ABC’s planned docudrama The Path to 9/11 contains numerous inaccuracies and misrepresentations. Here’s another one.
On the second night of Path to 9/11, a CIA analyst makes the following complaint:
Besides, ever since the Washington Post disclosed that we intercepted his calls, UBL [Usama bin Laden] stopped using phones altogether. He’s using couriers now, like they did a thousand years ago.
This isn’t true on a number of levels. First, as Daniel Benjamin makes clear, the publication at issue is the Washington Times:
Here’s what happened: On Aug. 21, 1998, the Washington Times, the capital’s unabashedly conservative newspaper, which regularly breaks more intelligence-related stories than any other daily, ran an article saying that Bin Laden “keeps in touch with the world via computers and satellite phones.” This occurred less than two weeks after the destruction of the U.S. embassies in Nairobi and Dar es Salaam by al-Qaida and the day after the United States had bombed al-Qaida targets in Afghanistan and Sudan. After that report, Bin Laden stopped using his phone and let his aides do the calling. This story is recounted in both The Age of Sacred Terror (2002), which I co-wrote with my National Security Council colleague Steven Simon, and the 9/11 Commission Report.
Not only is the scene inconsistent with the 9/11 commission report, it’s perpetuating an urban myth. Actually, “Bin Laden’s use of a satellite phone had already been widely reported by August 1998, and he stopped using it within days of a cruise missile attack on his training camps in Afghanistan.”
Why was it included anyway? One explanation: it is frequently cited by right-wing politicians “seeking to impose greater restrictions on the news media.” This is a film that doesn’t let the facts get in the way of its agenda.
Think Progress! Stop trying to confuse the issue with facts! They’re trying to run a major PR offensive here! Jeebus…
/sarcasm off
September 5th, 2006 at 3:20 pmWell, with all the choices we have today on cable and satellite TV, why bother watching ABC at all? Just don’t tune to any ABC station for anything. It will be amazing free entertainment to watch their ratings plummet and what advertisers they have scramble to other networks.
We can cost them millions or even billions if we all just stop watching ABC.
Let them know this: NO MORE LIES!
September 5th, 2006 at 3:23 pmSorry that I don’t have more friends that would sign.
September 5th, 2006 at 3:23 pmPure propoganda is what it sounds like. I want to be proud of America, so sad.
ABC, along with their holding company, sucks, plain and simple
September 5th, 2006 at 3:24 pmwho cares? like anyone watches tv anymore.
September 5th, 2006 at 3:28 pmIt is that simple, ABC will suffer greatly in ratings from this, maybe they could hire Joe Leiberman as a commentary to help them out.
Naw, they will need more help to self destruct, Joe can’t even do that right.
Perhaps they could join forces with Fox News and the White House, they have no rating problems, right?
September 5th, 2006 at 3:34 pmHeck, if conservatives can get CBS to pull an unflattering show on Reagan, it’s the least we can do to get ABC to pull this piece of right-wing propaganda.
September 5th, 2006 at 3:36 pmPerhaps ABC/Disney thought they a could sell a 911 Fantasia because creating ‘fantasyland’ is ALL the Bush administration does day in and day out.
Bastards !
September 5th, 2006 at 3:37 pmBoy, Disney has taken Mickey Mouse to a whole new level.
President Goofy supports it, Porky Rove wrote it, Duck Rumsfeld proofed it, & Minnie Rice is still trying to find words that work to describe it.
Now that 9/11 has become another Disney fairytale, we need to look closer at how revisionism works…didn’t the Nazis specialize in this? With the Reichwing ready to launch Rudi baby as the next dictator, we all need to take a deep breath & vote in November.
September 5th, 2006 at 3:39 pmMangling facts, glaring inaccuracies and misrepresentations.
ABC is trying hard to be Fox Network.
Not that I watch them anymore at all
“TV? Oh, that thing I watch DVDs on now and then…..”
September 5th, 2006 at 3:41 pmJudd,
September 5th, 2006 at 3:43 pmMaybe you should provide the link to Tell ABC at the bottom of this thread?
Some people may not have seen your first thread.
Can anyone find a definitive list of the 9/11 commission members with contact info?? I tried called my Sen (Lugar, you can never find Bayh) to get info for Roemer & Hamilton. They need to step and stop this shit.
September 5th, 2006 at 3:46 pmIt is uncanny how like the Nazis this is, particularly after what Rumsfeld said about appeasing. This is basically like allowing Riefenstahl’s Triumph of the Will to be broadcast. Also, if you hate Ann Coulter like I do, check out my piece on the ho-bag.
September 5th, 2006 at 3:46 pmABC appears to be jealous of Fox News so they’re trying to imitate them. It’s a big joke whenever anyone talks about the “liberal” media.
September 5th, 2006 at 3:47 pmI think it would be more productive if everyone commenting here sent a letter to ABC and your local affiliate. It does not matter whether YOU watch ABC or believe this propaganda. The problem and bigger issue is the millions of people who will watch it and believe it is factual documentary. If right wing nuts could get CBS to pull the Ronald Reagan miniseries, we ought to learn from THAT lesson and apply a full-court press on this issue.
September 5th, 2006 at 3:54 pmI wrote Dan Froomkin at WaPo and linked him to this post. He’s probably the best MSM hope we have to take this up quickly (now that WaPo has been smeared as well).
September 5th, 2006 at 3:55 pmthe thought police at TP are censoring this sight.
September 5th, 2006 at 3:57 pmSounds more and more like this piece of shit was written by Rove.
September 5th, 2006 at 3:59 pmThe neocon movement has jumped the shark.

September 5th, 2006 at 4:09 pmWhy does ABC hate our freedom?
September 5th, 2006 at 4:10 pmI emailed abc and let them know that if they go forward with this, I will contact my cable company abd have their station blocked.
September 5th, 2006 at 4:11 pmBe right back, got to go take a W.Rove.
September 5th, 2006 at 4:14 pmDM-
Are you sure?
Giving jobs away?
Taking medication away from old people?
Controlling gas prices on a whim?
Polluting our children’s skies?
Destroying our children’s lands?
Giving money to Iraq while the middle class works more and earns less?
Spying on us?
Scaring us with lies? Confusing us with lies?
Playing guitar while peole drowned?
Are you sure they jumped the shark? What about our freedom? Huh? What about freedom? After all, Bush says it best:
Freedom is on the march
Expand freedom in all the world
Force of human freedom
Expansion of freedom
When freedom came under attack
Freedom will find a way
God has implanted the desire for freedom
George W. Bush Freedom Heroes Cards
Operation Freedom
Freedom Fries
Freedom is God’s gift
Freedom is at war with fear
Fire of Freedom
Champions of freedom
The New Freedom Initiative
Vets for freedom
Crusade for freedom
New Freedom Commission on Mental Health
Freedom Coalition
Freedom isn’t free
Freedom will be defended
You’re not free if you’re dead
Freedom was attacked
Demand freedom
It’s about freedom
Medal of Freedom
Ought to be limits to freedom
Freedom fuel initiative
Freedom to manage
Freedom doctrine
USA freedom corps
Operation Iraqi Freedom
Freedom agenda
They hate our freedoms
Yeah, they jumped the shark. And now they’re gonna hide it with more propaganda and more lies and death.

Sent to KOMO (Seattle) just now.
September 5th, 2006 at 4:27 pmI am appalled at ABC’s decision to air without sponsors the phony right wing docu”drama” about 9/11. The decision of ABC to disseminate this to schools is abhorrent.
Just wanted to let you know my V-chip will be tuning KOMO out. Permanently, or until ABC discloses its source of funding for this free giveaway for Bush and Co.
I wrote an email to ABC News… be interesting to see what they say (if anything). I told them if they ran with these lies they should change their name to FoxBC or ABC enquirer so we could tell from a distance who the real news agencies are…. ROFL
September 5th, 2006 at 4:35 pmGeorge Mitchell is Chairman of the Board at parent Disney. He can be reached at his law firm, let him know that this is pretty lousy to condone for a ratings:
george.mitchell@dlapiper.com
September 5th, 2006 at 4:41 pmThis documdrama sounds to be about as realistic as Desperate Housewives and as convoluted as Lost. I pretty much gave up on regularly watching the major networks a few years ago, and when I look at things like this I don’t regret it for a single moment.
September 5th, 2006 at 4:45 pmThis farce confuses the Wash. Post with the Wash. Times? I’ll admit I get upset with the Post for occassionally carrying the water for this White House, but the Wash. Times’s full time mission is to carry the water for Bush and friends. If this farce confuses these two papers, how can anyone trust it on anything?
September 5th, 2006 at 4:46 pmHey, if I missed the partridge sitting on the rail of my deck four times, I’d bitch about the gun too.
September 5th, 2006 at 4:49 pmrepost from the other thread…
Took the trolls a while to get their talking points today. Congress coming back off their booze cruise and all. Must have tied up the fax machines all over the Hill.
Get the word out about this to everyone you know. This ‘But Clinton…’ bull honkey has to go. Sure, Clinton may or may not have done all he could, but 9/11 happened in Bush’s first term. To present the facts as otherwise is not only socially damaging, but presents the wrong image to the world about how we view accountability and responsibility.
Don’t let the trolls sidetrack you:
This is NOT about what we liberals/progressives feel is the ‘correct’ truth. This is about an obviously slanted viewpoint of the events of a pivotal point in history being shown FREE to the public, when other films of the same nature were not given the same courtesy. This is not about Michael Moore’s film, this IS about students who are within a few months of being voting age getting shoveled deliberate propaganda under the guise of education.
THis is NOT a partisan issue. This is against ideals and rules that EVERY American should stand for. Stop towing your goddamn party line and help us bring the people responsible for this brazen act to justice. If you love America as much as you claim you do, then get in here and help the people fight against the clear and present dangers to our livelyhood HERE AT HOME.
Some of you people make me sick. The rest of you, keep fighting the good fight. I’m writing letters and sending emails as we speak.
September 5th, 2006 at 5:01 pmAs much as like Harvey Keitel, I will not see this movie and will avoid all future movies with Keitel. As good as he is, this “stunt” should end his career.
September 5th, 2006 at 5:03 pmDoes anyone know who to complain to at Disney (ABC’s corp parent) and what companies are airing commercial spots?
September 5th, 2006 at 5:07 pmTONY BLAIR TO LEAVE 31ST MARCH NEXT YEAR
BYE BYE PUPPET – GEORGE BUSH NEXT – Yee Haaaaaaaa
September 5th, 2006 at 5:09 pmMy local ABC affiliate actually shows the 700 Club during the day. What does this bias tell you about ABC’s political agenda? Time to boycott ABC and any advertiser (contact then to tell them why) that uses their network.
September 5th, 2006 at 5:22 pmThank you for bringing all this nonsense to light. ABC ought to be ashamed of itself. I wrote them this morning.
By the way–just to be fussy–the term I think you’re seeking is “urban legend,” not urban myth. See, e.g., http://www.janbrunvand.com/faq.html.
September 5th, 2006 at 5:40 pmWith this weekend’s upcoming mockumentary “The Path to 9/11,” Disney and ABC are breaking dangerous new ground in the conservative propaganda war. Even as the ABC network follows in the footsteps of Mel Gibson and The Passion of the Christ in “mobilizing the base,” ABC News on Sunday declared Robert Greenwald’s new documentary “Iraq for Sale: The War Profiteers” a left-wing hatchet job “produced like a political campaign.”
For the details, see:
September 5th, 2006 at 6:05 pm“ABC Slams New Iraq Documentary, Ignores Own 9/11 Right-Wing Fantasy.”
The truth is that PNAC had a wonderful day on 9/11.
September 5th, 2006 at 6:15 pmDoesn’t Saudi Arabia’s Royal Family Owns a big chunk of Disney / ABC?
‘Nuff Said
September 5th, 2006 at 6:23 pm#40 Does that mean they’ll be editing this in the same office they use to edit all of UBL’s tapes? The mind boggles.
September 5th, 2006 at 6:25 pmwhy is ABC covering for The Moonies????
September 5th, 2006 at 6:29 pmMyth is reality for the right. Myth is what Limbaugh feeds them three hours a day, five days a week for the last 16 years. Conservatives live a myth.
Is this spin-u-mentary going to show Rummy finding WMD? Near Tikrit?
The Washington Times is the backbone of the right.
Moon is their savior.
Moon’s money that funded the right.
September 5th, 2006 at 6:52 pmUnderstand the right knows how they control their cult’s minds. They know by the time this show is completely debunked it will already be embedded into the wingnuts minds.
This all about mind control.
September 5th, 2006 at 7:06 pm
libel
September 5th, 2006 at 7:17 pmWish it was as simple as that. We all watched as Limbaugh fed half the country bullshit for 15 years while we all “thought” no one would buy his BS. We were wrong and now we have half a nation under a form of control, information control. The right only believes what they are told to accept by people like Limbaugh, FOX and the Washington Times. Information Control is huge in mind control.
We already have a huge national security problem in that these people live in an alternate reality. This show will only deepen the control they have over them by perpetuating myths.
As controlled as they are, they are still our fellow Americans and together this is our nation.
Ignore it like we did Limbaugh and the talk radio horror and continue to watch the nation slide into hell.
September 5th, 2006 at 7:20 pmMake no mistake, this is all part of the apeasement and you can’t trust liberals frame.
September 5th, 2006 at 7:24 pmWe must contact our local ABC affiliates and insist that they not carry this programming. Particularly if you live in progressive areas such as San Francisco, New York, Seattle, and other Blue areas throughout the country. We must put the pressure on ABC by not only talking directly to them, but to our affiliates as well. Our locals stations must let corporate know that they will not show this program.
September 5th, 2006 at 7:26 pmrjp
Nate: “appeasement”
what is liberal’s frame?
September 5th, 2006 at 7:29 pmIs this in the movie?
RICE: I remember very well that the president was aware that there were issues inside the United States. He talked to people about this. But I don’t remember the al Qaeda cells as being something that we were told we needed to do something about.
BEN-VENISTE: Isn’t it a fact, Dr. Rice, that the August 6 PDB warned against possible attacks in this country? And I ask you whether you recall the title of that PDB?
RICE: I believe the title was, “Bin Laden Determined to Attack Inside the United States.”
Now, the…
BEN-VENISTE: Thank you
September 5th, 2006 at 7:40 pmnate,
appeasement?
you must be referring to donald rumsfeld’s visit to saddam on behalf of the reagan administration in the 80s.
September 5th, 2006 at 7:52 pmDid you know that on 9/11, Fearlerss Leader sent Air Force One off to Nebraska as a decoy. He was following fearlessly behind, piloting an F-16, and he shot down 19 Islamo-Fascist MIGs, but the liberal media never reported it, see. But don’t worry. There will be a Docudrama with cool music and special effects and everything on ABC one week before the mid-term elections. It will be titled “9/11 Mission Accomplished”.
September 5th, 2006 at 7:56 pmI am not surprised by any TV trash any more. The only ones who seem to be reporting the truth are Keith Olberman, John Stewart and Steven Colbert. It’s too bad that those of us who lean left must be made to feel sub-human.
September 5th, 2006 at 8:41 pm1. Disney/ABC is HQed in Florida
2. Jeb Bush (the Presidents brother) is the Governor of Florida
September 5th, 2006 at 9:00 pmIn addition to the WashTimes publishing that fact, bin Laden had to have known that using a satphone was a risk, ever since Russia assassinated Dzhokhar Dudayev, the Chechen leader, by homing in on his satphone signal. That was in 1996.
September 5th, 2006 at 10:50 pm[...] To hell with ABC and their phony baloney 9/11 tv movie. We really don’t need outright LIES muddying the waters as we approach the sadly politically volatile fifth anniversary of the attacks, and we encourage you to let ABC know that we ain’t down with it. [...]
September 5th, 2006 at 10:57 pmIf anyone wants to take more action I’ve listed a number of ABC advertisers with their contact info at my blog
Cheers,
September 5th, 2006 at 11:13 pmI havent been able to read every post thats been made on this page…. Has any mentioned thus far that this show will be “uninterrupted” that means no commericals. Just thought some people might want to think about that while in there parents basement.
September 6th, 2006 at 12:50 ami mentioned it on one of the eight other threads on this subject, addingcolor — abc is airing this program without commercials so nielson won’t be monitoring it.
jeez, eight threads. can anyone say ‘free publicity’?
September 6th, 2006 at 12:57 amI will be glad when next Monday is over, since the nation will be vulnerable to real terrorists while the Bush lovers are watching fiction on ABC!
September 6th, 2006 at 1:48 amHow do you have the gull to tell lies like that? All you are doing is showing what you’er made of,to the American people,LIARS.You’ll have your seat in Hell.I won’t be tuning in to ABC,thats for sure.
September 6th, 2006 at 2:25 amThe GOP motto, “Spend it like it’s stolen and lie like you’ll never get caught!” It has worked for them so far.
September 6th, 2006 at 3:00 amI hope that ABC mentions the large Jewish involvement.
September 6th, 2006 at 6:22 amSo, why do I hear no talk about an organized boycott of ABC? I sent the network my indignant comments last week, but received the same response as the poster up-thread. Emails alone will not get this done.
September 6th, 2006 at 6:44 amthe path to 9/11…
the most interesting thing i see about this whole path to 9/11 miniseries controversy ……
September 6th, 2006 at 10:10 amYou know the whole thing is suspect when ABC lies in the second sentence of the “About the Show” description on the website: ‘The 9/11 Commission was formed to determine how such an attack could happen, and its report documents the trail from the 1993 World Trade Center bombing to the tragedy of that autumn morning.’ According to my calendar, autumn (the equinox) began on the 22nd of Septmeber that year.
September 6th, 2006 at 12:22 pm9/11 Conspiracy
Here are some 9/11 conspiracy videos. The first is a link to a full-length documentary called “Loose Change” (click on the link and follow the link to the video):

September 6th, 2006 at 12:41 pmCrap! I’m already boycotting Wal-Mart and Exxon-Mobil and now I’m going to have to add ABC to the list. Not so hard to do since I don’t own a TV, but I had been planning to go to a friend’s house to watch the Longhorns play the Buckeyes this Saturday. So much for that.
September 6th, 2006 at 3:58 pmTHINK AGAIN ABC, The Bush Administration has rarely been asked to tell the truth about their misrepresentations and lies on the runup to the Irag occupation. I have read some of the passages from your Special Mini Series concerning this country’s policies and actions over the last 10 years with regards to Osama Bin Laden, Al Queda, and world terrorism. If you give validity to these false claims, our country will be more in jeopardy. The citizens need to be told the truth. The information that too many citiizens and voters recieve by powerful media, such as ABC, needs to be honest and genuine. We need to restore the integrity of the USA. Please do not help to tear it down. Robert Kretchmer, Fort collins, Colorado
September 6th, 2006 at 4:11 pmGolly gee whiz, you mean the right-wing, with all of their holy bejeezus and all, with all of their moral authority and the like, would LIE for political gain??? Tell me it ain’t so!
But seriously, do they EVER tell the truth? I don’t think I’ve ever seen Dumbya dumbass ever give a speech that wasn’t peppered with exageration, omission, and downright lies. The man has a real problem, which is evident to everyone else in the world but those here who’ve drank the kool-aid.
September 6th, 2006 at 4:48 pmHere we go again…The folks at ABC are smoking crack again.
The stupidity ,ignorance, and irresponsibility of this right wing network is overwhelming.
Their feeble propaganda piece will be mass consumed and believed as gospel by the uneducated and the ignorant who cannot differentiate between drama and documentary. ABC must have a deal with the Rush Limbaugh loving CBS network. Both are losers and will continue to lose market share as bloggers hold them accountable.
September 6th, 2006 at 5:23 pmWhy does ABC hate America?
September 6th, 2006 at 7:01 pmIMPEACH-PROSECUTE-EXECUTE
September 6th, 2006 at 8:34 pmThe repugnician slime machine is at it again, spreading the only known repugnican values of HATE, LIES AND GREED. I can only hope a massive boycott of ABC and Disney takes hold; all it takes is to use your parential control of your television controller to permanantly block ABC and Disney channels.
September 6th, 2006 at 11:07 pmBoycott ABC and ABC News! Write ABC News and tell them how this shameful lie discredits its work. Most of all, encourage parents to sign a petition to get Scholastic out of your schools. If Scholastic is going to participate in right-wing propaganda it has no place in the education of our children.
September 6th, 2006 at 11:30 pm[...] MyDD’s Matt Stoller and others have developed Open Letter to ABC, a blog that seeks to persuade ABC to admit its $40 million fictional docudrama “The Path to 9/11″ is filled with inaccuracies. The site traces the source material for the mockumentary back to “an avowed right-wing activist” and Bush administration PR flack John Miller, catalogues a number of significant fabrications, and provides links to sites that promote citizen action. September 7th, 2006 at 1:54 pmBoycott the advertisers of The path to 9/11. Write ABC and let them know that is your intention.
And let the advertisers know, as well you intend to no longer buy their products.
It’s really a shameful thing for any network in this country to take a real historical event such as 9/11 and outright fabricate fantasies about what really happened! This is far too an important event in our nation’s history and a continuing current issue this nation is grappling with..
So, for any network to ‘play’ with the truth, regarding it, is scurrilous and should be legally culpable.
I hope ABC is sued and their advertisers seriously hurt in the pocketbook for this wholly, irresponsible and unpatriotic act of fabrication of facts.
September 7th, 2006 at 3:52 pm[...] It’s an insult, a pity, and an embarassment that ABC insists on airing “The Path to 9/11.” Despite pleas to pull it from Bill Clinton, Harry Reid, and others, Disney president and CEO Robert A. Iger is not backing down ThinkProgress is leading the charge in asking readers to Tell ABC to pull “The Path to 9/11.”. Sheldon Rampton scrutinizingly details fiction in this post. One of the most upsetting twists to this story, is that Scholastic has actually partnered with ABC to present discussion guides and class materials to contribute to the brainwashing of schoolchildren. [...]
September 7th, 2006 at 4:25 pmABC could do much, much better by airing a 9/11 “docudrama” on the controlled demolition aspects of how the towers came down. Or why Silverstein was able to tell FDNY to “pull” building 7 ( and how was that possible without demolition being set up previously)? Or why it is that we had no airplane parts at the Pentagon (and why is it that any other video tapes of the event were “acquired” by the government)?
Why not air a program that illustrates what people are thinking? Or, better yet, WHY CONTINUE TO IGNORE WHAT PEOPLE ARE SAYING?
September 7th, 2006 at 5:23 pmI’m a athiest, union member and social progressive waiting for a Democrat to step up and provide some leadership for the future. Our efforts are being directed at insulating the Clinton Administration while we accuse the Bush Administration of lies, propaganda, and cover-ups. This is a pitiful strategy reserved for losers. Imagine if conservatives had succeeded in banning Farenheit 9/11 from theaters and video stores. Comparisons to Nazi censorship would be widespread. If we succeed in banning this movie from ABC, who will be quilty of censorship. Let it go and focus on providing answers, instead of more questions.
September 7th, 2006 at 5:26 pmMaybe those of us who value honesty and integrity (Democrats and Republicans alike) should vow to turn off ABC during their beloved “ratings week”. I heard this docu-fairy tale is being shown without commercials, so who is paying? Obviously not the usual sponsors. So not watching this one show is not going to hurt as much as the shows that depend on sponsor money. No viewers equals no profit.
September 7th, 2006 at 5:36 pmWhy don’t you let people make up their own minds. Crazy political lackeys like the majority of folks in this blog weren’t crying foul when many inaccuracies were found in Farenheit 9/11. This movie at least has the endorsement of members of the 9/11 committee. The movie may be a farce, it may be accurate, but as an independant, I’m really turned off at the internet blitz, biased retorts, and typical zealous far-left internet political terrorists trying to manipulate this media. The reason the Howard Dean internet disciples will never succeed is that PEOPLE KNOW THAT THIS BLOGGING BLITZ IS CONTRIVED- frankly it offends the casual internet surfer and hurts the democrats credibility on the internet. I do not believe that the majority of fine democrat leaders are served well by this type exposure their party seeks. Please stop this strategy and leave google alone
September 7th, 2006 at 6:35 pmSo have any of you actually seen this docu-DRAMA? Notice that it is not a documentary? How about you wait until you’ve seen it before the whining starts. Oh and by the way there are no sponsors for this movie, they wanted it that way so zealots could not attack them after the fact. Here is a thought, watch it with an open mind just as you would have had others watch F9/11.
September 7th, 2006 at 7:09 pmComment to post #84
This does NOT have the endorsement of the 9/11 committee. ABC news itself had the primary author of the commission report stating that the program had blatant discrepencies with fact.
September 7th, 2006 at 7:11 pmABC/Disney/ESPN has lost my viewer ship. Disneyland? Won’t go there for my next family vacation.
I think America needs a big dose of HOPE. For six years now we have been told (by republicans) to be scared. We sit by and watch our country go to sh*t. Civil rights taken away. The constitution shredded. The rich getting richer while the middle class slips into poverty. Katrina, Dubai purchasing our ports, open borders, illegal wiretapping, Tom Delay, etc… all wrapped up in a bundle of fear of the “terrorists.” As if republicans are somehow the only people who can protect us from terrorists. What a load of crap that is! Oh, don’t forget their “moral values” rhetoric. They don’t want abortion to be illegal. If it does become illegal, how will they get Christians to hate people? I know, gay marriage. Nothing like fear to make Christians hate people, and of course, go vote for those who stir-up the hate. It’s all so sick and twisted. As a Christian myself, I am appalled.
We need hope. Remember how we felt about our country during the Clinton years? We had hope. Hope for good paying jobs. Hope for affordable education. Hope for healthcare. Hope for people who wanted to pull themselves out of poverty. Hope for a clean environment. Hope for our children’s future. Where is our hope now? We are drained financially and emotionally by this administration. We are left with an insane national deficit that grows and looms over our future. Credit card debt is at an all-time high. More people have lost their healthcare. Oil companies are making record profits. Tax cuts for the wealthiest of Americans are being financed by borrowing money from foreign countries. Our sons and daughters, brothers, sisters, and friends are dying in Iraq so that Haliburton can make enormous amounts of money. This has to stop, people. We have to take back our country. We must vote. We need to have hope again in this amazing country we live in.

“However [political parties] may now and then answer popular ends, they are likely in the course of time and things, to become potent engines, by which cunning, ambitious, and unprincipled men will be enabled to subvert the power of the people and to usurp for themselves the reins of government, destroying afterwards the very engines which have lifted them to unjust dominion.”
-George Washington, the Father of our Country

That in it’s essence, is Fascism – ownership of government by an individual, by a group or by any controlling private power.”

It is endorsed by MEMBERS of the 9/11 committee: the AP wrote:
“At the heart of the firestorm is the miniseries’ creator, former New Jersy Gov. Tom Kean, who also co-chaired the federal 9/11 Commission and served as the film’s paid adviser. Kean reportedly admitted that some scenes were made up, and said producers would say so in a statement to viewers before broadcast, the New York Post reported.
Kean defended the miniseries, saying that like the 9/11 Commission Report, it was balanced.
“People in both administrations are not going to be happy if it’s portrayed accurately,†he told the Times.
The Hollywood elite for years has been trying to control the government with a decided liberal edge-if they would have succeeded-by President Roosevelt’s view that would be fascism. If anything, this docudrama is going against that trend.
The funny thing about this blog is that nobody has seen the movie, yet everyone is willing to condemn it purely due to a rabid political hatred for people who do not agree with them -that my friends is more in line with the seeds of fascism than some movie. The only tangble evidence that I see why everyone is willing to discredit this movie is because they called the Washington Times the Washington Post. Oftentimes small things like that are changed to provide a little creative license-or to cover an ass or two. Please do yourselves a favor and watch the movie if you feel a need to challenge it. I will, and I will be the first blogger on this site discrediting it if it is truly as evil as the members of this blog write. The single mindedness and hatred spewing from this site without anybody even seeing the movie is frightening and has really turned me off as a former democrat and current independant.
September 7th, 2006 at 8:07 pmThose who HAVE seen this film have commented on a scene where Clinton is being told over the phone by Sandy Berger, that soldiers have Bin Laden surrounded and wants the OK to bomb. In the film Clinton just “hangs up the phone”. According to those who lived it, that never happened and is so obviously written to make Clinton look like he didn’t give a damn. You consider THAT “a little creative license”?
I was in the USSR before the country broke up. I saw a lot of what we criticized them for, happening here under the current administration, and it scares the hell out of me. It should scare you too! You think re-writing history is OK?
September 7th, 2006 at 9:01 pmCan’t somebody get an injunction to stop this moronic garbage? Bill Clinton should sue them for slander regardless of the “creative license” claim. Sadly, many people watching this won’t even know that it’s full of inaccuracies and misrepresentations. We don’t need more of this right-wing misinformation floating around. ABC is certianly on my sh*t list. Even if I have to give up Boston Legal (sorry, Bill) ABC is no longer on my viewing list.
September 7th, 2006 at 9:21 pmIf Disney gets a few million emails like the one below, maybe they’ll change their minds. Feel free to take my name out and put yours in.

Sir:
A Disney movie about 9/11 showing people doing things they did not do should not be tolerated.
The line, “It’s not a documentary†is a line of crap.
This is a simple case of Disney “feeling the heat†before they “see the light.â€
If Disney shows John Doe doing things that John Doe did not do, I will not go to a Disney movie, or rent a Disney DVD, for two years.

Gail believes that the Washington Post/Washington Times error may in fact bring us to the brink of communism. I have spent time in Poland-and that exaggeration offends me and everyone who’s ever lived under the oppression of a group of people who have decided that its citizens are not bright enough to form their own opinions. That’s what this blog is advocating. Sound bites by Albright, Berger, Lindsey, & former president Clinton are taken as absolute truths. In my experience I have seen President Clinton lie to me the last time he was under such scrutiny-why would I blindly believe him now. He may be right/he may be wrong as I see it. I do see value in watching a movie co-written by the head of the 9/11 commission (and yes, I realize he is a republican-but I am not naive to the point I will blindly take everything in the movie as truthful as well). I will also understand that the movie is a docudrama and understand that it will not be 100% correct. It is frightening that the people on this site advocate banning a movie for fear that it’s not consistent with their beliefs. I read the 9/11 commission report-a report which did not cast a favorable light on the Clinton administration and Berger in particular. I suspect that the only reason this blog didn’t protest this bi-partisan publication is because most of the people on this site chose not to read it-like they will choose not to watch ‘The Path to 9/11′ on ABC this weekend. Why would they? Everything they need to know they can catch in sound bites from the vast far left blogging community. The majority of you on this site should be ashamed of yourselves for wanting to ban a movie, for mindlessly listening to partisan sound bites, and violently objecting to anybody that does not hold your beliefs. Good, strong ideas held by respectable democrats are not helped by this mentality-it only turns off the undecided voters like me. The type of behavior I’ve noticed on the website that is supposed to stand for progress simply elects to sacrifice the myriad of personal beliefs held in this country to a specific ideal held by a few. I don’t understand how many of you can preach progress and advocate censorship, intolerance, and blind faith in a handful of political cronies. The reason the democratic party (A party I have voted for numerous times in the past by the way) loses election after election is not because they don’t have reasonable ideas, but because of the distributive nature of their arguments and the unwillingness to find common ground with anybody who is unwilling to adhere to their own beliefs 100%. Joe Lieberman felt the sting-he’s still trying to pull the far left’s knife out of his back- but he will succeed because he is a rational man, a man of tolerance and understanding. A man that doesn’t believe Stalin and Castro were preceded by calling the Washington Times the Washington Post. I beg of you all to watch the movie, read the 9/11 reports, and form your own opinion-whatever that may be. I will respect that, and you can have the satisfaction of not being a mouthpiece to third party information trickled down from a structured internet attack from political lackeys.
September 7th, 2006 at 11:12 pmHow interesting, coming right before the mid – term elections , and with suspicious confluence of good news marketed by the Bush administration the last couple of weeks !
Wake up America !
Boycott ABC if they dont refuse to air this program !
September 7th, 2006 at 11:27 pmDoes being lied to about weapons of mass destruction offend you Matt? Does outting a CIA agent to further his own desire to go to war offend you? Does letting a city die under the waves while a president plays air guitar offend you? Or is it just a man having an affair that offends you?
Sure people can form their own opinions, but this isn’t written as a “matter of interpretation ” for them to dwell on, these are totally fabricated scenes, things that never happened. Can you not see the difference?
September 7th, 2006 at 11:30 pmMr Iger has turned Disney from “Uncle Walt ” that I grew up with into Joeseph Goebbles propagandy minister. If Mr iger had any sense of The Bill Of Rights he would put a Hitler cross on Mickey Mouse forever. Let’s change Iger’s name to Goebbels!!! MICKEY MOUSE would be unique with an SS brassrd on his arm.
September 8th, 2006 at 12:08 amWere were all you dumbasses when Farenhiet 9/11 came out. Like thats even close to real, half the people on it sued becuz they’re quotes were edited to look bad. If any of you did your own research you would find its common knowledge Clinton could have stopped it all along time ago. He had over 7 chances to take out Bin Laden and chose didnt. He was too busy with banging interns, hiding all his other scandals and surfing the internet’s market wave (and taking credit for it) to worry about terrorism.
September 8th, 2006 at 1:22 amThis has to be one of the most enjoyable blogs I have viewed lately. It never ceases to amaze me of how the Democratic Party can continue on a downward trek to failure. Why don’t instead of complaining, try offering meaningful and rational solutions to your problems. When did it become the left-wing’s responsibility to start censoring TV programs you don’t agree with. Get over it, if you don’t like, don’t watch it, see, problem solved. Just think, only 28 more months of G.W. and then you can honestly see how we felt, having to put up with Slick Willy for 8 full years. The only difference is G.W. will have left this great Nation a better place than what he was left with. Just remember, no attacks on the homeland since 9/11. …..enough said. I’m really looking forward to the ABC docudrama!!!
September 8th, 2006 at 4:26 amGail,
September 8th, 2006 at 8:28 amProbably should drop the CIA leak conspiracy now that it has been revealed that it was Richard Armitage, a Colin Powell associate that had distain for Cheney and Bush for their handling of the war. If you make that point now, it only highlights that some of us are too highly influenced by liberal spin. Here’s a Newsweek article that explains it all http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/14533384/site/newsweek/ (you have to read to the end).
Turn about is fair play huh? I’ve worked in broadcast radio for over 20 years and seen a lot. Michael Moore’s Farenheit is no different than ABC
September 8th, 2006 at 10:21 ams miniseries except that he stalked people on the street with a mic and made convenient edits of their comments AND claimed documentary status of his work. FREEDOM OF SPEECH please.
Thank you John T.! Why is it that the only time censorship is championed by Democrats and the Hollywood elite is when a production reflects badly upon one of their icons? All I have to do to see the political leanings of Hollywood is watch a night of ‘drama’ on television. Every liberal cause in the U.S. is promoted within a framework of ‘fiction’. This is exactly the reason I changed parties — the smug belief that only a Democrat can tell the truth. If ABC buckles under this pressure, shame on them!
September 8th, 2006 at 10:31 amWell, let’s look at it this way. You say its ok to invent scenes that never happened, and then let the people make up their own minds….. so, I’m going to write a docu-drama about my life. I have come to the episode where I am blogging this issue. Matt of course is in it since we have been carrying on a conversation. Here is the script, keep in mind your friends and family will see it, and I’m not letting you see it before it airs:
me: I don’t think its fair to make up situations that never happened and portray them as real.
Matt: You @#)$*@, all Democrats are @#)%)$
me: I’m trying to have a conversation here.
Matt: I should pull a Dick Cheney and shoot you in the face!
me: I just think its fair to let someone view the script before you slander them.
Matt: I’m going to send death rays thru your computer, you’ll never type again! You’re glib and you must be a Jew because Jews caused all the wars in the world!
These things never happened of course, you are quite civil, but according to you, its ok to script them, film them and pass it off to people who don’t know you, as truth…and “let them decide”. What do you think they would decide? Adding the word docu, even if followed by “drama” is purposely intended to give the impression that it is a documentary.
September 8th, 2006 at 10:34 amHmm…that docudrama Gail just created sounds strangely like a Michael Moore ‘interview’:)
September 8th, 2006 at 10:43 amAlso, you can compare F9/11 to this ABC production when a major network shows F9/11 (without commercial interruption) for 2 nights. THAT would be fair play. People had to pay to see F9/11. They will be getting this show free, and when is the last time you ever saw a network show something without a commercial. By the way, the cost to ABC is 40 million dollars.
And as for not having a terror attack since 9/11….does that excuse Bush for letting it happen on his watch? Clinton had been in office one month when the WTC was bombed the first time. ONE MONTH, yet he didn’t point the finger at Bush I and say it was his fault. He did what a true leader does, he went out, without making any John Wayne pronouncements of “dead or alive” and caught the guy. That man is in prison now. And after he caught him, he didn’t spend 1 million dollards of tax payer money to film himself being flown onto an aircraft carrier to stand under a “mission accomplished” sign. He did it quietly and with dignity. Bush had been in office for NINE MONTHS (nine times longer than Clinton), he had been warned by the outgoing administration that his biggest worry would be Bin Laden, in August he was given memos telling him that Bin Laden was planning to fly planes into buildings, but what did he do? He focused on Iraq leaving us open to the biggest attack in US history. So instead of concentrating on getting “the man”, he attacked Iraq, starting the biggest quagmire our country has seen since Viet Nam. As for feeling safer now, I seem to remember Bush say about Bin Laden…”I don’t know where he is, I just don’t think about it much anymore”.
September 8th, 2006 at 10:52 amOMG…I just heard Bill Clinton, when asked about the ABC docudrama, actually say “I just think people should tell the truth”.!!
“Listen to me…I did not sleep with that woman” OOPS!
September 8th, 2006 at 10:55 amFINALLY a worthwhile documentary that will expose clinton and his ilk for what they really are…A bunch of lying, spinless cowards. To the libs…watch it and learn something
September 8th, 2006 at 11:27 amWe feel that this is just another republican plot prior to the coming election, and the sad thing is that many of the ignorant people who still belive sadam was involved with 911 will believe it. We need an accurate portrayal of what really happened. We’re sure you can find plenty of fault with both administrations. One has to wonder what is abc and Disneys motive, or what do they gain from this. We won’t be watching, and will no longer watch abc programing
September 8th, 2006 at 11:46 amThe show does miss some facts – Like US foreign policy under the Clinton Administration was run by the UN, not the US. American Armed forces were asked if they would fire upon US citizen (but on application form by Clinton Admin), UN proposed to put US soldiers on Trial en mass for war crimes if UN disagreed with US foregn policy, US soldiers instructed to remove US flag from the uniform and replace it with UN flag, US soldiers left key heavy armor behind in Somolia because Clinton did not want to appear too aggressive, resulting in the death of US soldiers. Yes the show did miss SEVERAL key FACTS!
September 8th, 2006 at 12:13 pmYOU PEOPLE MAKE ME SICK !!! YOU THINK MICHAEL MOORE GIVES YOU THE TRUTH, AND SAY OH MICHAEL MOORE YOU ARE OUR GOD, FREEDOM OF SPEECH! FREEDOM OF SPEECH! YET WHEN ANOTHER POINT OF VIEW IS PUT OUT …… ITS ALL ABOUT FREEDOM FROM SPEECH…. LETS SHUT UP EVERYONE THAT DOES NOT THINK LIKE US….. THERE POINT OF VIEW IS A LIE WE, THEY ALL LIE IF THEY ARE NOT A ” JACKASS. ” WAKE
September 8th, 2006 at 12:39 pmUP PEOPLE!
only one thing to say…micheal moore, micheal moore, micheal moore..whats up with his b.s. documentary?
September 8th, 2006 at 2:28 pmFinally someone is going to make a movie using the material from the papers that Sandy(the cat burgular)Berger stuffed down his fruit of the looms. If Slick Willy had nothing to hide, why not let the papers stay where they were. It’s about time the truth comes out. Kudos to ABC!!
September 8th, 2006 at 3:55 pmABC is closing most of the doors to public protest on The Path to 9/11 propaganda piece. A most effective vehicle to make yourself heard is to call their large advertisers; such as, car companies or General Foods, and tell the advertisers that you are going to boycott their product if they continue to run advertising on ABC. ABC will hear about this in real time!
September 8th, 2006 at 4:34 pmYes this film lies about the Clinton Administration stopping the capture and /or elimination of OBL on this occassion because it happened on at least 8 mission not just the one portrayed there.
September 8th, 2006 at 4:51 pmABC – Please don’t air this propaganda on 911. I will withhold my money at every turn from Disney, ABC, advertisers, et al. I will spend energy and money to help vote out of office our current legislative leadership – that knows best how to give blessed individuals “Tax Cuts” in time of War.
September 8th, 2006 at 5:03 pmWhy would an admittedly liberal station like ABC air something against liberals? Kinda makes you think it’s either not pro-right wing or it’s true.
September 8th, 2006 at 6:13 pmMoore’s flick was given the approval of the 9/11 Commission. This movie has been called out as not factual by members of the 9/11 Commission.
MISINFORMATION IS NOT ENTERTAINMENT.
…one more time…
MISINFORMATION IS NOT ENTERTAINMENT.
no matter how many of you frantic “but but but…michael moore, michael moore!” robots want to declare it otherwise!
September 8th, 2006 at 7:26 pmI am neither Republican or Democrat, but an American who does not want the Government to tell me what I can or cannot watch. Censorship is wrong and un-American no matter how it is disguised! I actually liked President Clinton but this action has me second guessing my convictions.
September 8th, 2006 at 8:39 pmThe Liberals are doing what they do best, Censorship!
It’s a Movie! (And a movie that must have hit a nerve) hehehe
September 8th, 2006 at 8:39 pmFurther, I would be more inclined to stop watching ABC if they do not air this movie in it’s entirety. Something is not right here! Since when do politicians put “gag orders” on mini series? I have seen many movies depicting Presidents such as Kennedy, Bush, Johnson, Nixon, etc., in a suspicious circumstances, with no government intervention. Let us form our own opinions as educated Americans please.
September 8th, 2006 at 8:50 pmIf your network shows thi lie on national TV I will do everything I can to avoid ABC broadcast in the future
September 8th, 2006 at 9:27 pmand encourge my my family and friends to do the same. How could put this lie out, and live with your-selves.
You can be bias one way or the other toward this movie when clinton and Albright are being incriminated but the fact of the matter is that if you DON’T LIKE IT, YOU HAVE THE REMOTE, TURN THE CHANNEL AND YOU DONT HAVE TO WATCH IT!
September 8th, 2006 at 10:09 pmSad day when people try and stop free expression and even sadder when a man who debated the word [strong]Is[/strong] and redefined Oral sex as not having sexual relations with that women while under oath is believed instead of reviled. Clinton was caught in a bold faced lie when it involved nothing more then the embarassment of getting a blow job. If this asshat will lie about that what else will he lie about?
You fair minded people should watch it first before you rip it apart. I mean God forbid your god Bill and hillary Clinton should be painted as less then perfect!
Face facts Walt Disney and ABC are not Pro-Bush the exact opposite is the case.
Its O.k to tear the ass out of the sitting president for anything and everything but not O.K. to do the same to an Impeached Ex President?
People grow up already if you can’t see the two parties Republican or Democrat are cut from the same exact cloth and only differ on some Key issues you are blind.
Defense and abortion thats it.
September 8th, 2006 at 10:33 pmOne other thought it scares me that there is such thing as centrist news that just reports the facts unbiased by a leftwing spin or a rightwing spin.
Just tell me the facts and let me decide.
Have we fallen so far as a country that we can’t see the enormous rift our two party political system has created?
Divide and conquer comes to mind.
I for one don’t trust either party they both suck, they both are corrupt and they both worry more about the party then representing the American people.
September 8th, 2006 at 10:41 pmWhat ABC /Disney will NOT tell you is what really happened. Which is that working through back channels set up by Bush I when he was CIA . GW Bush’s people contacted Bin Laden and asked him to commit a horrendous act of terrrorism in the U.S., so Bush would then have a popular mandate for his conservative agenda. Then Bush’s people did everything possible to thwart any investigation or attempts at prevention from beefing up security at airports even when they had a Presidential Briefing that airports would be under attack to refusing search warrants to experienced FBI agents investigating the 9-11 hi jackers before the attack. What actually occurred was probably the biggest act of treason comitted by government officials since Benedict Arnold.
September 8th, 2006 at 10:56 pmabc has lost me.
September 8th, 2006 at 11:39 pmWE SHOULD EMAIL ABC IF THEY GO FORWARD WE WILL BOYCOTT ABC & affiliats
September 9th, 2006 at 12:47 amPoster 123 If you really believe that tripe its time for you to move to another country, how can you live in a country that you believe would commit such a grevious crime against it’s citizens?
Further more if its capable of such acts then people who speak out against it in any forum including this one would start meeting horrible accidents.
Its really not hard to subpena IP address’s to figure out where you live.
Michael Moore is a perfect example of someone a government would snuff out if it was so evil, when idiots like Michael Moore die in strange accidents I will start worrying.
I believe our government is guilty of lots of devious things but nothing as horrible as murdering 4,000+ of its own people and blaming the Arabs for it.
One thing it has proven over and over is that it needs to destroy tools like OBL, Castro and Saddam when they are done using them and the shelf life is up since over and over they become thorns in our collective sides.
September 9th, 2006 at 1:03 amAug 6, 2006 (AP)— Kevin Barrett believes the U.S government might have destroyed the World Trade Center. Steven Jones is researching what he calls evidence that the twin towers were brought down by explosives detonated inside them, not by hijacked airliners.
These men aren’t uneducated junk scientists: Barrett will teach a class on Islam at the University of Wisconsin this fall, over the protests of more than 60 state legislators. Jones is a tenured physicist at Brigham Young University whose mainstream academic job has made him a hero to conspiracy theorists.
So much for his credibility anything but Islam as the excuse.
September 9th, 2006 at 1:07 amABC please show the Path To 9/11. Don’t cave into censorship. We will no longer support Disney or ABC shows or products or sponsors if you cower and give in. Grow a backbone. Thank you.
September 9th, 2006 at 1:33 amYou Democrats / liberals here make NO sense at all…
Freedom of speech is first and foremost what liberals scream about when it come to porn, hate speech against christians and jews –
Even Michael Moore’s Farenheit 9/11 was held up by liberals with laughter. And THAT had NO documentation behind it.
HOW DARE YOU TRY TO LIMIT THE FREEDOM OF THE PRESS in ANY way!!
It is despicable that senators and congressmen have attempted to strongarm the press into changing an obviously true story. Why would they libs care unless it was true?
Why spend millions of dollars trying to stop a drama on TV? Because they fear the truth.
The former Soviet Union controlled the press in their country with similar tactics, via threats and intimidation.
ABC should boldly show the whole thing uncut, and not cave to these lifelong politicians who have nobody’s agenda but their own in mind!
September 9th, 2006 at 1:44 amI find it distrubing that so many people are making blind comments on somthing they havent even seen yet. If you put the cart before the horse the horse might bite you in the ass.
September 9th, 2006 at 6:43 amPlease tell me why people would not have the ability to turn the television channel to another station and watch something different if they do not like this movie. That’s what I do as an American with that Freedom. What is the fear that is being shown by so many. It is very confusing out how people seem to be indicating a desire for removal of the freedom of speech and a persons ability to create entertainment, which is what this is being advertised as, and limit our ability to view this work if we want to. We do still have that freedom don’t we or did something change recently that I was not aware of? I am astonished at what I am reading at this site from my fellow Americans. Please see this protest for what it truly is.
September 9th, 2006 at 9:03 amPlease, for the sake of honesty and accuracy change or better yet cancel this farce. You can and must do better than this. Unless you have totaly sold out and given up on your principles of fairness etc. You may regain your $40,000,000 but your will loose your credibility as being a trustworthy source of news and information. I would expect this stuff from FOX, but not ABC. You can and have done better. Honor yor standards. thank you for listening.
September 9th, 2006 at 9:20 amABC Playing with Fire
Although I’m a Midwest Catholic not a Southern Baptist, I honored the Southern Baptist boycott of Disney-ABC-Eisner. This was not an easy matter. I have two children 3 ½ and almost 2. I can’t count the times I had to remind family, friends and relatives not to purchase any Disney related products for our family. Still we had to ship or hand back more than two handfuls of gifts to family, friends, coworkers and bosses with a polite explanation of how Disney’s anti-Christian bias forced us to make a stand. I gave up watching my favorite sport, hockey. In particular, watching Detroit Red Wing playoff hockey on ABC and ESPN. My wife was often forced to go that extra mile sometimes purchasing an inferior product be it at Wal-mart or Target in order to avoid Disney products. We even cheered when the Winnie-the-Pooh estate filed suit to separate from Disney. Hoping that if the estate won I could share one of my favorite childhood stories with my children too. Unfortunately, the suit failed to wrestle Pooh, Roo, Tiger, Eeyore, and Piglet from Disney.
With the parting of Michael Eisner, the very hour in fact, I called my wife and said I think it’s time to end the Boycott of Disney. It must have been the same week that I heard the Southern Baptist were ending their boycott of Disney. It seems we were both rationally acting in concert. I had purchased a Winnie-the-Pooh DVD and my little ones entered ‘honey’ and ‘bounce’ into their vocabulary that week.
But this week I am growing very anxious. If ABC decides to significantly edit or block “The Path to 9/11†I fell I must re-instigate my previous boycott of Disney. I’m from the financial world and know that the previous boycott was not totally ineffective. Disney ‘DIS’ never again made it above the 42 dollar range in 9 years and to this day trades at a 30% discount to that $42 range. I feel they significantly hurt their bottom line with their previous anti-Christian bias. I understand that as a Christian White Conservative Male who votes Republican that Disney hates me. I’m fine with that as long as they don’t say so or act like it.
I would ask ABC to think before they cave into the Liberals. With all the other crap I still have to put up with from ABC, John Stossel being the notable exception, I don’t think that for just once having Liberal Democrats and Conservative Republicans bashed at the same time is too much to ask. And from my reading of “The Path to 9/11†Democrats may be justly getting whacked a little harder but I have no doubt that it is justified. In addition, I think if ABC chooses to run the original cut they may well fine a growing support in the Conservative movement for their product lines. In the near future I’ll have to decide where to take a $2,000-3,000 kid theme park vacation and Disney would do well to remember that the left’s Boycotts are small in nature and largely ineffectual. I don’t think there are many vegan anti-corporate anti-multinational peaceniks with kids who aren’t already boycotting Disney for the oppression of the small world people left. Disney needs to understand it’s future depends on kids and people who have kids. Their target market according to census data is increasing Christian Conservative Republicans families and they would do well to remember it.
September 9th, 2006 at 9:38 amI didn’t see the first thread. Can somene give me contact info for ABC?
September 9th, 2006 at 11:01 amIt’s interesting to see all of the M Moore F/911 lovers whining about a movie that tells the truth about their beloved Clinton Administration. If their is nothing dubious about that administration’s efforts to thwart attacks like 911, why did Sandy Berger have to steal and hide documents from the National Archives in his pants????
September 9th, 2006 at 6:00 pmCome on LIB’s, you are losers, you can’t stand the truth & you can’t win elections!
You always have to ask where’s the money. Obviously, our “media” has become corrupted to the point where they are the worse propaganda machine since the cold war.
The real issue is how stupid people are and how many will believe whatever they see on TV
Boycott all advertisers on ABC!
September 9th, 2006 at 8:04 pmGentlemen, please…
Just calm down. There’s nothing to see here. The teledep production presents goodfacts which supersede nonoperational realfacts. Goodfacts are now operational and must be properly presented as prolefeed to encourage goodthink duckspeak.
Oldthinkers unbellyfeel goodfacts.
September 9th, 2006 at 8:41 pmABC as a corporation must not survive this assault on America; people have to boycott it and Disney until they’re no longer economically viable. After this hijacking of 9/11 so another generation of Republicans can see to it that their corporate overlaords go right on in their deregulating (think cockpit doors), tax-evading, citizenship-renouncing-to-avoid-paying-taxes, company-offshoring,mansion-buying,wage-suppressing,
whoring,coke-snorting, election-buying,lobby-sponsering,anti-patriotic, white-trash ways, then ABC simple needs to be extinguished. I will boycot ABC and its programs, today, tomorrow and forever. Everyone in my family will do likewise. I will strenuously argue for my friends to do the same. Not for a while, not for a few months or even years but forever until Disney and ABC are no longer coroporate entities. ABC is the enemy of America and the truth America desperately needs to fight terrorism. ABC executives would rather lie about 9-11, and have us suffer all that follows because they lied, just so they can go on being obscenely rich rather than let Democrats come to power and tax them their fair share for the good of America.
There can be no reprive, there can be no forgiveness, there can be no time in the future when ABC will be let back into the fold of humanity. We can never let up; we have to grow in power from one person to the next to the next, withholding our money, until ABC is dead and nothing but dead.
IF you do this and I do this and we bring our friends on, then there’s nothing they can do to stop it.
September 9th, 2006 at 8:52 pmi sent this to the local ABC aff in SF. If you’re lazy, (like me) just cut, paste and send. it won’t be read anyway, but someone might notice 50,000 identical emails…or not.
hey. people seem to be really upset about the slant you’ve taken on 9/11. i heard a lot of folks will be emailing you and stuff. there’s even talk of boycotting you and your sponsers. crazy huh? by the way. i’ll be boycotting you and your sponsers…and this is an email.
September 9th, 2006 at 10:16 pmPressuring ABC & its stations: What you should know about the TV Biz. Let ABC know that they should not air Path to 9/11, which rewrites the history of this national tragedy to spin Bush administration irresponsibility. He’s not resolute terror warrior he plays on TV, he’s Rove’s lying mouthpiece who constantly mouths misinformation.
Boycott ABC’s local stations to pressure the network.
Tell the lie. Repeat into corporate media echo chamber. Repeat.
War is peace. No civil liberties preserve our liberty. Poverty is prosperity. Tax cuts are helping the middle class.
Rove / Goebbels keeps cooking this stuff up and Bush speaks it for the pliant media lap dogs.
They’re hoping that the public will fall for it one more time. It’s a long way from polls in the 30’s to winning the midterm elections with 50.5%.
I think they figure if they get to 40% approval, voter suppression and crooked voting machines can fix this election like 2004 was.
Push the boycott: Pressuring ABC & its stations: What you should know about the TV Biz. Let ABC know that they should not air Path to 9/11, which rewrites the history of this national tragedy to spin Bush administration irresponsibility. He’s not resolute terror warrior he plays on TV, there’s plenty of blame for everyone- from Reagan, Bush Sr to now.
September 9th, 2006 at 11:37 pmIt never ceases to amaze me how the libs always miss the point, can’t you people see that it’s all about ratings. Since you libs have made such a fuss about the yet to be seen docudrama, neilsen is predicting a record viewing audience. We really appreciate the hard work that you libs did for us to promote this factual document. This has to be the best 40 million dollar investment that the GOP has made this year. The publicity is going to be great. You guys keep up the good work! You know ABC is a left-wing network, why do you think they would ever make a rational decision now? The last rational choice you guys made was in November of 2000, when a lot of you crossed over to help us right-wingers keep Al(global warming-internet inventor)Gore from abusing our Nations Capital. Once again, we will need your help this November to keep Nancy Pelosi in her status as a want-a-be. Your votes will be greatly appreciated!!!
September 10th, 2006 at 12:36 amFor the past 5 years, Bush & his conservative allies have been milking 9/11 for political gain. That’s a fact. You only need to read his speeches – see how many times he invokes 9/11 – almost always without relevance – when pushing his personal agenda.
September 10th, 2006 at 10:49 amThis abuse worked for years. We ignored the economic failures, the facts about Iraq, the outright lies.
But now – when the American deaths in Iraq have exceeded the deaths caused by Bin Laden – we start to question, doubt, and want a change. Bin Laden is still out there. And we now understand that we were lied to about the reasons for & what fighting in Iraq would entail. And we see how poorly equipped our gov’t and president is to deal with emergencies – like Katrina.
The men and women who died (during 9/11 & because of Iraq) and the thousands of people living without their loved ones deserve better than that.
Because now we know that the real connection between 9/11 & Iraq is that neither had to happen. And the sitting president (and I picture him reading My Pet Goat as the towers fell) should be held accountable.
A whitewashed docudrama supporting a conservative agenda doesn’t do that.
We as Americans deserve the truth. Our children shouldn’t be fed lies and inaccuracies – purported as truth – because Republicans are having trouble getting elected.
Creating a scapegoat & falsifying the truth shouldn’t work & shouldn’t be something we teach our children is acceptable.
I sad That even I am not amazed at the lefts hypocrisy. Where were then Mickael Moore movies libeled and slandered those whose views sane or otherwise put not in line with his. Where were these voices when the Reagan movie was produced? The countless movies that blamed conservatives from eveything from aides to the homeless. I.e.”The Art of War” So what if 90% of this docudrama is fairly accurate, or that Sandy “what are these classified documents doing in my pants “Berger account my be better known if classified docs hadn’t been “accidently destroyed” when he stole..oops borrowed {lmao}them. Will you even dispute Clinton who said Bin Laden was a legal matter? That when he had Bin Laden he did’nt know waht to do with him? But He wasn’t distracted.
September 10th, 2006 at 5:05 pmWell at least Walt Disney would be proud. Why let the facts stand in the way of telling the story the way you think it should have been. If only the rest of the world would just be quiet and let them retell history their way. It’s so much more convenient when it fits into your preconceived narrow world view.
September 10th, 2006 at 6:00 pmEarlier, someone said, “Mangling facts, glaring inaccuracies and misrepresentations. ABC is trying hard to be Fox Network.”
You got it wrong. ABC is trying to be Michael Moore and Al Gore.
September 10th, 2006 at 7:29 pmI love the movie It is ALL FACT YOU LIBERALS ARE THE LIARS!!!!!!!!!!!!!
September 10th, 2006 at 8:02 pmI think the point is that all of us— whether WE agree or disagree have brains and our own opinions. There our Millions of Americans out there who will accept this as TOTAL fact, just as they did with Flight 93, United 93, and every other “WTC” movie. I am not Dem or Rep, but I would like the truth. Everyone should seek the truth through as many avenues as they can find… I personally did not like M Moore, he made SOME good points, but Alex Jones, for example makes alot of others. Alex Jones also introduces well respected chemists and scientists to prove the demolition like bombs and the chemical additives in the trade center to make the steel burn. I keep thinking… if LBJ can order Israel to attack the USS LIBERTY and want it to sunk, killing 34 wounding 171 naval personnel! It was 1967, during the 6day war, and he wanted to blame Egypt. The only problem, there were survivors! Harbor and let it happen to get into the warFDR is said to have known about Pearl . Who is to say that this administration didn’t let 9/11 happen just to start the war??? Let’s face it, we haven’t pursued OBL the way we did Saddam… why?? The american people are watched so closely that WE can see our homes on Google, so don’t tell me that the CIA cant see me picking my nose…. why cant they find him? They dont want to. It is good $$$$$
September 10th, 2006 at 9:54 pmThis movie is powerful…are you guys watching it? Clinton totally messed up guys-I think there should be some major legal action against him- it’s so obvious that President Clinton is responsible for letting 9/11 happen- very eye opening. You guys should really watch it.
September 10th, 2006 at 10:14 pmTotal propaganda. Has neo-nazism written all over it. If anything I think it makes US look bad…. incompetant, and causing conflict elsewhere. We told the Pakistanis took soon about the missiles, they told, then there was shooting, then we were shooting, then the guys who were helping us were shooting. It was a mess. But again it was FICTION!!! the first thing my local news reporter said after the movie was ” you have been watching a FICTIONALIZED ACCOUNT” PLEASE KEEP THAT IN MIND!!!!
I thought the comments on my local ABC’s board were funny… those people had no clue. They are all terrorfied of another attack. That is what they want. Just like Hitler. He blew up the Reichstag in 1933, called it terrorism, took away the people’s rights in order to protect them from the bad guys, then— DICTATOR!!! Dont fall for the propaganda.
September 10th, 2006 at 11:32 pmWhat I think is somewhat ironic, is how everyone has been in such an uproar about The Path To 9/11 being propaganda and filled with falsehoods, yet those same people were out praising Michael Moore for the “truth” he showed the world with his film. (As opposed to a documenary.) It seems the big issue is that The Path To 9/11 might not be all true… yet, clearly Mr. Moore, a master of editing, made a propaganda film, rather than tring to stay as close to the truth as possible. Only after viewing Path, will we know how much or how little it “strayed” from the truth. And likely, as with Moore’s movie, there will be experts on both sides.
So, what I say that the great thing about the USA is that we are free to watch both films and then discuss them. Discuss what was less than truthful. What was factual. And the ramifications of what has happened. It is far better than never having seen either of those films. And, after watching the first half of Path, I am very glad ABC did not cave in to political pressure.
September 11th, 2006 at 2:10 amABC just helped the Terrorist Divide the country more. The lies will create a situation that will last for years. People believe what they see as fact. Admitting that ABC LIED to the American population does not change this. I will not watch ABC until I see this Lie admitted by ABC management and they quit their position at ABC! I feel they helped the Terrorist.
Ralph
September 11th, 2006 at 10:05 amFictionalizing historic events can be fun!
September 11th, 2006 at 11:35 amI find it rather appealing that the liberals are now understanding what us conservatives go through all the time with the media. However, you are not used to getting hit hard, so it is quite frustrating. What you need to understand is that the Clinton administration wasn’t even as close to perfect as you think they were. He had 8-10 chances to get Osama and didn’t have the balls to do it. You liberals think we can just talk to the terrorists and be their buddies, sorry to break it to you, they don’t think like we do. It is about time the world revisited Clinton’s mishaps and understood that the most wanted terrorist should not be alive. However, to make yourselves feel better you will just go on Bush bashing instead of realizing he isn’t the devil and is only trying to protect YOU. Grow up liberals.
September 11th, 2006 at 1:16 pmGeorge Bush hates freedom. If you were free, he wouldn’t be. He committed treason. Luckily for him, you aren’t free.
September 11th, 2006 at 6:25 pmABC has been blocked at my house. No big loss. I came to this site looking for a list of the advertisers that sponsored this piece of crap only to find out that they showed it commercial free. That was pretty smart, I guess they thought, kind of like our politicians do, that I am too lazy or incompetent…that I’ll just let it go. Nope, although we only watche ABC a few hours a week, we’ll just compile a list of the sponsors of those shows and write to tell them how we will no longer be watching ABC or buying their products. I’m sure my business really doesn’t matter one least bit to these folks, but it sure makes me feel better. As far as the comparison between ABC’s little gem and the junk that Michael Moore produces….MOST people know that there is a difference between a docudrama produced by a Network News/Entertainment division and one produced by an ultra liberal producer/director with an agenda. We expect the factual truth from our networks, and know that we’re getting the truth as they see it from directors such as Moore and Stone. So for those of you trying to advance that notion, c’mon, maybe you’re not smarter than that, but the majority of us are :-)
September 11th, 2006 at 7:09 pmThe point is it should not be a Rep vs Dem issue, it should be a little guy vs big guy issue. No matter who is in control, the media will be controlled and manipulated. Events of the world will be manipulated to distract from unfavorable events. Low ratings for the President, start a war, that will make him increase about 10points. Atleast for a little while. When Bush was at his lowest, Israel then invaded Lebanon and battled the Palestinians forming 2 fronts—Bush’s pts rose when Condi went over and a UN res was drafted… hmmmm coincedence???
They are all the same… just make sure that you have as much info from as many different sources as you can… if you trust only Fox, you have only one view, but if you use the net, read books, view documentaries on History/Discovery/TLC, but please notice that international media such as BBC are not censored as the US media and you can learn alot about US stories that they cover that we never hear about!
September 11th, 2006 at 9:09 pmMedia, propoganda, point of view…. Do we really want to thwart the freedom to show a television program? I mean really! When we speak of freedom, speak of civil liberties, speak of constitutional rights, and then make demands that a “dramatic representation,” of historical events are portrayed (or not) through a given lens… well then, what are the ramifications?
Come on guys, I don’t like Bush… but I think people are intelligent, they can draw their own conclusions. And those that will be influenced by a television show, well?
Anyone with half a brain who saw Farenheit 911 knows that this flick was loaded with propoganda, and filtered through a very narrow lens. Was there some truth? I am sure. Should we take it as absolute, as truth? Umm…
My point is, media is media, people have their points of view, which are not shaped by merely a few disputed scenes in a miniseries.
September 12th, 2006 at 2:03 amWow….I did not see this show, but did hear that there was some hype surrounding it!
I think what shocks me most is that “The Terrorist” are winning, they have taken the division in this country and divided it even more, they don’t have to tear us down economically they are doing it socially, “Brother against Brother”
What happened to America? or a better question is……
What can be done to heal America?
Someone has come in and divided it and it wasn’t Bush and it wasn’t Clinton…..
Wow, read the posts and the HATRED!
Cliche I know…..but a Country divided cannot stand!
So I guess we should just all pack up and let Islam and it’s great hate for anyone not like them and let them take over…….
This is one person who is SAD at what you all have perpetuated……..
The solution is not Bush and it isn’t John Kerry or Al Gore, it’s much deeper than that…it’s US! Yes you and me getting rid of the politics and coming together as one NATION or they will have already defeted us!
Conratulations!
The Drifter
September 12th, 2006 at 4:32 pmDrifter,
September 12th, 2006 at 5:46 pmHey, you are right on. The good news is, we will, as a nation, put all the politics behind us. The bad news is, we’ll lose a U.S. city before it happens.
Paul
I was struck by the fact that “the path to 9/11″ was shown commercial free. I can’t remember ever seeing a five hour block of time on a major network without commercial (save the 9/11 news coverage itself).
So if there was no money to be made, why was this shown? I have learned to “follow the money” when attempting to uncover motives. What was the motive of ABC here?
September 12th, 2006 at 8:13 pmThe way I heard it explained was that ABC wanted sponsors, but nobody wanted to buy the spots, because 9/11 is still to sensitive. For example, scene of tower collapsing and people running for their lives in the street – then cut to commercial for Boeing, or GE, or Pepsi (not the best way to try to sell stuff). Sponsors may have also thought, with the controversial subject matter, that it wasn’t worth having Cindy Sheehan and company show up at the HQ and endure all the boycotts everbody has been talking about on this site. Or the Bush adminstration is using US troops to secretly support opium production in Afganistan and using the drug money to fund the movie and replace ABC executives with zombie robots that live off the blood of seniors, poor people, and immigrants.
September 12th, 2006 at 10:51 pmYou cite one thing as being inaccurate, but you use a different article as proof of inaccuracy when the original premise was still true. Why don’t YOU tell the truth for once.
If you would do a little honest research and reporting, you would find that the writer of “The Path to 9/11″ is NOT a right-wing Republican. You liberals SCREAM freedom of the press whenever you want to promote YOUR “side”, but the same is not even allowed for the truth from the other side. WHY is there no such uproar from you for the Assassination film???
September 18th, 2006 at 12:21 pmYou are hypocrites – one and all, and America knows it!
Well at least we agree on somethings .Mark

October 10th, 2006 at 1:14 amWhen you get right down to it this was just a Hollywood movie that was loosely based on real events. Those who pick it apart have more to hide than those who accept what it is for what it is. The only thing that really matters is that the FBI dropped the ball on the investigations leading up to 9-11 and forced out the one man who could have stopped or seriously reduced the actions and events on 9-11.
