to fight these people!
The sad thing these days is; You can hardly tell the difference between a terrorist and a liberal.
September 6th, 2006 at 10:22 amPure Bullshit!
September 6th, 2006 at 11:04 amHistory must not be studied critically, only retold by the keepers of the “truth”. The “Leader” must always be cast in flattering terms – brave, honest and strong.
September 6th, 2006 at 12:15 pmJust another ploy for the republicans to blame anyone but their own Party.
September 6th, 2006 at 12:54 pmI swear us Americans need to stand up and take back our country that this idiots are destroying Big Buisness………..= Bullshit Wake up people and look at what is going on in this country……!!
Vote these stupids bastards out of office!!!
Conservatives & Liberals & Independents = Americans
It’s it time to face the truth on what is really happening in this county! Face the truth on how we are now viewed in the World!
Our government is NOT for the poeple, but FOR themselves! True, there are some really good politicans, but far more corrupt, self-absorbed ones.
ABC should be ashamed to show such a one-sided piece of crap not reflecting on what is happening today. Stop pointing fingers, stop spinning the spin and start doing some pieces that MEAN something to us as Americans!!!!!
September 6th, 2006 at 12:58 pmMaybe there are two George Tenets.
September 6th, 2006 at 1:26 pmOne was the CIA director under the Clinton administration that gave advice to the president about the consequences of “offing” Bin Laden –that they could not guarantee the reliablilty of their intelligence at that time–they weren’t sure if Bin Laden was there, that civilians (including members of the Saudi royal family) would have been killed as well and what the fallout would be.
The other George Tenet worked as CIA director for Bush. When questioned before the 9/11 commission about the reliability of sources that said there were WMD he said that he just provided the intelligence, it wasn’t up to the CIA to interpret it.
Reality TV is offensive enough; don’t insult your viewers further with this
September 6th, 2006 at 2:15 pmkind of innacuracy disguised as reality.
Boycott ABC and Disney. Take your kids to Seaworld, Busch Gardens, Great America, etc. Boycott the advertisers of this show if its aired. Hit them in the pocket book.
If CBS pulled the Reagan movie then ABC should do the same with this docudrama which is rife with false information.
September 6th, 2006 at 9:05 pm[...] Liberal’s on the other hand have been snubbed when requesting the same advanced copies including members of former President Clinton’s staff many of whom are being blamed in the docudrama for the 9/11 attacks. [...]
September 7th, 2006 at 7:59 amHow is it that ABC, despite the blatant lies and protests against “Path to 9/11″, will not pull the movie, when CBS felt pressure from the right to pull the movie, “The Reagans”? An to those who defend “Path” by saying, “Hey, it’s only a move”, I say, well, “The Regans” was ONLY a movie and it got pulled off the air! Typical hypocrisy from the right.
September 7th, 2006 at 11:16 amLast Visible Dog, the “blogger” (read his rants above..he or she keeps changing his/her/its name so it looks like there are multiple opinions from muliple cons..how typical of their craziness!), really needs to get back on his Meds!
September 7th, 2006 at 11:26 amThis comment is forcing me to feel ashamed of being an American. The fact that the Bush administration will go to these depths in order to put the blame of 9-11 on Clinton is shameful. Note to Bush- Do the world a favor and go home. Why can’t the Bush administration admit it screwed up? Disney is supposed to be a company that puts on good, healthy, moral filled films for our good population of minors. What does it think it’s doing, publishing lies and supporting a collection of people who only care about themselves? The fact that Scholastic is publishing textbooks with these false facts is unbelievable. Fellow Americans, stand up and resist this government while our country is still breathing, if not concious.
September 7th, 2006 at 2:06 pmWhy is Billy Clinton and his cronies jumping up and down over this! Because it’s true, based off the 9/11 commission report. However, the main point everyone needs to take away from this is not pointing the finger at each other, but at those who did it. Christ sake, it was an attack. The fact that Billy did nothing the 8 years in office to prevent it is really pretty irrelevant, other than it should be learned from. You guys like to say “shut off the tv” when it’s something that really is pretty factual about the Dem’s shortcomings but you’re quick to turn up the volume when MSNBC is spouting off about Bush’s speech the other day.
September 7th, 2006 at 4:54 pmRepublicans in ‘06!!
September 7th, 2006 at 5:04 pmGood luck hard-core terrorists, dems and libs.
This is payback for Farenheit 911.
September 7th, 2006 at 5:50 pmI’m so amazed by the left wing in this country, their all about fluff. If there is any truth on any subject they choose to ignore it.
We should all be concerned that if these idiots get back in control of washington. We should all be concerned about americas safety, because after all why cant we just talk to the terriotist and have dinner together!!!Because after all when sandy berger went to the national archives and stuck information in his pants regarding 911 it was just a silly mistake.
YEAH RIGHT SANDY

September 8th, 2006 at 12:24 pm[...] Now, on the eve of the fifth anniversary of 9/11, ABC/DISNEY is turning over its airwaves to a pseudo-documentary, “The Path to 9/11,” written and produced by far right partisans [the main scriptwriter is Rush Limbaugh friend Cyrus Nowrasteh]. This latest ideological crusade blames the Clinton administration for 9/11, by treating history as if it were a Disney fairy tale that could be changed for any story line. [...]

September 8th, 2006 at 4:02 pm[...] The Path to 9/11 is a movie rife with historical inaccuracies that blames President Clinton while heaping praise on President Bush. The docudrama was written by avowed conservative Cyrus Nowrasteh, who once spoke on a panel entitled: “Rebels With A Cause: How Conservatives Can Lead Hollywood’s Next Paradigm Shift.” But the ideological slant behind this movie goes far deeper than Nowrasteh. Research conducted by a reader at Democratic Underground has revealed that the Path to 9/11 was the result of a project hatched out by a small group of evangelical activists who sought to “transform Hollywood from the inside out.” Here is what we know: Cunningham Linked To YWAM. David Cunningham was contracted by ABC to direct Path to 9/11. Cunningham is the son of Loren and Darlene Cunningham, the founders of Youth With a Mission (YWAM), a Christian evangelical group that actively tries to get “youth into short-term mission work and to give them opportunities to reach out in Jesus’ name.” [...]
September 8th, 2006 at 7:19 pmI find these posts hilarious, ‘declare war on ABC’ most of the comments sound both fanatical and desperate. As if Clinton and Moore are the leaders of some kind of religion and ABC is the great Satan. Maybe we should declare ‘jihad’ on ABC???
The depressing part, is that five years later this much dialogue occurs re-hashing whose fault it is. Isn’t it bloody well obvious…ITS THE TERRORISTS FAULT! Maybe somebody should take up the mission of what to do now.
September 8th, 2006 at 8:32 pmI think it’s hilarious that all of these same people lashing out at ABC for this movie were completely silent went it came to CBS’ movie about The Reagans in which many things making both Nancy and Ronald Reagan appear like bad people were confirmed to be fabricated by the movie’s own writer. In fact, if this 9/11 movie had fabricated things about Bush or any Republicans, the left wouldn’t care.
I personally think that it’s a violation of the 1st amendment to disallow ABC to air this movie or to make them alter it.
September 8th, 2006 at 10:43 pmAnd for all those who said CBS pulled the Reagans movie, they didn’t. They simply moved it to cable to avoid a wider viewing. It won Emmys.
September 8th, 2006 at 10:44 pmUnfortunately, it seems that no one here did any research…
Only the first part of the movie was shown to critics (the part focusing on the Clinton years). Apparently, there is a second part that is equally harsh on the Bush administration, but no one seems to care. Saying that the film is “biased” or “slanted” or what-have-you is ignorant of this fact.
September 8th, 2006 at 10:50 pmI am surprised how many people are okay with wanting ABC to censor this mini-series. Censorship is censorship no matter how you slice it. Since when does a political party stand together and ask for censorship and so many people think that it is okay for them to do so. Can’t you see what a slippery slope this is.
September 9th, 2006 at 1:06 amHeh, heh, heh..Yea, those Swift Boat Vets have got it going again just before election time. We know at least 35% of those watching TV will believe what they see.

Re: FULL SUPPORT of “the Path to 9/11″
Hi
I am in FULL SUPPORT of showing this film on ABC. Please we do NOT need to give in to Clinton’s Lawyers and his cronies to remove this film. To see this fear by the Clinton’s people, it shows me that they are afraid to face up to their failures and irresponsibilities. It is important for all of us to see this film. It will be a great historical reference in the years to come. I look forward to seeing this film as is.
September 9th, 2006 at 4:28 pmABC news is a pathetic FoxNews wannabe.
With Clinton, we had money in the bank, respect in the world, education in the right perspective, we had a car, a home, a better environment and great hope for the future….until…
Newt Gingrich’s “Contract With America” became “Contract ON America”!
Santa Claus spent all our money and we are in the red. Hocked our car; lost our home; dismal future for our old age; they go home to party and a great life and we clean the trash can for the scraps they left behind. Our educational system is in distress; everybody in the world hates us and we still don’t get that ‘America’ is a continent!
Olga
Austin, Texas
P.S. …and we have to put up with our own ‘Kinky Friedman’ for governor!
September 9th, 2006 at 4:40 pmThis is definitely something I want to see.
September 10th, 2006 at 2:12 pmComrades Bravo!
These traitors at ABC are betrayers of our new mother land. Where I come from, this Robert A. Iger would be dragged through the streets in front of the tomb of our glorious leader Vladimir Lenin and shot in public. The producers, directors, writers and anyone associated with this propaganda would be picked up in the early hours of the morning by our State Security Chief Lavrenty Beria (The Black Hand) and taken to a Siberian labor camp never too be heard from again.
For many years I have been loyal to ABC and the Pravda (truth) that our Socialist Liberal ally has put forth in order to progress our ultimate goal; the decline and absolute destruction of America and the capitalist traitorous pig’s like ABC.
I ask you Mr. Robert A. Iger, “Have you no shame Sir
Comrades, we must not give up the fight. It has taken us many years to groom you and your elected leaders.
Remember what our great leader Nikita Khrushchev said:
“ We can’t expect the American People to jump from Capitalism to Communism, but we can assist their elected leaders in giving them small doses of Socialism, until they awaken one day to find that they have Communism ”
It’s more important now then ever before that we stand together and stay focused! We can not allow this abomination of propaganda to go forward.
We must do whatever it takes to keep this film from airing on Sunday the 10th, 2006, we only have a few hours left.
It is your duty as loyal Liberal Socialist Democrats to rise up in solidarity and put a stop to this immediately!
Senator Harry Reid, one of our courageous and distinguished Senatorial leaders from the state of Nevada, reminded the capitalist traitorous pigs at ABC of their license from the FCC. Please Senator Reid, we’re your loyal comrades in arms and begging you to use all the glorious power you possess. You must stop this film! You must push forward with an iron fist and crush this despicable display of propaganda.
If this film isn’t stopped from airing on ABC, Sunday night, I’m afraid all our efforts since the cold war and the aspirations of our great leaders from glorious years past and Nikita Khrushchev’s dreams and predictions will have been lost.
If we loose now, the great Liberal Socialist Democratic Party, we have nurtured, will decline into the ash heaps of history never too be heard from again.
You must!…. I repeat, you must contact our comrades in arms at their offices in Washington.
Now I’ve done all the work all you have to do is contact our comrades below by e-mail or call:

Cry me a river! Lol! I love it when liberals squirm. The truth is so painful!!!
September 10th, 2006 at 10:55 pmDon’t let it air… don’t let it air!!! Heaven help us if the American public knows the truth. The liberals in this country are truely pathetic.
Why is Clinton and his apologists trying to gag ABC?
September 11th, 2006 at 12:06 pmI thought democrats and liberals were the gallant defenders of our freedom of speech! Come on guys! You left wing fascists totally control the media, but please let one us see at least one little movie with a different viewpoint
Maybe its because I haven’t seen the 1st 1-2 hours of part One, but I don’t think this miniseries puts Condaleeza Rice or President Bush in a good light. They looked like fools because they couldn’t get any decent information because the CIA and FBI were holding onto classified information and not sharing.
Am I wrong? Please tell me how this puts Clinton in a bad light. By the way I was a big supporter of Clinton while he was President.
September 12th, 2006 at 2:54 pmI thought it was an outstanding movie, being much more accurate than not. Yeah, Clinton Adminisrtration officials take a small hit in it, but they deserve it. They obviously did a poor job on fighting terrorism. If that were not true, we would not have gotten hit.
September 12th, 2006 at 8:47 pmOf course the movie does not help Bush at all, because his administration also did nothing in the 4 months he was President before 911.
However since Bush was in office a mere 4 months at tyhe time, and Clinton had just finished up 8 years as President, the movie correctly focuses more on the clinton administration’s record. To do otherwise would not be responsible.
Liberals who object to this movie need to step vback and learn to admit that the Clinton Administration was not perfect, and that they did make mistakes, too. Sometimes…as in the case of how Bill handled the terrorist threat–those mistakes were big.
#510, yea I’m thinking it’s because you didn’t see the “1st 1-2 hours of part one,” which means your basically talking out of your ass.
What puts Clinton (and ALL the liberal leadership) in a bad light is that he was too interested in golf, other women, and getting his cigar smoked instead of responding to the TWENTY NINE terrorist attacks that occurred against US interests on his watch. His only response was to blow up a pharmaceutical factory, and that’s why 9/11 occurred.
Are you wrong? No you are uninformed, biased, and just stupid.
You were a big supporter of good ole “I didn’t inhale” Clinton, that also makes you a sucker.
I defy you to honestly answer this question: In the days following 9/11 did you (in your heart) believe that we would be hit again, and sooner than later. If someone would have told you that five years would go by without another strike would you have believed it?
Like almost everyone in this country I was sure we would be hit again. But, five years have gone by and still no strike. Are we safer? Your God Damn right we are, why… because of George W Bush that’s why!
Of course in your squirmy little liberal mind I’m sure you think that there are no terrorists out there that want to kill you and your family.
I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again, liberals are hateful, undermining, unpatriotic, immoral, godless, reckless, power hungry, idea-less, maggots.
Oh yea… to quote you “They looked like fools because they couldn’t get any decent information because the CIA and FBI were holding onto classified information and not sharing.” Whose policies do you think thesse were, Clintons stupid.
Wake up dipshit.

September 12th, 2006 at 11:34 pmExcuse me Fred.
Well let’s see. Frist…. ALL AMERICAN POLITICIANS ARE BOLD FACE LIARS… They are in it for what they can get out of it.. Exception is Bama … I haven’t heard too much of him, so I can’t call him a liar, but the rest well there all in the same boat….You don’t have to believe me, even if it hit you in the face you wouldn’t believe it.. From as far back to Pearl Harbor and further on up to the War on Iraq its all been a lie.. Like I said you don’t have to believe me. Just look it up yourself. Then make your comments.. Would a Govt attack it’s own people and then make it look like someone else’s fault? Sure they would … To rally their people behind them. Especially when it comes down to making money.. I have a chanellenge for them instead of making more misery and forking up the world as they have been doing why not really try to run the world and make it a better place to live in. But i guess that would be too hard for them….. But I guess once you you start a sham or con job you have to keep it going.
For all you non believers out there, Anwsers.com defines lair as
liar
noun
One who tells lies: fabricator, fabulist, falsifier, fibber, prevaricator. Informal storyteller. Law perjurer.
But of course a lot of American Lawyers will argue the this is not the case but one who simply misstattes the truth. What a big load crock of shit……..
