Sec. Rumsfeld last week compared Iraq war critics to Hitler appeasers. This morning on Fox News, Sen. Elizabeth Dole (R-NC) was asked to name someone — anyone — who actually believes “the terrorists can be appeased.” She couldn’t do it.
Instead, she went on an extended rant criticizing those who have “raised concerns” about the PATRIOT Act, the “Terrorist Surveillance Program” (i.e., warrantless domestic spying), and the missile defense system. The host then asked Dole whether that “goes to the level” of appeasement. She dodged the question a second time. Watch it:
Full transcript:
WALLACE: Senator Dole, which Democrats, and I’d like you to name them, which Democrats running for the Senate this year believe the terrorists can be appeased?
DOLE: Well, let me say, first of all, that I think what the administration officials were saying is that this is a very serious situation. They want the American people to realize that these are Islamic jihadists who are literally trying to destroy our way of life, destroy us, and they were raising the level of attention to just how serious it is.
WALLACE: I know, but some people –
DOLE: And I just want to say — let me just mention that the tools that are needed to fight the war on terror, such as the PATRIOT Act — now, there are a number of the Democrat candidates who are against the PATRIOT Act. Sherrod Brown, for example, who’s running against Mike DeWine in Ohio. I could name any number — um, Bob Menendez, I believe, voted against the PATRIOT Act. The Terrorist Surveillance Program, many of the Democrats have raised concerns about this particular tool, which enabled, the same kind of tool enabled the British to come across the plot to bomb airplanes, and the Bank Surveillance Act, and missile defense system, the Democrats have been against the missile defense system.
WALLACE: Do you think that goes to the level — and I’ll give Senator Schumer a chance in a moment — do you think that goes to the level of what Secretary [sic] Cheney called trying to appease the terrorists, or what Vice President… what Secretary Rumsfeld called — or what Vice President Cheney called trying to “satisfy the appetite of the terrorists”?
DOLE: I think that this is designed to raise the attention of the American people to the severity of these Islamic jihadists who are in a holy war, who as I say want to destroy us. It’s a movement, and it’s a very serious matter, and I think that’s what they were trying to do.
She can’t name one because their “appeasers” are made out of straw and fall down alot, kinda like her husband.
September 3rd, 2006 at 12:57 pmWow, looks like the weekend right wing spin machine is running full tilt, 100% capacity, full steam ahead, given it all she’s got, we’re not stoppin’ this thing until we have catastrophic failure.
September 3rd, 2006 at 1:00 pmFox News asked a real question………TWICE!?
September 3rd, 2006 at 1:00 pmShe should have said this:
it seems to me that it’s up to all of us to try to tell the truth, to say what we know, to say what we don’t know, and recognize that we’re dealing with people that are perfectly willing to, to lie to the world to attempt to further their case and to the extent people lie of, ultimately they are caught lying and they lose their credibility and one would think it wouldn’t take very for that to happen dealing with people like this.
We know where they are. They’re in the area around Tikrit and Baghdad and east, west, south, and north somewhat.
September 3rd, 2006 at 1:07 pmJason needs an enema… Try some veggies Jason. All that meat just makes you fat, pasty, constipated and angry. No wonder you’re wanting to attack the world.
September 3rd, 2006 at 1:09 pmName one Liberal who wants that.
September 3rd, 2006 at 1:09 pmthan preserve our freedom and American way of life.
Comment by Jason M. Hendler
Jason, really, Im sorry for you. So scared you are. I hope you find some peace.
September 3rd, 2006 at 1:10 pmhag!
September 3rd, 2006 at 1:10 pm“Uh, uh… Some people?”
Happy Labor Day weekend, people! Assclowns of the Week: #46 is up a bit early today. On the spit this week:
George W. Bush (4, 8)
Lee Siegel (6)
Pat Buchanan (3)
Donald Rumsfeld (1, naturally)
And much, much more!
Maybe Liz Dole will make next week’s list. Let’s wait and see.
September 3rd, 2006 at 1:11 pmDid you see Bill Maher advocating conversion to Islam!
Comment by Scarface — September 3, 2006 @ 1:06 pm
I saw that interview and your comment confirms your stupidity. Bill Maher is not religious. He openly jokes about being a heathen…
You guys are desperately afraid that we aren’t afraid. How pathetic!
September 3rd, 2006 at 1:12 pmRemember your SATs? Try this brain-teaser:
Cheney:treason :: Bush:lies :: Rummy:fascism.
Cheers.
September 3rd, 2006 at 1:12 pmThanks Jason for your version of the “you don’t know how good you have it, your life would suck in other countries” argument. Well if Americans were not so “shielded” from knowing what the rest of the world is really like, maybe more of the population would not take our freedoms and way of life for granted.
September 3rd, 2006 at 1:13 pmscarface- do us a favor. move to texas so you and the other bush supporters (no too many left) can start your very own fascist regime. Just because someone critizes the way Bush does his job doesn’t mean they want to play grab ass with terrorists but your too blinded by your dumb ass faith and fear to actually consider intelligent options in the fight. Reality is not a Rambo movie you tool.
September 3rd, 2006 at 1:14 pmBut how ’bout Libby’s botched facelift? She looks like Dr. Sardonicus.
September 3rd, 2006 at 1:15 pmIt’s just sad to see the idiots we choose to represent us in Congress.
Jason, you really have to stop listening to Limbaugh.
September 3rd, 2006 at 1:16 pmAnother typical GOP ploy. If you can not back up your allegations, change the subject.
September 3rd, 2006 at 1:18 pmYou have got to be our craziest troll yet.
September 3rd, 2006 at 1:25 pmHendler, why did George Bush appease Muammar Ghaddaffy?
Why did Bush/Cheney appease the Lockerbie bomber? Do they think they can shake hands with this terrorist and trust him?

September 3rd, 2006 at 1:26 pmWhat are you a Puritan? “A pox” isn’t that from like the 16th century?
September 3rd, 2006 at 1:26 pmoh no…not the pox!
September 3rd, 2006 at 1:26 pmWhat the hell is a “holding war”? Is it anything like the CIVIL WAR that is going on in Iraq??
(Mrs. Dole’s face is amazingly wrinkle-free and life-like, yet seems decades younger than her neck. How’d that happen?
September 3rd, 2006 at 1:26 pmAnd no one seems to mention that she is almost unrecognizable. Mr. AND Mrs. Dole seem to spend a lot of time getting artificially hoisted up in one way or another.)
When Donald Rumsfeld shook hands with Saddam Hussien in 1983, he was appeasing the terrorists for Reagan.
September 3rd, 2006 at 1:27 pmJason is another agent provocateur.
Hey look buddy, look at this fine liberal shaking hands with Saddam
Oops! It’s LetsGetReadyToRumblesfeld and his best friend Saddam
And what’s this? Bush is good friends with the Bin Laden family?? Well holy holding-hands-with-bin-ladens batman! (picture provided)
How’s about all this other information, detailing the family ties for Bush Bin Laden right here
Including such juicy tidbits as how a Learjet containing several Bin Laden family members was allowed to fly out of the USA just days after 9/11 while all other air traffic was grounded?
Did you know also, the Bush family wealth originated from dealings with the Nazis? Looks like Bush Jnr inherited some great morals from ol’ grandpappy Bush.
With such stout integrity and lack of conflicts of interests like this, we can count on BushCo to get the job done and keep America safe. Just sign your Bill of Rights and Constitution away here. And here. Sign away your life to perpetual debt here too please. Thanks.
September 3rd, 2006 at 1:27 pmLooking at Liddy, no wonder Bob Dole needs Viagra to get things in action. Liddy Dole is erection kryptonite.

September 3rd, 2006 at 1:27 pmdoes this include renters?
September 3rd, 2006 at 1:27 pmGee scarface your utopian society doesn’t leave alot of room for anything but two states of religious whackos. To simplify America like that is discraceful and shows your lack of intelligence. YOur list is a crock o shit too. I’ve never heard one of those people say they want to shake hands with terrorists. Your so dumb it hurts.
September 3rd, 2006 at 1:28 pmNice neocon enemies list scarface. Still, not one of them is looking to shake a terrorists hand or appease them in any way. That makes you a liar and your list shit.
That was easy.
Maybe you should take a look at how well your freedom has been preserved over the last 5 years instead of repeating the lies you’ve sold.
September 3rd, 2006 at 1:29 pmScarface = agent provocateur. Do not fall for the trap, which is simply to derail the topic.
September 3rd, 2006 at 1:30 pmScarface is a walking contradiction.
September 3rd, 2006 at 1:30 pmWe should be surprised republican women are as unethical, liars, cheats, and asshats as republican men? Of course she couldn’t answer the question, Rove gave her the talking points 2 minutes till air and she hadn’t even thought about them before opening her mouth.
September 3rd, 2006 at 1:31 pmHey scarface FRANCE is a US ally.
Remember those ? We used to have loads of em, now not so much.
The French fight next to our soldiers in Afghanistan. What, you don’t like their “toast” or something?
September 3rd, 2006 at 1:33 pmSympathizer?
Dipshit, Prescott Bush, George Bush’s Grandpa, funded the Nazis. You need to wake the hell up and read something. Anything. And turn off Fox News.
September 3rd, 2006 at 1:34 pmScarface,
Dipshit, if this wasn’t your first day on this site, you would know that I don’t like Clinton anymore than I like Bush. But, it is your first time here and you think you know everything. So, rather that realizing that a lot of the peolpe here don’t like CLinton either, you just come here a spew a lot of worthless garbage. Dumbass.
September 3rd, 2006 at 1:36 pmWhy are the trolls usually the nastiest on Sundays after church?
What do they tell you guys when you attend? I thought Jebus was about peace, love and loving your neighbors…?
September 3rd, 2006 at 1:43 pmScarface,
Ever heard of the Inigma Machine?
It was made by IBM.
There is a big difference between randomly naming some people and saying they do something and having proof.
Now, you are trying to change the subject.
You said that Democrats want to shake hands with the terrorists. I said name some. You provided a list and I asked for one single link to any one of the people for proof and you are now changing the subject to who supported the Nazis.
Now, provide a link to one of the people on your list stating that they want to shake hands with the terrorists.
September 3rd, 2006 at 1:43 pmYou know, she sounds like a robot.
Totally ignores the question and just repeats the same propoganda over and over.
September 3rd, 2006 at 1:44 pmAs an aside: Fox Moos spelled Rumsfeld wrong lol they put “Rumsleld”.
September 3rd, 2006 at 1:47 pmYou want righteousness!! I got your righteousness right here…..
Who was it that said he went to war because GOD spoke to him?
That would be George Bush.
Who repeatedly calls this a battle between good and evil or a CRUSADE?That would be George Bush as well.
The left is not abusing the name of god for their political purposes.
September 3rd, 2006 at 1:48 pmHAHAHAHAAA…

Hey Republicans..It’s the Stupidity, Stupid!
September 3rd, 2006 at 1:50 pmYou are correct. It is the right who uses god’s name to create wars. Both George Bush and Osama bin Laden do it. They are both conservative religious righties.
September 3rd, 2006 at 1:50 pmYou are correct. It is the right who uses god’s name to create wars. Both George Bush and Osama bin Laden do it. They are both conservative religious righties.
September 3rd, 2006 at 1:52 pm==
Hitler also used ‘Christianity’ and God to get his war machine greased, yet we all know Hitler wasn’t a Christian, such is why I have serious doubts about these people whom always use GOD as their Rationality for war.
The Right doesn’t believe in God. They believe in money, and are so sick that they think collecting great wads of money make them closer to god-like. They certainly have proved that they have no intention of following Christ, and that and of jesus’ teachings as applied today would just be appeasing the terrorists (all 15 of them). Whining, lying cowards are what the big money has brought us, and now they’re stripping us of our freedom and democracy because they’re afraid af a dozen angry Muslims. Being a Republican means having a serious mental illness.
September 3rd, 2006 at 1:52 pmThe Right doesn’t believe in God. They believe in money, and are so sick that they think collecting great wads of money make them closer to god-like.
September 3rd, 2006 at 1:57 pm==
Such is why they are so confused. The bible has Jesus flipping the tables of the money changer and telling them that the love of money is the root of all evil. And it makes the GOP Hypocrites of Christianity from the word go.
The GOP is desperate to keep their power. The only thing they’ve got left is to try and deflect attention away from their atrocious policies. If they pull off another victory this fall, expect the fascism they want to foster to spread completely around this country. It’s about time for others in the MSM to follow the Olbermann lead and beginning speaking about what’s really going on here.
September 3rd, 2006 at 1:59 pmSenator Dole is correct. Liberals would rather shake hands with and appease the enemy than preserve our freedom and American way of life. Liberals need to have all of their freedoms stripped away so they can learn to appreciate being American.
I can’t tell if you’re being facetious or not, Jason, but I’ll assume the worst and say that the Patriot Act does a nice job of stripping freedoms. The bank surveilliance and warrantless wiretapping do a nice job of stripping freedoms. The President’s placing himself above the rule of law does a nice job of stripping freedoms. Where will this freedom stripping end?
It’s nice how the terrorists “hate us because of our freedoms”, or so we’ve been told by this administration, and they’re appeasing them by stripping our freedoms away.
September 3rd, 2006 at 2:04 pmShame the trolls can’t even stick to using the same name, they have to keep making new ones to spare their embarrassment.
September 3rd, 2006 at 2:06 pmMissile defense system? How in heck does Lizzy “pleased as punch” Dole think Star Wars will stop Al Qaeda? What has she been putting into her punch? Lord - she is a pathetic POS.
September 3rd, 2006 at 2:18 pmThis is too easy.
Wasn’t it President Bush’s current Secretary of Defense, Donald Rumsfeld who shook hands with Saddam Hussein after it was known that Hussein was using chemical weapons and gassing his own people?
Rumsfeld shaking Saddam Hussein’s hand in appeasment
Maybe Jason thinks Donald Rumsfeld is a liberal?
September 3rd, 2006 at 2:24 pmTurd meet blossom……blossom……..turd.
September 3rd, 2006 at 2:26 pmDoesn’t that sound like fascism to you? It does to me. Weird. I think the dictionary agrees with me.

YO Jason what were you saying about moral republican values and raising kids?
September 3rd, 2006 at 2:27 pmason M. Hendler sed:
Senator Dole is correct. Liberals would rather shake hands with and appease the enemy than preserve our freedom and American way of life.

The only picture I have seen of a ‘neo-liberal’ shaking hands with the enemy is Don Rumsfeld and Saddam..
September 3rd, 2006 at 2:29 pmHow in the hell did they get this hag out of bed and sobered up enough to appear on an early Sunday program?
She was out boozing it up with George Allen last night for Gods sake.
There is nothing worse than a female drunk.
September 3rd, 2006 at 2:31 pmI have always disliked her, I prejudged her as a phony. Then I read a lengthy article about her obsessive compulsiveness and her neurotic habits of sending aids ahead to count steps between here and there, so she would be sure to step off on the most flattering foot, in the most favorable light, etc.
September 3rd, 2006 at 2:31 pmShe is a shallow person - my first impressions were not wrong.
Another thing - I have often felt that Republiscum have no sense of humor and scarface and JMH prove that correct also; satire and sarcasm escape them.
September 3rd, 2006 at 2:33 pmDang, I thought Scarface and Jason were joking. It turns out that they seriously do hate America.
Why do conservatives like to appease terrorists by stipping away what makes us American? Why are conservatives anti-American?
Seems as if we dropped a million conservatives off in Cuba, we’d have a good start in improving our own country. Of course, Cuba would be more in the crapper than they are already.
Tough.
By the way, Scarface, it was you conservatives that wanted to enter WWII on the side of the Nazis.
September 3rd, 2006 at 2:34 pmApparently they think shock and awe bombing resolves all problems. They can’t express themselves, so they want to use force to get their way. How juvenile. They have never matured and assimilated into society where tact, diplomacy, discussion, negotiation and compromise make all the wheels turn.
September 3rd, 2006 at 2:38 pmBecause they themselves are ignorant and impotent, they assume that everyone is as well, so like poorly raised children, they are the ones fighting on the playground every day.
#6: if we divide America the Red States will go bankrupt. Plain and simple, the Red States receive more money from the federal govt than they pay in and the Blue States put more money in than they receive back. Good luck to ya!
September 3rd, 2006 at 2:41 pmWhat God does the right fight in the name of? NOT THE GOD I SERVE!!! If anything, he would come down and destroy these idiots that serve the god of money, power and wealth, or what Bush says is, “His base.” (Quoted form F 9/11. God wants us to prosper, but if the least of us is hungry, he is not happy. HELLO NEW ORLEANS NOW AND DURING HURRICANE KATRINA!!!
And this guy uses the name scarface? Dosen’t he know he is advocating/representing a drug dealer that went bad with delusions of his own power and was destroyed when he got out of control? OOPS. I guess he is using the right name supporting this adminstration/crime family/cartel.
Hey Think progress guys, pick a right wing blog and troll today on me!
SAY GOODBYE TO THE BAD GUY!!! YOU NEED PEOPLE LIKE ME!!!
September 3rd, 2006 at 2:44 pmThey hate us for our freedom.
President Bush is dertermined to bring that to an end, one way or the other.
Probably the other.
September 3rd, 2006 at 2:45 pmhey, scarface…
GO DIE IN IRAQ.
you too, hendler. you country needs you…needs you DEAD.
September 3rd, 2006 at 2:45 pmThey only wake sen. Dole up when it’s time to use the rubberstamp or it’s time to change Depends.
September 3rd, 2006 at 2:46 pm[…] Liddy Dole. […]
September 3rd, 2006 at 2:49 pmFunny how the trolls didn’t even attempt to defend Rumsfeld’s and Cheney’s lies and accusations. “Wait… look over here… here’s a straw man that I could try to defend instead.” weak.
September 3rd, 2006 at 2:53 pmGeez Louise, how are the repukes going to stigmatize the results of their own policies to stay in office?
Ahhhnold has had to go so radical as to support Democrat policies.
If they want to get elected they are going to have to behave like Democrats for the next couple of months.
They gotta go for the short term memories of Americans to stay in office.
They gotta claim to be victims of their own polices.
They gotta claim they didn’t want any of this.
They gotta claim Democrats are to blame for their ‘good’ policies going ‘bad’.
They gotta claim they will get it right the next time around.
Tax cuts, ‘war’ spending, spying, budget busting programs will be fixed if you all just give them one more chance.
If Americans don’t give them that chance. The Terrorists will win……. had to throw that in too.
And never bring up the subject of how terrorists will attack us because preventative actions were never taken before new attacks took place.
After all the Democrats who are not in power in anyway, shape or form are to blame for Republicans lack of action here.
September 3rd, 2006 at 2:57 pmSince I’m still reading comments here, I wanted to add that the terrorists and Republicans have something else in common…
The Islamist terrorists want all the world to follow a strict interpretaion of their Koran, which is very similar to the Christian Bible.
The Christianist Republicans want all the world to follow their interpretation of the King James Old Testament, which is very similar to the television series, Leave it to Beaver.
September 3rd, 2006 at 3:12 pmI LOVE Sundays on TP — the talk shows and the trolls are full of material on which to make fun.
September 3rd, 2006 at 3:14 pmScarface,
September 3rd, 2006 at 3:39 pmSadly, I think you will find that “United States of America” is copyright ([c] 1776, 1789, 1863) property of the Blue States. If you want to split you’re going to have to come up with a new name for your lot. You liked “Confederate States of America” last time you tried to quit in pursuit of your peculiar institutions, but I wouldn’t presume to tell you how you want to brand yourself this time around.
Those Tri Deltas sure can shovel it.
September 3rd, 2006 at 3:48 pmI think our Miss Liddy has gone a bit senile.
September 3rd, 2006 at 4:24 pmHey conservatives, check out where billions came from to put you in control of our government.

September 3rd, 2006 at 4:24 pmJackson Brown
Before the Deluge
Some of them were dreamers
And some of them were fools
Who were making plans and thinking of the future
With the energy of the innocent
They were gathering the tools
They would need to make their journey back to nature
While the sand slipped through the opening
And their hands reached for the golden ring
With their hearts they turned to each others heart for refuge
In the troubled years that came before the deluge
Some of them new pleasure
And some of them knew pain
And for some of them it was only the moment that mattered
And on the brave and crazy wings of youth
They went flying around in the rain
And their feathers, once so fine, grew torn and tattered
And in the end they traded their tired wings
For the resignation that living brings
And exchanged loves bright and fragile glow
For the glitter and the rouge
And in the moment they were swept before the deluge
Now let the music keep our spirits high
And let the buildings keep our children dry
Let creation reveal its secrets by and by
By and by–
When the light thats lost within us reaches the sky
Some of them were angry
At the way the earth was abused
By the men who learned how to forge her beauty into power
And they struggled to protect her from them
Only to be confused
By the magnitude of her fury in the final hour
And when the sand was gone and the time arrived
In the naked dawn only a few survived
And in attempts to understand a thing so simple and so huge
Believed that they were meant to live after the deluge
Now let the music keep our spirits high
September 3rd, 2006 at 4:25 pmAnd let the buildings keep our children dry
Let creation reveal its secrets by and by
By and by–
When the light thats lost within us reaches the sky

Friend, you wouldn’t know what “being an American” means. In fact, you are so far from being an American, it isn’t even funny. A lapdog of a fascist, that you are. An idiot only too willing to give another idiot absolute power over you and your sad little life, yes. But being an American? No. You know nothing about that.
September 3rd, 2006 at 5:02 pmSince when is being against missile defense somehow a negative when it comes to combatting terrorism?
As a reminder, Dip$hit Bush and his Phucktard posse emphasized missile defense OVER Al Qaeda and terrorism prior to 9/11, just one of the MANY indicators that Bush ignored the terrorism threat til it was too late.
Missile defense. Maybe if the Republicans hadn’t been sleeping on terrorism and trying to pass missile defense and make such a big deal out of Kyoto in 2001, they would have prevented terrorism, which Clinton’s folks called the single greatest threat to America upon leaving office, a warning which was totally ignored by the Bushies.
Keep watching Fox News, twits, you too can be innoculated against the facts.
September 3rd, 2006 at 5:10 pmBelieve what you will about racial profiling, King Ghidorah. The authoritarian personalities in charge simply love the fact that everyone needs to submit to searches when riding air, bus, or rail transport. You’d still get your luggage ransacked and person defiled, no matter how white you think you are.
And while there are leftists who are for gun control, only a minority of them balk when it comes to arming public servants and pilots. Are you saying that the TSA is appeasing leftist gun control nuts at the price of your safety concerns?

September 3rd, 2006 at 5:28 pmThe only problem with your claim for the Enigma Machine is that it was invented before IBM existed. The technology of the machjine was so guarded that no German company with relations outside of Germany was allowed to participate in its manufacture. The history and desciption of the machine are here.
I am very aware of its existance because my Dad was on the team that developed an electronic version that decoded the messages faster than the Germans could after the Brits broke the code. As a result, the Allied forces knew the message contents before the German high command or field commanders.
LIZZIE STUMPED? Guess she didn’t have her talking points prepared? Unfortunately, she doesn’t have a clue as to who she is and has been a GOP ‘cheerleader’ for too long. Or maybe it’s all of the hair dye and corrosive cosmetics leaching into her brain through her pores? She’s a non entity as far as I can see. Maybe she’ll do commercials with Bobby someday?
September 3rd, 2006 at 5:37 pmIf “Leftist” equals common sense than yeah. Nobody should take a gun on a plane. A bullet through the very soft aluminum hull means game over for anybody on board. Air Marshalls should be carrying something that will take out a highjacker and not penetrate the hull.
September 3rd, 2006 at 5:40 pmThe Left controls the media, Hollywood and special interests groups. Also George Soros’s front groups will organize protests along with their allies from CAIR.
Ah, the George Soros conspiracy. Got it.
And here I thought it was the aliens who control our military from Area 51.
September 3rd, 2006 at 5:41 pmThanks for insight, guys. What I thought was hair dye and cosmetic chemicals was probably plain old-fashioned booze. Whatever it is, it ain’t pretty! Everytime one of those airhead repugs appear, they manage to shoot themselves in the foot by either being obviously impaired (intoxicated, inebriated, or just plain suffering from senile dementia) or by stammering wildly and abruptly hijacking the conversation to something they can speak to by rote. It’s pathetically obvious to viewers who come away scratching their heads and wondering….”is this what I am paying to represent me”? Wow! Lizzy’s old and over the hill. It’s apparent that she is suffering from some form of brain dysfunction.

Shooting a gun on a plane will not cause explosive decompression
September 3rd, 2006 at 5:46 pmSorry chris, I love the mythbusters, but using retrofitted graveyard recovered airplanes ain’t the same thing.
September 3rd, 2006 at 5:51 pmOnly a very sick individual would think that typing that in any form is anywhere near funny. You are a twisted person who will rot in hell for what you think is right.
September 3rd, 2006 at 5:53 pmI’m not even a reublican so ha!
You can’t be a libertarian. Trolling doesn’t fit their personality type. You must be a communist.
September 3rd, 2006 at 5:53 pmHow does the Left control the media, Hollywood and special interest groups? Explain?
I had a conversation, basically a waste of time, with a conservative, who was convinced that because the students and faculty at Ivy League universities were predominantly Democratic voters, this was therefore prima facie evidence that said Ivy League institutions had some sort of conspiracy to: a) discriminate against conservatives; and/or b) brainwash conservatives into becoming liberal.
When I pointed out that maybe it was the case that smart people (who one might associate with the Ivies) were more likely to be openminded enough to change their narrowly defined worldviews, and that such sophisticated intelligent people might inherently be predisposed towards abandoning a political ideology that holds as self-evident such “truths” as “global warming is a product of the liberal media” or “evolution is just an opinion of certain left-leaning scientists” or “if you cut taxes on the investor class, the economy will grow so fast that you’ll receive more in taxes”.
Of course, this gent was also predisposed to calling things he disagreed with “Leftist” or “Marxist”. And of course, he had no idea what “Marxist” actually meant, proffering a definition that would have encapsulated approximately 99% of Burkean conservatives in its breadth.
For you Republicans out there, the last 3 paragraphs may be difficult to understand, so let me break it down for you: You are very very very stupid.
September 3rd, 2006 at 5:54 pmbut using retrofitted graveyard recovered airplanes ain’t the same thing.
Point taken :)
There has to be a military study on this somewhere.
September 3rd, 2006 at 5:56 pmWaltTheMan,
I heard IBM on a History channel or Discovery channle show on the end of WWII. Interesting link.
September 3rd, 2006 at 5:57 pmJason is a juvenile. It’s obvious when you read his posts. He’s afraid and knows that he has been victimized by the great fear factor which has been utilized as a weapon against him. Don’t blame him for reacting in fear - pity him.
September 3rd, 2006 at 5:57 pmJust sayin’.
I like the Mythbusters though. Me and the kid watch it all the time. They do some crazy sh!t.
September 3rd, 2006 at 6:00 pmI don’t speak for everybody on this one, but I don’t like ANY religion. It is only around to control stupid people. I am sure you are very religious.
September 3rd, 2006 at 6:02 pmIf you listen closely to Senator Dole, I think that you’ll find the idea that she was trying to get across is that the all the hyperbole and rhetoric was used to get across the idea that fighting terrorism is serious business. I don’t think that the Doles are particularly fond of all the exaggerations, it’s not their style, but they are party loyalists all the same.
A few months ago, I e-mailed Dole and our other NC senator Richard Burr about the NSA program and the threat that I feel it is to our civil liberties. I received a form response from both that could have been written by the same person. If the Republican controlled congress were truely the evil monolith that it is described as sometimes, they could have made all these activities legal ex post facto, had some show hearings, and got the whole thing swept under the rug before the elections. They don’t even know how to make it look like they are exercising oversight.
Calling the administration war criminals and Nazis has been a tool of the left for a long time, hence their outrage at having the same names flung at them is less than sympathy inspiring.
It seems to me that if the Bush junta are the Nazis the Democrats are no better than the Vichy government in France during the occupation of that country. The two party system is dead, I don’t expect the democrats to restore civil liberties when they take power. Power corrupts and absolute power . . . .
September 3rd, 2006 at 6:03 pmNow name one Athiest anti-religious person that holds any power in the USA.
September 3rd, 2006 at 6:12 pmThis news ties in nicely with a BBC-2 program that had just been aired, “Al Qaeda: Time to Talk?” featuring Peter Taylor.
First off, they did notice that America isn’t in the right mental state for conducting negotiations. Before anyone starts ranting, remember that engaging in a discussion, rather than by arms, does not mean that you endorse the terrorist’s opinions and ideals. Personally, I would add that during the 2nd World War Allied and German corporations continued doing business, albeit via Switserland. Then there’s also the PLO. Talking with your enemy can be fruitful.
Now what would “the-coalition-of-the-willing” (or whatever’s your eufemism for US/UK-combination) talk about with Al Qaeda should they opt to try that out for a chance? Realistically speaking, I know it won’t happen during the next two years, but a Middle-East expert featured on the program reiterated Al Qaeda’s three main points:
1. Israel-Palestine conflict.
2. American support for authoritarian regimes in the Middle-East.
3. Presence of American troops in the Middle-East.
Right now the current foreign policies (if any) of the US mainly serve Al Qaeda’s interests, the more wrong turns (Abu Graib, secret prisons, occupation of Iraq, etc.) are made the easier it becomes for the terrorists to recruit people for their causes. Ponder about it. If you start talking with them and make it known to the world, what would that do to the image of Al Qaeda? If it hampers their ability to radicalize Muslims, do it yesterday.
September 3rd, 2006 at 6:16 pmOn this site I have seen posts bashing Jews and Christians, but praising Islam.
To me all extermists are bad. Including the Atheistic anti-Religious extermists!
Comment by King Ghidorah
Interesting, please elaborate King — How can one be an atheistic anti-religious extremist?
September 3rd, 2006 at 6:20 pmAren’t you cute. I take it you are Scarface. He came up with the same lame ass type of list, so I will ask you for links, which you won’t provide, so I take it we are done.
BTW: I do appreciate you putting me at the top of your list of people who are Aheist anti-religious IN POWER. Can you tell me what I run. I want some money.

I’m thinking Jamal has a sockpuppet…
We went thru this yesterday. Isaa is Jesus [Isouv] and Sulieman is Solomon [Sulayaman] and all three of these ‘Ideologies’ are in effect ‘Abrahamic’.

September 3rd, 2006 at 6:27 pmI couldn’t stop laughing at Rumsfeld’s comment. If Bush had been president when Hitler had to be stopped, he would have attacked Spain with only the Polish as allies.

Jeex sudo freeper extremists [Kagan Ghidorah and Simjay], you should get to know your material before you go regurgitating your latest freeper Fax;

September 3rd, 2006 at 6:39 pmOooo, Spongebob, how original. We are messing with people’s names now. Okay, you are now King Shit for Brains.
Scarface is the name you used in this thread before or your talking points are showing and you are repeating what another winger said ealier. Try to be more original.
Howard Stern is Jewish and talks about being Jewish constantly. Apparently you have never heard him talk.
Sorry, Jewish falls under Judeo-Christian. So, He would have to be anti-himself. Doesn’t seem likely.
You are pathetic. Try again.
September 3rd, 2006 at 6:40 pmAllah means the God. The God of Israel had a name. It was Yahweh Elohim.
Yahweh is not the only GOD of the Jewish people, I suppose you forget the Lemba tribe?
Old maps of the Holy Land have now revealed that there was a place called Lemba way back BCE
September 3rd, 2006 at 6:40 pm1) We believe in only one God Nwali.
‘God’ has over 350 names King Ghidorah.
In fact, if you read your scriptures you will find that GOD has no name, and hes says so.
You can’t know his name until you know his face.
September 3rd, 2006 at 6:42 pmThat doesn’t change the fact Mohamad was a pedophile!
Comment by Porky Pig — September 3, 2006 @ 6:37 pm
I’ve got news for you Herodetus.
EVERYONE was a pedophile back then by modern day standards. Or were you not aware that the average age of marriage for a Jewish girl 30 CE was 13, with many marrying as early as 9?
Idiot.
September 3rd, 2006 at 6:43 pmTrinary Sockpuppet,
The democrats are without sin, right?
Comment by King Ghidorah
Are you?
September 3rd, 2006 at 6:43 pmI have not defended any sinful democrats, nor do I copnsider myself one, they are however less corrupt than the GOP.
Now if you would like to post some democratic pedophiles, beside baseless rhetoric, then I will gladly agree with you.
September 3rd, 2006 at 6:45 pmGood luck with that one. This guy is like your drunk republican uncle at a family BBQ.

LoL Spudge
Looks like the topic of this thread has the trolls worried.
Apparently they can’t name anyone that believes terrorists can be appeased, either.
September 3rd, 2006 at 6:51 pm“You guys are desperately afraid that we aren’t afraid”
Does this even make sense?
Scarface, put own the meth pipe. Step back inside the double wide. Take a deep breath.
September 3rd, 2006 at 6:58 pmI share the view of Scarface at 7. My hope is that he and I may meet some day at a Constitutional Convention wherein the USA loses the red states into their own right-wing theocratic-lite republic, and stops dragging the economic, cultural and social life of the USA down. Why New York City and Maryland and Seatte have to keep subsidizing the underdeveloped states of the former Confederacy decade after decade with progressive taxation and southern-fried Congressional pork (interstates connecting towns with no stoplights, military bases placed to featherbed a local backward economy, etc) is beyond me.
See ya then, Scar.
September 3rd, 2006 at 7:03 pmThis is their core fear…all their belief falls apart at their feet…
Comment by dixie blood
Dixie, you always know the right thing to say. :)
September 3rd, 2006 at 7:17 pmOkay Goebbels. Your Jedi mind trick won’t work here. Saying Howard Stern is an Athiest neither makes it more true or means that he said it. Going by what you say, you aren’t a fan nor do you listen to him, so how the hell would you know. Somebody on Fox said it. Hmmm, I will take Howards word on that.
September 3rd, 2006 at 7:25 pmYes it was and it is also the name taken by a troll who talks exactly like you do. Just like Steppford wives, you guys are all exactly the same.
September 3rd, 2006 at 7:26 pmFirst:
Then:
I am confused, is he saying his is a lefty?
September 3rd, 2006 at 7:28 pmHoward Stern said it in an interview.
He probably said the same thing I did:
“Organized religion is the work of the devil.”
That doesn’t make me an athiest dumb ass.
September 3rd, 2006 at 7:29 pmNo, we go to Football Blogs to argue about that.
September 3rd, 2006 at 7:30 pm#48, Spudge Boy, minor inaccuracy. The Enigma machine wasn’t ‘made’ by IBM, unless you mean ‘manufactured by’. The original inventor[in Dutch] was either H.A. Koch or T.A. van Hengel/R.P.C. Spengler. Roughly translated, Koch was the person who acquired the patent in 1919, the other two had developed a similar machine in 1915 for the Dutch Navy. Supposing that Van Hengel and Spengler had developed the machine, they let Koch patent it so it could be sold commercially and they would not be persecuted for selling on state secrets.
The commercial venture wasn’t a big success and the patent was sold in 1928 to the German Arthur Scherbius, who sold the apparatus to the German armies. In the 1930’s the Polish made several clones based on the original patent, some of which were transported to France and from there to England. [Maarten van Rossem’s, “Heeft Geschiedenis Nut?”] The very first German Enigma (e.g. not a replica) was retrieved by the British in February 1940, from the submarine U-33. In 2000, the American movie ‘U-571′ caused quite a stir when they tried to ascribe the effort to US soldiers.
Spudge Boy, sorry for the references of the sources being in Dutch. Can’t help being bilingual.
September 3rd, 2006 at 7:33 pmWas this thread about Lizzie Dole or not? This has been seriously hijacked.
September 3rd, 2006 at 7:34 pmSeems to me that it’s the republicans who are more than willing to give up our freedom and and give up all that America was and is. This gang wets their pants and invades the wrong country because they’re threatened. Says they’ll give up all of their freedom and liberty because they’re uneasy. Bunch of pants wetting surrender monkeys. Give me liberty or give me death. Not for the republicans. They all crawl under the bed and sell out their civil liberties.
September 3rd, 2006 at 7:34 pmYou guys are a bunch of isolated elitists morons!
Comment by King Ghidorah — September 3, 2006 @ 7:11 pm
Elite is a relative term.
For example, almost anyone who could form a coherent sentence compared to you might appear to be “elite”.
September 3rd, 2006 at 7:36 pmOh, one more thing. Why do the republicans hate America so much they’re willing to toss out the Constitution and the Bill of Rights and turn it into a theocracy run by a king? Please, someone, help. Give me back my country.
September 3rd, 2006 at 7:37 pmBut I hate the holier than thou Lefty Atheists and their Islamic buddies!
Comment by King Ghidorah — September 3, 2006 @ 7:35 pm
The pews in churches across America are made up of both republicans and democrats and everything in between.
Only a fool would equate Atheism with Liberalism.
September 3rd, 2006 at 7:37 pmThe same thing happened to Tony Blankley the other day. His response was, “Oh, well I don’t have my notes in front of me.” This is something the press nor the Dems. have done, is to immediately challenge this clowns, when they spew their outlandish, venomous talking points.
September 3rd, 2006 at 7:39 pmThey have banked on being able to get away with saying their talking points, in unison, and framing the debate.
Which comes from Stalinist/Castroite/Maoist/Nazi ideology!
Comment by King Ghidorah
Damn, read a book, would you?

People that used to get beat up in HS. You

September 3rd, 2006 at 7:50 pmthe left is powerful in this country.
The NY Times, LA Times, Washington Post, Newsweek, Time Magazin, CBS, NBC, ABC, George Soros’s Media Matters, MSNBC, Hollywood, Bill Gates.
Comeone you guys have a very powerful propaganda machine. Whatever the right has done is in emulation of the left.
Comment by NFL Guy — September 3, 2006 @ 7:47 pm
Really? All those are “leftist” controlled?
Then why is ABC airing a right wing propoganda film this week blaming 911 on Clinton?
Start by answering that one and we’ll go on to the rest.
September 3rd, 2006 at 7:51 pmYou think any retard that comes here spews the same crap as you.
September 3rd, 2006 at 7:53 pmI have a life and part of it is spreading the word about the right’s lies. I don’t want another 2 years of Bush. He has broken the law many times and needs to be impeached for it. As an American citizen you should want the same thing, whether right or left, just like me.
September 3rd, 2006 at 7:55 pmOh and by the way helmet head, if all those stations are “leftist controlled” as you state, then why did NBC, ABC and CBS all refuse to air Farenheit 911?
Seems like if they were so “leftist controlled” that ONE of them might have got that one on the air by now.
September 3rd, 2006 at 7:55 pmI am not a leftest, nor am I a democrat. I believe Bill and Hillary are just as evil as your man Bush. They are all part of the Carlyle group.
September 3rd, 2006 at 7:56 pmWORFEUS,
Did you see it yet?
Oh my god one anti-Clinton film.
What about all the Leftists news reporting?
I blame Clinton and Bush for 9/11.
Unlike you I’m not ideologically blind!
Comment by King Ghidorah — September 3, 2006 @ 7:54 pm
Perhaps not. But you’re definately grammatically and coherently challenged.
I have no idea what point, if any you were trying to make by these last 5 incoherent sentences.
Please elaborate.
September 3rd, 2006 at 7:58 pmIs Mike Wallace still on the air?
September 3rd, 2006 at 7:58 pmI always make sense, but since you decided to come on here and start attacking everybody as being lefty whackos, you never found out anything about us. You assumed you knew us or anything about us. Start with an attack, get an atttack back.
September 3rd, 2006 at 8:00 pmThis is what I am talking about. WORFEUS has the same views for the most part that I do.
September 3rd, 2006 at 8:02 pmYes, and I happen to know that Bush and Kerry are cousins as well.
September 3rd, 2006 at 8:02 pmI don’t hate the left and neither does he. I don’t hate the right either. My mom and dad are righties. We realize that there isn’t really blue and red in Washington, it is more of a purple color.
September 3rd, 2006 at 8:04 pmKing Ghidorah definitely has at least one of his heads firmly up his kiester.
September 3rd, 2006 at 8:05 pmWorfues,
All you do is praise the Democrats and Bash Republicans. ,,,. You on the other hand worship the Dems like they’re God and belive any Leftists propaganda.
Comment by King Ghidorah — September 3, 2006 @ 8:01 pm
Like Spudge said, you need to put down the cue cards.
I’m NOT a Democrat slappy.
September 3rd, 2006 at 8:07 pmAnd like Spudge my family is republican and I myself was a republican for about 20 years.
September 3rd, 2006 at 8:09 pmNow I tend to think of myself as a Cheeseburgerian, with a little bit of Budweiserian tossed into the mix.
September 3rd, 2006 at 8:11 pmThe only way there was a posting on this site praising Hezbollah, would be a right winger pretending to be one of us saying we were praizing them. There isn’t one single person that posts here that thinks terrorists or terrorist organizations are good. We don’t like them. We understand how they are created. If knowing how terrorists are created makes you a sympathizer, then there is something flawed in that thinking.
I highly doubt there is anybody here that will sit in a tree to save a park or will stand in front of a bulldozer to keep something from getting squashed. There are liberals who do that stuff. We are progressives that are down the middle of the road. Of course, I don’t speak for everybody here. There are lots of different people with different views. There are even some tolerable right wingers that come by from time to time.
Long story short: Terrorists are bad.
September 3rd, 2006 at 8:12 pmgood job, king ghidorah…
please continue to waste your energy demonizing roughly 10% of the american population (atheists).
now if you’ll excuse me, i have the annual muslim-atheist friendship dinner to attend. because muslims really love atheists. it’s right there in the koran, after “hate them for their freedoms”.
incidentally, the old testament first refers to the name of god as elohim — which means “the gods” (strange, eh?). shortly thereafter it changes to yahweh, which means “i am”. only twice does “yahweh elohim” appear (”i am the gods”?). theologists believe this is just part of the transition from polytheistic beliefs to a monotheistic belief — a necessity if writers of a religious text were to consolidate the pantheon of gods of various attributes into one omnipotent, all-powerful supreme being.
i’m sorry, does that evidentiary and reasoned approach kill the magic of the lord for you?
just remember, guns don’t kill people, god does.
September 3rd, 2006 at 8:13 pmTerrorists suck.
Suck big ones.

Indeed.
In fact, if we are to believe Moses and the First book of the Torah, we will find the following;
Who is the “US” and the “OUR” that God’s referring to?
