Remember this post? Looks like someone was listening: “The TV Watch column in Weekend yesterday, about the ABC mini-series The Path to 9/11, referred incorrectly to a conclusion of the commission that investigated the terror attacks. The commission said the accusation that President Clinton had ordered air strikes against Osama bin Laden in August 1998 to distract attention from the Monica Lewinsky scandal was one of several factors that ‘likely had a cumulative effect on future decisions about the use of force’ against Mr. bin Laden. It did not conclude that the scandal distracted the Clinton administration from the terrorist threat.”
How bad would things be if the blogs weren’t doing the jobs that newspapers used to do?

September 10th, 2006 at 12:06 amWonder who leveled those accusations that “likely had a cumulative effect?”
September 10th, 2006 at 12:07 amWhy are they picking on the clenis? After all, even condi said, “WHO COULD HAVE KNOWN!”
Of course, that won’t make it into the movie and I understand chimpy will preempt the segments about his incompetence/negligence and use the MSM to catapult his propaganda.
September 10th, 2006 at 12:42 amDamn, our media is screwed up!
September 10th, 2006 at 12:50 amIf the 9/11 report had some 27 pages removed before publication, then how can this docudrama be the ‘exact truth’ as they promote this political soap opera?
It’s like reading a 500 page murder mystery only to find the last 25 pages torn out. Watching an action packed film only to have the DVD crap out durong the last 25 minutes, or a storm knocking out the power during that last quarter of the superbowl.
This film is ‘theory’ because it has to be due to the missing chapter[s]
September 10th, 2006 at 12:57 amand where was this correction found in the paper?…likely not as noticable as the original column…
i recieved a mailing that offers a home subscription to the NYT… i’m still thinking of the reply note that i will write in bright red ink on the form… it will probably begin something like, “you’ve got to be kidding”…
any suggestions welcome…
September 10th, 2006 at 12:58 amBTW, i’m in illinois!
any suggestions welcome…
BTW, i’m in illinois!
I would probably write; Kitty Litter is cheaper than paper.
September 10th, 2006 at 1:04 amDo NOT watch the ABC/Disney phony docu-drama propaganda film today > the best way to harm the GOP funders is to NOT watch it! There could even be subliminal messages in the docu-drama, so do NOT allow your children to watch it > PERIOD.
September 10th, 2006 at 1:35 amI won’t be watching it. I have some kick ass movies to get to from Netflix. F**k ABC.
…what will YOU be doing?
September 10th, 2006 at 5:38 amThe Lewinski trial was GOP tactics to derail Clinton, because he was doing way too much for the people, like providing cheaper housing and safer contracts, which rubbed the rich (GOP) owners the wrong way.
Now that I come to think of it, they might have also wanted to distract him from bombing their buddy bin Laden.
September 10th, 2006 at 6:23 amIt appears that as of Sunday Morning that Disney will go forward with the airing of this mini-series tonight. So what can we do going forward? Since Disney is not listening, what can we do?
Let’s begin with a boycott of Disney World, Disneyland, all Disney Stores, Disney products, Disney movies, The Disney Channels, all ABC and ESPN programs, the ESPNZONE, all program sponsors any Disney and Disney-related media, and any mass-media company that advertises Disney and Disney-affiliated products.
This company is target-rich so there are so many ways to skin the mouse. Disney does not appreciate its loyal customers and doesn’t mind using its vast means to lie to those very customers. But money, our money, money that’s not going to Disney will have the ultimate impact.
We should start a blog called “BoycottDisneyNow”. Believe this, if just 5% of us participated, Disney would feel it hard.
Thanks,

Thank God someone from the NY Times is doing their job.
September 10th, 2006 at 8:08 amI know it’s laid out weeks in advance, but I was disgusted by the front of the Tribune’s TV section today: “ABC airs factual mini-series that points fingers and names names.”
September 10th, 2006 at 8:50 amWhen will they correct their review of United 93. This movie is described as “meticulously researched” and “based on fact”, but there is not any indication that the German passenger Christian Adams was indeed a coward and appeaser and tried to stop the American heroes from storming the cockpit as the movie shows. The Guardian’s film critic writes: “The film United 93 finds old Europe literally standing in the way of US derring-do. The only trouble is, it didn’t happen that way.”
September 10th, 2006 at 9:43 amPerhaps you are interested in my take on this in the Atlantic Review: German 9/11 Victim Defamed in “United 93″ Movie.
Thanks.
#15 I have not seen United 93, But this doesn’t surprise me. Integrity seems to have become an obsolete concept in this country, particularly in the media. It is truly a disgrace. How irresponsible to create such a gross caricature-like portrayal of this passenger. How could anyone claim to know what happened aboard any of those planes for a “fact”. “Facts” are flipped, wrapped and served like burgers at a Mcdonalds drive through these days. The majority choose to consume and feed on these “facts” with great pleasure and ease. Too much effort to dig a little deeper. It would be great if we could rely on the average reader or audience to double check what they see or read, but that will never happen. Daily my hopes of this country ever recovering from this administration and the government run media shrink smaller. This country has become a playground for idiots. I rue the day this all comes crashing down on us.

September 10th, 2006 at 12:42 pmI, too, was very angered at the advertising of this film on the cover of the Tribune’s TV Week.
I tell myself, it is the Republican biased newspaper of the region, they always favor the Republicans, always advocate the Republican platform, slant their news stories toward the Republicans, and I try to excuse it as more of the same, but I was furious nonetheless.
Of course, you can’t read the correction unless you’re a registered member at NYTimes.com. You can read the falsehood-riddled review just fine, however–and, of course, there is nothing whatsoever in the review itself to suggest that a correction has recently been added to it.
Nice.
