FBI Agent Who Consulted On Path to 9/11 Quit Halfway Through Because ‘They Were Making Things Up’
James Bamford, an author and journalist who has written about security issues, appeared on MSNBC to discuss “The Path to 9/11.” Bamford revealed that an FBI agent who worked as a consultant to the film quit halfway through production of the mini-series because he believed the writers and producers were “making things up.” Watch it:

Imagine an alternate reality in which ABC airs a "docudrama" promoting the conspiracy theory that Bush knew about the attacks but intentionally did nothing to stop them. Would the headline be "TV Movie Puts Bush on Defensive"?
It should be "TV Movie Slanders Clinton Administration." That wouldn't be a statement of opinion; it would be fact.

September 7th, 2006 at 12:18 pmPerhaps it's a good thing if this mockumentary is aired? For openers, it will "out" ABC & Disney as to their political agendas. Secondly, it will show the american public just how far this admin. will go to manipulate minds and attempt to rewrite history. But thirdly, it certainly will have the desire effect of "refocusing the minds of the people on what actually did occur on that tragic day"....which begins with COS sitting in a 2nd grade classroom and continuing to read My Pet Goat while the WTC fell to dust....without flinching or batting an eyelast. Impotency?
Lastly, as the microscopic lens begins to more finely focus on the events of 9/ll, there will be an outcry for further investigation (since Keane obviously prefers the limelight to that of pressing the need for implementation of the list of things necessary to protect this country as indicated by his own report). Perhaps an investigation needs to occur as to precisely "WHY" nothing has been done to further protect us? And why?
And what about an actual, historic timeline of 9/11 events?? Where's all that? The american public, for whom these neocons work, needs to know.
So, let's support ABC in their sponsorship of this mockumentary because it will, no doubt, spawn something much, much larger.......thanks, ABC!

I fear, however, that all this film will do is reinforce false history in the minds of too many Americans. The percentage of Americans believing that Iraq is central to the war on terror, there was a connection between Iraq and Al Qaeda, and that WMD were found will probably increase as a result.

Wasn't it Condi Rice who recieved a memo that said "Bin Laden determined to strike in the US" which outlined that Al queda was investigating hijackings, yet Condi and Bush ignored it? I think Charlie Gibson is a closet wanta but conservative and he probably played a big role in this destortion of the truth. I've notice the so called "liberal media" types like Wolf Blitzer, Tim Russert, and others go out of their way to prove they aren't liberal. In other words they tend to take the Republican view on things regardless of what the facts really are.
If my charge about Gibson weren't true, he'd be fighting this bunch of bull tooth and nail. I've seen the network anchors falling all over themselves to favor the conservatives for fear of being the next Dan Rather. They are so afraid that they have lost all jounalistic integrity in my humble opinion. On the other hand anyone who didn't know that Fox New is nothing but a propaganda machine for Republic rightwing views, must be living on another planet. You would expect something like this from Fox on the eve of national elections, but ABC? Peter Jennings would have never gone for such a blatant attempt to sway voters with a pack of lies.
It is so obvious what they are trying to do. With a solid majority of voters finally realizing Iraq had nothing to do with 9-11 and blaming Bush, they (ABC) had to find a way to shift the blame to Clinton. As I recall Bill Clinton was the former President on 9-11-01 and George W. Bush was the sitting President. Republicans have been attempting to blame 9-11 on Clinton since day one to avoid responsibility for what happened on their watch. What ABC is doing is shameful and amounts to trying to blame a retired Cop for not solving a crime that happened after he'd retired and was no longer on duty.
Shame, shame, shame, ABC (Absolutely Buffaloed Cowards), you are going down, and this weak attempt to appease the White House, Republicans, and Fox News will go down in history as a joke on you. I'll tell you why, Fox News will still be calling you liberals after your attempted butt kissing has become a faded memory.

Having reviewed a copy of this mini-series, the management at Channel 5 feels strongly that viewers should decide for themselves the merits of this movie. Unfortunately, there is plenty of blame to go around – Republican, Democrat, government official and everyday citizen.

Thank you for all your hard work collecting this information. I find it quite interesting because I do not believe the 9/11 Commission Report. I do not know if I am willing to go as far as your posts have suggested, but I am not dismissing them outright. For example, while I do not yet accept that our own government planned the attacks, I am definitely leaning toward them having foreknowledge and, because it would provide the "new Pearl Harbor" the neocons wanted, letting it happen. Even that is painful to accept, but it's hard to believe it impossible. I have no opinion one way or the other about AIPAC.
Because your posts are often deleted by admin, I either print out the threads to save the information or I copy and paste it all into a Word document so that the internet links are preserved. Then I can look at it later if it gets deleted. They have no excuse to delete anything you write on this topic because it's all "on topic".
Keep up the good work. Your words are not falling only on deaf ears. Some of us are reading and learning and we are grateful for it. Just wanted to let you know.

Answer: Probably because his contract with ABC and/or the producers forbids him to do so. It's likely that if he spoke up personally he'd be sued and/or be contractually bound to pay a steep financial penalty. That's why this commented wouldn't name the guy. Heck, if the producers find out who the 'leaker' is, then they'll probably go after him. One call to the NSA should do the trick...

And if Disney is infltrated as asserted above, that needs to be exposed. Whether or not that's the case, media trusts have to be busted up. And I think that's part of the problem here - Disney and the other media trusts desperately want to protect their turf from congressional re-regulation that would follow from Democratic victory, and so they do all they can to swing elections to Republicans, "The Path to 911" being the most obvious and recent case in point. The media treatment of this election has to be monitored and refereed like never before.

Of course, I am optimistic that when that microscope lens is refocused, the truth will prevail. Actually, Truth is totally "what is"....anything else is "unreality". If this mockumentary refocuses that lens for the majority of americans, perhaps this country has some hope of saving itself from doom.
Of course, we idealogically presume that if the Dems take over congress & senate in November, something magical will occur and we will regain our failing democracy. This cannot and will not occur until ALL truths are revealed....and the litany of lies and mountain of falsehoods keeps amassing daily.

How can this "dramatization", that clearly does attempt to "lay blame" with fictional scenes that never really happened be expected to help the public "...really to understand the story of 9/11..."?

I am enjoying your posts, but really, whether Osama bin Laden exists is factually not in question.
Even ignoring the fact that bin Laden was a CIA asset whom we used in Afghanistan, what do you make of the fact that Bill Clinton was after OBL for years during his presidency? Clinton's grave concerns about OBL and Al Qaeda's terrorist activities are extremely well-documented. President Clinton did not use OBL as his boogeyman the way that Bush does, but rather, pursued him vigorously and privately.
I agree that whether or not OBL is alive, and has made tapes recently, is anyone's guess. I also agree that if OBL is alive, he is probably either in league with Bush, or realizes that Bush's policies only help his recruiting drives and wants Bush to be president forever. But to think that OBL is a creation of Bush, you'd have to also believe that Bill Clinton was in on the conspiracy, and what would his motivation have been for that?

Thank You for nailing that, it's nauseating to see these media outlets prostrate themselves endlessly for this President whenever possible-W's Neglectfully Malign response immediately after Katrina being one of those occasions reality couldn't be spun away to Karl Rove's liking
This Administration constantly plays everyone for idiots of the most blithering variety, ESPECIALLY their wingnut of theological thugs like Dobson, Loony Moonie, Rod "Sprig Of" Parsely, all the US Taliban who would rather hear hateful rhetoric about homosexuals than see this nation's numerous security shortcomings against terrorist attacks actually strengthened logically and competently

As we see now, this agenda is running up against a confluence of anger, undeniable reality, and domestic and foreign allies now distancing themselves from this Administration

That this propaganda is running into more problems by the day for ABC certainly won't help W sell his most-cherished self-mythology, that he's keeping the public any safer from terrorism now than he did on Sept 11, or that he's actually waging any kind of real, competent & effective anti-terrorist efforts
It's time to do exactly what Karl Rove would do to a dazed & reeling political enemy, and that's go for the finish by turning the opponent's strength into an obvious weakness that in this case puts the US public at greater risk of another terrorist attack

Plunger, I too enjoy your posts. I don't believe it all but for damn sure the truth has been withheld or altered and by more than one or two individuals.
I am inclined to believe that OBL is tickled to have Bush in charge and will be waiting until after 2008, when a Democrate is in office and perhaps until 2009 and then he will unleash another attack. This will play very well for him in the US political climate. I believe that OBL's friends in the Taliban were not very happy with loosing control of Afgahnistan because of 911, but OBL has played the Neocons like a fiddle ever since.

The neo-cons have abandoned their principles (yes, they had them) for power and and corruption. It is sad, it is destroying our political culture, and it is leading America down the path to Empire -- as if that is a glorious, never-ending achievement. Please do not air this movie. If you do I will boycott any Disney or ABC affiliates. I will also encourage all my family and friends to do the same. How much is the republican party and George W's gang paying you to air their talking points rather then the truth. On your ABC Sunday morning news show - you have changed your memorial for the lost soldiers of the week. George S started out number that had died that week and the number of names the pentagon has release. Now he only says the pentagon has released the following names. Won’t they let you tell the complete truth? Shame on Disney and shame on ABC.

That was one of the most informative books I've ever read about the Bush Administration's lies to promote this illegal war. Read it if you haven't already. September 8th, 2006 at 10:10 pmLet's be clear about this. I worked on the project and closely with the FBI agent--Tom Nicoletti- who "advised" us. He's a psycho. He quit, thankfully, before any scenes involving serious FBI material was shot. His replacement, a respected agent, told us stories of Tom's rogue behavior when he was an agent. Apparently, Tom had one desire--to kill someone. At some point he got his wish. Tom did not quit half way through the project--he did so after two weeks because no one was paying attention to him. Why??? Because we weren't shooting FBI scenes!!!!
Everyone seems to want a piece of this show--Democrats, Rebublicans, Barbarba Bodine, a psychotic ex-FBI agent. The truth is--two administrations screwed up. The intelligence community screwed up. A lot of people died. Stop trying to lay blame and take some responsibility. That is the point of the show. And anyone who hasn't seen the entire show has no right to make a comment on it.
Finally, Bamford should look deep into his soul if he calls Tom Nicoletti a friend.

The fact is is that Clinton led this country down a path where retaliation against Bin Laden became mixed and a political quamire. The movie characterizes Clinton as a coward. Very bold statement, yet it is an opinion, one in which I tend to agree. CLINTON IS A COWARD. The neo-cons have not demonstrated treason and the fact that FBI consultants resigned is because the movie didn't fit into thier political parameters.
